Disclaimer: I do not own Pokemon and Harry Potter
BloodyKitsune1997: Okay you guys really wanted this next chapter! I won't reply to all the reviews because that is a lot! But I am replying to questions and the like. I am putting a list of pokemon down at the bottom like before to keep things a little easier, but it won't have any actual moves in it unless I specifically use said pokemon moves. Alright? Here we go!
Chapter 2
Leaning back against one of the large trees that decorated Route One, Vali looked over Ash and Gary as they tore into the lunch that Delia had packed them. She spoke as Aragorn trotted out of the bushes, "Eating already, you two?"
"We've been walking forever," Ash whined at her, "We're hungry...Aren't you?"
Vali shook her head as Aragorn dropped onto the ground beside her, "No, I probably won't get hungry for another hour or so. You two can eat though," She reached down to rub Aragorn's ears earning a soft purr, "We can use this break to talk too."
"Talk?" Gary frowned at her, "How so?"
Vali pulled out her pokenav and began opening up her map. Fiddling with her settings, she pulled up the Kanto gyms, "As you two know, Kanto has 8 main gyms and 8 minor gyms," She turned her pokenav towards the boys, "Do you recognize this map?"
"Ye-" Gary started to nod before pausing, "Wait, two of those dots are in the wrong position!"
Vali shook her head, "As of this year, two of the minor gyms have changed hands with one even gaining its certification."
"Wow," Ash grinned slightly, "Which two?"
"The Fairy-type Gym," Vali tapped one of the dots, "And the Dragon-type gym. The Dragon-type gym had to gain its certification," She let out a soft laugh, "Lance put the gym leader through hell,"
"Wow, I want to fight against them!" Ash grinned brightly, "Just imagine what pokemon they have!"
"That's what I thought you'd say," Vali grinned brightly as she closed her pokenav and set it back into her pocket, "If we time things right, you can theoretically battle each gym. You might not win against them all, but you'd be able to battle them,"
Ash nodded enthusiastically, "I really want to battle them all...It's what a pokemon master would do, right?"
"That depends on the master, but I have," Vali grinned at him as Aragorn snorted softly beside her, "Gary?"
Gary frowned slightly before nodding, "Yeah...I'd like to battle them...Well most of them."
"Alright, we'll start with Pewter and work our way through," Vali started to calculate their route.
Ash frowned at Vali, "What about the gym in Viridian?"
Vali shook her head, "Giovani only accepts 8th badge challengers," She was highly tempted to go bug the earth gym leader for another match, "He's a tough battle."
"So..." Ash started to grin at Vali, "Could you battle him while we're there? Just so we can get an idea of how strong he is"
Looking at Ash, Vali blinked for a moment and wanted to cave into his eager grin. She pouted a bit, "Can't, I promised Lance I wouldn't challenge any of the Gym Leaders until I resume my duties as an Elite," Ash pouted at her and she had to throw him a bone, "IF," She stressed as Gary started to look a bit disappointed too, "We happen to come across a certain Electric Gym Leader and there happens to be a free battle field...well...who am I to deny my darling little brothers in seeing me battle?"
"You'd battle Surge against Lance's orders?" Gary asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Who said it had to be Surge?" Vali replied with a shrug and a mischievous grin, "But I cannot say anymore,"
"Vali, so mean!" Gary and Ash whined at her.
Vali stuck her tongue out at them, "And you two need to finish your food. We've still got another few hours of sunlight we're able to travel."
Elrond chuckled within her mind, "Not going to tell them?"
Vali rolled her eyes as she replied, "And risk them telling Lance? No way in hell! If he's basically going to cock-block me because I'm taking a much needed vacation, I'm going to make things rough on him."
"So mean," Elrond snorted softly.
"That's what he gets for treating me as a fucking secretary for almost the entirety of being a fucking Elite," Vali's nose scrunched up, "I didn't become an Elite for that shit. I became an Elite for the fun battles and stable paycheck,"
"And photo opportunities," Elrond added.
"True," Vali stood up and stretched causing her back to popped in multiple place earning a couple disgusted looks from the two boys, "I'll be back in a couple minutes. I want to take a small walk. Aragorn, I want you to make sure nothing happens, alright?"
