A/N: Welcome to this week's chapter of "Starting a New Chapter"! Today, we're diving into the beginning of my adventure! But I better be careful...real scary dangers lay ahead. Enjoy!
(Lexie's P.O.V)
I slowly woke up as I heard the sound of the wind gently blowing.
"Ughhhh...my head." I groaned, rubbing my head. "Where…?!"
After rubbing the sleep out of my eyes, I looked around and saw I was in some sort of tent. The only supplies that were in there were a sleeping bag, which I was currently lying on, a flashlight, and a hiking backpack.
While I was concerned where I was, and confused on how I got here, the environment wasn't threatening, so I could breathe easy for a second.
I was lost in thought when I heard the flap of the tent open and someone claimed.
"Oh, my! Are you alright, miss? You took quite a fall."
I looked and I was shocked to see a genie like figure coming in. He kinda reminded me of Genie from Aladdin, except he was red, not blue, a pipe in his hand, wearing a vest, light blue pants, and his shoes looked like magic genie lamps.
Not bad choices in fashion, I can tell you that.
"Yeah, I'm fine, thank you. Hey...where am I?"
"Oh, you're in my tent in Inkwell Isle 2." The genie answered. "My name is Djimmi the Great. What's yours?"
"Oh, I'm Lexie, nice to meet-!"
I then realized…wait Inkwell Isle?!
"Wait, did you say Inkwell Isle?!" I sputtered.
"Erm, yes. Why? Something wrong?" Djimmi asked, arching an eyebrow.
"Oh, it's that...I've been here before. I take it you remember the wedding incident with Audrey?"
He pondered over for a second before replying "Oh, yes. Cuphead and Mugman asked for my help. Oh, wait I remember you! You're that one that was helping lead the attack!"
"Yep, that's me!" I beamed with a smile.
"Well, good to see you again." He beamed. "So what brings you to Inkwell?"
"Uhhh...lemme see."
I looked down in thought while trying to search my memory.
"Last thing I remember is Audie gave me some book, I put it in the backseat of my car, some crazy lady was chasing me around and then…"
Oh no…please tell me they weren't…!
"Oh my gosh! My friends! We were in a car crash!" I cried.
"Oh, my! Are you hurt?!" He asked, carefully looking at me.
"I-I'm not but my friends...oh my god they better be alive…" I stammered.
"Hey, don't worry. I'm sure they're around Inkwell somewhere." He assured me. "It is a bit big but I'm sure of you ask around someone can help you."
"It's nice to chat with ya Djimmi but I gotta run. I'll feel better knowing my friends are okay."
"Very well. Good luck, but keep a sharp eye out." He warned me. "Danger often lurks in these areas."
"I understand. Thank you for the shelter man, I appreciate it."
With a wave, I slipped out of the tent and started on my way to find my friends.
Gosh, I hope they're okay…
(Normal P.O.V)
As Lexie wandered the rocky roads of Isle 2, little did she know that an imp was watching her.
"Hey, she must be the new one. I better tell the boss!"
The imp then scurried off to notify the Devil.
Lexie continued wandering the fairgrounds until she spotted a ferris wheel. It was fairly large, about 6 to 10 buggies that were sort of shaped like bird cages (which she didn't mind since they reminded her of the ones from a theme park in Texas).
"Ah, a ferris wheel!" Lexie mused. "I bet I can get a good bird's eye view on that!"
As she approached the ride, she could hear the operator cry out, "Step right up! See the world of Innwell from the skies! Ride the ferris wheel and gaze upon the world through the eyes of a bird!"
"Hi sir, how much for a ride?" Lexie asked.
"Well, nice to see you want to take a ride!" The operator replied smoothly. "It's your lucky day; pretty girls like you ride free of charge."
"Oh sweet! Thanks!"
Gesturing to one of the buggies, the man instructed, "Right this way miss. Watch your step please and enjoy the ride!"
Taking a polite and grateful nod, Lexie stepped into the ride, not knowing that more imps were watching her from below.
"Okay, she's in! Let's get her to the boss!" One of them exclaimed.
The ferris wheel rose higher and higher while Lexie took in the view of the whole island, making mental notes of any landmarks she could.
"I'll admit; this is more than I saw the last time I was here...seriously cool." She commented.
As she looked out gazing at the entire area, just then, for some odd reason, a long sheet was thrown over the buggie she was in.
"Uhhhh...what the-?!"
Suddenly, Lexie felt as if something was moving her and in a hot second she fell fast like from the Hollywood Tower Of Terror.
She screamed and was fearful of the outcome, but then after a second it landed with a THUD, causing her to fall. Not a second goes by when the door opens. Still dizzy and disoriented from the fall, she steps out to find herself in a large dark area.
"Oy, that's it. No more free fall rides…" Lexie groaned.
