Mikaelson Mansion
Late Afternoon
"Hi Lucy," Rebekah said politely, dumping her backpack, cheerleading stuff, and purse on the kitchen floor. Bonnie had driven Rebekah home after getting the message from Lucy to stop by the mansion.
Lucy smiled and greeted the girls.
A velvet cloth dabbled with shiny dark blue and black stones was laid out. Lucy was sorting through them carefully. She was looking at certain stones under a 10x jeweler's loupe.
"Hey guys, hope you didn't get too worn out from practice. I'm just going through this black kyanite. I've never seen it before. It's so rare."
"Hey cuz," Bonnie said. "So looks like we are going to be busy..."
Lucy said, "You can say that again. There's some kind of salad in the frig. Not sure what it is, but it's really good. Get some and then we can go over the spells."
Rebekah dug through the frig.
"Got it. Yes, Elijah is not a bad cook. Where is everyone?" Rebekah said, taking out a wooden bowl and some plates.
"Ah, Damon, Klaus, and Enzo are going through magical supplies. They wanted to test some kind of bracelet of obedience on me, but I told them I'd explode their brains. Just a head's up, Bon," Lucy laughed. "I think the kids are messing around with the python. They set it up in the former ballroom which looks like it is turning into...something else. Kol went up to change and never came back down. Aaron was throwing a fit about paint. Wes might be in his room drinking. Not sure."
"Sounds like a typical day around here," Rebekah said, giving Bonnie her salad. "Oh, try this bread, too."
Rebekah put a crusty roll on Bonnie's plate.
"Yeah, after that workout, not worried about carbs," Bonnie said, her mouth full.
Rebekah laughed and got herself some blood. She poured Bonnie and Lucy some water from a pitcher.
"What exactly are you looking for?" Rebekah asked, sitting down at the island.
"Oh, I'm looking for stones that are free from flaws," Lucy said, examining another one under the glass of the loupe.
"Here, I can probably see better," Rebekah offered, shoving a forkful of salad into her mouth. "So no cracks or chips?"
"Yeah, I think so," Lucy said. "We'll have to enchant these tomorrow night under the light of the full moon."
Rebekah leaned over and found three or four stones that looked near flawless to her Original vampire eyes.
"Hey, thanks. That helps," Lucy said gratefully. "We'll also need some silver to craft them into rings that the wolves can wear."
"I thought that silver was toxic to werewolves," Bonnie said, taking a sip of her water.
"That's a myth. I believe Klaus said that werewolves actually heal faster from silver," Lucy said, picking up the old spell book beside her.
"Yes, that's true," Rebekah said quietly. "Is that my mother's grimoire?"
Lucy looked up, saying, "Yes, I believe so."
"I haven't seen that in a very long time," Rebekah said quietly. "May I?"
Lucy nodded and handed Rebekah the old tome.
"I think she was disappointed I never showed any signs of being interested in magic," Rebekah said, flipping through. "It was her life, aside from taking care of all of us. But Kol was the only one who had any talent for it."
"'Speak of the devil and he doth appear,'" Kol said, seeming to appear out of nowhere.
"Ah," Bonnie said, dropping her bread on the floor. "Kol, you scared the crap out of me!"
"Sorry, Bonnie," Kol snickered. He took Lucy's hand and kissed it. "Hullo again, luv, made any progress?"
Lucy rolled her eyes and pulled her hand away, wiping it on her shirt.
"I'd wash that, Lucy," Rebekah said, putting down the grimoire. "I have to wash my hair."
"What's with her?" Kol asked, noticing Rebekah's half eaten salad.
"I think it's you," Bonnie replied. "And Rebekah helped Lucy. Guess you were too busy, bathing in cologne."
Bonnie coughed and waved Kol away.
"What? Stefan said the ladies like it," Kol answered. "Maybe I used too much?"
Lucy laughed, "Yeah, you're not supposed to bathe in it."
"Oh," Kol said, picking up the spell book and flipping to the moonlight ring page. "Have everything you need for the spell?"
"I can't read that, remember?" Lucy prodded. "Luckily, there are pictures of the herbs and stones, but the rest is mumble jumble to us. You never finished writing the rest down for us."
"Oh, right," Kol said, rattling off the ingredients, as Lucy wrote down the rest on a piece of loose leaf paper.
Lucy chewed on the end of the pen she was using.
"Even with both Bonnie and me casting, I'm not sure we have enough power. We might have to link with you or...use Damon," Lucy reported after a moment.