Aragorn gave her a mock-salute with paw and slumped onto the ground. Vali walked away with Elrond and took her pokenav out as he asked, "Calling the queen?"
Vali nodded as she tapped on Cynthia's picture. It took a few moments before the blonde answered. Cynthia yawned softly, "Vali? What has you calling this early in the morning?"
"It's about two in the afternoon here, Princess," Vali grinned at bit as Cynthia's cheeks turned a bit red, "Seeing as my brothers needed a break, I thought I'd give ya a call. Did you fall asleep reading about Ancient Sinnoh again?"
Cynthia's cheeks grew bright red, "I...did," She adjusted the phone and rubbed at her eyes, "I can't believe I fell asleep like this again."
"Considering the amount of stress you've been putting yourself through in the recent months...It isn't surprising," Vali frowned at her, "The championship for Sinnoh is done, right?"
"Yes, we finished up right before I called you the last time," Cynthia smiled softly, "I'll be fine, Vali. Trust me,"
Rubbing the back of her neck, Vali sighed deeply, "I do trust you, Thia. I just...worry."
"It's in your nature, I know," Cynthia giggled softly, "If I was over there, Sparky. I'd hug you,"
Vali grinned slightly, "That'll happen soon enough, ya know."
A laugh left Cynthia and the conversation shifted to what had been going on in the champion's life since they'd last talked.
Pikachu stared at the King that was stretched out not far from his...trainer. The sheer fact that he'd found himself in the presence of a fucking king mere weeks after being captured by that foolish old human shocked him silly. He could feel the faintest traces of an Old one layered across the King. The same Old one's presence lingered on the King's trainer and compatriots. Just what had they done to earn the respect of an Old One? It boggled his mind as Old Ones rarely spent time in this world anymore. If they did, it was great Mew.
The King turned his head to peer at him and he gulped slightly. The King spoke, "Try to relax, you're going to end up having a heart attack."
"B-but you're a King?!" Pikachu couldn't help himself.
The King snorted at him, "I'm a pokemon same as you. Until I'm ready to use this stone," He tapped the fire-stone hanging from his neck, "I am merely a Prince guarding my mother."
"M-mother?" Pikachu couldn't imagine having a human for a mother.
Pikachu had been raised by a Kangaskan and greatly missed the wonderful pokemon. The King snorted at him, "Valkyrie Potter-Black raised me from my egg after my birth mother left it in her hands. I was supposedly the runt," A low huff left him, "To think I'd become this from a runt...Almost like magic."
"I-I suppose," Pikachu swallowed heavily, "B-but that-"
"You'll learn, Mouse," The King's eyes were hard, "That not all humans are like the ones who harmed you. My mother and those she chooses to call kin are worthy of much," The King rose up and stretched before turning to lash out at something Pikachu couldn't even begin to see, "You'll see it soon enough,"
A loud shriek filled the air making Pikachu's new...trainer flinch alongside the other human and the Squirtle. A loud growl left the King...
Vali walked back to where she'd left the boys under Aragorn's care and found her loyal Vulpix pinning a squirming teenager just a bit older than Ash to the ground. The girl twisted around underneath the somewhat bulky fox only to freeze as Aragorn inched closer to her throat. Vali raised an eyebrow as the teen shrieked out, "Call off this monster!"
"Why would we do that?" Vali called out as she walked into the clearing with Eowyn sliding right beside her, "You've been following us for the past mile after all,"
"Huh?" Ash and Gary looked at Vali in confusion.
Vali ignored them as she looked at the girl being pinned down by Aragorn, "See, my Alolan Raichu has a very large passive range and he can connect with any of my pokemon at will. When any of my pokemon feel something fishy is going on they alert each other," She patted Eowyn's head, "You set off every single one of this girl's alarms, so I had her following you while my Raichu tracked everything. So want you to tell us what you were doing or should I save that for the Jennies?"
The girl's face twisted, "You can't prove nothing!"
"Can't I?" Vali reached down and tugged at Eowyn's collar for a second revealing the shiny camera lens, "Say hello to my little friend," The girl turned pale, "So want to try this again?"
"I-I-" The girl's mouth close and she looked on the verge of passing out.
