Mikaelson Mansion
Late Afternoon
Next Week
"I don't want to go, Elijah. There, I've said it. I'd rather just stay here and-," Kol began. Elijah had told Kol and Rebekah that they would be enrolling at Mystic Falls High School on Monday. Rebekah was excited, but Kol thought the whole idea was ridiculous.
Indy and Julian were playing a game quietly on the floor of the living room. Kol was sitting on the floor, crosslegged, with Julian in his lap.
Elijah interrupted, "And do what? Play with the children all day? Once the Sheriff amends their paperwork, Indy and Julian will also be going to school also. You can't just sit around this house all day watching that motion picture box!"
Kol and the kids snickered, Indy corrected, "It's called a t.v. Mommy used to call it a boob tube!"
Julian's laughter turned to sadness at mention of their late mother. Kol rubbed his arm as the boy asked, "Are we going back to the bad place?"
Elijah leaned down and picked him up from Kol.
"No, dear, you are going to stay here. Remember? The sheriff said there was a paperwork error and well, you don't have to go back there. Now, clean up your game. It's almost time for dinner," Elijah coaxed, setting the boy on his feet.
Indy and Kol started to clean up the game, but Julian hung back.
"Julian, please help clean up," Elijah reminded him gently.
"But I don't want to," Julian whined, causing his sister to glare at him.
"Julian, it's not fair if you don't help!" Indy corrected, stopping her own clean up efforts.
"That's right," Kol conceded.
"Kol, aren't you supposed to help Rebekah with supper tonight? I believe she is expecting you in the kitchen," Elijah prompted.
"She's a terrible cook," Kol grumbled, reaching over to tickle Indy as she laughed.
"Auntie Bex didn't know what peanut butter was!" Julian announced, still not picking up the game pieces.
In the last week, Elijah had tried to do a rotation for chores. Klaus and his new son, Damon, had been going out quite a bit on their own. This left Enzo and Kol to help Elijah hunt down the Augustines. So far, they hadn't found any, but Elijah also didn't want to be away from the children. Sage and Finn were willing to help a few nights a week, but Elijah didn't want to take advantage of them. The Augustines would have to wait a little longer for their due.
Elijah sighed, "Come on, I'll help you. Your choices are to help clean or go into time out. What shall it be?"
Julian's face crumpled, "Clean, I guess. I don't wanna go in time out."
"Fine, then help," Elijah said. He had been reading parenting books in the evening when he had time. After using time out on Kol the previous week, he decided to continue to look into modern methods of child rearing. Elijah thought that Klaus ought to read them before he continued to spoil Damon rotten. The two were being closer and excluding the rest of the family.
Julian put the lid on the box with a flourish.
"See Uncle 'Lijah, I done it," Julian said with pride. He had heard Damon calling Elijah that and picked it up.
"You certainly did. Well-done," Elijah responded, patting the child on the head.
Kol looked at Elijah as if he spouted a second head.
Elijah shrugged, "Positive praise...Try it!"
Kol smirked, "I'll be headed to the kitchen. If you hear an explosion, do not be surprised."
Indy cocked her head, "An explosion? What is he talking about, Uncle?"
"Oh, never you mind. Now, let's get you changed for dinner. I am sure you can make it up to your bedroom before me," Elijah challenged. "But remember, you must not run!"
Elijah had begun to remove some statues and other dangerous items from the house. Klaus said he didn't care and then berated Elijah for "redecorating."
Gilbert Residence
April tore off the navy blue dress and crawled into her bed in her underwear. It was a long day. The coroner had finally released her father's body and they had the funeral today.
Jenna knocked.
April called, "It's open. Come in."
Jenna had a tray of tea with a grilled cheese sandwich and some soup.
"Honey, you need to try to eat something," Jenna encouraged.
April sat up in bed. Bonnie and Elena were sharing Elena's bedroom and April had been staying in the guest room.
"I'm not hungry," April admitted.
"I know," Jenna said. "But just try a little soup. You're going to get sick if you don't eat."
April nodded and took the tray. "Thanks. It looks good."
"You know, I remember when my sister and her husband died," Jenna recalled. "We were all in shock. None of us were taking care of ourselves...It took Grayson's brother, John, to knock some sense in me. And I hate that guy."
