Night
Jeremy sat at the kitchen table trying to do his homework and threw up his hands.
"This is bullshit. I have no idea what I am doing," Jeremy announced, pushing aside the hand written report. "I hate bio. Can you help me?"
Elena put down the tea she was making, willing herself not to groan. Jeremy knew science and writing came easily to Elena, but she always paid attention in class. She was also interested in the subjects, Jeremy was not.
"Jer, just rewrite the last part. Here, let me help you," Elena offered, taking the empty seat beside him. "There, add that."
Elena made some changes, referring to the biology text book in front of her.
Jeremy smirked, "Oh, I could give you ten bucks and you could finish it for me?"
"Jer!" Elena scoffed. "Ten bucks? Screw you. Do it yourself!"
"Okay, twenty, but that's all I have," Jeremy whined.
Ric came in to get a drink.
"Hey guys, it's getting late. April and Jenna are already in bed. Why don't you head up?" Ric said.
"I have to finish this paper! It's due tomorrow," Jeremy complained.
Ric peered over and looked at the notebook.
"It looks like you are almost done. Just revise it as you are typing," Ric suggested, getting a water out of the fridge.
The house land line rang. Ric reached over and answered it.
"Oh, hey Klaus. What's up?" Ric said. "...Tonight? It's kinda late...Oh, okay, then. Let me call Dorian. He said the Armory has tightened things up but he may be able to send us some digital files. I'll call you back."
Ric hung up and cursed, "Shit. I guess I'm on the Mikaelsons' pay roll now!"
"Ric," Elena chuckled. "What language?"
"Sorry," Ric replied, pulling out his cell phone. "Jeremy, go on up. I'll check on you in a little while. You could always get up early and finish it..."
Elena laughed, "No, he won't. Did something happen with Stefan and Damon? Should I be worried?"
Ric paused, "Um, no, well..."
"Tell me, Ric!" Elena pleaded.
"Jeremy, head upstairs," Ric said again. "And that paper should have been done over the weekend!"
"Yeah, yeah," Jeremy mumbled. "I forgot about it."
"I'm getting you a homework planner," Ric hollered after him. He turned to Elena, who was waiting expectantly.
"Ah, I guess you should know. Katherine Pierce showed up. She's involved in trying to open that tomb. They are going to call Bonnie, I guess. Um, I hate to tell you this, but there is a chance Damon could be possessed still," Ric said with a furrow in his brow. He worried about Jeremy and Elena getting involved again. He just wanted the kids to focus on high school, not all this old vampire drama.
"Oh no," Elena said. "Stefan mentioned that Damon has been weird, but he's Damon. I don't know if Bonnie's cousin is gonna go for this. You know how witches try to stay out of it!"
"Yeah, well, the Mikaelsons are pretty good at pooling their resources," Ric mentioned. "I have to contact my old buddy and try to get them some information about the Travelers. Promise me that you'll try to stay out of this one. And if Katherine bothers you-."
Elena cut him off, saying, "I know. Call someone. Throw vervain in her stupid face. I know the drill."
Ric smiled, "I know you do. You're taking your vervain?"
"Yep, twice a day. I put some in my tea," Elena assured him. It had an odd flower-like taste, but she was getting used to it.
Ric almost said something about her late father, Dr. Gilbert and the Augustines, but he stopped himself. He promised himself that he would sit down, maybe at the lake this weekend and talk to her. Ric had asked Jeremy to keep that quiet until they knew more. But in reality, Ric was concerned about how she would take the news.
"Good. You get used to the taste," Ric said dryly. "Well, adding some honey in your tea will mask the taste. I think it tastes like sh-crap."
Elena gave Ric a thumbs up.
"I'll try it. Now, you better help your friend," Elena said, yawning. "I have to get my cheer stuff ready for practice tomorrow. Night."
"Night, Elena," Ric said, calling Dorian. He remembered the large check from Elijah in his wallet. He was certainly on the payroll now for sure.
Bennett House
Lucy paced as Elijah explained the situation. Bonnie sat on the couch holding the phone. Their eyes widened as they heard that Emily Bennett's grimoire was now located. Sheila, Bonnie's grams, had collected a large number of family grimoires, but this one was special.
"That grimoire belongs with our family," Lucy said firmly.
