Chapter 6: Late Night Visitor

Finn and Jake were currently playing a late night game of Bug Battle on BMO after the long day they had. Just as they were finishing up and it seem like Jake was winning, the dog said, "Oh, I got you know, Finn! I'm gonna win!". "I'm not out yet! Not until the game's over!", Finn said competitively. It was going to be a close game, but then the game turned off and BMO's face reappeared on the screen. "BMO, what the zip? We were playing a game!", Finn said. "Yeah, and I was almost finished kicking Finn's ass!", Jake said. "Sorry, guys. My battery is running low. I have to recharge.", BMO said. "I guess we should hit the hay. Goodnight, Beems.", Jake said. BMO went over to his little bed and plugged himself in and went to sleep mode. "Hey, Finn I wanted to ask how did your time with Marcy's dad go?", Jake asked his brother. "It seemed to go well. It was a little awkward because of the previous times I've met him. Especially after I sliced open his soul sack and sent him back to his world. But it went well for the most part.", Finn answered. "He seems to be cool with you dating his daughter? I know Marcy said he likes you, but I just wanted to be sure in case you need protection from getting your soul sucked out.", Jake said. "I appreciate your concern, Jake. But Abadeer seems to treat me with respect.", Finn said. "That's good to hear. How are things between him and Marcy? Are they better than they were before? I know for a long time she was pissed off at him because he ate her fries at a fair or something?", Jake asked. "Oh, yeah. They are much better now. After me and her stopped him from sucking all the souls in Ooo and after that whole incident in the Nightosphere when he tricked her into wearing that amulet, they have had a much better father and daughter relationship. She said that if it wasn't for me, things would still probably be pretty unpleasant between them.", Finn said. "That's another reason why it's a good thing you two first met. You've really had a positive effect in her life.", Jake said with a smile. "Yeah, I guess so.", Finn said. A knock then came at the door and Jake asked, "Who could be knocking at this hour of the night?". "It's probably Marceline. I'll see what she needs.", Finn said as he made his way to the door. He opened it and he was surprised that it was not his girlfriend, but a middle-aged brown-haired human. Finn was more shocked with the fact that it was another human who was at the door. "Finn, I presume?", the man asked. "Yeah? Are you from Hub Island?", Finn asked. "I'm sorry, Hub Island?", he said with a look of confusion on his face. "Isn't that where you're from? Did my mom send you? Is she in trouble?", Finn asked sounding concerned for the safety of his mother. "No, I'm sure your mom's fine. I'm not from wherever it is you're talking about.", he said. Finn breathed a sigh of relief and replied, "Okay, good. I'm sorry. I just assumed you were from my birthplace because you're a human and there's no humans in this land other than me.", Finn said. "That's fine. My name's Drury Walker and I need a hero's help.", Walker said as he extended his arm. Finn shook his hand and said, "Well, Mr. Walker. What can I help you with?", Finn asked. "I'm lost. I was just with your friend Tree Trunks, and she told me you can help me figure out how this crystal works.", he said as he showed him the pink crystal. "Oh, you're from another world, aren't you?", Finn asked him upon recognizing the crystal. "Yeah. And I'm hoping you can help me get back to where I'm from.", Walker said. "Sure, no problem. These are magic crystals that can teleport you to any place. If you want to get to somewhere specific, you whisper the name of your destination and toss it on the ground, then a portal should open that will take you to where you want to go. It's pretty simple when you get the hang of it. Me and my girlfriend have had some experience messing with this kind of magic. Just about a month ago, we ended up in this city called Gotham where we fought a crocodile dude, stopped a guy who had half his face burnt off from blowing up half the city which ultimately led to his death, and met a pretty radical guy dressed like a bat.", Finn said. That story Finn told caught Walker off guard because he now knows that this heroic prick has been to Gotham and has met Batman and is responsible for Two-Face's death. He definitely had to make sure he didn't know that he was from Gotham himself and plans to wreak havoc on the city. "That's an interesting story. Well, I think I have the information I need. Thank you for your time. Sorry for bugging you so late.", Walker said as he was getting ready to leave. "No problem, dude. I'm the hero of these parts. Always happy to help someone in need. By the way, where are you from that you're trying to get back to?", Finn asked. Walker paused for a moment and was trying to think of somewhere else other than Gotham to say. "Uhhh.. I'm going back to...Yellow Springs. That's where I grew up.", he lied. "That sounds like a nice place.", Jake said. "Oh, yeah. It's a real nice place.", Walker said. He wasn't entirely lying. Yellow Springs, Ohio really was where Walker lived before he moved to Gotham. As with most childhoods of villains, it was not a pleasant one for Drury Walker living there. "Well, best of luck on your travels, Mr. Walker.", Finn said. "Thank you, Finn. I couldn't have been able to get back home and continue with what I plan to do with out your help. Have a good night, hero.", Walker said somewhat cockily and sinister-like as he left. He somehow wanted to give Finn a sense of guilt seeing as how he was supposed to be a hero and he just unknowingly helped a villain carry out an evil plan that will lead to destruction. Finn got a weird vibe from what he just said, but just ignored it. "Is it just me, but did that guy seem odd to you?", Jake asked. "How so?", Finn said. "Well, I just got a bad vibe from him. Maybe you shouldn't have had told him how those things work.", Jake said. "Come on, man. He's just a lost dude who wants to get back home. My hero code couldn't turn a blind eye to someone in need.", Finn said. "Just saying, I didn't like him.", Jake said. "You're probably overthinking it, Jake. Let's get some shut eye.", Finn said as he yawned. "Yeah, we should.", Jake agreed as both him and Finn went upstairs to go to sleep.
