Pairing: Jenna/April (F/f) spatula

"Her bare feet whispered across the floor as she approached him with the sort of stealth that only small children and trained killers possess."

Mikaelson Mansion

Kol and Stefan's Room

Rebekah pushed open the ajar bedroom door and found Kol on his stomach with a math book in front of him.

"Oh God, what now?" Kol seethed, turning to his side.

"Hey, screw you! I just came to give you your money back," Rebekah said, waving the bill in front of his face. "But I can keep if you are going to be a...dick about it."

"Oh, thanks. Just put it on the dresser. It twas Damon's anyway," Kol muttered. "Guess you heard we got busted."

"Well, I was in the kitchen when Finn offered Klaus that paddle and put two and two together. I thought we were in good shape when Damon melted that stupid magic hairbrush, but guess not," Rebekah admitted, peering over his shoulder. "So you really did miss that math test?"

"Yeah, I just can't believe we got caught. And what are you whinging about? You hardly get in trouble around here," Kol added.

"That's because I am smart when I do something stupid," Rebekah grinned. "Well, except from time I fed on Matt at school. I'm sure you remember that. I bet that cleaning brush hurt more than the paddle!"

Don't be so sure about that! Nik coated it in vervain. Now, do you see why we can't feed on people in the corridors now? They see everything at that damn school."

"I hate to say you were right, but I guess you were," Rebekah conceded. "Anyway, there's the money. I didn't want you to think I snitched on you."

"I know you wouldn't do that," Kol said. "But I do have a favor to ask. Um, are you still hanging out with Bonnie a lot? I assume you are since you are picking up some of their colorful language..."

"Yes, at cheerleading and lunch. And you are a dick, own it. But why are you asking about dear Bonnie?" Rebekah asked, sitting down on Stefan's bed. A neat stack of laundry toppled to the floor. She picked most of it up, but kicked a few pieces of what may have been underpants under the bed. She just didn't want to go there.

"Ah, is she interested in anyone? Like guys? I was thinking about asking her to the decades dance for Friday," Kol said, looking quickly at Rebekah, as he chewed on his pencil.

"Oh, wow! I didn't see that coming. I thought all this silly high school stuff was beneath you. Ah, I can ask her," Rebekah said.

"Yeah, thanks. Let me know. Damon wants me there to keep an eye on Elena, you know, with the Sisters' coven possibly after her and all," Kol added quickly. "You know how witches would froth at the mouth for a chance to get a doppelgänger."

"Sure, it wouldn't be that you actually like Bonnie, right?" Rebekah teased, after shaking off a shudder at what those witches would do to Elena. She was a nice girl and Rebekah was learning a lot from her.

"Shut up," Kol grinned. "Just doing a favor for our little nephew. If I don't, he may blast me or turn me into an eunuch."

Now Kol shivered thinking about losing his man parts.

"Favor...Right," Rebekah laughed. "I'll see what I can do. I know you aren't used to going out with girls you don't have to pay."

Kol tried to throw his textbook at Rebekah, but she vamped out of the room in time. The book hit the door and fell to the floor with a thump. His sore backside protested as he went to pick it up. When would he learn? He should put Mr. Slithers, the kids' pet snake, in Rebekah's bed chamber soon. She never fancied snakes much. Well, maybe after his date with Bonnie was a done deal.

Gilbert Residence

April and Elena threw the remnants of their pizza on the kitchen table as they came home. They had stopped by the Grill after cheerleading practice was cancelled.

"I ate so much. I'll never be able to do a decent tumble at this rate," April groaned, holding her stomach.

"Oh, you'll get it, hon," Elena encouraged, stretching her calves. "But we should take a jog tonight."

"Yeah, totally," April agreed, though she wasn't big into running like Elena was.

Jeremy came in the kitchen in sweats and a t-shirt. April bit her lip and started to fumble for some lip gloss in her bag. She and Jeremy hadn't really spoken much.

"Hey, I thought you guys had practice," Jeremy grumbled.