Bonnie interrupted, "Elijah, I'm not sure what you want us to do. I already did the cleansing spell, if that didn't work..."
Elijah's voice clarified, saying, "No, we will need to use Traveler magic and perhaps the blade to rid Damon of this so-called passenger. What we need is from the both of you is to ensure that that cave is sealed. If Katherine is involved, I fear the repercussions of it being opened again."
Bonnie exhaled, "My Grams died sealing that tomb. I think it's fine..."
Lucy winced. "But if you didn't use the original spell, there could be a loophole that would allow it to be opened. If we can seal it again using the spell Emily worked, then no one could get it. Not without our blood and our magic."
Bonnie shrugged, "Okay, I see your point. We can try."
Elijah replied, "There is more. Damon bit Katherine infecting her with werewolf venom. It's moving quickly and festering. Could you come over and take a look at it?"
"Now?" Lucy asked.
"Yes, I'm afraid that she might not have the luxury of time. The venom is like nothing I've ever seen. It's, um, eating away at her arm," Elijah revealed.
Bonnie laughed, "Good, let that bitch rot. She deserves it."
"Bonnie!" Lucy chided. "Elijah, we'll be over."
"Oh, there is one more thing," Elijah said smoothly. "The grimoire is encoded. Perhaps Emily spelled it to protect it from prying eyes?"
Lucy said with confidence, "We'll be able to read it. That one is a family secret. Give us fifteen minutes."
"Thank you. We would be most grateful," Elijah said, disconnecting the call.
Bonnie shut her phone and glared at Lucy.
"So, we can help vampires when they ask politely?" Bonnie fumed.
"We need that spell book, Bon. It's our family legacy. You think they are going to just hand it over? Emily was the strongest witch in our line. Now, get your shoes on," Lucy directed.
Bonnie leaned back and relaxed a moment.
"Gram's spell is good," Bonnie confirmed. "I mean that night was pretty messed up, but I think it should hold."
"Yeah, but we can't be sure. Now, up," Lucy encouraged. "Don't make me get the spoon!"
"Yeah, try it," Bonnie snapped. "And we'll see who the strongest witch is now in our line!"
Lucy's eyes narrowed, "What did you say?"
Bonnie sat up. "Come on, Luce. I was joking. I'm getting up, but fuck if I want to..."
Lucy stomped off to the kitchen and came back with a large wooden spoon.
"Over the couch. I'm tired of your attitude and this rudeness," Lucy warned. "You may be stronger than me, but I am your elder. You will respect me. Up!"
"Lucy," Bonnie whined. "I was just kidding. Don't be a bitch about it!"
"You want a mouth soaping, too?" Lucy threatened, pulling Bonnie up by her arm and leaning her over.
Bonnie had to brace her hands on the cushion, leaving her bottom exposed.
Whap! Whap!
"Owwww," Bonnie yelped, throwing a hand back.
"You are going to learn to listen or I'm going to blister your buns every day. Move that hand or I'll smack it," Lucy demanded.
Bonnie groaned and moved her hand back, defeated.
Whap! Whap! Whap! Whap!
Whap! Whap! Whap! Whap!
Lucy pelted each cheek four times hard on the same spot.
"Ouch! Damn," Bonnie wailed.
"You gonna listen and stop being a brat?" Lucy asked, tapping the spoon on Bonnie's behind.
"Yeah," Bonnie proclaimed.
Whap! Whap!
"Try again," Lucy said sternly.
Whap! Whap!
"Yes, ma'am!" Bonnie gulped. The swats stung over her thin shorts.
Whap! Whap! Whap! Whap!
Whap! Whap! Whap! Whap!
Lucy paddled her eight more times before ordering her up.
"Now, get your shoes on and throw on some pants," Lucy said. "And the next time you threaten me with magic, you won't sit for a week!"
"Sorry," Bonnie said tearfully.
Lucy sighed and helped Bonnie up, wrapping her in a tight hug. Bonnie didn't want to accept but she knew Lucy still had the spoon. Her father, Rudy, had made it clear that Lucy was now in charge.
"I know, Bon," Lucy said tenderly. "Wipe your face. And I don't know who this Katherine is, but I don't want to hear you calling any woman the b-word. Clear?"
