We skim above a dark, wild ocean. The camera turns toward alone island, Berk. It is a gigantic shard of rock jutting straight out of the water.

Hiccup: This, is Berk. It's twelve days north of hopeless, and a few degrees South of freezing to death. It's located solidly on the meridian of misery.

"Out of the 6 of our gang, you Hiccup matured more than anyone else while Snotlout just stayed the same size since we were fifteen". Fishlegs said

"Of course, I did It took me years to finally get my growth spurt". Hiccup said

"It took you 2 years to make it to 5.7 and then another 3 years to make you 6.2 your taller than everyone else well except for Astrid who has the advantage to get her your height". Snotlout said

The camera drifts over rolling hills to reveal a small village nestled on an outcropping of sea mounts.

Hiccup: My village. In a word, it's been here for seven generations, but every single building is new.

"It's the twins we have to worry about now instead of the dragons." Astrid said

The camera drifts closer, circling.

Hiccup: We have fishing, hunting, and a charming view of the sunsets. The only problems are the pests. You see, most places have mice or mosquitos. We have...

Sheep graze peacefully on a hillside. Suddenly one is snatched.

"No, we only lose our livestock since they don't run away when there is any danger." New Berkian said

"And yet they got scared when they lived on the island." Spitelout said as he rolled his eyes at the stupid dragons

A door is pulled open... as a DRAGON swoops directly toward it, BLASTING FIRE. The door is SLAMMED. The fire shoots through the slats of wood, illuminating HICCUP, a gangly teenage Viking.

"There is my little hickey." Valka said as she hugged Hiccup after seeing the 15-year-old on TV

"Valka why not I bring the 15-year-old here?" Gary asked

"Yes please." Valka said then a bright light appeared and little Hiccup appeared

"Where am I and where is Toothless?" Y Hiccup asked as he looked around the room

"And who are these people?" Y Hiccup asked as he got scared

"Y Hiccup meet your future." Gary said as he held his arm out

"Am I still a runt and disappointment to the whole tribe?" Y hiccup asked

"No you are not Y Hiccup." O Hiccup said as he came forward then he bent down to Hiccup's height

"Um, who are you?" Y Hiccup asked

"I'm you 15 years in the future." O Hiccup said

"Whoa that's me, how do I go from this to this?" Y Hiccup asked as he pointed to himself then O Hiccup

"It's called growing up and training how to use a sword which is your best weapon to use." O Hiccup said

"But I can't lift any weapons or use any weapons." Y Hiccup said

"You can use weapons but you're much stronger with your left than your right." O Hiccup said then Valka pushed O Hiccup out of the way then she picked up Y Hiccup and hugged him tight

"Um, who are you?" Y Hiccup asked

"You'll find out in 5 years." Valka said as she continues hugging Y Hiccup

"Alright, Valka it's time I sent Y Hiccup back to his timeline." Gary said

"No, don't get rid of him yet I still want to hug my 15-year-old son for a little bit longer." Valka said as she still hugged Y Hiccup

"Sorry, Valka but he'll be going back now without his memories of what happened here." Gary said as a bright light went around Y Hiccup then he was gone

"No! Bring back, my young son!" Valka shouted

"You still got that Hiccup." Gary said as he pointed at the older Hiccup who was sitting next to Astrid

"Fine but I still want my younger son." Valka sulked as she sat down as crossed her arms

Hiccup: dragons.

He reopens the sizzling door, as leaps off of the front porch. He weaves through the erupting mayhem as Vikings pour out of the buildings, ready for a fight.

"You were very nimble at your young age Hiccup." Mala said

"Thanks, Mala." Hiccup said

More dragons swarm in, setting rooftops alight and hauling off sheep.

"Stupid livestock not running away." New Berkian Viking said

Hiccup: Most people would leave. Not us. We're Vikings. We have stubbornness issues.

"You're one to talk." Astrid said as she crossed her arms

"I'm not that stubborn." Hiccup said

"Ha! Yeah you are, when you were sick you didn't want to stay in bed to get better so you went out and did your work until you nearly fell off the edge when we were still at Dragons edge." Astrid said

"Or that one time you had phantom pain but you decided to keep working until I have to make you stop since I know what you going through." Gobber said

"I can name a few if you want." Astrid said

"Uh, no thanks." Hiccup said as he doesn't want to get told of his stubborn nature

Vikings sound the alarm. Viking men and women pour out into the streets, axes in hand.