"Dr. Gilbert was such a nice man," April remembered. "He'd always give me a lollipop when I got a shot. And he was with my mom when she died at the hospital."
"He was a great doctor," Jenna confirmed. "But John said he and Miranda would have wanted us to carry on. You know, it's been less than a week, but you have to try to take care of yourself. Your dad would have wanted that."
April was eating the soup and tried a small bite of the sandwich.
"I still don't know what my dad was up to," April shared. "I mean they are saying it was a gas explosion, but why were all those people there? He always had bible study and prayer meetings at the church, not the farm."
Jenna sat down in a chair by the wall.
"I don't know, April. But the truth is, he's gone. We need to let the investigators do their jobs. Your job is to try to go back to school and try to start healing," Jenna determined.
April put down her spoon and pushed the tray away.
"I will try. I'm sorry, I can't eat anymore," April said quietly.
"You did good," Jenna said. "I'll let you sleep."
Jenna picked up the tray and then leaned over and kissed April on the forehead. She was too young, like Elena and Jeremy, to be going through this, Jenna thought. She heard laughter and went to tell the other kids to quieten down.

Jeremy's Room
Anna and Jeremy sat on Jeremy's bed. Jeremy was reading from Jonathan Gilbert's journal.
"'June cold last night but the sun shines out now, warm and brightly today. Considerable ice running in the ... a very small school today. Some are sick and some are taking a new year holiday. I have never ... been so unsettled about the future...'" Jeremey read.
"Wonder what the sickness was," Anna mused. "Was he a schoolmaster? This relative of yours?"
Jeremy shrugged, "Don't know. Weird that it was so cold in June. I mean, is that even possible? This dude seems a little crazy to me."
"Go on, read more. Mother is going to be angry if I don't get my report done," Anna prompted.
Jeremy flipped a little further, careful of the fragile pages.
"'I met Barnette and Giuseppe this evening. I saw the skepticism in their eyes when I showed them the compass,'" Jeremy read. He wrote down the names in his notebook. "We should start looking up these people. My sister's ex, Stefan, is good at this stuff. Maybe he could help."
"Yes," Anna said without interest. "Go on."
"'I saw her again today, the most beautiful woman in town with a name just as pretty - Pearl,'" Jeremy continued. "Oh, we got a little romance. Hey, this is fun, but I need to get ready for that bonfire. Are you sure your mom won't let you go?"
Anna glanced at the journal in Jeremy's hand.
"Um, sorry, too much work. But I can go through the journal tonight?" Anna offered.
"Sorry, it's a family heirloom. I can't let it go," Jeremy explained.
Jenna opened the door. "Jer, this door stays open! Hi, Anna."
"Sorry, we forgot," Jeremy apologized. "And Anna is just leaving."
"Oh, okay. Well, come down and eat before you kids leave," Jenna prompted. "But remember, no drinking out there."
Jeremy smirked, "I know. We won't."
The party was in the woods on the old Lockwood property. It was an annual thing. Last year, Jeremy had gotten high with Vicki in the woods, but this year, she would not be there. She was in a rehab center.
Salvatore Boarding House
Library
Stefan poured himself a drink, not caring what type of liquor it was. He just wanted to feel the burn. Feel something. He had called Damon ten times and when Damon answered, he seemed far away. Distant.
The doorbell rung and Stefan looked at the huge grandfather clock. It was 7 o'clock. The party was later, Elena and Bonnie had begged him to go, but his heart wasn't in it. Stefan walked to the door, drink in his hand, and opened it.
"Lexi!" Stefan said, he threw his arms around her, sloshing half of the drink on the front stoop.
"Hey, are you dousing me in whiskey now? Is this my greeting?" Lexi laughed, hugging her best friend hard.
Stefan pulled back and looked at the lovely older vampire. She didn't look a day over 23. Her straight blonde hair was down and she was wearing a leather jacket and skinny jeans.
"You look amazing," Stefan said honestly.
"Yeah, well, you look like shit," Lexi retorted. "Since I missed your birthday, I thought we'd celebrate now."