"Nah, cancelled," Elena said. "Coach is sick. We hit the Grill when we found out. Have a slice on us."

"Thanks for the ride. I had to take the bus home," Jeremy pointed out with a frown.

"Oh, where's Ric?" Elena asked.

"History department meeting," Jeremy added, opening the pizza box. "Thanks for leaving me two lousy pieces. You guys went to the Grill and didn't get fries? Cheap."

"Yeah, don't be rude about it or you won't get any!" Elena said, snatching the pizza box from his hands.

"Fine. I wasn't hungry anyway," Jeremy said, getting a Coke out of the fridge.

"What's with you?" Elena pressed, putting the box back. "Bad day?"

Jeremy plopped down on the kitchen table bench and popped up his drink.

"Sorry, yeah. Annabelle took the fall for that whole frog prank. You know, the one the guys on the baseball team were planning for the dance. All she did was get the frogs, but I think they called her mom. I haven't heard from her since," Jeremy said sadly.

"Oh no, that's not fair. And her mom is really strict, huh?" Elena said with sympathy. She pushed the pizza box in front of Jeremy, feeling a little guilty for forgetting him. She knew he was always hungry.

Jeremy took a cold slice and bit into it nodding, "Yeah, like real strict. I don't know if she'll be allowed to go to the dance now."

"Ah, that sucks," Elena said. "That reminds me. I have to check on our costumes. Is Jenna upstairs?"

"Yeah," Jeremy said glumly.

April was about to follow Elena upstairs when Jeremy called her.

"Um, April? Can I talk to you?" Jeremy said, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand.

April smiled and handed him a napkin from the center of the table.

"Sure. What's up?" April said brightly. She was still secretly seething about Jeremy's love of Annabelle. Hadn't that kiss at the lake meant anything to him? She wanted to talk to Elena about hearing Annabelle in his bedroom, but had taken matters into her own hands.

Jeremy put the half-finished piece of pizza back in the box.

"Look, I just wanted to say sorry about that night at the lake. I, um, shouldn't have kissed you. It's not that I don't have feelings for you, but Annabelle and me-," Jeremy begun.

"Are in love," April finished.

Jeremy leaned back, surprised. "Ah, no, but we are going out officially now. I told her about what happened and she forgave me. It was shitty of me to not talk to you sooner. I hope you can forgive me, too. I know you're mad even if you don't yell and act mean about it."

April felt a flush of guilt. She had kissed Jeremy, but she knew how he felt about Annabelle...and then she had done the other thing.

"Oh Jeremy, that means a lot. It wasn't your fault, it just happened. Let's just forget about it," Annabelle said.

But then they heard Jenna stomping down the stairs.

"Jeremy Gilbert! I was putting the clothes that I asked you to put away in your drawer, and look what I found!" Jenna yelled, holding up a pack of cigarettes and a lighter.

"What? Those aren't mine. I told you I quit smoking, Aunt Jenna!" Jeremy expounded in shock.

"Get the paddle. You are really going to get it and maybe when Ric comes home, he'll take his belt to your sneaky behind!" Jenna threatened.

"What the fuck? I said they aren't mine," Jeremy yelled back.

"Stop lying. Get your butt upstairs unless you want to get paddled in front of April. Move, mister," Jenna said, going to pull Jeremy off the bench.

April reddened. She stood up.

"Um, Jenna, don't! Jeremy is right. Those aren't his. I put them in his drawer to get him in trouble," April said, trembling. She looked at Jeremy. "I'm sorry, I was pissed about Annabelle. I was going to take them out before anyone noticed!"

"What? You set me up? I can't believe this," Jeremy hissed.

Jenna blinked and let go of Jeremy's arm.

"I'm sorry, Jeremy, I-I just assumed," Jenna trailed off.

"Yeah, like you always do," Jeremy said, getting up. "Are you going to paddle her or just let her get away with it?"

"Jeremy, I apologize. I know you are angry, but we've caught you smoking before...," Jenna tried.

