A west side short story VII

March 20th, 1984

Evan's hand slid up to remove her jumper, tossing it casually onto a nearby chair. As he did, he was pleasantly surprised to find her already naked underneath, and a smile spread across his face. His hands deftly moved to cup her breasts, his touch gentle yet possessive. Emma retaliated by sliding her hand into his jeans, her fingers deftly exploring his body with a mischievous smile before grabbing him, smiling at his groan.

"Isn't this exactly what you had in mind when you asked me to come up here to 'talk'?" Emma inquired, planting a kiss on his neck.

"Guilty," Evan admitted.

"All right…Then, I sentence you to…" She said, unzipping his jeans and pulling them down, her thumb playing with his tip, kissing him, pressing her breast against his chest.

Evan kissed her breast making her head fall back while her hand kept working on his hardness before she smiled mischievously at him and knelt in front of him. He couldn't avoid smiling sheepishly at the image before him. Her blue eyes remained locked on his and she took him into her mouth, stroking him while her tongue twisted around him.

"Emma…Fuck" Evan growled.

Her mouth closed tighter around him and kept sucking harder until his surroundings suddenly switched from their room to a dark cave. His heart started pounding, and Evan felt his chest tighten, making each breath a struggle. Emma's hand slid up on his thighs to grab his ass and her mouth moved faster. Evan start moaning, he laid a hand on Emma's head.

"Emma…" He moaned "Stop…STOP!" Evan cried, pushing her away just in time before ejaculating.

"Sorry… did I hurt you?" Emma asked with concern, cleaning her forehead with her hand.

Evan blinked, and suddenly, he found himself back in their room. He slowly lowered his head to meet the gaze of the girl who was looking at him, a look of confusion etched on her face.

"No…I just didn't want to come in your mouth" Evan said, her face softened at his reply.

"Oh…I would have pulled back in time, don't worry" she said, winking before kissing his tip, licking the last drops, as her hand massaged his balls.

"That was amazing!" Evan said, helping her up before tugging her towards him and sliding his middle finger in her line, kissing her deeply.

Evan pushed her onto the bed and knelt on the floor at the end of the bed, spreading her legs as he bent his head to taste her. His tongue circled her clit, and lapped at her in long strokes making her moan, her hands gripping his hair. Her moans made him harden again, her foot on his shoulder, as he slid a finger inside her, gently playing with it, while his left hand reached to her nipple.

"Evan…I want you now…" Emma groaned, pulling him towards her by his hair.

Evan crawled on her, licking her stomach, kissing her sides, sucking her nipples before he reached her face and kissed her, gently biting her ear. he straightened up, spread her thighs a little to make room for himself, then took a condom from the bedside table and unrolled it on his erection before slowly penetrating her.

He placed his hands on her breasts and began thrusting slowly inside her, his tip exploring her. Emma wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him down to her, his chest pressing against her breasts. He continued to move in her, her moans against his ear, her tongue playing with his earlobe, excited him each time more, driving him to fuck her harder.

He kept on fucking her, Emma's hands slid down his back and squeezed his ass. He straightened up and continued his embrace, admiring the beauty of the girl moaning under him, their bodies dripping with sweat on the sheets, his heartbeats increasing. He increased his speed until she suddenly brought her hands to his face, and they came together.

As Evan gradually reduced the intensity of his movements, she let her hands glide gently from his face to his soaked chest, and they locked eyes, breathing heavily. He continued to move inside her very slowly until he leaned over to kiss her tenderly before finally withdrawing and laying down beside her.

Lying next to him, she turned her face against his shoulder, her lips softly caressing his skin as her leg entwined with his. They remained still and silent for what seemed like an eternity, neither wanting to disturb the moment. Finally, Emma broke the silence.

"Are we still just friends having fun?" she asked him, her fingers dancing lightly on his chest.

"The other day you asked me if someone was stopping me from leaving... The only reason I'm still here is you," Evan replied.