"You know what, I'm bringing the dragons down and letting them talk, they've already been through this, well except for the new ones." Gary said as the barrier fell then the dragons went to their riders

Hiccup darting through alleys, staying under eaves, making his way through the battle.

Hiccup: My name's Hiccup. Great name, I know.

"Excuse me I named you that after you came out hiccuping." Valka deadpanned

"Sorry, mom." Hiccup sheepishly said

"Isn't the name Hiccup named after a runt of the litter or some strange noise that comes out of your mouth." Toothless said

Hiccup: But it's not the worst. Parents believe a hideous name will frighten off gnomes and trolls. Like our charming Viking demeanor wouldn't do that.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Gobber asked as Hiccup just shrugged his shoulders

Dragons sweep back and forth, dodging axes and blasting the Vikings who throw them. A burly warrior gets tossed in an explosion, knocking Hiccup to the ground.

"I wonder why Alvin didn't use the dragon raid to invade Berk and surround the island?" Gary asked

"We had a dragon raid on our island too." Alvin said

VIKING(fierce)Arggghhhhh!(cheery, insane)Mornin'!

Hiccup gets to his feet and continues to rush past gigantic men and women.

Hiccup: Meet the neighbors. Hoark the haggard...

HOARK: What are you doing out!?

"I had to go to the forge so I can repair your weapons." Hiccup deadpanned

HICCUP: Burnthair the Broad

BURNTHAIR: Get inside!

HICCUP: Phlegma the Fierce

PHLEGMA THE FIERCE: Get back inside!

"I was heading to work so I was going inside." Hiccup said

HICCUP: Ack. He passes a silent ox of a Viking, picking his ear.

HICCUP (CONT'D): Yep, just Ack.

"Are any of these Vikings still alive." Gary said

"Of course we are." 5 Vikings said

Enter STOICK, the biggest Viking of all. He yanks Hiccup from the path of a strafing dragon and holds aloft to the crowd.

"I'm glad you don't do that to us dad." Zephyr said

"If I did, your mother would smack me." Hiccup said

"You got that right honey." Astrid agreed

STOICK: Hiccup!?

Stoick: What is he doing out again?! as he asked the crowd (to Hiccup)What are you doing out?! Get inside!

"Wasn't his nest on fire so didn't he have to leave." Rumblehorn said

The flames light up his scowling face and matted red beard. He sets Hiccup down and turns to the sky, searching.

"I miss you, dad, I wish you were still here." Hiccup sadly said

Hiccup: That's Stoick the Vast. Chief of the tribe. They say that when he was a baby he popped a dragon's head clean off of its shoulders. Do I believe it?

"How is that possible since there is a lot of skin, muscles, and bone to break." Gary said

Stoick grabs a wooden cart and hurls it, knocking the strafing dragon out of the sky.

Hiccup: Yes, I do.

An EXPLOSION forces the Vikings to DUCK. Stoick stands firm, brushing flaming debris off of his shoulder.

Stoick: What have we got?

Viking: Gronkles

"That is our kind!" Shattermaster shouted as the other Gronckles cheered except for Meatlug who was embarrassed by her kind

Viking: Nadders

"We are perfect, we are vain." Every Nadder quoted

Viking: Zipplebacks

"Two heads are better than one." Every Zippleback said

Viking: Oh, and Hoark saw a Monstrous Nightmare.

"That's right we are the best." Yellow Monstrous Nightmare said as flames went around it's body

Stoick: Any Night Furies?

Toothless, Luna and their kids raised their heads as their kind name was called

Viking: None so far.

Stoick: Good.

"That's right fear us." Toothless said

"By what your cuteness." Astrid said

"Viking: Hoist the torches!

Massive flaming braziers are raised on poles, lighting up the night sky... and revealing swirling dragons of all types.

"That's all the dragons that were common in the area." Fishlegs said

Below, Hiccup crosses an open plaza and ducks into an open building with a tall chimney.