"Let me guess, you were planning to catch them off guard while I was away and steal all they had?" Vali tilted her head as the girl look away from her, "Or perhaps, you were planning on catch all of us off guard in the middle of the night?" The girl's face twisted and Vali shook her head, "Honestly," She pulled out her pokenav and began typing in numbers, "I swear the shit I run into. Eowyn, I want the kid's pokedex and pokeballs,"
Ash spoke up, "Vali? What's going on?"
"She was going to try and rob us," Vali waved a hand at the would be robber, "Unlucky for her, she chose us rather than your fellow pallet beginners,"
The pokenav in her hand crackled for a second before a tired voice called out, "Route one rangers station here. If this is about the Spearow Population, we're on it."
"No, it isn't," Vali kept her tone kind, "This is Elite Four Valkyrie Potter-Black, I am calling in an attempted robbery-"
"F-Flame Empress!" The ranger on the other end practically shrieked while the teen on the ground paled, "I apologize for not realize that it was you who was calling!" Vali rubbed the bridge of her node as the Ranger began spewing niceties, "You hav-"
"Ranger!" Vali cut them off in the nicest tone possible, "I would be grateful if you could have one or two of your squad bring this would be robber in. I am sure that whoever else they've caused problems for will also be very grateful,"
"O-of course, Ma'am!" Vali could feel the Ranger's salute through her pokenav, "We'll be at your coordinates very shortly,"
"I'll phone the Jennies and inform them of your prisoner," Vali tried to keep from rolling her eyes.
Vali was very grateful that the Jennies were a lot more tame when she phoned them. Gary spoke once she'd put her pokenav away, "Why did the ranger sound like that?"
"You know how even after I finished my training with..." Vali trailed off as her eyes went to their would be robber and the two boys nodded, "I wasn't really home that much? I was working alongside the Rangers and ACE,"
"Seriously?" Gary looked at her in amazement.
"In both Kanto and Johto," Vali nodded her head.
"Coolest sister ever," Ash shouted causing the nearby Pidgey to scatter.
Vali let out a laugh and shook her head as Gary began to berate Ash for scaring the nearby pokemon.
It took the Rangers a half-hour to grab the would-be robber and stop trying to get her autograph much to Elrond's amusement. Vali had them resume walking with Gary taking the lead. Gary ended up leading them to a river where they stopped for the night. In the time it took the boys to set up their tents, she'd gotten her tent and the the rest of their camp set up. Gary commented, "You've gotten a lot of practice, huh?"
"You'll get there eventually," Vali stirred the stew pot she'd set up, "Now how about you guys start training?"
The two boys and their pokemon stared at her for a long moment. Ash shook his head, "Shouldn't we rest? We've spent the entire day traveling."
"You two walked," Vali gave him a pointed look, "Pidgeotto flew maybe a third of that. Weepinbell was in his pokeball. Squirtle didn't come out unless it was to move around during your little breaks. Pikachu walked around a little bit or rode on your shoulder,"
"I-" Ash started to argue before stopping himself with a frown, "I guess your right,"
"You've got enough sunlight to easily train for at least thirty minutes. It's not a great work out, but it'll be good enough," Vali gave them a stern look, "You need to get in what training you can,"
"Right," Ash rubbed the back of his neck, "Any suggestions,"
"I could make some, but," She gave him a look, "I'd need to see what you've got first,"
"Right," Ash swallowed and looked at Gary, "We should..."
"Yeah," Gary shook his head and turned to his pokemon who looked a little bewildered, "Right. Let's start training for a bit before dinner,"
It took the boys a few minutes to get their pokemon into some form of a workout routine. Vali observed with Elrond while Aragorn and Eowyn took off into the wood. The two would be gathering some more firewood and setting up a perimeter for her other pokemon to follow later on when she finally released them. Elrond spoke as Pikachu began to reluctantly follow Ash's orders, "That one is like Thorin and myself, it is strange to see it on the outside."
'A bit,' Vali had to smile as Pidgeotto swept down and began to take Pikachu to task a bit, 'At the very least, Ash has a very close bond with his first pokemon to help,'
"True though I wonder what will bring them together in the end?" Elrond tilted his head with a low sigh.
'No idea though the fact Ash has a Pikachu worries me a bit...Could he actually be...?' Vali's eyes met Elrond's and the Alolan Raichu shrugged slightly.