"You haven't met her yet! She's a demon," Bonnie protested. Lucy turned Bonnie and gave her one last crack on her stinging bottom.
Whap!
"Bonnie!" Lucy reprimanded.
"Yes, ma'am," Bonnie said dutifully as she rubbed her rear. She would have to start wearing thicker shorts and maybe several pairs of underwear.
Gilbert Residence
Jeremy flung his textbook and notebook, aiming for the bed and missing. He felt a sense of satisfaction when both toppled to the floor.
"Fucking waste of time," Jeremy hissed to himself. He heard a tap on the window. He looked but didn't see anything, then, it happened again.
"What the hell?" Jeremy said, then he saw Anna's face. He rushed over and opened the window.
"Hey," Anna said casually.
"Anna or Annabelle, I should say. What are you doing here?" Jeremy hissed. The last thing he needed was for Ric and Jenna to catch him with the vampire in his room.
"I need to explain," Annabelle said. "Can I come in?"
"No!" Jeremy whispered. "You've already gotten me in enough trouble. What do you want? Tell me or I'm going to call for help."
Anna looked around Jeremy's room with admiration.
"I like your room. It's messy, but so you," Annabelle smiled.
Jeremy rolled his eyes.
"You used me. Don't stand there or...fly there and try to play nice. What do you want?" Jeremy repeated.
Anna smirked, "I can't fly. I just jumped up here using that linden tree. Jeremy, the truth is, that you're my only friend. I just wanted to explain."
"Well, go on. No one is stopping you," Jeremy retorted.
"I'm sorry about not being honest," Anna apologized. "I've been trying to get my mom out of that tomb for almost 150 years. Can you understand what that is like?"
"No, not really," Jeremy admitted. "But what did you want with the journal?"
"Information," Annabelle confirmed. "I guess it's no secret now, but Katherine said she would help me. She needed the grimoire and didn't know where it was hidden. Now, she's not taking my calls and had ditched me. I'm all alone."
Jeremy saw the pain and loneliness in Anna's dark eyes. He had felt that way, too.
"Fine, come in. But you can't stay," Jeremy confirmed, opening the window window and giving her a hand.
"Thanks," Annabelle said, sitting stiffly on Jeremy's bed. He was surprised to see her in pants, but if she really did climb the tree, it made sense. "Really, I don't want anything. I just want to talk."
"Really?" Jeremy asked. "I'm on vervain, you can't compel me."
"That's smart," Anna confirmed. "Have you missed me, too?"
"After what you did? I thought you were going to kill me," Jeremy snapped, trying not to raise his voice.
"I would never do something like that," Anna said in a small voice. "I just wanted my mother back."
"Well, I can't help you. I'm sorry," Jeremy said.
"I know that now," Anna said sadly. "The truth is that my mother would be furious if she knew what I did to get her out. I'd probably get a good dose of her slipper if she was around. She's a very moral person. Strict, but loving...And she thought everyone was like her. Honest. I guess that is how she got betrayed, she never would have believed that Katherine would be so underhanded."
"Yeah, well, she tried to kidnap my sister. She's a psycho," Jeremy scoffed.
"I thought your sister was Katherine at first, you know, pretending to be human. When I realized that she was human, I almost lost it and gave up hope," Anna confided in a soft voice.
"Wait! How long have you been lurking around?" Jeremy demanded.
"Not long," Anna admitted. "But long enough to realize that I'm not the only vampire in town."
"That's an understatement," Jeremy mused, finally smiling. He sat on the bed next to her, wanting to touch her.
"Yeah, I learned to keep a low profile and act as a kid. I'm invisible that way, but I see things, Jeremy," Anna stated. "Can you ever forgive me?"
Anna stared into Jeremy's eyes and leaned in.
"Jeremy! Let me in," Elena said from the connecting bathroom door.
Jeremy whispered, "Shit. It's my sister. You've got to go!"
Anna nodded and started towards the window.
"Jeremy, will you at least call me? I don't have anyone to talk to now that Katherine abandoned me...," Anna said quietly.
"Yes, sure. I'll call. Just go," Jeremy said, helping her back out on the roof.
"You promise?" Anna asked, right before he shut the window.
"Yeah, bye," Jeremy said, slamming the window shut. He raced to open the bathroom door.