"You went the long way to get to the forge since all you had to do was walk across the square then you arrived." Gary said

He crosses behind a counter, where a peg-legged, one-armed hulk of a Blacksmith reshapes blades with a hammer and tongs appendage.

Gobber: Ah! Nice of you to join the party.I thought you'd been carried off.

"No, that was after we made peace with the dragons then we had to worry about him being carried away." Astrid said

"At least that's how I meet my mother." Hiccup said

Hiccup dons a leather apron and starts to put away Gobber's scattered appendages.

"I don't know how many times I tripped up on Gobber's appendages when I was in the forge." Hiccup said

HICCUP: Who me? Nah, come on! I'm way too muscular for their taste. They wouldn't know what to do with all this.

Hiccup strikes a bodybuilder pose.

They all laughed at Y Hiccup trying to flex his muscles

"At least I got muscles now." Hiccup said

GOBBER: They need toothpicks, don't they?

"I'm not a toothpick anymore, meathead." Hiccup said as he smiled at using Gobbers old nickname

Hiccup gets to work, transferring bent and chipped weapons to the forge as Vikings crowd the counter for replacements.

HICCUP (V.O.): The meathead with attitude and interchangeable hands is Gobber.I've been his apprentice ever since I was little. Well...littler.

"I'll let you get away with this." Gobber said

The camera follows Stoick and a couple of Vikings running

STOICK: We move to the lower defenses. We'll counter-attack with the catapults.

Armed men rush past, flanking others who carry sheep to safety. Stoick follows up the rear as, overhead, a dragon-strafes the rooftops with Napalm-like fire.

HICCUP (V.O.): See? Old village. Lots and lots of new houses.

"Sarcastic little twit you were back then." Gobber said

"It was who I was." Hiccup said

VIKING: FIRE!

In response, the fire brigade charges through the plaza -four TEENS, tugging a large wooden cask on wheels. From it, they fill buckets of water to douse the flames. One among them is a cute, energetic Viking girl.

"I'm glad we came a long way from carrying buckets of water around." Fishlegs said

Hiccup leans out of the stall to watch her.

HICCUP (V.O.): Oh and that's Fishlegs, twins Ruffnut and ...(dreamy)Astrid.

"Damn look how small we were back then," Astrid said as the others agreed

"Hiccup what made you have a crush on me?" Astrid asked

"Unlike Snotlout who only saw you as a trophy, I saw the most beautiful valkyrie that I wanted to get to know more." Hiccup said as Heather squealed while Astrid had tears in her eyes

"That was sweet hon." Astrid said as she cuddled up next to Hiccup with a smile on her face

A SLOW-MOTION explosion erupts behind her, framing her in a sexy ball of fire. The others join her, looking awesome and heroic.

"Look at that smile on her face and she's facing Hiccup while she did that, she had a crush on Hiccup." Heather squealed

"I think my rider is broken she's doing that squealing again." Windshear worriedly said as she looks at Heather

HICCUP (V.O.): Their job is so much cooler.

"You wish, I don't know how many times I got burnt from trying to get the fire out." Snotlout said

Hiccup tries to join them as they pass, but he's hooked byGobber and hoisted back inside.

Hiccup: Ah, come on. Let me out, please. I need to make my mark.

"You already did." Toothless said

GOBBER: Oh, you've made plenty of in the wrong places.

HICCUP: Please, two minutes. I'll kill adragon. My life will get infinitelybetter. I might even get a date.

"You didn't need to kill a dragon to impress me, what you did seal the deal for me." Astrid said

GOBBER: You can't lift a hammer. You can't swing an axe...

"I can lift a hammer, how else was I supposed to work in the forge, and I can swing and lift an axe." Hiccup said

Gobber grabs a bola (iron balls connected by rope).

Gobber: you can't even throw one of these.

"I can now." Hiccup said proudly

A Viking runs by and nabs it out of Gobber's hand, hurling it at a dive-bombing Gronkle. The bola binds its legs, sending it into a heavy crash.

"Oof, that hurt." Very same Gronckle said that is quite old now

Hiccup: Okay fine, but

He rushes to the back corner of the stall and presents a bizarre, wheelbarrow-like contraption.

Hiccup: this will throw it for me.

