A/N: New chapters for my stories are instantly updated to my P atreon, under the same username, as soon as I finish writing them! I will still post new chapters here, just much slower, only twice a month now as I'm putting all my focus on P atreon. I really appreciate all the support I've received from this site, which is why I will not stop posting here, just slowing down. I keep an updated list of the chapters I've posted so far on P atreon on my profile, just so you guys know what to look forward to when I eventually post them here ^^
If anyone has any questions or concerns about me posting on P atreon, please PM me about it and I will explain the move, but please don't post a review about it, please leave reviews to be just that: a review about the story. There was a lot of thought and research about moving to P atreon and I'm more than happy to explain it all. But please, above all else, enjoy the chapter! =D
Kate couldn't stop the hysterical cackle if she tried; which she never would have tried in the first place. She knew it! She knew there was something fruity about at least Edward, beyond a doubt about Edward, and possibly Carlisle. Her gaydar was never wrong. A gay can always spot a gay, she had been sure about it.
She couldn't believe the irony about the whole thing. The two people that always gave them the most trouble about being in threesome relationship with all the same sex, were in fact gay with each other! Kate really wanted to reach out to Jasper to verify if that was the case; perhaps the empath would be able to have enough insight to verify. Maybe she could even coerce them to go to Italy and have Marcus confirm their bonds.
It was like an early Christmas with this information. Kate couldn't wait to unleash all the jokes she had thought up on the spot, never mind all the jokes that would come to her as time went on. As she opened her mouth to say something, she hadn't even picked a joke yet, a quick look from Tanya made her immediately shut her mouth just as quickly.
Apparently they were going to continue with the serious conversation instead of poking fun at what they had all known was already true. Kate frowned in annoyance, her older sister was always really good at ruining all her fun.
"What do you think Edward planned to do with the human?" Tanya asked wondering what his endgame would have been if his mate was technically by his side the whole time, what he would have had done with Bella. She would have either had to have been turned, in which Bella would have instantly known her and Edward's connection were not as close as she thought, or she would have to be killed.
"We don't know." Rosalie answered, "But we were sure he didn't want to change her." She answered right away, sure about her words, "He was very adamant that she was to remain human. I highly doubt he would have ever let her be changed."
"He was stuck to her like glue," Emmett added, "So we wouldn't have even been able to steal her away to bring her here to change if we wanted to."
"But now you have brought her here." Irina said, "Should we just change her and be done with it?" She asked more of her coven leader than the two visitor's.
"It would make sure we adhered to the laws." Eleazar added, "It wouldn't protect Edward or Carlisle if the Volturi found out, but we would be safe."
"Good." Rosalie said with a sneer. "After they both risked our lives because Edward was stupid and has some sort of moral high ground problem and Carlisle can't tell him no, doesn't mean either of them should have put our lives at risk."
"Why come now, instead of when Edward initially started to get involved, when he first came here?" Tanya asked, wanting to try and make sure a repeat offense wasn't likely. It wouldn't do to help them only for these two to go back to the Cullen's and for Edward and Carlisle to repeat this whole mess again. The Volturi wouldn't forgive them a second time.
Emmett and Rosalie looked at each other; having a silent conversation only mates could have. It only took a couple seconds for Emmett to nod and agree he wouldn't mind answering. They would believe Emmett was being truthful over Rosalie as Emmett couldn't lie to save his life.
"We uh, well, we wanted to make sure." Emmett hesitantly started, "At first we weren't sure they weren't mates and Edward just wasn't panicking that he had feelings outside of his eternal depression and morality issues with being a vampire."
"I don't think he'll ever get that stick out of his ass." Kate murmured, not worried about others hearing her as she knew they all agreed with her, regardless of the hiss her sister gave her to be quiet. She only smirked at Irina, letting her know she wasn't bothered.
"Ha, yeah." Emmett said, fighting a smirk. "Well, we wanted to see what would happen when he got back, in case they were meant to be or something else Edward still insists on."
"What does he expect, a happy ever after with a girl when he can't even give me a hug hello?" Kate asked with a roll of her eyes.
"If that hug didn't involve you trying to grope him just to rile him he might be able to." Irina snarked.
"Ladies, behave." Tanya warned, fighting a smile. It never failed that her sisters would start bickering when they were trying to be serious and Tanya could never not be endeared to their flirty bantering.
"What? Not my problem Edward insists he's straight yet can't handle a pretty lady trying to cop-a-feel." Kate said with a frown at her fun being ruined.
"He always had a hint of disgust on his face whenever he got close to Bella; but it was always him that initiated any type of contact." Emmett said with a wide grin, "He is such a masochist it's ridiculous." He said with a laugh, Kate immediately joining with him.
"I know!" Kate cheered with a laugh.
Tanya only said and rubbed her forehead. She wanted to be mad that her mate wasn't exactly helping with keeping things on track, but really, did she expect anything else? After being with the woman for over a thousand years, she really should have expected nothing else.
"So you don't know what his endgame was; did Alice have any insight?" Tanya asked before Emmett could continue talking and possibly distract him and Kate again.