"Are you smoking again?" Elena accused.
Jeremy cringed, "No? Do you smell smoke?"
"No, but I thought I heard voices," Elena accused, looking around. "And I should have known you wouldn't do jack on this paper."
"Did you reconsider my offer?" Jeremy asked with a smile.
"Yeah, I need the money," Elena confirmed. "Give me the book and the cash."
Jeremy picked up the discarded items.
"I hope you can work fast," Jeremy said, going into his ceramic piggy bank. "I'm paying top dollar. I want an A."
Elena took the rumbled notebook and heavy textbook.
"Maybe a B+," Elena agreed. "Don't get greedy."
"Yeah, whatever. I'm bushed. I'm going to bed. I need the paper by second hour tomorrow," Jeremy said anxiously, dangling the twenty dollar bill in front of her face.
"Give me that," Elena said, juggling the books and taking the bill. "You shall have it. Are you sure you don't have someone in here?"
Jeremy splayed out his hands, "Take a look. And you're the one who used to sneak Stefan up here all the time!"
Elena nodded, "And then Damon...But remember, this stays between us. If Ric finds out, I don't want him paddling my butt. Got it?"
"Yeah, my ass is on the line, too," Jeremy confirmed. "Now, could you get out? I need to sleep."
Mikaelson Mansion
Cellar
Damon dreamt of Giuseppe again. He and Stefan had talked about the Civil War, the months after, and then about Giuseppe again.
"He was your first kill," Damon remarked.
"Yeah, maybe that's why I became a ripper? His tainted blood did something to me. Who knows?" Stefan had said.
Damon smirked, picturing the scene.
"That will leave me with sweet dreams. You head up. I don't want you getting in trouble with Elijah," Damon cautioned.
"I'm not afraid of him," Stefan snarked.
"You should be," Damon warned. "I kind of am."
The brothers laughed and Stefan promised to come back before school.
Nadia had called out saying that Katherine was losing it.
"I think she needs to be restrained," Nadia whispered.
"I'll send someone down," Stefan promised. "I'm sorry you got dragged into all this."
Nadia thanked him, but said, "She's my mother. I spent my whole life searching for her. I can't lose her now."
Stefan nodded and then vamped up to the main level of the house. Elijah said he'd get some chains and take care of it.
Damon tried to listen to all of it, but felt himself falling into a state of exhaustion. He awoke in the same cold sweat he had when he was human. Damon thought about his trick with the fog. It has been surprisingly easy to do. Damon's cell phone rang and he answered it.
"Jaryakata zem, daryet acza," a foreign voice rasped.
"What the-," Damon started, his blue eyes turning jet black.
Wisps of fog started to appear in the dank basement cell, but Damon hadn't tried.
"Oh shit," Damon cursed, falling back asleep.
Damon's form got up and raced to the cell door. With a terrible groan, the door was ripped off its' hinges. The fog rolled into the corridor and Damon's body was soon gone.
Nadia heard the sound, but couldn't see.
"Help! Something is happening," Nadia shrieked.
Elijah vamped down with the chains and handed them through the barred window to Nadia.
"Here, chain your mother," Elijah said. "I need to check on Damon."
With horror, Elijah surveyed the metal door on the ground as the fog dissipated. His nephew was gone.
"Niklaus! Come down here. We have a problem," Elijah shouted. Klaus appeared a moment later.
"Where is my son?" Klaus roared.
"He's gone. There was a strange fog," Elijah said. "Dammit, we should have chained him also. They got to him."
Klaus opened his phone.
"Ric sent the pages from the Traveler spell book that Dorian had found. He thinks that is the body jumping spell. Bonnie and Lucy are on their way, no?" Klaus demanded. They raced to the garage as Klaus knew he hadn't come upstairs. The garage doors were open and the SUV was gone.
"He must have hotwired it," Klaus fumed.
"Yes. You go track him. Here, take my phone. They can start to prepare the spell. Get him back here, Niklaus. If anyone can track him, it's you," Elijah said. "There is a program that tracks the vehicles. Follow that dot."
Klaus looked and nodded, "I'll find him and those blasted Travelers. They are finished!"
"Wait, take Kol with you," Elijah added.
"Why not Rebekah?" Klaus said impatiently. "She's fought by our side for centuries."