Emma shifted to lie on top of him and let out a sigh as she massaged her forehead with her fingertips. Evan placed his hands on her ass, anxiously awaiting her reaction. He knew that these kinds of comments had the potential to question the validity and usefulness of the community, and he didn't want to upset her.

"In the past few days, we haven't had to do much, so I've had time to think about it... Or, rather, I've thought about what you said the other day," Emma said.

"You have?" Evan asked, surprised.

"Yes. While trying to be useful and do what's right, I feel like I've lost a part of myself along the way. I don't recognize the girl who rebelled and left her home, nor the one who stood up to those cops in Munster," Emma confessed.

"Do you want out of this?" Evan asked.

"What about you?" Emma countered.

"I'm scared," Evan admitted.

"Scared of what? From someone here?" Emma probed, her eyes wide.

"No, it's not from someone here. It's from the outside... I don't quite understand why, but since our bike ride the other day, I feel like something is lurking outside, trying to get to me," Evan explained.

"Don't you remember?" Emma asked, her eyes widening in surprise.

"Remember what?" Evan asked.

"Back when we met in Hamburg and during the month you came to the meetings, I told you how you always seemed to be paying attention to what was happening behind you... That you seemed paranoid. I thought you had escaped from a cult," Emma reminded him.

"Ooh... So, it's not new," Evan murmured, not remembering any meeting or even having been in Hamburg.

"No, it's not new. But maybe you're right... Maybe we should move from here and find another place just for us. We could still come back to help here and then leave after. Would you like that?" Emma suggested.

"Yes, but here we're safe. Outside, there's a wolf hunting me!" Evan chuckled.

"A wolf?" Emma echoed, puzzled.

"It's stupid," Evan said. "I keep having this dream recently. A wolf chases me through the streets and forests. He never stops, no matter how far I run. He's always running behind me."

"It's only a dream," Emma replied, kissing his chest. "There are no wolves, dogs, or squirrels chasing you. However, take your time to ponder in peace. When you're ready, we'll leave." She opened her eyes wide in surprise when she felt him harden again against her stomach.

"I only kissed you," she said.

"Well," Evan explained, "my hands are on your ass, and your body is warm."

"It wasn't a complaint," she said before straddling him. She grabbed his erection and led the tip under her before filling herself, looking at him fiercely. "I'm going to ride you so hard I'll knock you out."

"Oh, fuck," Evan exclaimed.

"Yeah, fuck!" Emma replied. However, before they could go any further, someone started banging on the door. Soon they heard Áurea calling from behind the door. "Emma!"

"I'm not here! Nobody is here!" Emma replied.

"Your brother is on the phone; he wants to talk to you," Áurea said.

"I don't have any brother!" Emma shouted.

"He says the cops busted him," Áurea said.

"Tell the cops they can shoot him," Emma said, before biting her lip as she started moving her hips slowly on Evan.

"Wait a moment...What? Language, asshole!... He says he knows a lot of stuff that could start some real shit," Áurea said.

Emma rolled her eyes and then rolled over Evan. She left the bed hastily, put a towel around her waist, and opened the door to rush to the phone, leaving the door open behind her with Áurea standing on the doorstep, looking mischievously at a naked Evan.

She grinned. "Hey, Evan, want me to take care of that knockout thing?" Áurea asked, undoing the knot of her trousers, her fingers tickling his toes.

"Er...Thanks, but I'm fine," Evan said, covering his erection with a pillow.

"Really? Don't you think we're way past that?" Áurea asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Er...Hans must be around if you need..." Evan said as Áurea grabbed his ankles.

"I know where he is! I can call him if you want," Áurea said, chuckling.

"No, it's fine..." Evan said, fighting her hand that was trying to steal the pillow from him.

"Sure? No need to be shy, we're just friends having fun...And you owe me from last time, right?" Áurea said.

"I have to take a leak," Evan said.

"Okay..." Áurea said, waving casually a hand before leaving.