"I'm glad I made it smaller and it goes into my shield for transport." Hiccup said

Hiccup OPENS the hinged lid of the device. An arm springs up, equipped with twin bows. They prematurely launch a bola, narrowly missing Gobber... and taking out a Viking at the counter.

VIKING: Arggh!

GOBBER: See, now this right here is what I'm talking about.

Hiccup: Mild calibration issue.

Gobber: Hiccup. If you ever want to get out there to fight dragons, you need to stop all

Gobber gestures in Hiccup's general direction.

Gobber: this.

Hiccup: But... you just pointed to all of me.

Gobber: Yes! That's it! Stop being all ofyou.

Hiccup: Ohhhh

Gobber: Ohhhhh, yes.

Hiccup: You, sir, are playing a dangerous game. Keeping this much, raw...Vikingness contained.(beat)There will be consequences!

"You got that right, look at you now." Gary said

Gobber tosses him a sword.

Gobber: I'll take my chances. Sword. Sharpen. Now.

Hiccup takes it begrudgingly and lobs it onto the grinding wheel. He stews... fantasizing...

Hiccup: One day I'll get out there. Because killing a dragon is everything around here.

"That's morbid." Mala said

"Love the banter between you two." Dagur said

Nadders land, gathering like seagulls around a seemingly vacant house.

Hiccup: A Nadder head is sure to get me at least noticed.

"Really I thought Gronckles were lower than us." Red color Deadly Nadder said

The Nadders clamber onto the building, tearing the roof and walls apart. Sheep pour out and SCATTER. Elsewhere, hippo-like Gronckles pick drying racks clean offish and fly off like loaded pelicans.

Hiccup: Gronckles are tough. Taking down one of those would definitely get me a girlfriend.

"Girlfriend equals mate right." Purple Gronckle said

"Yeah Astrid's Hiccup mate." Toothless said

"Then those two little ones are their Hatchlings then." Blue Monstrous Nightmare said

"Yep and it seems like our hatchlings love Hiccup's hatchlings." Toothless said as he look at his kids with Hiccup's kids who were fast asleep

A stealthy, snake-like dragon head peeks over a rooftop, breathing gas into a chimney.

Hiccup: A Zippelback? Exotic, exciting. Two heads, twice the status.

"Alright." Zippleback said

A second head pokes through the door and lights it. KABLAM! The two heads fly through the explosion, their necks zipping together to reveal a single body.

It flies past Stoick as he climbs to the top of a CATAPULTTOWER.

CATAPULT OPERATOR: They found the sheep!

Stoick: Concentrate fire over the lower bank!

CATAPULT OPERATOR: Fire!

Boulders are catapulted at the corralling Nadders

Just as a huge red dragon whips past, spraying the base of the catapult with sticky fire.

"That's the same dragon that chased me after I shot down Toothless." Hiccup said

Hiccup: And then there's the Monstrous Nightmare. Only the best Vikings go after those. They have this nasty habit of setting themselves on fire.

"You got that right, Hookfang would always burn every chance he gets." Snotlout huffed

"That's because you are an idiot." Hookfang said smugly

It emerges from the flames, climbing the catapult with aleering, toothy grin.

Stoick: Reload! I'll take care of this.

Stoick takes on the Nightmare, face to hammer.

Suddenly, a LOUD BALLISTIC MOANING streaks overhead. Thecatapult crew ducks.

"I love that sound." Hiccup said

"Of course you do, you use that way too many times." Astrid said

Hiccup, looking up from his work, reacting to the same sound.

Hiccup: But the ultimate prize is the dragon no one has ever seen. We call it the-

Viking: Night Fury! Get down!

"Haha, that's right fear me." Toothless said

"Great someone's ego just skyrocketed." Hiccup said

Vikings everywhere take shelter.

The moaning sound builds

The Monstrous Nightmare suddenly stops fighting and takes flight. Stoick looks skyward.

"Even the Monstrous Nightmare is afraid of the Night Fury." Gary said

"Wasn't afraid, I had to retreat before he destroyed the catapult." Same Nightmare said

Stoick: JUMP!

KABOOM! The Catapult EXPLODES as though hit by an artilleryshell... sending Stoick and the crew leaping for their lives.