Once she collected herself, she looked around and noticed that she was alone and was both confused but a bit nervous. While she wasn't scared of the dark, being alone in an area like this was not one to enjoy.
"Um...hellloooo? Is there anyone here?!" She called, her voice echoing.
Lexie looked around for a bit when suddenly she felt something jump on her but she couldn't see because it was dark.
"Wha-?! HEY-!"
She tried fighting back, but with no idea where they were coming from, it was hard to know. Then, one of them shoved a cloth over her mouth and nose. It smelled like…oh no!
"Chloroform...no...."
It was not long before she was knocked out as her entire vision turned completely black.
(Lexie's P.O.V)
A while later, I woke up and found myself bound and gagged in a large sack and I felt someone carrying me somewhere.
While I was glad to be okay, I was still concerned about who was holding me and where they were taking me.
I then heard the sound of a door opening and someone stepping inside. Though, I could have sworn I smelled the scent of…cigar smoke?
Then, I heard voices…familiar voices.
"Terribly sorry to disturb you, Boss but the boys said they found another one roaming about. Figured we get a heads start." A smooth, deep and seemingly sauve voice informed.
"Good…" A gruff, deeper voice mused. "Now place them down and show me the new one."
Oh, come on! Don't tell me they were…!
"Oh HELL, no!" I screamed out in thought. "Not those freaks again!"
I started muffling very loud yells while kicking and squirming in whoever's arms.
"Whoa! Someone seems restless." Dice exclaimed.
Oh, wait! I was in… DICE's arms….greeeat.
"Nonetheless, show me who they are." The Devil ordered.
Next thing I knew, I felt myself being sat down on a chair and the bag was quickly lifted from me. I got to behold the freakin' Devil himself sitting at a desk across from me.
Double great.
"Ah, welcome- what the-!? You again?!"
I then let out a muffled angry growl. Sure enough, I was in his private office, with both the creepy manager and the owner of the Casino.
Triple great.
While the Devil was clearly not happy to see me, Dice reacted differently.
"Huh, didn't see that coming." He snickered, as he proceeded to take off my gag and placed his hands on my shoulders.
"Argh…" The Devil groaned, pinching the bridge of his nose. "Out of all the people she chose it had to be you!"
"Uh, EXCUSE ME?!" I yelled, very furious that he had the gall to kidnap me here. "I wasn't exactly planning on seeing YOUR ugly face again!"
"Well, too bad! You have to!" The Devil snapped back. "But seeing that I have a head start I can work with this."
"And since you've been here, sweetcheeks, I'm sure things will go smoother and quicker." Dice sneered.
Rolling my eyes I deadpanned, "Ugh, would you quit callin' me 'sweetcheeks'?!"
"Oh, come on, it suits you." He argued. "Plus, I can't call you dollface. That was for your friend."
The Devil gave a groan and then a deep breath. "Nonetheless, I can work with this."
With that, the Devil flicked his wrist and quickly produced a parchment like magic. I read the top. Big bold letters; SOUL CONTRACT
Oh, for the love of Pete…did he seriously think I was gonna fall for this?!
"Alright, let's make this quick; sign the dotted line and we can get this over with."
"Yeah, nice try, Satan!" I scoffed. "I'm born and raised Christian, your stupid parlor tricks won't work on me."
"Ooooh, looks like we got a tough case." Dice claimed.
Man, I wanted to hurt him soooo bad.
"Indeed." The Devil stated. "I'm sorry, Ms. Luthor, but unless you sign this you won't be leaving my casino and since Dice has taken a liking to you, I'll let him keep you company."
Oh, that he remembers!
"Hmph!" I turned my head, snuffing him.
I felt Dice putting an arm around me as he teased (in a flirty tone might I add), "Awwww, someone's pouty."
"Hands. OFF!" I growled, squirming a bit.
"Or what? You can't hurt me seeing as you're all tied up." He reminded me.
"Oh, I'll find a way to hurt you, pal. Just don't touch me."
"What? Like this?" He then slid a finger down my cheek and boy did that send shivers up my spine.
"Yep. Really pushing my buttons now."
"Resisting is pointless, Lexie." The Devil sneered. "Sign the contract and you can be on your merry little way."
"Counter productive, isn't it?" I questioned.
The Devil arched an eyebrow. "I beg your pardon?"
"What, I sign this and you let me go?" I repeated, then gave a gentle scoff. "C'mon. It's obviously for my soul, I ain't stupid."
"Well, yes and no. Yes, I want your soul, but it's also needed for something else." The Devil claimed.
I'm not sure why, but the smile he had…gave me a terrible feeling that he knew something that I didn't.
"Uh...what?" I asked.
"I'm not going to tell you, it's not my place to tell you." The Devil claimed. "Not yet anyway. Just write your name and I'll set you free. Simple as that."
I thought it over for a second. Yes, I'm in a bad sitch…but something about what the Devil said gave me an idea.