"Only when it's time for us to travel among the orange islands and participate in that ceremony will we know," Elrond replied earning a low sigh, "For now, we must leave the what ifs alone,"
Vali shook her head and smiled at him, 'Right, I need to think of the present rather than a future that hasn't happened yet,' She looked at the two boys and relaxed, 'Let's focus on seeing where they need to improve their training, huh?'
Elrond laughed softly and nodded to her as she continued to monitor the stew. Once it was ready and her pokemon had returned, Vali called out to the boys. Ash and Gary noted the large amount of bowls set up almost immediately. Gary grinned slightly, "Are we going to see your entire team?"
"No," Vali grinned as they both face faulted, "But you'll see those that I have on me,"
Vali released her pokemon and relished in the burst of heat that seemed to explode in the center of camp. Balto stretched with a yawn as he appeared. Smaug flexed his wings and took off into the air with Celina quickly following. Pele let out low groan and the volcanic mounds on her back let out puffs of smoke. Arwen stamped her hooves and flicked an ear as she glanced around the area with a faint look of wariness. Taking up his normal position at Vali's side was Thorin, the Flareon glowering at the new additions to Ash and Gary's team.
Gary let out a whistle, "Man, they look so cool!"
"Oh man, it's so warm," Ash grinned brightly, "We don't really need a fire,"
"We'll be putting it out after we're done eating," Vali replied as settled down with her food against Balto's side earning a soft huff of amusement from the Arcanine, "So eat up,"
"Right," Gary and Ash nodded quickly as they began eating.
Ash spoke after a few minutes, "So...Where are your other pokemon? They aren't at the ranch."
Vali paused midway to eating another spoonful of food and looked at Ash. She set her spoon down after a moment, "They're at the Plateau right now."
"Because they get better medical care, right?" Gary asked earning a nod.
"That and the facilities for certain pokemon a little bit better no offense to Professor Oak," Vali grimaced at Gary's confused look, "Professor Oak doesn't have many fossil pokemon especially ones that actively battle. I have a fully evolved Aurorus which hasn't been seen outside of Kalos..."
"That's the pokemon you had Grandpa drooling over when he was going over your Pokedex?!" Gary shouted with wide eyes earning a laugh as Vali rubbed the back of her neck.
"Well that and I might have a couple really interesting pokedex entries that aren't allowed into the public," Vali replied earning multiple curious looks from the boys and their pokemon, "No you're not allowed to see until you get at least your 8th badge,"
"But Vali-" Ash whined at her.
"Red tape sucks, Ash," Vali replied with a shudder, "Never become an Elite, the paperwork sucks,"
"That's because you've become a certain champion's glorified secretary," Elrond snickered at her.
"I can hide the mustard from you, Eli," Vali didn't bother looking at her faithful psychic as Thorin started huffing beside her.
"Lance made you his secretary?" Ash asked in confusion.
Vali grimaced as she took a bite of her stew, "Glorified," She shook her head with an eyeroll at his confused look, "Bastard hates paperwork and treats it like the plague. Tends to oversleep...a lot," She snorted softly, "Or went of 'Unexpected flights'," She rolled her eyes, "I became the one who wrangled him into doing his paperwork and ensured the meetings happened on time. Any scheduled appearances had to happen when I wasn't on a mission or I'd set them up through one of the others, I've had to set up a network of bullshit to ensure Lance got everything done."
Gary goggled at her, "You did all that and no one noticed? How did the League survive before you became a member of the Elite Four?"
Vali gave him a deadpan look, "Lance had secretaries before I came into the picture...They all lasted a few months each before quitting."
"So what's he going to do while you're on vacation...hell if you retire from being an Elite?" Gary asked while Ash's eyes widen at the last part.
"You'd retire?" Ash whispered softly.
Vali shook her head, "I'm not going to retire...Not right now..." She hadn't really thought about retiring at any point soon, "I have things in place to ensure that he won't stress out any secretary he'll be dealing with for a little while. If I decide to extend my vacation...well..."
Cynthia had offered to let her stay in Sinnoh for awhile and the country was rather beautiful. Vali shook her head after a moment as Gary snorted, "So basically your saying Lance is more of a 'I'll solve this with my fists rather than a pen' person?"