"Um, my birthday is November 1 and you are politely referring to me being on a murderous rampage with Klaus. But thank you, I'm just not in the mood to celebrate," Stefan grumped, as they walked into the huge house.
"Okay, then we can celebrate my belated birthday, November 13th," Lexi grinned.
"This is stupid, Lex," Stefan whined. "I am not in the mood to celebrate anything. Just, leave me be. I can't pretend to be happy, even for you right now."
Lexi reached into her slouchy leather purse and took out a giant hairbrush.
"Are you in the mood for me to bust your behind?" Lexi warned. "Now, I happen to have spoken to your asshole brother. He said that 'stuff went down' and he is now living with the freaking Originals. So that means, you have been here alone, wallowing in your misery. Correct? And don't lie to me or you'll end up with a very cute, but very sore bottom tonight."
Stefan sighed and tried to take his eyes off the hairbrush that had graced his behind more times than he could count.
"Yes, ma'am," Stefan finally admitted. "That is correct."
"And you and Elena are now 'just friends?'" Lexi continued.
"Yes, Lexi, that is true," Stefan grumped. "She's done with Damon, too. Can we sit down and I can explain? But with you putting the brush away?"
Lexi smirked and went over to the coffee table.
"The brush stays out. Pour me a drink and I want to hear all about this new drama. Is Damon really Klaus' son? Tell me everything," Lexi said, hopping down on the stiff velvet couch. "Ugh, this couch sucks."
"Yeah, it's original," Stefan agreed, pouring Lexi a gin and tonic. He told her everything that had transpired the last few months in condensed form. "I need to get you some lime."
Lexi waved him off. "I don't need lime. Get your butt over here. Stefan, just because Damon is...something else, doesn't mean he doesn't love you."
Stefan brought the drink over and sat by Lexi.
"I think he's all screwed up inside. First, I go off on a ripper binge with Klaus. He gets me back, breaks up with Elena, and now he's a fucking werewolf? And a witch? And that bastard Klaus is his fucking father?" Stefan exclaimed.
Lexi's mouth tightened, "Stefan Salvatore, I never heard such language come out of your mouth. Do I need to get a bar of soap?"
Stefan was ashamed of his outburst.
"No, Lexi. I'm sorry. I guess I should be happy for Damon. I know I'm being selfish," Stefan said unhappily.
"You are, actually," Lexi said firmly. "You know that Damon is not my favorite person, but he cares about you. He's made sacrifices for you, that you don't know about."
Stefan looked up in surprise, blurting out, "Lexi, tell me. Please, what are you talking about?"
Lexi stood up, saying, "Remember World War 2 when you were getting ready to be deployed?"
Stefan frowned, "Yeah, Damon ditched me. We were going to go off to war. This time, together. I was thinking that we could be brothers again...but he didn't show.
Lexi turned, admitting, "I asked him not to go with you. Stefan, you were doing so well and I thought he'd be a bad influence on you. He felt awful, but made the right decision because he loves you."
"What? And you never told me this!" Stefan erupted. "How could you? I was supposed to meet him here in the 1950s. But then I met a girl and was a couple of days late. Do you know what happened to Damon?"
Lexi shrugged, "He got drunk and ate a bunch of Elvis lovers?"
"It's not fucking funny. He got kidnapped by the Augustines. He was tortured for ten Goddamn years. That's what I am feeling guilty about! But I guess that is your fault, too," Stefan roared, throwing his glass into the fire.
Lexi looked into the flaring fire and grabbed Stefan's arms.
"You left that part out of your story, mister! Didn't I tell you to share everything. This is the problem, Stefan, you bottle it all up and then explode. Then, you break and drink human blood and we have to go through the motions all over again," Lexi chided. "Not this time."
Stefan realized he had pushed the 400 year old vampire too far.
"Damon called you didn't he?" Stefan moaned.
"Yeah, he said you were acting weird. He invited you over to the house and you said you were 'too busy'? Is that true?" Lexi demanded.
"What? That he invited me to our enemies' house or that I am too busy?" Stefan snapped.
"I don't like your tone, young man! Get those pants down," Lexi ordered.
"No, Lexi, give me another chance," Stefan whined, glancing back at the heavy brush on the table.