"Okay, fine. You got a fair deal. But uh...there's a problem." I spoke.
"And that is?" The Devil inquired, arching an eyebrow.
"Uh, hello? Isn't it obvious?" I asked in annoyance, gesturing to my bonds.
He gave himself a chuckle. "Oh, right, my mistake. Dice if you would."
"Yessir." Dice responded.
He reaches down to untie me. Once my bonds were completely removed, Dice handed me the pen.
"Here ya go, sweetcheeks."
Taking the contract in hand, I took a breath and wrote on the dotted line.
Now, before y'all say anything, I have a reason for this.
Once that was done, I rolled it up, and handed it back to him.
"There. All signed." I simply put.
"There, all you needed to do was cooperate." The Devil snickered. "Interesting how easily you were persuaded unlike the others, but I'm not complaining."
"Coolio. We done now?" I asked.
"We are. Dice, escort Ms. Luthor out of the office, and make sure she gets out without any issues." The Devil ordered his manager.
"Oh, of course Boss."
He then gestured to the door and I proceeded to walk to it, with Dice following behind. I then heard the Devil unroll the parchment and just as I reached for the handle-
"WHAT'S THIS!?"
I jumped, and looked, seeing the angry look on his face.
"Erm, is there an issue, Boss?" Dice calmly asked.
"Well, do YOU know who 'Bye Felicia' is?!" The Devil growled.
Before Dice could reply, I realized my little joke could be the end of me. Without thinking, I punched Dice in the face, flung open the door and bolted the heck outta there.
"Ow!" Dice yelled, grabbing his face.
"ARGH! GUARDS! STOP HER!" The Devil roared out.
Uh oh. Time to go.
As I made a run for it, I felt something in my bag that was bouncing around. I took it out and found a leather sketchbook with an inkwell pen.
"Wait, Audie used something like this before. She could make anything she drew…"
Thinking fast, I drew the hole like in Who Framed Roger Rabbit, and made a run for it, barely missing the imps that were chasing me.
"NOT TODAY, SATAN!" I shouted.
"Whoa! That's new!" An imp claimed.
While the others agreed, they yelped in fright when they heard their master roar:
"IDIOTS! GO AFTER HER!"
Seeing that running wasn't getting me anywhere, I quickly sit down and draw wheels on my boots, creating rollerblades.
"Heh, good ol' Kirby." I giggled.
I skated down fast and managed to get through some imps that were blocking me, knocking them and scattering them like bowling pins as the sound of actual bowling pins being struck down was heard in the background.
Eh, cartoon logic. Never fails.
I blew a raspberry at the distinctly dazed imps, laughing my head off.
While I thought that was funny which it was, I didn't see that a certain blockhead set up a small detour that caused me to skate into that causing me to lose my footing and land hard on my butt.
I sat there, feeling a little disoriented from the collusion. Stupid blockhead had to go and ruin my fun way of making a clean getaway.
"Note to self: Eyes on the road…" I groaned, rubbing my head.
As I stood up, Dice taunted, "Well, looks like I got you off guard. It's a bit rude to leave without saying goodbye."
"It's rude to kidnap people too, but hey who's counting?!" I shouted.
Dice gave a chuckle, "Always got something to say like that huh? No matter, let's head back to the boss so you can make your farewell official."
"Yeah, I vote NO!"
With that, I stomped on his foot and bolted past him.
"Ow! Argh!" Dice yelled out in pain and frustration as he grabbed his foot to alleviate the pain while hopping on the other (Yes, like in the Tom and Jerry cartoons).
Seeing that he was distracted, I made a run for it. I rushed down the hallway and saw the front door. I was about to reach for it, when suddenly, several cards popped up startling me.
"Gyah!" I yelped, moving back.
Just then, I heard Dice behind me:
"You thought you could get away huh? Hate to say it, sweetcheeks, but you're not going anywhere."
"Oh yeah? Says who?" I shot back.
"Says me and Mr. S." He replied. "Now, be a good girl and come with me so we can chat with the boss."
"Not on your LIFE!"
Though to be honest, I felt a bit nervous. I got Dice stopping me from the front and his card goons behind me. There wasn't another pathway since this area has the front door.
Just before he could grab me, suddenly a small portal opened up and two small hands pulled me in.
"Whoa!"
(Normal P.O.V)
"What the?!" Dice exclaimed in shock.
Before his very eyes, a small portal had opened up behind Lexie. Two pairs of small hands then reached up and snatched her, pulling her in.
Before he could act, the portal closed. And the only ones left in the room were his cards and himself.
Lexie had actually escaped. Just like the others.
He groaned in frustration. "Great, just great. Boss is not gonna be thrilled…"
A/N: Wow, that was a wild ride! But at least I got rescued by the Cups! What will happen next?! Find out next week in "Starting a New Chapter!"