"Pretty much," Vali chuckled at that analogy, "Steven is the exact opposite which makes things really fucking interesting when they're trying to arrange between Hoenn and Kanto,"
"And you don't get paid for this extra work, do you?" Gary asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Little brother," Vali grinned at him, "There is a reason why I was allowed this vacation alongside any extensions..."
The grin on Gary's face was reminiscent of a Sharpedo, "I knew there was a reason you were my favorite sister. So did you bide your time or..."
"Bided my time and used plenty of blackmail," Vali ignored the exasperated groan that left Elrond, "Now," She finished her stew off, "You guys have a bit longer to finish up before we need to clean our dinners up. Since this is our first night out, I'd say we can take maybe an hour before heading to bed,"
"Alright," Gary nodded with a sly grin as he quickly polished off his food.
Ash nodded as he quickly did the same, "I think I'll read up on moves we can work on..."
When they all woke up in the morning, Vali was more than a little amused to find Ash and Gary hadn't slept very well. According to Elrond, the two had stayed up until a little past midnight before finally succumbing to exhaustion which was their own faults. Rather than wake them immediately once she'd risen and gotten ready for the day, she began to run drills with her pokemon before heading out with Balto and her two fliers while leaving Eowyn back at camp to ensure the boys were okay. Hearing the Ranger speak of a Spearow problem raised a few alarm bells in her head, Route One was usually peaceful especially with Professor Oak's pokemon keeping a close eye on things which meant something was definitely off about the area.
Seeing abnormally large claw marks on one tree, Vali had Balto slow down and quickly dismounted to get a closer look. She took out her pokenav and snapped a picture before running a finger along the bark. Frowning slightly, she sent the picture to Professor Oak alongside Lance and the Ranger Commander. Almost immediately, she got a call back from Professor Oak, "Professor, I take it you know what made this?"
"Based on the shape, I'd say a Fearow made it to mark their flocks territory, but for such a size-" Professor Oak was silenced as a loud shriek echoed through the air followed by a roar from Smaug.
"I think Smaug found the culprit," Vali glanced at Balto with a slight grin of amusement, "I've sent the picture to Lance and the Ranger Commander. If this is a Fearow we're dealing with-"
Another shriek of anger followed by a roar of annoyance echoed through the air, Professor Oak spoke with a chuckle, "Go deal with it, I have no doubt that Smaug can handle an overgrown Fearow no matter the size. I assume you'll send it my way?"
"I will though I'm certain it's probably leading a above average sized flock of Spearow meaning the Rangers will have to deal with the fallout of me dealing with this," Vali really hadn't expected this, "But given the fact that a pokemon like this is even popping up around Route One of all places..."
"It definitely means this year is going to be an interesting one," Professor Oak let out a low chuckle, "I'll start arranging things on my end to see if we can't get some of those Spearow moved around to other areas. It's about time for them to shifted about anyhow,"
"I'll let ya go since I've got to ensure Smaug doesn't kill this overgrown buzzard," Vali replied with a soft laugh and ended the call as she got onto Balto's back, "Let's go see what our boy is up to,"
Balto let out a bark of agreement and darted towards where the sounds of battle were only getting louder.
By the time Ash and Gary woke up, they both felt like they'd slept on cold concrete despite Steven gifting them top-of-the line sleeping bags during each of their last birthdays. They knew it was both due to the strange environment and because they'd stayed up far too late last night. Gary was the first to notice rather groggily that Vali wasn't present and her things had been packed away. Eowyn was curled up on top of their former fire pit seemingly snoozing though the Houndoom's ears twitched every few seconds making it clear she was keeping an eye on their surroundings. With a slight frown, he spoke softly, "I think Vali went for a walk, Ash."
"Huh?" Ash looked about sleepily before nodding with a confused frown, "I guess, but why?"
"No idea," Gary shook his head as he went about making himself some food and getting ready for the day, "Let's just get ready for the day and maybe get some training done,"
"Sounds good," Ash nodded slowly after a few moments.
After they'd eaten breakfast and began training, the two hesitated before starting to break down camp. Eowyn got up and picked Vali's messenger bag up with ease. Gary stared at the Houndoom for a moment as he asked, "Are we supposed to keep moving forward without Vali, Wyn?"
Eowyn nodded lightly and barked softly with an impatient look on her face. Ash's face scrunched up for a second before he said, "I think she said Vali would catch up. Alpha...Balto can track us...Right?" He looked at Eowyn is askance and earned a nod, "So I guess we should go ahead and get moving."