After leaving, Evan carelessly tossed aside the pillow and hurried to the bathroom, locking the door behind him. He leaned against the sink and began vigorously pleasuring himself, lost in thoughts of Emma moaning beneath him and his warmth surrounding him. His eyes shut tight as he climaxed, his forehead pressed against the mirror while his semen dripped onto the ceramic below. A deep breath of fresh air filled his lungs, and he slowly opened his eyes, feeling both satisfied and ashamed. However, his self-reflection in the mirror revealed a different emotion. The Evan staring back at him looked shocked, his lips twisted into a grimace of disgust.

"That...That was absolutely pathetic!" mocked the Evan in the mirror with a hearty laugh. "How on earth can someone go from shagging a beauty like her to knocking one out on the sink? HOW?"

Evan stared fearfully at his reflection in the motionless silence while his doppelganger banged on the glass from the other side, impatiently demanding his attention. "HELLOOOO? Time's ticking, mate!"

"Who...Who the bloody hell are you?" mumbled Evan, trembling.

"What? You've got some nerve to ask ME who I am... Really!" retorted the reflection, amused.

"WHO ARE YOU?" shouted Evan, losing his composure.

"Steady on, mate...they'll think you're a nutter! Anyway, what's that on your arm?" asked the reflection, leaning forward to inspect Evan more closely.

Evan's gaze fell upon his arm, and he recoiled in horror, toppling backward and slamming into the small first aid box on the wall. He stared in disbelief at his limb, which was now completely engulfed in a thick, black fur, spreading from his fingertips all the way up to his elbow, where razor-sharp claws had replaced his nails.

"Good God! What's happening to me? What the bloody hell is happening?!" cried Evan, wincing in pain as he desperately attempted to yank the fur from his arms. He then rummaged through the first aid kit for a pair of scissors and began frantically hacking at the fur.

"Stop it! You'll only hurt yourself," warned the guy in the mirror.

Evan dropped the scissors and hurried to the sink, dousing his face with cold water as a knock echoed through the bathroom door.

"Evan, are you alright? I heard someone scream," Emma called out.

"I'm fine! Everything's fine! I'll be out in a tick," Evan replied.

"Now look what you've gone and done. She'll be suspicious and never gobble your knob again," taunted the mirror image, fake tears welling up in his eyes.

"Shut up!" snapped Evan.

"Uh, are you alone in there?" Emma asked.

"Yeah...Yeah, I'll be out in a sec, okay?" Evan assured her.

"Listen, something's come up and I need to head out for a few hours...we'll chat later," Emma said.

"No... wait, give me a sec and I'll come with you!" pleaded Evan, watching as the fur on his arm slowly receded.

"Alright then...but be quick about it!" Emma instructed.

"Off you go, wanker! We'll catch up later!" sneered the mirror image before Evan's reflection returned to normal.

Evan got dressed, descended the stairs, and headed to the living room to find Emma. Instead, he found Niles, who gestured a hand at the front door. Upon stepping outside, Evan noticed a Polo GTI parked in front of the house with the engine running. He climbed into the passenger seat beside Emma, who was tapping his fingers on the steering wheel, waiting for him. As soon as Evan closed his door, she drove away and soon merged into traffic, looking both anxious and irritated as she let out a sigh.

"Whose car is this?" Evan inquired.

"Niles let me borrow it," Emma replied, keeping her eyes on the road.

"So, what's happening with your brother?" Evan asked.

"Who knows... He's probably done something stupid again," Emma said, still focused on driving.

"What kind of stupid?" Evan asked.

"The violent kind of stupid, but I hope I'm wrong," Emma said, her concern palpable.

"Oh... Emma, I don't understand," Evan admitted.

"What don't you understand?" Emma asked.

"Well... You've made it clear that you hate him and want to cut him out of your life, but here you are, driving to his aid," Evan pointed out.

"I know... It's complicated," Emma sighed.

"About what Áurea said earlier... Does he have something on you? Like, is he blackmailing you?" Evan probed.