"You can use me as your magical battery anytime, Lucy," Kol smirked. "But the boy ought to start earning his keep around here. I am going to find him right now. Do not fear, ladies, I have done this before."
"You trained witches as powerful as Damon?" Lucy asked incredulously. "I find that hard to believe."
"Ah, well, maybe not as powerful, but who do you think had all those dark objects crafted? Aye, it twas me," Kol bragged. "Of course, it did not always go as planned."
Bonnie stood and picked up the breadstick throwing it in the trash.
"Um, Kol, you are going to be careful with Damon, right?" Bonnie asked, giving him a look.
"Of course," Kol said, with a bow. "It's my duty. Now, if you need nothing else, excuse me."
"Don't forget to study for that history quiz," Bonnie called out, as Kol went to find Damon. "British history, 19th century."
"Wasn't he like alive then?" Lucy wondered.
"Yeah, but they were in New Orleans. It's not like they had t.v. or radio," Bonnie explained.
"They had newspapers," Lucy argued.
"Does he seem like he ever read a newspaper?" Bonnie pressed.
Lucy laughed, "No, not really. Help me bag up these other stones. I think five rings should be enough."
Bonnie frowned, "This is Mystic Falls, I think we better make some extras. You never know when more wolves will show up."
"True," Lucy said. "Isn't that salad good?"
"Yes," Bonnie said. "Rebekah must really be annoyed with him."
"Yeah, wonder what that is about," Lucy inquired, going back to the stones.
Ball Room
Rebekah heard voices coming out of the West wing into the ball room area. It had been closed off as Klaus hadn't have time to renovate it. She opened the partially shut door and walked in. There was a huge reptile case as well as a pool table and a fish tank.
"Auntie Bex, look at Mr. Slithers! Daddy got him off of the rafters," Indy cheered.
Rebekah patted the heads of the dogs as they greeted her and picked up Indy.
"Oh wow, he looks rather content," Rebekah noted.
Elijah smiled as showed off the large tank. "Only the best for Mr. Slithers, it is heat controlled and large enough that he can move about."
Julian peered into the tank.
"He's tired. He had a big lunch," Julian said intently.
"I do not want to know what that was," Rebekah admitted.
"No, you don't," Elijah answered. "We thought we would turn this into a sort of recreation room for the family. Ava said she likes fish so we are setting her up a tank."
Ava smiled shyly and looked up at the beautiful blood vampire. Rebekah put Indy down and knelt beside Ava.
"Hi Ava, how are you today?" Rebekah asked.
"Fine, thank you," Ava said shyly, her hand covering her scar.
"I was just going to go up and fix my hair, maybe paint my nails. Who would like to come with me?" Rebekah announced.
"We do, we do," Indy shouted, hopping up.
"But I thought we were going for a walk?" Elijah prompted, winking at Rebekah.
"You and Julian go, Daddy. Ava and I want to go with Auntie Bex," Indy responded.
"If it's okay with Julian," Elijah said, looking at the boy.
"I don't want to do anything with hair," Julian said. "But I would like to talk to the rabbits tonight..."
Rebekah took Ava and Indy by the hand.
"Come on, girls," Rebekah said. She felt badly that she hadn't spent more time with Ava, the little girl was quiet and seemed sad today.
When they got to Rebekah's room, Indy ran over to the make up table.
"Can I put on your lipstick?" Indy asked.
"Sure," Rebekah said, helping her get some out. "Ava, have you even seen my bathroom? It is a Jacuzzi. Maybe you and Indy can put on your swimsuits one day and we can pretend to be mermaids? Come, I'll show you."
Ava followed Rebekah into the large bathroom. The tub was pink marble and certainly large enough for a whole family.
"It's big, like a pond," Ava stated, her eyes wide.
"Yes," Rebekah sat, sitting on the edge. "You know, I noticed you covering up your face. Does your burn still itch?"
Ava shook her head, her braids shaking.
"No, not anymore," Ava said in a small voice. She picked up a bowl of soaps and smelled on.
"You can have that," Rebekah said. "You know, you are still a very beautiful little girl, Ava. Look at me, you know I wouldn't lie to you, right?"
Ava's hazel eyes filled with tears.
"I know I'm ugly now," Ava said, with a tear slipping down her cheek. "I can see myself."
Rebekah got up and tried to embrace the child, but the little girl pulled away.