"Save it," Jeremy said, running up to his room.

"Jeremy, I'm sorry," April called out, her eyes spilling over with hot tears. "Oh gosh, he hates me now."

Jenna crossed her arms over her chest.

"Young lady, I think we need to have a little talk," Jenna said firmly. April grabbed a napkin and dabbed at her eyes.

"I'll pack up my stuff. You were nothing but nice to me," April wept.

Jenna softened and her mouth opened, "Oh honey, we're not sending you away, but you are in trouble. Now, start from the beginning. What in the world were you thinking? And how did you get the cigarettes?"

April plopped back down on the bench.

"I found them downstairs in the work bench when we were looking for costume stuff," April said.

"In Ric's workbench?" Jenna asked, her lips tightening. Maybe April wasn't going to be the only one getting punished tonight.

"Yes, ma'am," April answered. Then, she told Jenna everything.

"So Annabelle was in Jeremy's room?" Jenna pressed.

"I think. I heard them talking," April admitted.

"I appreciate you telling me the truth. I have to confess I never thought about how easily a vampire could get in once invited," Jenna said. "But aside from that, you did know about their relationship. We talked about it that night at the lake..."
"When we got spanked," April finished in a small voice.

"Yes. I can see you feel terrible, but I think you need another taste of the spatula," Jenna said, going over to the utensils on the counter. She picked the biggest spatula. "Let's get this over with and then we both owe Jeremy an apology."

"O-Okay," April stammered, getting up to head upstairs.

"Nope. Lean over the counter," Jenna said with authority.

"But what if someone sees?" April protested.

"That shouldn't be your concern, the behavior that led to you getting spanked should be what's on your mind," Jenna said, pointing to the island.

"Sorry, Jenna," April said, glumly, heading over to the spot. She paused and then leaned over and reached over to grab the other side.

Jenna came over and lifted up April's shirt, pulling it up.

Thwack! Thwack!

April felt the first two licks sting the seat of her cheer shorts.

"Ah," she gasped, looking back.

"Eyes front," Jenna ordered, holding up April's shirt and yanking down the thin shorts with the other. "These need to come down."

April gasped louder as Jenna started spanking her over her panties.

Thwack! Thwack!

Thwack! Thwack!

"Owwww," April moaned, shuffling her feet.

Thwack! Thwack! Thwack! Thwack! Thwack! Thwack!

"You know better than to try to set someone up. Being angry with someone isn't an excuse," Jenna lectured.

Thwack! Thwack! Thwack! Thwack! Thwack! Thwack!

"OW! I-I know! Ouch. Darn," April heaved, letting go of the counter, about to throw her hands up. But before she could, Jenna pelted her upper thighs with the large, rubber instrument.

Thwack! Thwack! Thwack! Thwack! Thwack! Thwack!

"OWIEEEEEEEE," April howled, dancing from foot to foot.

"Hands back down. You are going to learn a lesson here," Jenna went on, going back to cracking her over her white nylon bikini briefs.

Thwack! Thwack! Thwack! Thwack!

"Whoa! What do we have here?" Ric said, coming into the kitchen. Neither Jenna, nor April, had heard Ric entering the house.

Thwack! Thwack!

"April planted those in Jeremy's drawers," Jenna pointed with the spatula, giving Ric a meaningful look. "She found them in your stuff in the garage."

Thwack! Thwack!

"Oh, um, those weren't mine. Sorry, I forgot about them," Ric said, putting his bag on the chair.

"Hmmm," Jenna said, as April wiggled and started to cry.

"They weren't even mine. I swear," Ric said.

Jenna rolled her eyes, "You sound like a kid."

Thwack! Thwack! Thwack! Thwack! Thwack! Thwack!

Thwack! Thwack! Thwack! Thwack! Thwack! Thwack!

Jenna finished up with six strong whacks on each cheek that left April's bum pink through her underpants. She pulled up the girl's shorts and put the spoon on the island.

Ric was eating the last piece of pizza.