"Nope, you had your chance to come clean and you blew it," Lexi said firmly. "One..."
"Stop counting!" Stefan yelled.
"Two...," Lexi continued.
Stefan blanched and started to unbutton his slacks.
"Underpants, too?" Stefan asked, with tears in his eyes.
"I am not even going to answer that," Lexi said with an eye roll.
Stefan moaned and shoved his pants and briefs to his knees.
"Bend over the couch," Lexi ordered.
"Lexi, please," Stefan tried. But Lexi had had enough out of the former Ripper of Monterey. She vamped to Stefan and leaned him over the arm of the velvet couch so his hands were on the cushions and his backside high.
Slap! Slap! Slap! Slap!
Lexi unleashed a flurry of hard swats on the center of Stefan's behind that left him breathless and shuffling his feet. Since Stefan only drank animal blood and Lexi had 200 years on him, he was no match for her strength. Plus, Stefan knew deep down, he deserved this.
Slap! Slap! Slap! Slap!
"Keep your bottom out," Lexi directed.
Slap! Slap! Slap! Slap!
"Ouch! Lexi, you don't have to spank me. I didn't even do anything," Stefan said, breaking down in tears of frustration. His bottom was already stinging and hot, Lexi was not messing around tonight.
"I don't even remember the last time I had to spank you," Lexi said lightly. "Maybe 1989? When you almost relapsed...Maybe it was '92?"
Stefan sobbed, "I don't know! Please, Damon is the one who ought to be getting spanked. He doesn't care about me anymore."
Slap! Slap! Slap! Slap!
Slap! Slap! Slap! Slap!
"That's crap and you know it," Lexi said. "He needs a little time to adjust and you need to be the strong one for a while."
Slap! Slap! Slap! Slap!
Slap! Slap! Slap! Slap!
Stefan popped up and threw back his hands over his scalded behind to protect it.
"Back over the couch. You just got an extra minute with the brush," Lexi warned.
Stefan moaned, "No, it hurts too bad."
Lexi turned Stefan and moved his hands away from his sculpted behind. It was red and blotchy.
"When was the last time you fed?" Lexi inquired, patting his rear lightly.
"I don't know," Stefan wailed. "A while."
Lexi huffed, "Well, you are hardly healing. After I paddle your tight little buns good, I'm going to get you some bunny blood and then put you to bed."
"But there is a party tonight," Stefan protested.
"Oh, and you were going to go?" Lexi prompted.
"Well, no, but Elena asked me to. If you are there, it would be fun," Stefan argued.
"Okay, we'll see if you can take the rest of your spanking like a big boy. Get the brush. You're going over my lap for this," Lexi informed him.
Stefan wiped the tears and mucus off his face with one hand, while clutching his bottom with the other. He had to shuffle over to the coffee table as his pants were now around his ankles.
Lexi couldn't help but be charmed, with his pants down, Stefan looked like a naughty little boy. Their relationship was always platonic, but she could not deny how handsome Stefan was, nor how cute he looked right now.
"You're laughing at me," Stefan moaned.
"No, Stefan," Lexi corrected. "I was just thinking how much you need this and how much I love you. That's why we're not letting you fall into self-pity and self-loathing. Take off your pants. You won't need them."
Stefan kicked off his pants and underwear. After a sharp glance from Lexi, he leaned over and folded them before placing them on the coffee table.
"Good boy," Lexi said, taking a seat on the couch. "I want you completely over this time."
Stefan's face was redder than his bottom as he stretched himself over Lexi's lap. She put a pillow over her thigh to raise his pert bottom up even more.
Lexi took the brush and rubbed it over Stefan's now pink cheeks.
"You can kick but don't block your buns. You already have an extra minute of spanks at the end. Those can be applied to your thighs if you don't behave for me," Lexi threatened.
Stefan clutched at another pillow waiting for the spanking to began.
"Stop clenching and spread your legs a little," Lexi warned. She planned to make sure this little therapy session was effective.
"Wait!" Stefan tried, before the first smack landed.
Whap! Whap!
This time, Lexi paddled slowly, letting the flat back of the wooden place do its' work for her.