"She's dyeing her hair," Elijah revealed. "Just get Kol and go. Oh, I almost forgot. Ric's friend thinks your blood can heal a werewolf bite. Give me some of your blood. Katherine isn't doing well."
Klaus didn't care about Katerina Petrova, but they would need the daughter perhaps. He bit into his wrist with his fangs. Klaus emptied out an antique wine glass, dusty from the garage and filled it with blood from his wrist.
"You couldn't have picked a cleaner glass," Elijah noted. "Never mind. Take one of the Porsches, you may need the speed. Kol!"
Kol vamped into the garage.
"Bloody hell, Elijah. I washed the dishes. What now?" Kol complained.
"No time to explain. Damon's gone. Go with Niklaus," Elijah demanded.
"Can I drive?" Kol asked.
"Kol! Get in the fucking car," Klaus yelled.
Traveler Camp
"He's here," a Traveler yelled to the collection of tents and rusted RVs circling a large bonfire.
Markos parked the vehicle and got out triumphantly.
"My followers, I have arrived," Markos, in Damon's body, announced.
A roar of cheers rang out.
"But we haven't much time," Markos yelled. "They will be behind me. Does everyone know what to do? I wish to be in this body until the end, which if we are lucky will be soon. Then, we shall never have to flee again!"
A woman came out and raised her hands.
"Then, we must start the spell," a pretty Black woman in a full skirt and peasant blouse said.
"Yes, my beautiful witch, began," Markos said.
"I like this new form," the witch purred, kissing him on the lips. Markos grabbed her around the waist.
"Wait until you see what I can do," Markos offered.
"Oh, I've been with a hybrid before," the woman teased.
Markos roared with laughter and spun her, "But have you been with a tribrid?"
"Not yet," the woman cackled.
Markos narrowed his black eyes, "Well, hurry, because if they come too soon, you will never get the chance."
Mikaelson Mansion
Nadia chained up Katherine with difficulty, getting a few bites in the process. Elijah came in with the cup of wine.
"Hold her tightly, my dear," Elijah said. "This may cure her. My nephew is gone and my brothers gone after. Please, is there anything else you recalled?"
Nadia thought frantically, "I think that the leader has special powers. They worship them almost as a god. The only way they could be together is to inhabit a different body, yet they would keep their original bodies close. If I remember correctly, they would keep them in a wagon guarded by dogs. Trained dogs. If you can find and destroy them, the passengers will die."
"Klaus has a blade, will he need that?" Elijah asked.
Katherine made a gurgling sound. "She's dying!"
"Help me," Elijah said. "She needs to drink this."
Nadia held Katherine's head up while Elijah forced the blood in her mouth. The effect was instantaneous.
"Oh, thank you, Elijah," Katherine gasped, her arm healing. "You always were the real lord of the manor. Klaus should have been following you around."
"Katherine, Damon is gone," Elijah explained. "The passenger has gotten a hold of him. Klaus is trying to rescue him."
"Jaryakata zem, daryet acza," Katherine repeated. "He needs to say that backwards when they...find. Oh hell, help me up. We need to go."
"You're still too weak. But those dogs will tear us apart and you need the spell," Nadia protested.
"We have the spell and I have someone who may help with the dogs, but it's too dangerous," Elijah spat.
"They will end the world as we know it. I didn't care before, but I have a daughter to protect. Feed me your blood, Elijah. We need to go to them," Katherine acknowledged, sitting up with effort. "Now."
Elijah offered Katherine his jugular and let her drink deeply. Bonnie and Lucy arrived and then he went and got Julian out of bed, hating himself in the process.
Traveler Camp
"Niklaus, we are on our way," Elijah said, calling his own cell to speak with his brother. "Find a tent or vehicle surrounded by dogs. I'm bringing Julian to control them. Bonnie and Lucy are looking over the spell."
Sage drove the SUV as Elijah spoke. He got directions from Klaus and looked at the map he had.
"We're here, but there are far too many of them for Kol and I to take on ourselves. They are doing some sort of spell," Klaus reported. "There are hundreds here..."
"Wait, they are near Fell's Church," Elijah noted. "I may have an idea that could work..."
Bonnie took the map.
