Chapter 5: Apple Pie With Tree Trunks

Not too long after Finn, Jake, and Marcy were saving Mushroom Village from the giant moths, they all decided to celebrate by going to their old friend Tree Trunks' house for some of her delicious apple pie. At this time, the three heroes were all finishing their slices of pie while the little green elephant was sitting with them. The entire Land of Ooo knew of how great a baker Tree Trunks was and her pies were always a masterpiece that have won her blue ribbons at many county fairs and baking contests. Jake's stomach was completely full from the delicious pie and he couldn't eat another bite. "Whew! I am stuffed! You never fail to disappoint with an apple pie, TT.", Jake said. "You want me to wrap you up a piece to take home with you, Jake?", Tree Trunks asked the magical dog. "That would be great. Thanks.", Jake said. Marceline had finished sucking out the inside filling from her piece and said, "That really was delicious. Thank you for the pie, Tree Trunks.", the vampire said. "You're absolutely welcome, hun.", she said. "It is really late. I think I better get going.", Marcy said. She went over and kissed Finn and said, "I'll see you soon, baby.". "We're still going for pixie strangling tomorrow, right?", Finn asked her with a wink. "Oh, definitely!", she said as she winked back. "I'll see you all later.", Marcy said as she made her way towards the door. Just then, Tree Trunks' husband, Mr. Pig walked into the little cottage wearing his hat and tie that he always wears to work. "Hello, everybody.", Mr. Pig said. "Hey, Mr. Pig. I was actually just about to get going.", Marceline said to the small pig. "Oh, sorry to come home just as you were leaving, Marceline. Hope to see you again soon.", the pig said. Marceline then floated out the door and flew away into the night. Mr. Pig took off his hat and tie and went over to kiss his wife. "How was your day at the office?", Tree Trunks asked. "Alright. Busy as usual. Now that I'm home, I'd rather forget about work for now.", he said. Mr. Pig caught a whiff of a mouthwatering scent and said, "I smell apple pie!". He went over to sit with the two brothers as Tree Trunks cut him a slice of pie and gave Jake his wrapped-up piece to take home. "So, Finn. How are things going between you and Marceline?", Mr. Pig asked. "Things are going just algebraic! She truly is the best! I tell ya, I have never been in love with someone as much as I am with her.", Finn responded. "I am so glad to hear that, Finn. I never really knew Marceline too well until you two started dating even though you told me many great things about her when you were just friends. After getting to know her, I see why you like her so much. She truly is a great girl.", Tree Trunks said. "She sure is.", Finn agreed. Finn looked at the clock on the wall and said, "Looks like Marcy was right about it being late. We better get home, Jake.", Finn said. "Yeah, I guess so.", Jake said. Finn and Jake got up from the table and walked towards the door and out of the house. "Thanks again for the pie, Tree Trunk. We'll see you later.", Finn said to them. "Come back anytime, boys!", Tree Trunks said back to them. As they were walking away from the house, Jake asked his brother, "I always wanted to know what do you and Marcy mean by pixie strangling? What do you guys do as far as that?". "I'll tell you more about that when we get home.", Finn said. Meanwhile, Killer Moth was watching the two heroes walk away from the house and recognized them from earlier on in the night. "That's the kid and dog who were killing my new pets. But I don't see any sign of the other one, that flying pale lady.", he said to himself. He then looked over to the small cottage from which they were leaving from and figured he would start there with getting someone to help him figure out how to get back to Gotham. He got out of his criminal attire and stripped down to his normal clothes underneath his costume. "Don't want to alarm whoever lives there.", he said. Drury Walker walked over to the cottage and knocked on the door. The door opened and he saw the small green elephant who looked up at him with wide eyes. "Well, hi there, stranger. What can I do for ya?", Tree Trunks asked. This was quite a freaky few hours for Walker. He saw giant moths, a talking dog who can shapeshift, a floating lady with an axe base, mushroom people, and now a talking green elephant. He tried to hide his insecurity about who or what he was talking to and said, "Uh...I'm lost.". "Oh, dear. Well come on in. Any lost soul is always welcome here.", she said as she invited Walker in. Walker came into the cottage and saw the pig sitting at the table eating some apple pie. "Tree Trunks, who's this?", Pig asked his wife about the man who had just entered their home. "This fella says he's lost and I want to help him find his way back home.", she said. She guided him over to the dining room table and said, "Would you like to sit down? Maybe have a slice of my homemade apple pie?". "No thanks. I'm kinda in a rush.", Walker said. "Looks like Finn isn't the only human around after all.", Pig said. "Excuse me?", Walker said in confusion. "Oh, that's right. You're a human too. We thought there was only one human in this land and that's our good friend Finn.", Tree Trunks said. "Finn? Is he the one I saw just leaving here?", Walker asked. "Yeah. He's also the hero around these parts. He helps anyone who is in trouble. Just earlier tonight, he saved a village from a bunch of nasty bugs.", she said. "Really? That's interesting.", he said while not giving away the fact that he saw that happen. "So, what is it you need help with? You said you were lost?", Pig asked. "Yes. This may seem difficult to believe, but I'm not from around here. It's a long story, but one moment, I was in my city, and the next I find this crystal that opens a portal and I'm here.", Walker explained as he took out the crystal from his pocket. Tree Trunks saw the crystal and immediately got flashbacks to when she was trapped in the Crystal Dimension and went power crazy when she became the queen. "Oh, dear. I haven't seen one of those in a long time. These are magic teleportation crystals that come from the Crystal Dimension.", Tree Trunks said. "So, you know of these things?", the villain asked. "Unfortunately, I do because of a bad experience I had while on an adventure with Finn.", she said. "So, you know how they work?", he asked. "I'm sorry, I don't exactly know how they work, but I know Finn has been playing with these things recently. If you go to him, he'll be glad to help you out and get you back to where you came from.", she told him. "And where exactly does he live?", he asked. "If you walk about 20 minutes north of here, you should come across a big treehouse. That's where he and his brother live.", she told him. "Well, Ms. Tree Trunks, is it? Thank you so much for your help. I'll go see him right now.", Walker said as he made his way towards the door. "Always glad to help someone. You have a good night, sir.", Tree Trunks told him as he exited the house. "Is it just me or did something seem off about that character?", Mr. Pig said. "What do you mean, dear?", she asked. "Trust me, honey. I have a sixth sense that I obtained from my time spent with criminals. I can sense a criminal, and that's the impression I got from him.", he said. "Honey, that was a long time ago. That nice fella did not seem like a criminal to me. He said he needed help to get back to his dimension. I don't think a criminal would willingly ask for help like that.", she said. "I guess you're right, dear.", Mr. Pig said. Outside the cottage, Moth was beginning to follow Tree Trunks' instructions and proceed towards Finn's treehouse. "So, this kid's a hero too? I'm sure he can't be any worse than Batman and his band of bratty helpers. Still, I don't want to come across as a bad guy to this kid. I just hope he knows how to make this thing get me back to Gotham.", Moth said to himself. He then began to make his way towards the home of Ooo's greatest hero.