Hiccup: This thing never steals food, nevershows itself, and..

The sound recedes, leaving the crippled catapult in flames.

Hiccup: never misses.

Hiccup: No one has ever killed a NightFury. That's why I'm going to bethe first.

"Well, I was wrong about that." Hiccup said

Gobber trades his hammer for an axe.

Gobber: Man the fort, Hiccup, they need me out there!

"You know when the Night Fury comes that is when the raid becomes more brutal." Spitelout said

Gobber pauses. Turns with a threatening glare.

Gobber: Stay. Put. There. You know what I mean.

Gobber charges into the fray, Hollering. A smirk crosses Hiccup's face.

"Damn that smirk is sexy." Astrid said as she moved her hand below Hiccup's belt and squeezed Hiccup's testicles

"Damn darling can't wait can you." Hiccup whispered in Astrid's ear making her purr

WHAM!

Hiccup pushes his wheeled contraption through a wall of clustered Vikings. He weaves through the ongoing mayhem, as fast as his legs can carry him.

VIKING #6: Hiccup, where are you going!?

VIKING #7: Come back here!

HICCUP: I know. Be right back

The Nadders have cornered the house full of sheep. They close in, ready to spring upon them. Stoick suddenly appears, HURLING FISHING NETS over them. The surprised Nadders are caught. Stoick and his men rush in.A Nadder blasts a hole through its net. Stoick leaps onto it, clamping his thick arms around its head, forcing its jaws shut.

Stoick: Mind yourselves! The devils still have some juice in them.

Hiccup reaches a cliff overlooking the smoking CATAPULT and drops the handles to the ground. He cranks several levers, unfolding and then cocking the bowed arms of his contraption. He drops a bola onto a chamber and then pivots the weapon on a gimbal head toward the dark sky. He listens, with his eye pressed to the scope, hand poised on the trigger. He hears the NIGHT FURY approaching... and turns his aim to the defense tower. It closes in for the final strike, completely camouflaged in the night.

Hiccup: Come on. Give me something to shoot at, give me something to shoot at.

KABLAM!

The tower topples. The blast of fire illuminates the dragon for a split second. Hiccup pulls the trigger.

KERTHUNK!

The flexed arms SNAP forward, springing the weapon off the ground. The bola disappears into the sky, followed by a WHACK and a SCREECH.

"I was wondering what that sound was, I thought it was another dragon being shot out of the sky but it was the Night Fury Hiccup shot down." New Berkian said

"Sorry Toothless, if I didn't shoot you down you would still have your tail fin still." Hiccup said

"If you didn't then I would still be a slave to the Red Death and we wouldn't go on those amazing adventures." Toothless said

Hiccup (surprised, then elated): Oh I hit it! Yes, I hit it! Did anybody see that?

Hiccup's victory is short-lived. A Monstrous Nightmare appears, slithering up over the lip of the cliff.

"I told you that Monstrous Nightmare had it out for me." Hiccup said as people laughed around him

Hiccup: Except for you

Stoick, holding down the netted Nadders. He hears a familiar holler and looks up to see

Hiccup running through the plaza, screaming, with the Nightmare fast on his heels

Alarmed, Stoick abandons the Nadders and runs off

Stoick: DO NOT let them escape

IN THE PLAZA

Vikings scatter as Hiccup dodges a near fatal blast. The Nightmare's sticky, Napalm-like fire splashes up onto buildings, setting them alight. Hiccup ducks behind the last standing brazier - the only shelter available. The Nightmare blasts it, spraying fire all around him. Hiccup peers around the smoldering post. No sign of the Nightmare. He turns back to find it leering at him, blocking his escape. It takes a deep breath. Hiccup is finished. Suddenly, Stoick leaps between them, tackling the Nightmare to the ground. They tumble and wrestle, resuming their earlier fight. The Nightmare tries to toast him, but only coughs up smoke

Stoick: You're all out.

"So the nightmare wasted all of its shots trying to hit Hiccup then Stoick comes and the Nightmare tries to fire at him he can't since he is out, that is what i call lucky." Gary said

He smashes the Nightmare repeatedly in the face, driving it away. It takes to the air and disappears. Winded, Stoick turns to Hiccup.