"Stop, luv," Rebekah said, almost weeping herself. "They tried to hurt you, but they only made you more interesting. That scar is a part of you now. Don't let it make you think you are less than anyone else."
Ava sniffed, "But you are real pretty. I'll never look like you."
Rebekah grabbed Ava's hands.
"My sweet, you have more magic and power in you than I have had for a thousand years. The things you can do, no one can do. That is very special, isn't it?"
Ava nodded and peered at her "good" side in the mirror. She smiled, "You really think I am beautiful?"
"Look at me, child," Rebekah demanded, finally hugging her without resistance. "I know it. Now, would you like to put on some make up or do nails? You pick."
"Make up," Ava grinned as Rebekah let her go. "I never put it on before."
"Come, I'll help you," Rebekah said, as she leaned down and kissed the burned side of her face. "But the key is to have fun with it."
"Where are you guys?" Indy hollered.
"We're coming," Ava yelled back, now smiling. Somehow, in Rebekah's presence, she felt whole again.
Woods by Mikaelson Mansion
"Now, just picture the leaves lifting," Kol coaxed as Damon closed his eyes. "Feel the power from the Earth."
They had been at it for 45 minutes and Damon was getting frustrated. It seemed like he couldn't case a spell unless he was enraged or someone was going to die.
"Anything?" Damon asked, one eye opening.
"Shite," Kol answered, wondering if he lost his touch.
"Want me to have my brother give Bonnie your car again? That got you right cheesed off," Kol said, kicking the leaves with his feet.
"No, because I really don't want Bonnie to know that I am a failure as a witch!" Damon admitted. "I'm supposed to be so powerful yet I can't control a freaking cricket at this point."
"You can control birds and make fog," Kol pointed out.
"Yeah, and that's so fucking useful," Damon scoffed.
"You seem tired. Why don't you go rest and we'll pick up with it a bit later," Kol suggested.
"Yeah, I need a drink," Damon said, stalking off.
"I need a smoke," Kol said to himself, walking a bit further into the woods.
Damon found Elijah and Julian throwing the ball with the dogs closer to the house. Damon noticed that for once, Elijah wasn't wearing the suit. He had on black pants and a golf shirt.
"Catch, Damon!" Julian said, throwing the ball at a run. It landed twenty feet away.
"Hey, not fair. Bad throw!" Damon quipped, running to get the ball, but losing it to Andrei. "He's too fast for me."
Andrei ran off and Julian chased after him.
"Julian doesn't seem to run out of energy," Elijah said, walking closer to Damon. It was starting to get dark out, a few stars were popping out in the sky above.
"No, doesn't seem like it. I was going to head up to take a nap," Damon said. "Kol was trying to teach me some spells. It didn't go real well."
Elijah nodded, "That is to be expected, Damon. It will take time. Like any worthwhile pursuit-."
"Yeah, save it," Damon said. "I got the speech from Kol. Plus, what do you know about it?"
"I had a witch lover, long before you were born. She had a great talent and spoke of her magic quite a bit." Elijah paused, "Look, the truth is, you have to unblock any fears or reservations you have. That's why you can only cast when you are angry."
"Look at me, Daddy!" Julian said, rolling on the ground with the ball as the dogs tackled him.
"Nice one, Son," Elijah called back. Then, he turned his attention back to Damon.
Damon put his hands in his pockets.
"I guess that makes sense," Damon confessed. "Hearing you are the most powerful witch isn't something I am used to. It's kind of scary, honestly. Like what if I make a mistake and hurt someone?"
"You will make mistakes," Elijah said. "We all do...You know, I've made my share."
"Yeah, I do," Damon said. Then, changing the subject, asking, "So what happened to your witch friend?"
Elijah looked off into the horizon, watching the sun set.
"Your father killed her," Elijah stated dryly. "Well, not directly, but he had the cauldron roused, that was where she lived. By the time I got to her, it was too late."
"Oh," Damon said. "That, um, is awful. Why would he do something like that?"
Elijah put his hand on Damon's shoulder.
"I don't know. I think he may have been jealous...Niklaus told me it was to cover up Kol's excesses. He sent word to Europe that the New Orleans covens were doing a blood sacrifice to gain power in case our father got wind of something. We always tried to keep a low profile to avoid Mikael's attention," Elijah tried. "But, in time, I forgave him. I always did."
Damon pulled away. "So I should forgive you? Just like that?"
