Chimera scrambled over to the doorway trying to chase after Sodom with each step just being a bit less wobbly than the last. Just why is he running so fast?
From a door on the entire other side of the infirmary the muffled voice of Primarina called out. "Hey can you not be so loud? I'm trying to… work on… screw it, just be quiet!"
"Sorry, I just-" before Chimera could answer the sentence they kept out of the room.
"Wow. Wow. Could've at least finished your sentence."
From the infirmary Chimera found themself in a large hallway with pink walls. On the right was a dead end with a window, on a long way over to the left was a large room with a staircase that was most likely a lobby.
Wait, I shouldn't run, I might bump into someone. I should walk a bit faster though.
Chimera began to briskly walk through the long hallway while passing by an opening with a label at the top that said waiting room.
They soon made it to the large, tall, circular room that was most likely a lobby. On the other side of it was an another hallway, to the left was a large staircase leading up to three floors, to the right was a large door that led outside, right next to the door was a desk with a white Meowstic, and in the middle was a few dozen of other Pokémon going through the motions of the guild with one of them, being an Arctic Vulpix, not noticing that he was running straight at them.
Episode Two Part Three
Information Overload
"Hrrk!" The Arctic Vulpix ran straight into one of the forelegs causing Chimera to let out a surprised yelp. "I just hurt the other leg, I don't want it to happen to another," they said to themself. Thankfully they weren't hurt. Same can't be said for the Arctic Vulpix who slammed his head into the hard exoskeleton of Chimera's foreleg.
"Ouch! Arceus damnit!" The Arctic Vulpix cried out with a paw on their head, "you should get out of the way when I'm going somewhere …" Soon the Arctic Vulpix looked up at the large behemoth above them realizing that they might have made a mistake.
"Oh, I-I'm sorry," thankfully Chimera is one to forgive. "Do you need any help? I mean, I can't really do much but-" Chimera tried to ask before a scream echoed throughout the Guild.
"AAAAAAAARGH! What the- what the hell is wrong with that thing?!" The Arctic Vulpix screamed out, backing away from Chimera quickly.
"Huh?"
"What the hell is going on?"
"What in the world is that?!"
"Oh Arceus."
"That is, oh that's horrible."
"What the fu-"
"Urgh. Ew."
Were what some of the disgusted, surprised, or confused voices yelled out as sets eyes began to cut through Chimera.
"I-I," Chimera tried to stammer out anything but all the eyes pierced through them leaving them frozen in the sight of the eyes. Their heart began to feel like it was trying to break out of their ribs and burst out.
A Pikachu rushed over to the Arctic Vulpix who went all the way to the middle of the lobby. "Don't just run off, Naven! We have a test to do…" the Pikachu trailed off as they saw Chimera standing there in horror.
For what felt like decades Chimera stood frozen as sweat drops rolled down their back to the view of all the Pokémon staring at them. Their body was weak and tense while their breath began to hasten.
They were all staring at them. It was horrible. They hated the feeling. But they couldn't move.
Before they were about to freeze over a certain Pokémon popped out from the staircase.
"Hey!" Charizard pushed past some of the Pokémon while walking down the stairs. "Probably shouldn't have left you," Charizard took one of Chimera's paws and practically dragged them all the way up the stairs to the third floor. He seemed so casual about it as if no one was there. As if it was so simple.
"The hell was that?"
"Who's that?"
"Naven we gotta go."
"If you want to know, ask."
"Huh, feel like I saw that on one of the boards."
"Interesting."
"Urgh, can't believe I touched that."
"Gross."
"Thank goodness someone's bringing it away."
Chimera stayed silent while murmurs and whispers went from mouth to ear. They struck hard. They understood why they said it though. It shouldn't hurt but it still did.
"Hey," Charizard snapped in front of Chineras face. They were at a stop.
"H-Huh?"
"You kind of zoned out for a bit and you need to be aware in order for me to push you into a door," the two were standing in front of a room with a double door entryway in it for once, unlike the other room entrances which were basically just tall curved holes. It was to the left of the central staircase.
The doors themself were a purplish red color made out of a nice mahogany wood although they were a bit shorter than Chimera so they would have to duck a bit while entering.
"Why are you just staring at the doors? I mean they are nice but we gotta, like you know? Go in?"
"Sorry, I-" Chimera tried to answer before the door slammed open due to a frustrated Delphox rubbing her nose.
"Ugh, just where is he- oh. There you are."
"Hey," Charizard waved.
"What were you thinking just leaving them? This is important. You can't just do stuff like that."
"Yeah, I know. Take your human friend or whatever they are and go talk," Charizard began trying to push Chimera into the room.
Human? The word gave Chimera a strange feeling.
Chimera ducked their way into the room as Delphox went back inside. Charizard stayed outside, pouting.
The Guild Masters was well decorated and organized, everything looked perfect, except for the large scrambled pieces of paper scattered all over the ornate desk in the middle with Delphox sitting across it calmly.
"I would say take a seat but we don't really have one large enough and there's only one in this room so you could just sit on the floor," Delphox gave them a kind smile.