Hiccup: Oh, and there's one more thing you need to know

The burnt brazier pole collapses, sending the massive iron basket crashing. It bounces down the hill, destroying as it goes and scattering the Vikings who were holding down the netted Nadders. The freed dragons escape... with several sheep in tow

Hiccup: Sorry, dad

The escaped Nadders fly past with sheep in their clutches. The raid is over. The dragons have clearly won. The murmuring crowd eyes Stoick, awaiting his response.

Hiccup (sheepish): Okay, but I hit a Night Fury.

Stoick grabs Hiccup by the back scruff of his collar and hauls him away, fuming with embarrassment

Hiccup: It's not like the last few times, Dad. I mean I really actually hit it. You guys were busy and I had a very clear shot. It went down, just off Raven Point. Let's get a search party out there, before it-

"What would have happened if they did believe you?" Mindin asked

"We would have searched for the Night Fury and then taken it to the arena for Hiccup to kill it and he would be a dragon killer." Gobber said

"I searched for hours looking for the downed Night Fury in Raven Point." Hiccup said

"Isn't Raven Point massive?" Gary asked

"Yea it is." Hiccup said

Stoick: -STOP! Just...stop

He releases Hiccup. Everyone goes silent, staring expectantly

Hiccup: Every time you step outside, disaster follows. Can you not see that I have bigger problems? Winter's almost here and I have an entire village to feed!

"I don't think they need any more food to eat since they can survive winter just fine." Dagur said as he laughed

Hiccup looks around. All eyes are upon him.

"He's going to say something funny, I just know it." Dagur said

Hiccup: Between you and me, the village could do with a little less feeding, don't ya think?

Dagur laughed at what Hiccup as tears of joy ran down his face

"Brother that was comedic timing." Dagur laughed

A few rotund Vikings stir self-consciously

Stoick: This isn't a joke, Hiccup! (exasperated) Why can't you follow the simplest orders?

Hiccup: I can't stop myself. I see a dragon and I have to just... kill it, you know? It's who I am, Dad.

Stoick: You are many things, Hiccup. But a dragon killer is not one of them.

"That's one way to say "You are like your mother who wouldn't kill dragons ever." Gary said

Sting. Hiccup looks around to see many nods of agreement

Stoick: Get back to the house. (to Gobber) Make sure he gets there. I have his mess to clean up.

Stoick lumbers off in the opposite direction. Gobber leads Hiccup through the walk of shame. They pass the teen fire brigade as they snicker.

Tuffnut: Quite the performance.

Snotlout: I've never seen anyone mess up that badly. That helped!

Hiccup: Thank you, thank you. I was trying, so...

Hiccup avoids Astrid's glare and heads up toward a large house, standing prominently on the hill above the others

Hiccup: I really did hit one.

Gobber: Sure, Hiccup.

Hiccup: He never listens.

Gobber: Well, it runs in the family.

"Excuse me!" Haddocks and Jorgenson shouted as they glared at Gobber

"What it does, I see how many times you guys don't listen and just do your own thing." Gobber said

Hiccup: And when he does, it's always with this... disappointed scowl. Like someone skimped on the meat in his sandwich. (mimicking Stoick) Excuse me, barmaid. I'm afraid you brought me the wrong offspring. I ordered an extra large boy with beefy arms. Extra guts and glory on the side. This here. This is a talking fish bone.

"Sorry Hiccup but Fishlegs can do a better Stoick impersonation then you." Heather said

"Yeah, I know." Hiccup said

Gobber: You're thinking about this all wrong. It's not so much what you look like. It's what's inside that he can't stand.

Hiccup: Thank you, for summing that up.

They reach the doorway.

Gobber: Look, the point is, stop trying so hard to be something you're not.

Hiccup sighs heavily.

Hiccup: I just want to be one of you guys.

Gobber eyes him sympathetically. Hiccup turns and goes through the front door. And straight out the back door. He hurries off into the woods, determined.

"Why doesn't anyone know you would leave the house through the backdoor." Gary said

A noisy din of protesting voices leads to...

Stoick, glowering in the firelight. Surrounded by his men.