"I was going to make dinner!" Jenna chided.

Ric looked guilty, but kept eating.

"Forget it, maybe we can go out? Did you tell her?" Ric said, as April sobbed in Jenna's arms.

"No! I didn't think this was the right time," Jenna snapped. But then she looked down at April. "Honey, let me wipe your face."

Jenna grabbed a napkin and had April blow her nose.

"I-I can't b-believe I d-did that," April wept.

Ric put down the crust and embraced her.

He whispered, as Jenna went to put the spatula in the sink and wash her hands, "Well, now I think I'm the one in trouble. You alright?"

"Y-Yes, but J-Jer is real m-mad," April stuttered.

Ric sat and pulled April into his lap. "It'll be okay. We wanted to talk to you."

Jenna came back as April was letting Ric pat her back as she sat on his lap.

"Honey, we were thinking that we'd like to adopt you. You know, formally," Jenna said. "But only if it is okay with you. I know your dad just passed and-."

"Y-Yes!" April erupted, bursting into fresh tears. "I-I w-would l-love that!"

"Really?" Ric asked, smiling. "Are you sure? You can stay here regardless..."
"No, t-that would be w-wonderful," April said, wiping at her face again. Her bottom still smarted, but the sting was now, almost forgotten.

"I'm so happy," Jenna said, letting tears drip down her face and leaning over to hug April.

"But what about J-Jeremy? And E-Elena? Did you a-ask them?" April wondered.

"Yes," Jenna replied. "We would actually like to adopt all three of you."

"Oh b-boy, then I better go talk to Jeremy now," April said, her big eyes wide. "But I'm so happy!"

"We are, too," Jenna said. "But let me talk to Jeremy real quickly first."

"Sure," April answered.

Mikaelson Mansion

Stables

Elijah had made dinner and bathed the children and put them to bed. He hadn't heard from Emma or Dorian yet. Nor Tristan. Tristan was a good thing. Let the new leader of the Strix think he was in total control and he'd never see Elijah coming to tear down his throne.

Elijah let the dogs run ahead of him. They were both putting on some weight and muscle from their newly improved diet and the daily exercise they got.

Elijah saw Damon and Kol working on some spells past the lake, but his mind was on one horse trainer...

"Hey, I was just thinking about you," Hayley said brightly. She had come to rub down Azul after riding him around the property. A horse like this had to run.

Elijah felt a heat creep into his face.

"Oh, really, well, here I am? How is our equine friend doing?" Elijah said, going to pat Azul.

"Splendid," Hayley gushed. She told Elijah about their ride. As she leaned to pick up a brush from the stable floor, Elijah saw something on her upper right shoulder.

"That's an interesting mark on your back," Elijah commented, his eyes picking up the details.

Hayley's hand reached up. "Oh yeah, it must be a birth mark. I forget I have it."

"It looks like a moon from this angle," Elijah went on. "Like a crescent. Miss Marshall, may I inquire a bit about your past?"

"It's Hayley, please," Hayley quipped. This man was so formal. She was surprised he didn't wear that navy suit all night.

"I am sorry, Hayley," Elijah said. "You mentioned you learned about horses at your school?"

"Yes, I must have been in some sort of accident," Hayley recalled. "They found me as a child and I had no memory of, well, anything really."

"Oh," Elijah said, the hairs on the back of his neck standing up. "That is unusual. If I may ask, how did you know you were a werewolf?"

"Oh, um, I got attacked one night," Hayley said. "I was working in the stables and...you can guess the rest. A pitch fork in the right time and boom! Next full moon I was turning...The police could never figure out where the guy came from or who he was."

"That's unfortunate," Elijah said. "But fortunate that you are here with us."
Hayley looked into Elijah's dark, hazel brown eyes. She felt stunned for a moment. His angular, strong jar and high cheek bones made her feel something, want something.

"I feel like...I don't know, like we've known each other before," Hayley finally purred.

The spell was broken but a shout outside. Whoops of joy. The horse snorted and pranced in the close stall.