"That's not what I meant," Elijah attempted. "I-I don't expect you to forget or forgive so easily, but Damon, allow me to earn back your trust."
"Earn back? I never trusted you. You were going to kill Elena!" Damon responded hotly.
"What? No, I never would have...I was going to get her to safety!" Elijah responded. "I thought Niklaus needed her death to break his curse. I didn't want that. I had no way of knowing he had already broken it. At the very worst, I would have collected her blood to help him make his hybrids. You have to believe me."
"I don't have to do anything," Damon snarked. "But I will choose to believe you because they say you are an honorable guy. I will try to trust you, that's the best I can do."
Elijah picked up Julian as he barreled into his arms.
"That's all I ask for," Elijah said, tossing his son up in the air.
The little girls ran out.
"Daddy, Auntie B. did our make up!" Indy said. "How do we look?"
Elijah put down Julian and went to the girls. Her smiled to see the garish sparkling eye shadows and their rogued cheeks.
"Ah, you both look like princesses. Better, actually," Elijah laughed, kissing them both on the head. "Now, one last game and we need to head inside. It's getting dark."
Damon walked back to the house, feeling slightly better. But he still wanted that drink.
Basement Level
"Thank you, Enzo. You were a big help today," Klaus said, carefully wrapping up a large needle-like device. The two were in Klaus' hideaway below the garage. It was musty and half-opened wooden boxes lined with straw littered the floor.
"Sure. It was fun, but don't prick yourself with that. It looks nasty," Enzo warned.
"All of these dark objects are nasty in their own way. I was thinking once we are done here, we should clear out the attic. Make Damon and Kol a bit of a studio that we can lock," Klaus suggested. "I don't want the children or anyone cursing themselves by accident."
Enzo laughed, "Now, something like that would never happen around here. Actually, I would get several locks. Maybe a guard?"
Klaus smiled, "There is truth in that. Forbidden fruit is always more appealing, is it not? Speaking of, you seem to have developed a fancy for Lucy, hmm?"
Enzo stood and brushed off his pants.
"She is a beauty, all right. But I think she hates me," Enzo admitted with a grin. "Do you think she might actually like me?"
Klaus patted Enzo on the back.
"With woman, it is hard to tell. I am probably not the right person to ask. I haven't had much luck in that department, especially with our witch friends."
"You are thinking of Greta?" Enzo prompted.
"As well as some others," Klaus answered. "At least with vampires, you don't have to worry about them growing old and leaving you, yet they always seem fine leaving of their own accord. Nay, for me, I need to just keep the focus on family. You can still find love, of course. Just be yourself."
Enzo made a grimace, "I think that is the problem. I don't know who I am or who my family is. I spent my existence just struggling to survive. Everyone else here has some sort of purpose or things they like to do. I am just...here."
Klaus nodded, "Then, you must explore. My painting has given me an outlet for my angst. I suppose, Elijah had business and now the children. Rebekah enjoys fashion and things of that sort. Kol, merriment and a pursue of all this dark knowledge. Even Finn, seems to have found a new interest with the home building with Sage. We'll find something for you."
"Maybe there is nothing for me," Enzo said, disheartened.
Klaus put an arm around him.
"There is something for all of us. Come now, take a break. You still have much to learn of the world. Do not give up just yet," Klaus encouraged, his blue-green eyes sparkling. "I'll set you up with an easel and some paints. That would be a start, no?"
"Art? I sometimes smeared my own blood on the walls of my cell, but I wasn't too good at it," Enzo joked.
Klaus chuckled, "No, I suppose not. We'll start with watercolors, maybe pencil. Come, the air down here is fetid."
Damon's Room
Kol couldn't take Stefan's music any longer.
"Good gods, that is loud," Kol muttered, getting up from his school work.
"Sorry, I'll turn it down. Bon Jovi always reminds me of Lexi," Stefan shared. "She must be pretty busy with her new man, I hardly hear from her."
"Glad someone is successful in the romance department," Kol noted.
"It's not always what it's cracked up to be," Stefan answered, putting down his pen.
"What's that you are always writing?" Kol asked, changing his shirt.
"Oh, my diary," Stefan said, putting the leather bound book in his night stand. "I've always kept one, since I was human really."
"Oh, do you write about me in there?" Kol smirked. "'Kol is so handsome. I wish I could look half as rakish as he...'"
"Ah, no," Stefan laughed. "I do know. I just kind of write it all out. Like a stream of consciousness, I suppose. You should try it sometime."