"I don't like this..." Gary rubbed at the back of his neck and scowled at Eowyn as the Houndoom barked in disapproval, "I know this is supposed to be our journey, but since we're traveling as a group with Vali..."
"I get it, Gar," Ash smiled at Gary, "I don't like it either, but if Vali wants us to move forward without her while she's doing something, we should,"
"I..." Gary sighed deeply and dropped his hand, "You sure about this, Ash?"
Ash nodded with a light grin, "Like Vali says, it's all part of the adventure, right?"
"Right," Gary smiled at Ash in return before looking at Eowyn, "You'll be okay to carry her bag, right?"
Eowyn growled lightly at him in reply and began to stalk away with a snort. Ash laughed softly and followed after the hellish hound, "I think that's a yes without even trying to translate it."
Gary grumbled under his breath as he began to follow the other two. He commented, "You're getting better at translating pokemon beside Pidgeotto and Weepinbell."
"The Professor didn't mind letting me try with the lab pokemon," Ash smiled sheepishly, "I get things wrong a lot. It's a struggle..." He looked down and his mouth twisted into a faint scowl, "Vali keeps trying to encourage me, but it's so hard especially when she acts like its easy sometimes,"
"That's with fire-types though," Gary pointed out, "She can't understand non-fire-types without Elrond, remember?"
Ash released a low sigh and took off his treasured hat to run a hand through his hair, "I know. It's just...I'm getting kind of jealous about how she can communicate with her team like that. Even the non-fire-types, she can understand them without Elrond..."
Eowyn released a low series of barks and yips that definitely sounded like she was scolding Ash. Gary looked at the hellhound for a second before glancing towards Ash as the boy jolted. He frowned a bit, "Ash? What's wrong?"
"I..." Ash shook his head lightly, "Did you guys really-" Eowyn nodded with a low bark, "So that's why-" Eowyn barked again sounding stern with a look to match, "Why didn't-" Eowyn cut him off with a look and mournful sounding bark, "I...Right, she didn't want to worry mom or Sirius not to mention we were still just little kids back then..."
"Ash," Gary frowned deeply at the boy, "What in Giratina's gray asshole is going on?" His eyes narrowed at the amount of hesitation Ash seemed to radiate, "Ash, tell me. Now,"
"According to Eowyn, Vali and her team almost died during their training," Ash answered earning a confused look.
"We knew that," Gary didn't understand why he was stating an already known fact, "Vali said they were in a really hostile place because of a Moltre-"
Ash shook his head with a look of pain, "Gar, Vali was on the verge of actually dying. As in she would've passed into Giratina's paws alongside her team if they hadn't done what they'd done," Gary felt like his heart had stopped, "Our sister's heart actually stopped a couple times and Elrond had to restart it..."
"Shit..." Gary stopped walking feeling like his world was about to stop spinning, "W-what-how-"
"They barely managed to survive each day and through that learned how to communicate," Ash swallowed heavily.
"And yet she never said-" Gary cut himself off, "Because we were kids..."
"She wanted us to keep living in our little world," Ash confirmed with a sad look, "We've got to get strong enough, Gar. We can't let Vali go through all that just for it to go to waste,"
"I won't," Gary mentally promised himself to never let his sister down, "I don't care what's coming or why. I'll face it with my head held high and my pokemon,"
"Same," Ash nodded in agreement.
Sneezing as she watched Smaug slam the definitely King sized Fearow into a nearby boulder, Vali thanked Elrond for handing her a tissue. She felt a shiver roll down her spine and glanced towards Elrond as he fried a small group of Spearow that attempted to help their 'Leader'. Speaking softly as she leaned against Balto, she commented, "Someone is thinking hard about me."
"Good thoughts or bad?" Elrond asked before both of them winced as a series of wet cracks echoed through the air followed by a shriek of pain from the Fearow.
"Can't tell though I'm fairly sure they were good," Vali got an Ultra Ball ready and took out her dex as she primed the ball, "But who knows with the amount of people I've pissed off recently,"
"Point," Elrond chuckled softly as Smaug backed away allowing her to chuck the ball towards their quarry.
