Chapter 5

Once the remains were recovered, the brothers hitched a ride back to the Impala and headed back to the motel with heavy hearts. They had not been able to stop the killing and it was a huge burden to bear. Neither brother tried to talk, both lost in their own thoughts. As they were pulling into the parking lot of the motel Sam's cell began to ring. He answered it as he got out of the Impala.

"Hello," he greeted the caller.

"Samuel, I think I've found a way to trap the boogeyman," Missouri replied.

"That's great, hold on, we're just getting back to the motel," Sam told her. He waited for Dean to open the door and put the cell on speaker. "You're on speaker Missouri." Sam hurried to the table and grabbed a pen and pad to take notes if needed.

"Hello Missouri, it's been a while," said Dean in a warm voice.

"And who's fault is that young man?" she chastised him with a soft laugh. "You boys need to stop by more often. I'll have a homemade pie waiting on you."

"You don't have to ask me twice," Dean beamed knowing she made the best desserts.

"What did you find Missouri?" Sam asked anxiously to get the information.

"Yes, of course. It took some time to find a ritual that would work," Missouri started. "I think it's doable but there's one catch…"

"What is that?" Dean asked.

"You will need someone the boogeyman has terrorized to draw him into the trap."

"Well," Dean huffed loudly. "Guess I'm the bait."

"No!" Sam cried out in fear. He couldn't see his brother go through another nightmare like before. He honestly didn't know if he would survive it.

"We don't have a choice Sammy," Dean spoke to him. "I'm not letting a kid do it and they're the only other ones it's targeted. What do we need to do Missouri?"

Sam snorted and threw Dean his best bitch face as he pinched his lips into a tight line, clenching his jaw. It always seemed Dean was the one risking his life to get the monster. He would put himself in harm's way never thinking about his own life. Dean had been protecting him his whole life, no matter what the danger was.

"Sammy, you can bitch later," Dean told him smacking him on the shoulder to get his attention. "Are you going to take notes or not?"

"Fine," Sam grunted in anger picking the pen back up. "Go ahead Missouri."

"I'm sure you know the boogeyman is a dweller of darkness and that is when it is at its strongest. It needs the darkness to move about and find its victims. Can you get some holy oil?"

"Yes, no problem," Sam replied. He continued to write the ingredients that Missouri told them and the steps to perform the ritual.

Dean sat in silence listening to the conversation as he mulled over his role to trap and kill the boogeyman. He was glad it was going to be him because he would never let Sam do it. It was ingrained in every cell of his body to protect his little brother. That had been his job since Sammy had been brought home from the hospital and put into his arms.

"Thanks Missouri, I think I've got everything. If I have any questions I'll get back in touch with you," Sam told her as he finished the last of his notes. "We appreciate the help with this one."

"Anytime Samuel, you be careful and call me when this is over, so I know you boys are okay."

"I will," Sam replied.

"And come and see me, both of you boys could use a cleansing afterwards and I promised Dean a pie."

"Okay, bye," said Sam ending the call and laying the cell aside. He glanced over his notes and looked at his brother's contemplating face. "First thing we need to do is find a place to do the ritual," he spoke to his brother. "Dean, are you with me?"

"Yeah, yeah," Dean finally replied blinking his eyes quickly and focusing on Sam. "Repeat that."

"We need to find a place to summon the boogeyman that is isolated where no one else can get hurt."

"Right, and since it needs darkness to function, we need a place that we can light up since it won't come out during the day."

"True," Sam nodded as his mind started putting together a plan. "And we need some way to keep you safe too. When it comes for you, it's going to manipulate your dreams and could kill you. I'm not taking that lightly."

"I know Sammy, we'll figure this out," Dean tried to assure him as much as himself.

"We could use like high powered work lights," Sam mumbled to himself as he started typing on his laptop. "I'll see if I can find a place to use."

"Let me have the list of ingredients and I'll see if we have everything or need to do some shopping," Dean told him reaching for the pad. "Why don't I grab us something to eat while I'm out? We need to do this before it takes another kid. So that means we do it tonight."

"I know." Sam didn't look up from his typing as Dean left.

Dean went out to the Impala to check the trunk and gathered what items he could use and marked the ones he needed to buy. He went in and borrowed a phone book to look up New Age or Occult shops in the area. After writing down the addresses, he got into the Impala and headed to the nearest shop to see if they had what he needed. He needed to pick up myrrh and cassia for holy oil and find a priest to consecrate it so they could use it. He figured two gallons would be enough for what they needed.

When Dean finished his errands, he snuck into a clinic and took some drugs and medical supplies he would need to do his part. He had worked out how to get the boogeyman to come to him. He wasn't sure Sam was going to like his idea, but it was the best one he could come up with.

His last stop was a diner about a mile from the motel where he went in to get dinner for them. Dean sipped tea while he waited for his order to be filled. He went over the beginnings of a plan and hoped Sam had found a place they could use.

"Dinner is here," Dean called out as he entered the room holding up the bags. "Are you ready for a break Sammy?"

"Almost," Sam answered not looking his way as he scrolled through websites and search engines.

"Don't take too long or your food will be cold."

"Okay…" Sam replied writing some notes on a pad.

Dean used half the table to set the food out and started eating his meal as he tried to read what Sam was writing. He saw several addresses and notes by each one. He knew better than to ask Sam about his research before he was finished. Sam wouldn't tell him anything until he had everything lined up and sorted. He had always been like that, and Dean teased him about having OCD just to rile him.

A/N: Both brothers are working on a plan. Will they be able to combine them and kill the boogeyman? Only one chapter left, and this journey will be over. I hope you have enjoyed the read. I do like reviews/comments. NC