"As far as we're aware, Edward didn't have any plans." Emmett answered, "He was just acting off of instinct. It really pissed little Pixie off a lot of the times."
"I bet it did." Kate said with a smirk.
"What about Jasper, did he ever think Edward was on the brink of giving in to his instincts to finally drink from his singer?" Tanya asked, concerned about the lack of action on all of the Cullen's. Perhaps it was because they, including Carlisle, were still so young and had lived a very sheltered life. Normally, vampires weren't so afraid to act on their instincts; their instincts tended to keep them alive after all. But the Cullen's, it was like they were afraid to act outside of human parameters. Jasper hadn't lived with the Cullen's his entire vampire life though, surely with his violent background, he could have acted faster.
"I think he just wanted Edward to have some sense of happiness instead of the doom and gloom he normally felt." Emmett answered.
"Jasper likely just hoped that if Edward felt some sort of emotion outside of depression and self-pity, he may have been able to grow somehow." Rosalie answered, knowing that Jasper tended to keep others' emotions to himself. He wasn't like Edward who liked to respond to people's private thoughts all the time, Jasper rarely talked about what others' were feeling. Jasper had a healthy respect of others' privacy.
"Well, I suppose your families disregard for the laws is now our problem to deal with." Tanya said, her lips pursed in annoyance. She wasn't happy with the lack of answers her 'cousins' were giving her. They created a mess that was entirely avoidable and now because the Denali's knew of the human, they were now forced to fix it. "The human has our protection, but she will have to have a serious conversation about her future with us soon after she wakes up." Tanya warned. For the defense of her coven, the human couldn't be left human for long and Tanya would need to speak with the human to come up with a plan to safely change her while keeping her safe from the nomads.
Moving away from the impromptu baseball field was the hardest thing Victoria had ever done. Tearing her eyes away from the delicious brunette was something she hadn't wanted to do. But for the safety of her companions and her little mate, she needed to leave. The needed to get a safe distance away before they made their plans.
"This should be fun." James said with a sadistic smirk that normally Victoria would have loved to see, but not now; especially when that smirk was directed at her mate.
"Get close to her and I'll make sure you burn before you can even enjoy her scent." Victoria threatened, her gift letting her know she was treading a thin line. But she wasn't worried, she had friends that were a lot scarier than these two and they knew it.
For a moment James only smirked at her and that worried Victoria. She knew he was obsessed with the hunt, of any hunt, and apparently he was going to go after her mate. With a sight, she started backing away from them, knowing turning her back too soon would only open her up for an attack.
"I'll tell you this once: leave the human alone, she. Is. Mine." Victoria said, making her claim clear as her eyes darkened with each word with the seriousness of her words. "I'm letting you go now because of our shared history, but if I see you again, I will kill you." She threatened. She knew that as long as her human lived, even after Victoria changed her, James would always view her mate as a lost hunt and will want to fix that. James would always be a risk to her human, but as long as he stayed away from her, Victoria wouldn't kill James or his mate Laurent. But the second she caught just a sniff of his scent anywhere near her or her mate, he was a dead man.
Once her gift told her she was a safe enough distance to turn around, she did and sprinted away. She knew exactly where her human was. Apparently those vampires that had her didn't know much about vampires being mated to humans. As a defense mechanism, the vampire, once they met their human, can always find them. It was a tug that told Victoria which direction to go and how far away she was. Her human was far and she didn't like that.
Victoria couldn't say exactly where her mate was, but based off of what she was feeling, she knew her mate was moving. She was moving much too fast for a human. They were taking her north, of that she was sure. She only hoped that it was that bronze haired vampire that was with her so that Victoria could kill him for daring to lay a hand on her mate. She wasn't sure how long it would take, but she was sure that that boy would die by her hand sometime in the future. He had no right to claim her mate like he was clearly doing when he was trying to 'protect' her from her.
Victoria's eyes darkened as she thought about the retribution she would be gaining for her mate being kept from her. Thankfully, for one of the very few times in her existence, she finally had the law on her side. She desired that boys' head for his false claim, no matter if it wasn't a mate claim, he still laid a claim to her human after it was clear that Victoria and her were to be rightfully together. Her friends would see to it that no matter what his coven wanted or did, she would end up with his head burning.
Victoria kept her eyes on the goal as she ran. She thought only of getting to her delicious smelling mate and claiming her or at the very least marking in case they weren't safe when they first have an actual conversation so that any other vampires out there wouldn't get the silly idea to try and take her human away. Victoria only spare a few precious hours to hunt to her hearts content on same campers when she realized that she may not come by humans for some time as she ventured deeper into Canada and then soon Alaska. She was getting closer, she could feel it.
She would find her mate and then she would keep her far away from whoever had captured her in the first place. Then, with her mate at her side, she would plan her revenge. It was the perfect plan. She just needed to get to her mate first and make sure she could safely extract her from whoever had her. Victoria's eyes burned coal black as her thoughts turned to her mate possibly being in danger and held against her will with those golden eyed vampires.