"The cave. It's not far from that site. Elijah, are you thinking...? No, it's too dangerous," Bonnie warned, shoving the map back in his hands.
"Review the spell," Elijah said. "Yes, we need to open the tomb. Enzo, there's a cooler of blood bags in the back. We'll let the vampires do the dirty work for us."
Julian woke up, "Daddy, where are we?"
"Son, I'm so sorry. Can you do me a favor? I need you to talk to some dogs for us," Elijah said warmly.
"Only if I can have one," Julian said, perking up.
"Here, have a juice box," Elijah said. "You do this for us and you can have your pick of pets."
"I can feel it. His power coursing through me," Markos gasped. His true body was preserved in the RV. Once the spell was completed, he would have no more use for it. Then, they could destroy their enemies on the Other Side and be free. All the dead supernaturals would rise and a new world order of Travelers would dominant. It was their time now...
They had dropped off Enzo, Bonnie, and Lucy to unseal the tomb and lure out the cave vamps.
Elijah pointed to a large RV, nicer than the rest, saying to Julian, "There. I see the dogs. Julian, I want you to stay in the car. We'll lure them over. Do not get out of this car. I don't want you hurt. Rebekah will stay with you."
"Okay, Daddy. There are a lot of dogs," Julian quipped. "They look hungry."
"They probably keep them that way on purpose," Rebekah scoffed. Her hair was now streaked with pink and still damp. But 'family above all' so she had come.
Elijah had shared the magic words with Klaus and Katherine was back to full strength.
"Let us out here," Katherine demanded. "We'll find Klaus and get Damon out of there. The one thing my father let me know about Travelers is how to reverse their possession..."
"You could have told us this sooner," Elijah said dryly, holding his son tightly before handing him to Rebekah.
"Yeah, well, you could have stopped your brother from...Hell, we don't have time. Good luck," Katherine said. "Nadia, I have this. Stay here."
"The hell I will," Nadia said, getting out of the SUV.
"You know, I'm still your mother," Katherine snapped. "We'll talk about this later and get some things straight, young lady."
"Whatever," Nadia said in her Czech accent.
Elijah followed them and whistled to the dogs. The leader of the pack rushed toward the Original vampire as Nadia and Katherine disappeared.
Elijah grabbed the large German Shepherd and brought it to the window as the rest of the pack ran around the RV.
"Talk to the leader. Tell him to obey and let us near the RV," Elijah said quietly, holding the snarling dog's head so Julian could look it in the eyes.
"He's hungry, Daddy," Julian said, closing his eyes to concentrate.
"Okay, they will go away but they want something to eat."
"But there is good food in the RV," Elijah smiled. "I'll open the door for them and they can eat well tonight."
Rebekah made a horrified face.
"Julian, are you sure you don't want a cat?" Rebekah tried.
"Yes, but I want a dog, too. And one for Indy!" Julian prattled.
"Okay," Rebekah said, as she saw the doors torn off the RV in a blur to the human eye. Elijah was back in the SUV in a flash. His fine suit was torn and the bites he sustained healed, leaving bloody scraps of fabric around them.
"Daddy, you're hurt!" Julian squeaked, jumping back in Elijah's arms.
"Oh, I'm fine. You did a good job," Elijah said, hugging him.
"He wants two dogs now," Rebekah quipped. "One for Indy, too."
As the famished dogs tore apart the Travelers' bodies in the dark, Elijah put Julian back in a seat and started the SUV. He didn't want Julian hearing the sounds.
Five Minutes Before
Klaus sensed Katherine and Nadia and turned.
"About time," Klaus snarled.
"What my brother means is thank you," Kol chirped. "So what is the plan? Rush them?"
Katherine's eyes flicked over the scene.
"Kol, get a stake," Katherine demanded.
Nadia took a breath, "We need to buy some time."
"Klaus, kill that witch. She's doing the spell. Grab Damon or who ever the hell that is and restrain him. I'll say the words," Katherine determined.
"But what about the spell? And the others?" Klaus protested.
Nadia listened, "I think they will be taken care of...Better hurry."
Kol and Katherine vamped to the Markos figure and grabbed him, breaching the circle of flames that surrounded him. Sage and Rebekah backed up the others by baring their fangs. They swiped the heads off of any that got too close.