"Not on me, but that doesn't mean I'm neutral about it... Trust me, it's better if I manage to settle this before it gets out of hand," Emma explained.

"So, why are you helping him?" Evan asked.

"Because as much as I hate him, and God only knows how much all the things that come out of his mouth disgust me... He's my little brother," Emma said, her voice tinged with sadness.

"You believe he's not a lost cause?" Evan asked, studying his reflection in the rearview mirror.

"No one is," Emma said before pulling over between two parked cars. She turned off the engine and turned to face Evan. "Listen, I appreciate your support and that you came with me... But I'd rather if you wait for me here. You and Walter have a history, and I really want to avoid any scenes inside the police station..."

"Yeah, sure! I'll be here when you're done," Evan nodded in agreement.

Before Emma left the car, she squeezed Evan's cheeks and planted a quick kiss on his lips before disappearing behind the double doors of the station. Evan watched her go with a sense of longing. She stopped a second to let a car pass then crossed the road before disappearing behind the police station's double doors.

After waiting for a few minutes, Evan grew impatient and stepped out of the car. He lit up a Marlboro, taking a long drag as he perched on the car's hood. The cigarette smoke curled above him as he glanced around at the bustling street, his mind racing with thoughts.

As time dragged on, Evan's restlessness grew, and he grew tired of staring at the entrance of the police station. He turned his gaze to the passers-by on the street, watching them come and go, his mind wandering, trying to guess their destinations, inventing them lives and purposes.

Suddenly, the door of the police station swung open, and Walter stormed out, looking irritated as he caught sight of Evan. Evan prepared himself for the confrontation, but then Emma appeared behind Walter, her face flushed with anger.

"Great! You brought your human sex toy with you!" Walter exclaimed.

"Walter!" Emma scolded him.

"Okay... Thanks for getting me out, see you!" Walter said, intending to leave, but Emma grabbed his jacket and pulled him back to her.

"Why did you fight?" Emma asked. "The police officer said they were five against you! What happened?"

"Oh yeah... They got mad and tried to jump me. Those sissies regretted it," Walter replied.

"Why did they get mad? What did you say to them?" Emma inquired.

"I don't know... Maybe it's because I showed them this!" Walter smirked as he unzipped his jacket, revealing his red shirt with a black triangle logo.

Emma muffled her scream, covered her mouth with her hand, and quickly urged her little brother to zip up his jacket. While Emma scolded her brother, Evan's attention was drawn to a car that stopped a little further down the street, and a group of men dressed like Walter got out of it but stayed at a distance.

"Walter, please! I'm begging you! Come with me! Evan and I are leaving the group soon to start fresh somewhere else! We will always have room for you! Please!" Emma pleaded; her eyes red with tears.

"Walter, I'm sorry for last time. But listen to your sister and let's leave all this behind us," Evan added,

Walter remained silent for a moment, then nodded and walked towards his sister, and hugged her. Emma hugged him back and kissed his head. Walter looked up at her.

"Emma, I want you to understand that this is for your own good, for the good of our race," Walter said before shoving her aside and running towards his group of friends, who had started the car's engine.

Emma stumbled on the slick pavement, her knees scraping against the rough concrete as she fell. But she didn't let the pain stop her. In a split second, she sprang back up and took off running after her brother in the pouring rain.

Walter had already reached the car, and it was starting to speed away. Emma's heart pounded in her chest as she sprinted towards the vehicle, her voice hoarse from screaming her brother's name. Passersby looked at her with curious expressions as she ran past, their umbrellas offering little protection against the downpour.

Evan ran behind her, his eyes fixed on the car as it got farther and farther away. Emma's legs burned with exertion as she chased after it, her breath coming in ragged gasps. But no matter how hard they tried; the car kept getting further out of reach.

Finally, Emma's legs gave out, and she fell to her knees in the middle of the road, prompting the cars to break hard and the drivers to start honking and shouting at them. Tears streamed down her face as she cried out for her brother, her voice choked with sobs.