Stoick: Either we finish them or they'll finish us! It's the only way we'll be rid of them! If we find the nest and destroy it, the dragons will leave. They'll find another home.

"They would have finished us off if the Red Death left the island then none of the Viking islands would be safe." Spitelout said

"They did find another home, it was Berk." Fishlegs said

He sinks his blade into a... large nautical map, spread out on the table... the blade pierces the middle of an uncharted corner, swirling with painted sea monsters and dragons.

Stoick (decidedly): One more search. Before the ice sets in.

Viking: Those ships never come back.

"Then why do you keep going out if the ships don't come back then?" Throk asked

Stoick (matter-of-fact) We're Vikings. It's an occupational hazard. Now, who's with me?

Stoick throws up his fist. No one follows. The crowds shifts in restless silence. Head scratches. Eyes averted.

Viking: (feeble) Today's not good for me.

Viking: (equally feeble) I've gotta do my axe returns.

Stoick Alright. Those who stay will look after Hiccup.

"Thank you, father, if he didn't say that I ould had trouble sneaking around doing the things I did doing dragon training." Hiccup said

Hands jut into the air, volunteers galore. Enthusiastic murmurs of prep and packing fill the room.

Phlegma the fierce: To the ships!

Spitelout I'm with you Stoick!

Stoick: (dry) That's more like it.

The Vikings rush for the door, leaving Gobber and Stoick alone. Gobber gulps back the contents of his tankard attachment and scrapes back the bench.

Gobber: I'll pack my undies.

"Don't bring that image back into my mind again." Snotlout said disgustedly

"You guys will see it again after this." Gary said not knowing the disgusted looks on the 5 dragon riders' faces

Stoick: No, I need you to stay and train some new recruits.

Gobber: Oh, perfect. And while I'm busy, Hiccup can cover the stall. Molten steel, razor-sharp blades, lots of time to himself...what could possibly go wrong?

"I created a prosthetic tail fin and saddle all in secret with no one knowing ." Hiccup said

Stoick sinks onto the bench beside Gobber, his brow burdened.

Stoick: What am I going to do with him Gobber?

Gobber: Put him in training with the others.

Stoick: No, I'm serious.

Gobber: So am I.

Stoick turns to him, glaring.

Stoick: He'd be killed before you let the first dragon out of its cage.

"I was close to being killed when I freed the Night Fury but it just roared in my face." Hiccup said then Astrid smack him on the back of his head

"Don't joke about that." Astrid said

"Sorry hon" Hiccup said

Gobber: Oh, you don't know that.

Stoick: I do know that, actually.

Gobber: No, you don't.

Stoick: No, actually I do.

Gobber: No you don't!

"See Stoick wasn't listening to me, just what is said they don't listen." Gobber said

Stoick: Listen! You know what he's like. From the time he could crawl he's been...different. He doesn't listen.

Stoick: Has the attention span of a sparrow. I take him fishing and he goes hunting for... for trolls.

"I already know where this is going. "Trolls exist! They only steal your socks. But only the left ones. What's with that? Hiccup said imaging Gobber

"But they do exist a week ago my left sock disappeared" Gobber said

"How can they appear on New Berk when they lived on Berk for a long time?" Hiccup asked

"They magic trolls that can travel anywhere." Gobber said

Gobber (defensive): Trolls exist! They steal your socks. (darkly) But only the left ones. What's with that?

Stoick: When I was a boy...

"Oh, here we go again with this story." Alvin said

"What do you mean?" Heather asked

"Stoick has told this story so many times that we heard it so many times." Spitelout said as Stoick's friends even Valka nodded their heads

Gobber (grumbling): Oh here we go.

Stoick: My father told me to bang my head against a rock and I did it. I thought it was crazy, but I didn't question him. And you know what happened?

"You got a headache!" People who didn't know Stoick that well shouted

Gobber: You got a headache.

Stoick: That rock split in two. It taught me what a Viking could do, Gobber. He could crush mountains, level forests, tame seas! Even as a boy, I knew what I was, what I had to become. (beat) Hiccup is not that boy.

Gobber: You can't stop him, Stoick. You can only prepare him. (beat) Look, I know it seems hopeless. But the truth is you won't always be around to protect him. He's going to get out there again. He's probably out there now.