"Nay, I actually need to try to prep your brother for this spell. Rather silly for us to spend all this effort to keep the wolves from turning. I mean, why do they not just chain themselves up?" Kol mused.
Stefan shrugged, "Well, for Ava, it would be pretty brutal for her to turn. She's just a kid."
"Aye, that is true. Niklaus said that every bone in their body breaks. Plus, we do not need to flee from her. You know, the wolves are predisposed to hunt vampires?" Kol asked, putting on his boots.
"I've heard that. Funny, but I always thought they were a myth until a few months ago. Now, I know they were in Mystic Falls all along," Stefan replied. "And my brother is one of them."
"You and me both," Kol quipped, going to his locked chest and shoving some objects into his jacket. "Now, I best get to your brother as the hour goes late. Oh, Stefan, can you be a dear and finish my maths for me?"
"Your 'maths'? Oh, you mean your algebra?" Stefan pressed. "I thought you were just doing that?"
"Aye, but I didn't finish. I'll make your bed for the next week, ah, mate?"
Stefan considered it. "Fine, but make it two. I don't really see the point as we are just going to sleep in them again."
Kol tossed him the book and his notebook.
"Elijah does not see it that way. Thanks, mate," Kol said, walking out of the room. Stefan turned up his music again and got started on Kol's homework. He had nothing better to do and he found it mildly relaxing.
Damon's Room
Damon had crawled into his large bed and fallen into a deep sleep. He was dreaming of the ravens, but this time, he was a raven. He flew over Mystic Falls and landed in the cemetery. He heard a sound and took off, his black wings beating against the sky.
Kol knocked hastily and opened Damon's door when there was no reply.
"Damon!" Kol said, but stopped short as Damon was levitating. "Bloody hell!"
Kol watched as Damon floated and seemed to float.
"Damon! Wake up," Kol shouted, keeping his distance. Should he call someone?
Damon opened his eyes and bounced down to the mattress, startled.
"Y-You w-were-," Kol shuddered.
"Flying?" Damon said, gasping. "Fuck, I just dreamed I was a raven."
Kol vamped to his nephew and felt his head.
"Cool, you are not feverish," Kol said in relief.
"I was really...flying?" Damon asked.
"Aye, you were a foot in the b-bloody air," Kol stammered.
Damon sat up.
"Um, Kol, can we not make a big deal of this. I mean, just don't say anything. I don't want anyone to freak out," Damon pleaded.
Kol looked back to the door.
"Ah, I don't know about that. I think we should tell-," Kol tried.
"I'll teach you to drive my car, okay? We'll go out to the quarry. And I'll give you some tips on modern girls. Anything you want, just don't say shit about this, I already feel like a freak," Damon muttered, looking at Kol with his bright blue eyes.
"Are you compelling me now?" Kol accused. "First Julian, now you! No one is safe in this damnable house!"
"Kol, you're my uncle, right? I would do it for you. Come on," Damon begged. "Let's go out and practice again. The spell is tomorrow night and I can barely light a candle unless I'm pissed and it becomes an inferno."
Kol swallowed, "Aye, I shall stay mum, but you need to hold up your end of the bargain."
"I will," Damon promised. "Now, let's go."
"You sure you feel alright?" Kol questioned, looking suspicious.
"Yes! Why does everyone keep asking me that? I'm fine," Damon nearly shouted.
"Because you were levitating," Kol answered, feeling uneasy. "Like a lot."
Damon got up and found his shoes.
"You know that girls like fast cars, right? We'll get you a leather jacket and damn, are you wearing cologne? Too much is a turn off, man. You gotta got subtle, okay? Not try so hard," Damon counseled.
"Yes, I am getting that. So we shall pretend like you were not floating and you'll get be behind the wall with a beautiful girl by my side?" Kol proposed.
"Exactly," Damon said, picking up a comb and running it through his inky hair. "And the hair...It has to be just right."
"The hair, got it," Kol stated.
Several minutes later, the pair was back in the woods.
"Um, Bonnie taught me a little spell that may help. But you have to relax first," Kol stated, taking out cigarettes and an old lighter.
"I don't smoke, man," Damon said, confused.
"I know. I just happen to, but the tobacco will relax you and you can draw from the flame," Kol said. "Oh, and I brought this."
Kol pulled out a flask from his jacket.
"Bourbon?" Damon asked hopefully.
"What else?"