With a slight smirk, Vali watched as the Fearow disappeared into the Ultra Ball. The ball shook for awhile before clicking with a cheerful burst of sparks. She typed out a list of commands on her dex and watched as the ball disappeared in a burst of bluish light. Smaug cracked his knuckles with a roar of victory, "Fucking bastard didn't even put up much of a fight!"
"Did you expect him to? He was wild and growing," Vali grinned at Smaug as he gave her a pouty look, "Don't worry, I'm sure we'll find you a good fight at some point though it might have to wait until we get to Vermillion,"
"Damn that dragon-brat," Smaug spat out a couple embers as he stomped over to her, "I want to fight the Earth Prick. I still need to give that Purple rat-king and his blue bitch payback for fucking around during our last match up,"
Vali snorted softly as she reached up to rub his nose softly earning a low purr of pleasure from the drake. It was nice being able to hear her teams voices even if certain pokemon tended to use a swear word every other breath. It was amusing to figure out which people her pokemon liked and which ones were only tolerated because she enjoyed being around said person. She jolted a bit as Balto's wet nose touched her cheek. Turning her head, she looked at the alpha of her pokemon with a light smile.
"We should get back though I've no doubt Eowyn has moved the boys on," Balto huffed lightly in amusement.
Vali nodded while glancing upwards towards where Celina was sending various Spearow flying, "Agreed," She cupped a hand over her mouth before shouting up, "CEL! Come on, we're heading out!"
There was a loud croon of disappointment before the Pidgeot swept downward in a vibrant flash of light, the dust Celina kicked up was quickly blocked by Smaug's wings and Elrond. Balto and Vali watched in combined amusement as Smaug began to bitch at Celina for kicking up so much dust. Elrond spoke in a soft tone, "Is he seriously acting like he didn't pull the same stunt last week?"
"Yup," Vali giggled softly.
Eventually, Vali broke the argument off and they headed back towards where the camp had been. As Balto ran, she heard her pokenav go off and quickly answered it. Lance spoke from the other end, "Vali, what on earth did you come across?"
"A King-gene Fearow," Vali grinned at his shocked gasp, "I know. Professor Oak has it at the lab right now. Before you ask, I'm not planning on keeping it. A Fearow does not fit in with my pack at all,"
"So what are you going to do?" Lance asked her with a frown layering his voice, "We definitely cannot allow it to be released again. Not if the reports I've just now been able to read about the Route one Spearow problems are any kind of clue,"
"I'll see if one of the flying type gym leaders is willing to trade with me," Vali had a specific one in mind to trade with, "I've got a couple pokemon that I'd love to get my hands on if they're willing and able,"
"I can contact Falkner-" Lance began to offer.
"Don't," Vali shook her head, "Falkner is lovely, but I've got someone else in mind," She just had to see if the female Gym Leader was willing to find such a pokemon and send it so far, "Sorry, Lance,"
"It's fine," Lance sounded a bit startled, "How goes traveling? I heard about the would-be thief. She's apparently slipped through the cracks for over a year. A one badge trainer that couldn't even make it through Cerulean,"
"Ash and Gary weren't prepared to sleep outside even with preparation," Vali laughed lightly, "It'll take some time, but they'll get it eventually," Balto began to slow down and she looked around to see that they'd reached their former campsite, "It's been easy enough otherwise,"
"I'm glad though I've missed having you around," Lance's voice took on a whining tone, "There is so much paperwork~"
"And you've got to do all of it," Vali teased him with a snort, "Have fun with that pile and don't you dare let that new Axew eat it, Agatha promised that she'd have a few ghosts keep an eye on you not to mention a certain pokemon of mine is still there to keep an eye on you,"
"Fuck!" Lance cursed before there was a loud rustle of paperwork, "Zena! No don't eat those! Papa needs them to keep Mama from killing him!"
Vali choked on her spite at Lance's words and she heard Elrond laugh from in front of her, "Lance, what the fuck did you call me?!"
There was a strangled sound of panic on the other end followed by the line going dead, Vali quickly tried to call Lance again only for it to straight to voicemail. She tried multiple times before finally giving up with a strangled groan. Growling at the laughing Alolan Raichu, she hissed out, "No more fucking mustard, Eli."
Elrond shut up immediately with a look of panic as Balto let out a bark of laughter.
