After overcoming the slight scare caused by the initial take off and subsequent smash through the skylight, Hallii slowly opened her eyes and was greeted by a sight that made her drop her jaw in amazement. She was flying above London, not on her own but by clutching onto the back of the transformed Bayonetta, but that didn't stop her from finding not only the lights of the city at night beautiful but also the star filled night sky above. The young girl was somewhat sadly pulled out of her thoughts by some rather unusual sounds coming from the rooftops beneath her and Bayonetta. Sounds similar to some kind of motorboat moving through water and occasionally exiting the water before coming back into it with a splash. Glancing down towards the nearest rooftop, Hallii quickly spotted the obvious source of the sounds. A feminine looking being that vaguely reminded Hallii of a centaur… except that instead of having the body of a horse from the humanoid waist down there was a whole metal boat, or rather, ship, decked out with various miniature armaments, including a total of six naval guns in sets of three mounted on the sides of the 'ship' along with a small 'bottle rack-style' missile launcher (not that Hallii actually knew what it was properly called, but it was the closest thing she could think of that looked similar) and a small quad-barreled anti-air gun mounted on the deck of the 'ship'. The being made another jump to the next rooftop, doing something that Hallii should have seen coming in hindsight, she transformed into a human form. The only two things that didn't look human was her literally massive hands, which turned out to be a pair of weaponized gauntlets with clawed fingers and a naval cannon on the back of each hand, and what looked like a really long tail, which turned out to be a scarf.
While Hallii didn't know who the woman was, she could make an educated guess based on what Bayonetta had said and shown. The woman was probably the thief's mother, who proceeded to reduce her momentum from the jump between rooftops by digging the clawed fingers of her right gauntlet into the roof of the building she had landed on. The scraping noise produced by the claws digging into the concrete, which left a rather modest trench in said concrete, prompted Bayonetta to stop flying and start making her descent down to the rooftop by gliding before landing with a slight stumble as she changed from her harpy-esque visage into her human form, being slightly unbalanced due to the young girl clinging to her back.
"Why is the girl with you?" Asked the woman, who Hallii assumed was Bayonetta's mom, in a rather neutral tone.
"Now that is quite the story Mamon." Replied Bayonetta, who was clearly trying to not sound unsure about what she was doing.
"Really?"
"Oui."
"Go on."
"For starters, she is compatible with Umbran Magic, as the glow of the bracelet shows. Which means she could become an apprentice and eventually a fully fledged Umbra Witch."
"And the reason you kidnapped her was?"
"I didn't kidnap anybody. She asked me to take her with me."
"What?"
"I'm right here you know." Deadpanned Hallii, drawing the attention of the two thieves to her, who had the decency to look a bit embarrassed. "I volunteered on the chance of getting a life where I'm not constantly reminded that I'm not wanted, with the bracelet as my bargaining chip."
"That's quite the gambit, la fille. You took a big risk."
"And it's paying off so far as far as I'm concerned."
"How?"
"This is the first conversation I've ever had where I haven't been screamed at or accused of something I supposedly did wrong!" At this point, Hallii was holding back tears of relief and frustration as she had been wanting to get that off her chest for years. The mother and daughter duo of thieves shared a look with each other, seemingly having a silent conversation until the mother of said duo motioned with her head towards the nearly crying child, prompting the daughter to give the child a hug, which caused the release of the waterworks.
"Can we keep her, Mamon?"
"It appears that we got ourselves an apprentice."
"… does that mean yes?"
"Oui. But first, we need to get out of this part of the city. Then we can start her training as an Umbra Witch and Phantom Thief."