"Good, because I think Elijah locked up all the liquor," Damon fumed.
"Ah, he would do something like that," Kol grinned cheekily. "But I happen to know where the hidden key is in his desk."
Kol was looking around the clearing.
Damon asked, "Are you waiting for someone?"
"No, I just don't want us to be disturbed," Kol remarked lightly.
"Okay, so what do we do?" Damon asked, taking the cigarettes and lighter.
"Have a few slugs of this first," Kol said, offering Damon the silver flask. "Then, lit up and draw the energy from the flame."
Damon drank and wiped at his mouth with the back of his hand.
"Good stuff," Damon enthused. "This is the longest dry spell I've had in ages. Thanks."
"You are welcome," Kol said. "As you inhale, try to draw up energy from the earth. Feel it. Then, you will use it to cast a circle of flames."
"A circle of flames, sounds...impossible," Damon complained.
"Oh, and you will trap me in them," Kol noted easily.
"Trap you? What are you taking about?" Damon asked, but Kol had moved back in the clearing.
"Now," Kol said. He concentrated and bared his fangs as his face darkened. "Do it or I'm going to tear you apart! Now!"
Damon rolled his eyes, lit the cigarette and turned to do what Kol had instructed. He didn't feel anything. Nothing, no energy or tingle, whatever he was supposed to feel.
"It's not working," Damon said, feeling bored and irritated. He was hopeless.
Kol snarled and tackled Damon, the cigarette flying into the ground.
"You are a freak! Look at you, a bloody witch, a wolf, and a vampire who is powerless. You should be ashamed of yourself. The Tribrid is hopeless...," Kol yelled, spitting the words into Damon's face.
Damon's eyes lit up orange and he felt himself accessing his hybrid side. He tossed Kol across the clearing into a nearby oak tree.
"Now!" Kol yelled.
Damon lit up the clearing with flames and roared with rage.
"You are a shitty teacher, Kol!" Damon said, slowly approaching him.
Kol tried to move, but realized Damon had pinned him.
"It's working. Say 'Namia Exum Solvos,'" Kol directed.
"Fuck you!" Damon snarled.
"Damon, I cannot move," Kol shared. "Say the words."
Damon vamped to Kol and bared his fangs, sinking them into his neck.
"No, Damon, stop," Bonnie yelled, running.
Kol screamed and put his hand up to the wound. "It burns!"
Bonnie incanted, "Namia Exum Solvos."
The circle of fire was doused and Kol crawled away.
"You were right, Bonnie. It worked," Kol moaned, still holding his neck.
Damon's fang retreated.
"You assholes set me up," Damon fumed. "I could have really hurt him!"
"You did," Kol whined. "The fucking venom is like acid. Bonnie, help me."
Bonnie went to Kol and looked at his wound.
"It's not healing," Bonnie determined. "We need to get him back to the house."
Lucy and Klaus ran up.
"What's happening here?" Klaus shouted. "Kol, your neck!"
"It tis alright, Niklaus. Just a training exercise," Kol explained.
Bonnie bit her lip.
"Ah, Lucy, hey, I thought you had left," Bonnie mumbled.
"I was able to," Lucy said. "You taught him the nature bound spell, didn't you?"
Bonnie nodded, "Damon was afraid his fire was too powerful. Kol had to make him believe that he was using it, but really he was binding Kol to the tree...It worked!"
"So you made Damon believe he was doing one spell when he was really doing anything?" Lucy questioned, as Klaus got Kol up.
Damon was pacing. "I could have taken off his head!"
"Yes, you got through Damon's blockage, but could have caused another. There is no quick fix for magic, Bonnie," Lucy reprimanded. "Kol, you should know that, too."
"Kol, this venom has to run through your system. I'm afraid you are in one of the cells until it passes," Klaus shared. "Bonnie, this could have ended even worse."
"Yes," Lucy said. "Take Kol back, I'll make him a salve for that wound. But first, I need to deal with my cousin here."
"Thanks for your help, Bonnie," Kol rasped. "I didn't mean for you to get into trouble. On the other hand-."
"Kol, that's enough. Come on, we need to go before you start hallucinating," Klaus said sternly. "And what are these?"
Klaus picked up the pack of cigarettes and the lighter.
"It was for the spell!" Kol exclaimed.
"I'm sure it was," Klaus said doubtfully. "Now, come. Damon, are you alright?"
"Not really," Damon said. "I'm sorry, Kol..."