"Truer words are never spoken and that's the truth." Gary said

Gobber's words hit their mark.

A drawn map of the island, covered in X's. Hiccup looks up from it and peeks over a gorge, expectantly. Sees nothing. He adds another 'X' to the page, then scratches his pencil over the whole map in frustration. He snaps the book closed and pockets it.

"You actually looked for the dragon." Mindin said

"Yeah, I did." Hiccup said then he saw Gobber was about to open his mouth but he interrupted him

"Yes, Gobber I should have listened to my father." Hiccup sighed

Hiccup: Uggh, the gods hate me. Some people lose their knife or their mug. No, not me. I manage to lose an entire dragon.

Hiccup whacks a low-hanging branch. It snaps back at him, hitting him in the face. He looks up to see a snapped tree trunk. His eyes follow it to a long trench of up-turned earth. He follows it to a downed, black dragon, its body and tail tangled in a bola. It appears dead. Hiccup approaches, beaming.

Hiccup (in shock): Oh wow. I did it. I did it. This fixes everything. (elated) Yes!

He strikes a victory pose, planting his foot on the fallen Night Fury

"I thought I actually killed Toothless since he wasn't moving but when I put my foot on him he moved and I got scared." Hiccup said

Hiccup: I have brought down this mighty beast!

It suddenly shifts.

"See it scared me and that's what made me not go ahead and kill Toothless." Hiccup said

Hiccup: Whoa!

Hiccup springs back, terrified. He turns his blade on it. Rattled, Hiccup creeps along the length of the weak, wounded dragon, dagger poised to strike. As he reaches the head, Hiccup finds the Night Fury staring coldly at him. Hiccup tries to look away, but he's drawn back to its unnerving, unflinching stare. With the dragon safety tangled in the ropes, Hiccup jabs with his dagger, puffing himself up with false bravado.

Hiccup: I'm going to kill you, Dragon. I'm gonna cut out your heart and take it to my father. I'm a Viking. (beat) I am a VIKING!

"What made you set him free?" Atali asked

"You'll see." Hiccup said

Hiccup raises the dagger, determined to prove his Vikingness. The dragon's labored breathing breaks Hiccup's clenched concentration. He opens an eye, uncertainty leaking through. The dragon holds the stare. Something profound is exchanged. Finally, the Night Fury closes its eye and lowers its head, resigned to its fate.

"It was the stare Toothless did that made me want to free him, he was scared and hopeless and that he wanted to give up on life I couldn't do that to him." Hiccup said then Luna came over and placed her head on Hiccup's lap where Hiccup patted her

"I was wrong about you Dragon Master, you were kind to my mate." Luna said

"How did you know I was the Dragon Master?" Hiccup asked

"Your friend dragons and Toothless told me about all of your adventures and how you saved different dragons from humans cages and being enslaved and killed." Luna said

Hiccup tries to go through with it, holding the dagger aloft... fighting himself... until finally lowering it with a frustrated sigh. He looks over the dragon's chaffed rope wounds.

Hiccup: (muttered, ashamed) I did this.

He turns to leave. Pauses. And glances back at the dragon, chest heaving. Hiccup grumbles. He checks over his shoulder to ensure that no one is watching... then hurries back to cut the ropes. The Night Fury's eye shoots open. With the dragon watching his every move, Hiccup hurriedly saws through the bola ropes. As the last rope falls free, the Night Fury suddenly pounces! In a blur, the dragon is upon him, pinning Hiccup down, grazing his neck. Looking like it's about to kill him. Hiccup is paralyzed. The dragon's breath ruffles his hair. Hiccup opens his eyes to find the Night Fury's wolf-like stare boring into him. The exchange is intense, profound.

"That stare I do not want to see again." Dagur said as he felt a shiver go down his spine

"You can say that again." Alvin said

The dragon draws a deep breath, as though it's about to torch him, then lets out an ear-piercing scream instead. It turns and takes flight, flapping violently through the canopy of trees. It bashes against a nearby mountain side, recovers, and drops out of view some distance away. Winded, Hiccup struggles to his feet, staggers a few steps, collapses to his knees, and faints.

"I would've fainted as well if I got roared at like that." Mala said