Evan knelt beside Emma, passing his arm around her shoulders. "Emma, let's go. It's getting dangerous," he said calmly.

But Emma pushed him away and stood up, fuming at the passing cars and pedestrians. "FUCK YOU! ALL OF YOU! YOU CAN ALL GO FUCK YOURSELVES AND YOUR SELFISH, MISERABLE LIVES! ALL OF YOU!" she screamed in rage, not caring that the vehicles had to brake suddenly to avoid hitting her.

Evan had enough of her outburst and grabbed her arm, forcefully pulling her away from the road. He thanked the garbage collectors who had blocked the way to help them escape the scene.

He led her back to their car parked on the street. A police officer stopped them, asking, "I heard some strange noises. Did you see something? What's with her?"

"They're shooting a drama movie, fuck off!" Emma spat, her anger still simmering.

"What?" The officer's eyes widened as he grabbed Evan's arm. "Wait a second, you! I've seen you somewhere... Oh my god! You're..." Before he could finish his sentence, Emma delivered a powerful punch to his face, knocking him out cold.

"WE'VE TOLD YOU TO FUCK OFF!" she yelled at the unconscious man on the ground.

"Okay, we really have to leave now! Give me the keys, I'll drive!" Evan ordered her, catching the keys she threw at him.

"The fucker... He stole my wallet! The piece of shit!" Emma exclaimed.

"GET IN THE CAR NOW!" Evan shouted, turning on the engine and quickly driving away from the chaotic scene.

After the chaotic incident, Evan decided to take a longer route to give Emma some time to collect herself. Finally, after thirty minutes driving, he parked the car in front of the house and turned off the engine. They sat there in silence, the weight of what just happened still palpable in the air. It was Emma who eventually broke the silence.

Emma voiced her thoughts, 'I wonder what you might think of me.'

'I don't think anything except that you have nothing in common with your brother.' Evan replied,

Emma then revealed, 'I lied to you...'

'I don't care, you don't have to tell me.' But Emma insisted, 'No...I want to talk.'

'Fine then.', Evan acquiesced.

Emma began to explain, 'My father wasn't a banker, and I wasn't an economics student. That was all a lie.' Evan responded, 'Okay.' Emma continued, 'Both my parents are in the army, and I was too.'

'Oh...I don't really see the issue here.', Evan said.

Emma elaborated, 'Life at home was very strict...I couldn't stand it anymore, and I got into a big fight with my parents. I said some terrible things to them, then left the army and my home.'

Evan's attention was briefly diverted by his reflection in the rearview mirror, but he quickly refocused, asking, 'So you quit?'

Emma corrected him, 'You don't quit the army, Evan... I deserted. My father is a General, and I guess he pulled some strings, so the military police won't track me. If someone finds out, my parents could lose everything and possibly go to jail...And there's Walter! If the press or the authorities discover that the son of a West German General is a Nazi...or worse, if my dad hears about it, he'll hunt him down himself and bury him alive.'

Evan tried to reassure her, 'That's not your burden! And do you really think your father would hurt his own son?'

'Oh my god Evan, you can't imagine what being a Nazi means here in Germany. Whether in the West or the East, that's probably the only thing we agree on!', Emma retorted.

'Emma, how can I help you?' Emma responded, 'You're already doing a lot...and there isn't much we can do. We can't travel back in time.', Evan sympathized.

Evan suggested, 'You know...all you have to do is say the words, and I'll start the car and keep driving until we're out of gas. We could leave everything behind and start fresh somewhere else, just as you said earlier.'

'I can't do that...I can't leave my little brother behind.', Emma declined.

Evan challenged her, 'Even after what he did this afternoon? You know he's responsible for his own choices.' But Emma remained steadfast, 'He's my brother, my baby brother. I'll never let him down, whatever happens.'

Evan contemplated her response before turning to the road and pulling out the keys, nodding, 'I'll be on your side then.'"