"It wasn't your fault, mate," Kol said, the venom making him woozy. "We tricked you into doing magic."
Klaus and Damon each took one of Kol's arms and led him back to the mansion.
"Lucy, don't be mad...I was just trying to help. You said there was nothing to do but wait for Damon to be ready. And we need him tomorrow, you said so yourself," Bonnie defended.
"We could have used Kol as a power source," Lucy stated. "This is the problem, Bonnie. You don't like one of my answers, you just go ahead and do your own thing. That's not what being in a coven in about."
"Sorry," Bonnie said, though she wasn't.
"I'm afraid you will have to miss the lake house trip this weekend. You are grounded," Lucy determined.
"No! Please anything but that," Bonnie wailed. They were supposed to leave first thing Saturday morning as Jenna had a meeting late Friday afternoon with her advisor. This will still allow Bonnie to help with the full moon spell tomorrow night. There was no school on Monday. Bonnie was really looking forward to the three days at the lake. It had seemed perfect.
"Is that alcohol on your breath?" Lucy inquired, getting closer to Bonnie.
"I was helping Kol find a bottle and...I'm sorry, Luc," Bonnie pleaded.
"I thought you were in the bathroom. I guess I can't trust you the way I thought I could," Lucy snapped.
"No, you can. I just really need to be there for Elena this weekend. She's going to tell April about vampires and I promised I would help. Come on, Lucy," Bonnie pleaded loudly.
"Fine, then bend over that log. I think a good switching will make you think twice about disobeying me," Lucy said.
"A s-switching?" Bonnie trembled.
"Yep, just like I used to get at home when the spoon wasn't enough," Lucy shared. Her late mom Joanna had been strict but fair.
"O-Okay," Bonnie whimpered, leaning over the log slowly.
"Pants and panties down," Lucy said sharply.
Bonnie sniffed and slipped down her sweats and underwear.
Lucy found a stick that would work. She peeled off the bark with her fingers and made sure it was smooth.
"You stay down and take your licks or you will get another good spanking when we get home," Lucy warned.
Swish!
Lucy snapped down the switch with a light force yet Bonnie squealed loudly.
"AH!" Bonnie gulped.
Swish. Swish. Swish.
"Stop! I-I can't t-take it," Bonnie begged.
Swish!
Lucy flicked down the switch harder and Bonnie sobbed aloud.
"Owwwww," Bonnie moaned.
"You can take it and will," Lucy determined. She gave Bonnie ten more moderate licks across her bottom as Bonnie writhed and cried. It was dark aside from the lights on the property. Lucy went extra easy on her cousin, not wanting to do any serious damage as she couldn't see well.
Swish! Swish!
Swish! Swish!
Swish! Swish!
Swish! Swish!
Swish! Swish!
"Ahhhh-eeeeehhhh, sorrrry," Bonnie sobbed.
"Okay, you took that pretty well considering it was your first time," Lucy said. "Now, you are going to help me try to patch up Kol and then you are going right to bed when we get home. Understand?"
"Y-Yes, L-Lucy," Bonnie wept.
"Okay, get your pants up," Lucy said, snapping the stick and tossing it.
Bonnie carefully pulled up her shorts and touched her rear end.
"Ohhhh," Bonnie said as the snug material clung to her bottom.
"It stings and then might itch some," Lucy said, exhaling. "Come here. I'm not mad. I just wish you would listen to me sometimes."
Bonnie broke into more tears as Lucy embraced her.
"Me, too," Bonnie sniffled. Then, with a grin, she asked, "So I can still go to the lake?"
Lucy gave her a swift pop on the bottom.
"Yes, you brat. What am I going to do with you?" Lucy asked.
Bonnie chewed on her lip. "You aren't going to tell Dad about this next weekend, right?"
"We took care of it," Lucy said. "But I went really easy on you. You are lucky Sheila spoiled you or you would realize that!"
"I do," Bonnie chuckled. "I do...I just hope Kol is okay."
"He's an Original. I'm sure he'll be fine," Lucy said, wondering the same thing.
Bonnie made sure to rub her seat again, though, she felt no real sting. Kol had suggested she do a protection spell on herself, just in case. It disturbed her a little that the one she did on Kol hadn't been so effective as that bite was not part of the plan...If Damon was immune to magic, what did that mean? Bonnie couldn't discuss it with Lucy without revealing her own deception.
They would just have to wait and find out.