Whap! Whap!
The smacks still stung and Stefan wiggled his bottom, but stayed in place.
"You should have been the one to call me," Lexi said, popped Stefan slowly.
Whap! Whap!
"I didn't want to b-bother you!" Stefan yelped, as the swats got slightly harder. His bum was throbbing and the heat intensified.
Whap! Whap!
"You're my best friend," Lexi reminded him. "It's never a bother."
Whap! Whap!
Whap! Whap!
"S-Sorry, Lex!" Stefan cried, now kicking his legs and feet up.
Whap! Whap!
Whap! Whap!
"I forgive you," Lexi said. "But now you are getting the penalty spankin'."
Whap! Whap! Whap! Whap! Whap! Whap!
Whap! Whap! Whap! Whap! Whap! Whap!
Lexi started to paddle harder and faster, making sure to pop Stefan's sit spots and the top of his thighs, when his feet got too high.
Whap! Whap! Whap! Whap! Whap! Whap!
Whap! Whap! Whap! Whap! Whap! Whap!
Stefan was now howling and Lexi had to pin him down harder with her strong left arm.
Whap! Whap! Whap! Whap!
Whap! Whap! Whap! Whap!
She slowed the spanks and then put the brush aside to finish up with a brisk hand spanking that left Stefan limp and spent.
Crack. Crack. Crack. Crack.
Crack. Crack. Crack. Crack.
Crack. Crack. Crack. Crack.
Crack. Crack. Crack. Crack.
"Are you going to talk honestly about what you are feeling now?" Lexi said, her hand caressing Stefan's bright red bottom. Stefan sobbed something, but she couldn't make it out.
Whack!
"Answer me, or I pick up the brush again," Lexi threatened.
"Y-Yes, m-ma'am," Stefan hollered. "I-I will t-talk."
"And can you have an honest conversation with your brother?" Lexi asked, now patting Stefan's behind lightly. Tap. Tap.
"Y-YES!" Stefan wailed.
SMACK!
With one last hearty swat across both stinging cheeks, Lexi stopped the spanking.
"Good. You can get up when you are ready. I think we can forgo the mouth soaping, but anymore lies or curses come out, you will be brushing with soap. Got it?" Lexi reprimanded.
"Yes, L-Lexi," Stefan agreed. He felt better and cleansed. His tears were drying up and he was left with a hot bottom, but a clear mind.
"Now, you are going to let me hold you," Lexi said. She pulled a throw from the back of the couch and covered Stefan in it as he got up. Lexi pulled him back down on her lap and cuddled him.
"There, all forgiven. You feel better?" Lexi asked.
"Yessss," Stefan said, feeling childish. He never let Elena see this side of him, but with Lexi, he could let go.
"I love you, Stefan," Lexi said, rocking him slightly.
"Love you, t-too," Stefan said.
Lexi held him for another few minutes.
"Now, I want you to call you brother and invite him to this party. You two need to talk," Lexi said.
"But Lexi, he won't want to come," Stefan protested. Lexi picked up the brush and raised her eyebrows. Stefan knew she wasn't afraid to paddle him again.
"Fine," Stefan grumped. "I'll try."
"That's all I'm asking for, Stef," Lexi said brightly. "And you won't know until you try."
Mikaelson Mansion
After Dinner
"A party?" Finn asked. "In the woods? Why would the children go there when they have fine homes to stay in?"
Sage smiled, "I think it that they wish to be out of the sight of the adults. Plus, you recall the festivities around the bonfire we had back in the day? They were always enjoyable. It is similar, my love."
Finn smiled and took Sage's hand. They were finishing up dinner.
Damon smirked, "It's a tradition in town for the teens to have parties in the woods. It's like an open secret. It gets them out of their parents' hair and there is only so much damage they can do in the woods. I attended a few of these with Elena. The worst that happens is some kids puke in the brush. Oh, and there are usually a few fist fights. Sometimes the police come and break it up and everyone runs."
Stefan had called Damon and invited him to the party. He was pleased that his call to Lexi had proved successful. He didn't want to call Elena and beg her, but Lexi was usually reliable. Lexi and Damon may have hated each other, but they both loved Stefan.