"Stay back or we'll kill him!" Kol warned, holding the sharp end of a branch to Markos' heart. "It's white oak. We'll do it."
It was a lie, but the Travelers held back.
Klaus vamped to the pretty Black witch and said, "Hello, darling. Time to meet your maker!"
The witch turned, "Klaus, don't! It's me, Greta!"
Klaus was taken aback. "No, she's dead," Klaus said.
The voice was different, but the eyes...It was his Greta!
"No, they put me in a different body. It's better this way," Greta enthused. "It's a New World Order. The dead will rise. My mother, my grandmother...Your family. All those who crossed into the Other Side will rise again. All Markos needs do is allow me to finish the spell. Isn't it wonderful?"
Some of the Travelers suddenly fell to the ground writhing in agony. This gave Klaus a second to think.
"What's happening?" Someone yelled.
Markos roared, "Hurry up. They found our bodies! If I die, so do the rest of you. Defend me. Greta, now!"
The Travelers started to attack and the assembled vampires started to fight them off, three or four to one.
Klaus' eyes hardened. He thought about his mother and Mikael...But his true father, Ansel, would come back? No, it would bring about armageddon. Klaus kissed Greta on the lips and then slipped the Traveler blade into her heart.
"Goodbye, my love," Klaus whispered as her eyes grew dull.
"No!" Markos roared, accessing Damon's hybrid side. The coal black eyes lit with orange and the figure roared. His fangs came out and he tried to bite Nadia, but Kol blocked it with his hand. The stake entered Damon's chest, but Kol didn't plunge it all the way in.
"Damon, I know you are in there. Fight," Kol breathed, pulling out the stake. He knew Damon was stronger in his hybrid state. Soon, waves of fog and birds descended to attack the other Travelers, still standing. Only the most elite carted their bodies around, the others were more vulnerable.
Enzo ran into the clearing, leading the starving cave vampires.
"Feed off of them," Enzo yelled, splashing blood on the Travelers. Bonnie and Lucy cast circles of protection around Damon as the cave vamps tore apart the shrieking Travelers.
Katherine ran to Damon, yelling the spell in reverse, his father's words ringing in her ears, "Jaryakata zem, daryet acza!"
"Help me," Damon croaked.
"Klaus, the blade," Katherine yelled, as Klaus staggered forward. He had been killing the Travelers who were still alive. Klaus threw the blade to her and she plunged it into Damon's heart saying the words again.
"Jaryakata zem, daryet acza," Katherine intoned, blood darkening her pale hands.
Damon's blue eyes opened and fluttered.
"Kill me once, shame on me. Kill me twice...," Damon groaned. "That hurt."
"I didn't kill you the first time, you fool," Katherine corrected. "But I have to admit that felt good."
"Behind you," Nadia roared. Bonnie felled the Traveler with an aneurysm spell.
Klaus wiped the blood from his face with his shaking hand and went over and embraced Damon and Kol.
He said to Katherine, "I thought you said you didn't need the blade?"
Katherine rolled her eyes, saying, "Like I listened to half the crap my father said. I thought he was senile. But you're welcome."
Klaus hugged them and opened his arms for Enzo, finally muttering, "Thank you, Katerina. You came through."
Nadia hugged her mother tightly.
"See? She's not so bad," Nadia said, flipping her long dark hair. Enzo smiled at the beautiful vampire, but she ignored him.
"Okay, how about you all get off your asses and start burning these bodies before those weird crows peck out our eyes," Katherine snapped.
"Yeah, I got that," Damon said. "But you owe me a nice shirt, Katherine."
"Don't hold your breath," Katherine said. "But maybe you could put in a good word with Stefan for me."
"Not a chance," Damon said, looking around. The dogs were now rampaging the bodies of the Travelers. "Say, where is Stefan?"
Katherine smirked, "Elijah thought he was too emotional. He chained him up."
"He what?" Damon yelled.
Klaus shrugged, "Come on. Let's clean up here."
Stefan's red Porsche roared into the scene. He ran out, sweaty with his hair messed up.
"Damon, it's you?" Stefan breathed.
"Yeah, thanks for showing up," Damon laughed, hugging him.
"I'm going to need to have a word with Elijah," Stefan moaned.
"Get in line," Klaus quipped. "Now, does anyone have any petrol?"