"T-thank you," Chimera sat down on the cold wooden floor. At sitting height they were as tall as Delphox.
"So hello, my name is Avery Sinclair as you may know from Charizard. I am the Guildmaster of the Lively Guild as Goodra may have told you."
"I- yes, I have been told by Goodra. And for my introduction I'm," Chimera paused for a bit. It felt wrong to say their name, it just felt like something else was supposed to be said. Why did they feel like they wanted to say something else? Why did they feel as if it was so wrong to say that they were, "Si- Chimera. I am… Chimera, as you may have known from the only people I met," They cut off their thoughts. There wasn't a point.
"Yes, Team Parallel, Goodra, and the two other Pokémon. You know Team Parallel wasn't actually supposed to do your job," Avery scribbled down something on a piece of paper.
"My job?"
"Yes, well technically it was Goodra's but who cares about specifics. I know I don't."
That definitely true from the looks of this.
Avery kept on going, "your job was supposed to go to some of the more experienced guild members but I think it came out nicely in the end."
Am I supposed to know what that means?
"Yeah, I-I guess it did?"
Avery looked down at a piece of paper on the desk, it had few things on it. A list probably. Chimera didn't bother reading it, "Do you have any ideas on where you could be staying? You could stay here if you want."
"Goodra said the same thing."
"About staying at the guild?"
"Yeah. Since there's practically no options I guess I'll take up your offer," there's going to be a lot of people who are going to see me then. It's better than living in the forest though, I think.
"That's good," Avery wrote something down again.
Avery suddenly looked at them with a serious and cold expression apart from the soft, calm smiles she gave them earlier and asked, "I'm going to ask you something. If you don't know, don't ever mention it to anyone. No words will be spread about it okay?"
Chimera gave a slow nod.
"Do you know anything about Abel and the Apolymi?"
"Apolymi…?" Word left a strange taste in their mouth. It was bitter, but familiar… "what is that?"
"Nevermind," Avery quickly turned the conversation and her facial expression, like a record. She looked relieved. Slightly. "I only have one thing to ask you now."
"Okay…"
"Are you a human?"
"I-I," a human. A human. Chimera absorbed the word. A noun. Meaning: no idea. But it was important right? It was a type of person. A species not from here. Right?
Chimera responded, they weren't entirely sure with their answer, "No. I think."
"That's interesting."
"It is?"
"Yes," Avery readjusted her glasses. "How do you know what a human is if you have no memories at all?"
"I-I don't know…"
"Very well. Think about it."
Avery folded her hands and put them on the desk. Chimera looked at her face. She seemed to be intrigued but also a bit wary, "those are the last questions I will ask you. Well, except for this: Is there anything you want to know?"
"Not really."
"You're very talkative, huh?"
"I guess, I'm not," Chimera took a breath. "I'm sorry I'm not talking a lot, it's just that… I don't really know what's going on. With like, everything. It's only been a bit more than a day that I've been awake and there's just a lot of things I'm trying to take in. Everything just seems to go by so quickly."
"It must be hard."
"Yeah, it is," Chimera looked at themself. They didn't like it and practically everyone they met so far agreed. "I woke up, I immediately hurt someone, ran away, got arrested, the person I hurt is only giving me pity the entire time, I fainted, I woke up in some hospital room, got asked a lot of questions that made me feel like some kind of new discovery instead of a person, now had a whole bunch of people yell at me, and now I feel like I'm being interrogated. Well, I guess I am but… I just feel like I'm too slow for what's happening." Chimera looked at the floor.
"I- yeah. I probably shouldn't have just tried to question you so quickly, huh?" I just needed to know," Avery fiddled with the strings on the conspiracy board.
"Why?"
"A human," the two word's immediately caught Chimera's attention. "A human has appeared recently, transformed into a Pokémon. I'm not sure if you know but whenever one appears a disaster follows. One that has the chance of destroying the entire world."
"I didn't."
Avery stood up from her chair and turned her back to Chimera and began to look out of the window. Light shown through. They could hear the sound of various pedestrians speaking outside through it. All joyful, all lively.
"We are supposed to act as a savior. A hero. The reason they appear is because someone summoned them through worlds in order to save the day. I wanted to ask you these questions as soon as you got up because every moment matters. You can't risk a second, and I can't risk the world again." A chill filled the air.
"Again?"
"I am a human. I may have saved the world twice out of the seven times, but even if I have, I need to be sure. I can't take a risk."
"Oh…"
"You might be more involved than you think. I'm not sure how, but if you were found there, atop that mountain, there's a chance. And I will take it," Avery turned back to Chimera. In her eyes there was a determined fire but in the form of a tiny shard of ice was regret hidden inside the inferno.
"I'm sorry if I went on a ramble there," she scratched her neck. "I sounded a bit too serious didn't I? But I think I got what I needed from you. Thank you very much," a smile grew. It wasn't kind, it wasn't anything. It was just a smile.
"It's fine. I understand."
"You'll need a room if you're going to be living here from now on, I'll get some stuff prepared. In the meantime though, why don't you check out some other stuff with the guild. You're going to need to get used to it."