"Shall we go investigate?" Elijah asked, holding out his hand.

"Gladly," Hayley said, taking it. She felt it again. Something melted inside of her and her insides felt warm. She felt safe.

Grounds

"You did it," Kol hollered.

Damon smiled in relief, "Finally."

"What's the celebration?" Elijah asked, he let go of Hayley's hand and reached down to pat Andrei, who was carrying a ball in his mouth. He had him release the ball and tossed it to the smaller collie, Ioana. She caught it and ran off.

"He did it. Damon finally was able to cast an inferno spell without being brassed off!" Kol said, picking up his nephew and spinning him around.

"Oww, watch the-," Damon hissed, stopping when he noticed Hayley.

"Sorry, mate," Kol laughed, putting him down.

"Good, then," Elijah stated. "You are progressing. This doesn't mean that you are ready to-."

"Yes, I know, I know. You sound like my dad," Damon said. "He already read me the riot act."

Elijah glanced at Hayley. She didn't need to hear all this, although he was convinced she was telling the truth about her past. But still, it was an odd history...and that mark? Something niggled at the back of Elijah's mind, but now was not the time.

"Come now, surely it is time to take a break. I would break out the good bourbon, but I think you two ought to get some rest," Elijah said evenly. He didn't want to indicate that they had an early bedtime tonight in front of Hayley.

"Aye, we are most tuckered," Kol said. "Night."

"Night, brother, nephew," Elijah said. "Good work."

"Thanks," Damon said. He grimaced as he realized that bedtime tonight might not be much of a celebration. Surely, his father wouldn't put him to bed with another trip over his knee!

Gilbert Residence

Jeremy's Room

"Jer, it's me. Can I come in?" Jenna asked, tapping on his door.

Jenna thought she heard a "I don't care" or something similar and went in.

Jeremy was sketching in bed frantically.

"Sweetheart, I'm really sorry that I hurt your feelings," Jenna started.

Jeremy continued to sketch, ignoring her for a long moment.

"It's okay. I mean they were in my drawer, right?" Jeremy said, not looking up.

"Yes, but I am afraid I lost my temper a bit, too. I should be a better listener," Jenna confided. "You know, I get your mom in trouble once for leaving candles burning in her room. Our mom didn't believe her that it was me and made her throw them all out. Ha, she complained about that forever...Guess I wasn't the best sister."

"Mom loved you," Jeremy grumbled. "Did April get in trouble?"
"Yeah," Jenna started. "I gave her a good round of the spoon. She wants to come up and apologize, too. We told her about the adoption."

"Oh," Jeremy said. "I thought you were going to wait until this weekend."
"Yeah, well, big mouth Ric had other plans," Jenna smiled. "How about this? You forgive April and I'll forget about your girlfriend flying up to visit you in your room. Deal?"
Jeremy's eyes grew wide and then he recovered.

"Um, she doesn't fly, she climbs really well," Jeremy said finally. "It's a deal."

Jenna leaned over and brushed the hair away from his eyes.

"Thanks, honey. I really am sorry, Jeremy," Jenna repeated.

"I'm not mad. I mean, this all actually works out in the end. How weird would it be if I had dated my own sister?" Jeremy laughed.

Jenna smiled, "Honestly, that would be awkward. I'll call her up."

"Don't leave me out," Elena said, popping out of the connecting bathroom.

Jeremy groaned, "Is there any privacy around here?"
"No way," Elena snickered. "And Annabella was in your room? Naughty, naughty."

"Hey, Stefan used to come up that way all the time!" Jeremy protested.

"Ugh, we'll getting better screens on all the windows," Jenna determined. "And maybe locks."

"Ah, vampires have hands!" Jeremy snickered.

Jenna bounced on the bed and tickled Jeremy.

"Stop it, you little brat. No more sneaking around. Next time, invite Annabelle in through the front door," Jenna exclaimed.

Jeremy fought her off and pleaded that he would. He may even invite her over for dinner.