Kol leaned back, "Sounds like a good time. Do you think I could join you?"
"Yeah, you and Rebekah should come. I'll introduce you to some of the other students at the school. You, too, Enzo," Damon offered. "It will keep you from moping around the house about Wes still being alive."
Enzo shrugged, "Fine, I've nothing else to do."
Klaus grimaced, "I am thinking about letting Wes move about the house more. I am learning quite a bit from the doctor. We could use him and his blood is delicious."
Elijah had let the younger children go watch t.v. since they ate so nicely at the table. He was realizing they couldn't sit through long meals like the others did.
"Niklaus, would you help me clear? It's only fair since Rebekah and Kol cooked this delicious meal," Elijah prompted.
"Why you dismissed the staff, I will never know," Klaus complained. "I do not like doing menial chores, Elijah. You know that."
"Niklaus, you are not being a good example for the others. Now, please, I would like to speak to you," Elijah said, picking up the remnants of the roast and a bowl of green beans.
Klaus sighed and picked up his plate and Kol's.
"Hey, I was still eating," Kol exclaimed, grabbing back his plate.
"Oh, sorry," Klaus said, grinning. He followed Elijah into the adjoining kitchen. Elijah started the water in the sink to soak the pots in.
"Are you sure letting Damon go is a good idea?" Elijah whispered.
Klaus was offended, "Elijah, he's been doing splendid. You yourself haven't found any trace of those Augustines or the Travellers. We can't let the others be penned up in this house forever. They need to mingle with the townspeople."
Elijah added some dish soap and turned to his younger brother.
"You are correct. But I think you ought to compel him to behave himself," Elijah stated. "His new powers are strong and if he is able to perform magic, then it could start manifesting. You know that."
Klaus put down the roast and bowl on the island.
"I never compelled Marcellus, you know that. I promised Damon that I wouldn't meddle with his mind. Plus, he could be immune to it now," Klaus said, leaning against the counter.
"Maybe you should go to this party, too?" Elijah suggested.
"With the people who despise me? I think not," Klaus laughed. He remembered the staff covering food with plastic, but he didn't know where anything in this kitchen was. Klaus started looking through the cabinets, but only found wine glasses and dishes.
Elijah took out a roll of aluminum foil from the pantry.
"Fine, Brother. I only wish to ensure everyone's safety," Elijah said. "And what of this town council? Are you sure they are not still suspicious of vampires?"
"Damon is on the council, as well as Liz Forbes," Klaus said lightly. "I'm sure they would know if there was trouble afoot. Relax, Elijah. See to your new children. We shall clean up here."
"You clean? I am astounded," Elijah joked. "But I should make sure Indy and Julian are behaving. They have been far too quiet."
Klaus waited for Elijah to leave and then called Kol.
"Kol, come clean this up. Where's Rebekah?" Klaus said, surveying the dining room table.
"She went to get ready," Finn said. "Sage is going to help her get dressed."
Kol whined, "Why do I have to do everything?"
"Enzo and Damon can help. I need to take Wes a plate. I almost forget he is human, he has such a viscous affect, it's almost like he has become like the vampires he wished to destroy," Klaus stated.
"Enzo and Damon went to fiddle with Damon's car," Kol grunted. "And it's almost as if you admire this Wes."
Klaus shrugged, fixing a plate. "I suppose he is growing on me. Did you hear a crash?"
Kol grinned, "The children probably busted something else. Ha, yes. Oh well, Elijah can deal with that."
Finn stood up, "I'll help you, Kol. Father would be horrified if he saw us doing 'women's work.'"
Kol grinned, "All the more reason to do it. Nik, you did make sure the old devil was dead, did you not?"
Klaus carried the plate with him, saying, "Yes, I staked him and watched him burn. You can be sure of that."
"Good," Finn said, picking up the rolls. "Grab those plates, Kol."
Kol looked in the direction of the living room.
"Something broke. I hope they didn't bust the new television. I quite like it," Kol commented.
"If you go to school this week, I will buy you one of those computers, Kol," Klaus promised. "Now, hurry, and look after the others at this party."
"Aye, aye," Kol said, stacking the dirty plates on top of each other.
