Chapter 1: Intro to the Dark Millennium Universe.
Summary:- In The Grim Darkness of 41st Millennium there is only war.
Notes:- This video is The Intro about Dark Millennium Universe by Bricky's Warhammer 40K. Now why I choose Bucky? Because his videos have only half the information about most factions so the cast won't learn about everything in few chapters.
Another thing. I won't be going word for word in Bricky's video. Few modifications will be made. Ex- Warhammer 40K Universe would be referred as Dark Millennium.
"Hello":- Thoughts
"Hello":- Host talking
"Hello":- Video
The theatre screen lit up, showing a man in his early twenties, wearing traditional Midgardian garb. The man grinned waving at the camera.
"Okay! Who the hell is he?" Rocket grunted "I thought we are about to see a New Universe not some overweight Midgardian".
Tony snickered while D glared at the Raccoon.
"Dude. Stop being rude" Quill said before blinking "Wait that rhymes".
"Hello everyone" The man greeted grinning "My name's Bricky, a very dear friend of your host. And today it is my job to introduce you all, to the Dark Millennium Universe, also known as Warhammer 40K"
"Dark Millennium" Gamora muttered.
"Sounds ominous" Sif commented.
"Well it makes sense" Loki said crossing his arms "Our host did say that this Universe will be Dark".
"But why 40K?" Steve questioned, looking at their host.
"Just keep watching." D said simply "Everything will be cleared".
"Now, why it is called 40K, well because setting takes place in the year 41,000 AD or 41st Millennium, nearly 40,000 Years into the future" Bricky grinned "Wow, you are already more knowledgeable".
"So 40,000 years in the future" Tony looked exited "I wonder what technology they have"
"Well now before we all Start, let me read you a quote. The first of many the quotes in this video" Bricky cleared his throat before looking at the piece of Paper in his hands.
Everyone looked intently on the screen while D tensed.
"It is the 41st Millennium. For more than a hundred centuries The Emperor has sat immobile on the Golden Throne of Earth."
Everyone's eyes widened.
"10,000 Years!!" Frigga breathed in shock. The Asgardians, even Odin, looked stunned.
"That's double the lifespan of an Aesir" Thor exclaimed.
"Forget about that" Drax said, looking impressed at the Emperor "How was he sitting on that blasted chair for that long?!"
"He is the Master of Mankind by the will of the gods, and master of a Million Worlds by the might of his inexhaustible armies."
"A Million Worlds!" The Asgardians exclaimed in shock.
"That's atleast a 1000 times Larger than the Kree, Skrull and The Nova Empire combined" Gamora exclaimed stunned.
"Eh Thor!" Sam called the Thunderer "How many Worlds does Asgard controls?"
"Asgard directly controls 9 Realms, indirectly it controls about a 100 Worlds, spread across The Yggdrasil" Thor answered still looking shocked at the sheer scale of the Empire.
The Asgardians looked disturbed to see another Empire outclassing Asgard in Power. Especially a Human Empire, whom they have always scorned as mortals for their weak physiology and primitive technology. For most, it was a humbling experience and truly a bitter pill to swallow.
D chuckled "What you are seeing is the true power of an United Human Race" The Host said proudly.
"An United Humanity" Both Fury and Coulson muttered feeling both awe and a little envious.
The next scene made everyone gasp slightly; a fleshless derelict corpse sitting on a massive Golden throne with hundreds of thousands of tubing and cables connected to the back, spine, arms , and head. Mercifully, the arms and legs were covered by pale beige cloth. At the front steps of the Golden Throne were numerous menials with heavy augmentations to where it seemed they were more machine than man.
"He is a rotting carcass writhing invisibly with power from the Dark Age of Technology."
"What's the Dark Age of Technology?" Tony asked looking curious.
"The Dark Age of Technology is a time, when the Human race is at the zenith of their technological power and being the most dominant race in the entire Galaxy with their only rival being the Alderi Empire" D explained.
"How advanced was the Dark Age?" Bruce asked.
"Advance enough that they have mass produced Teleporting Devices, casual Time Travel, Dimensional Disruptors, Black Hole cannons as frontline Weapons, Continent Shattering Guns as Point Defence Systems and smart Bombs strong enough to blow up entire Star Clusters" D replied with a smirk.
Everyone's jaw dropped at the sheer awesomeness that is the Dark Age Of Technology. Meanwhile both Tony and Rocket were drooling as they heard about the weapons.
"Black Hole cannons" Rocket drooled "I got to incorporate them in my Hadron Enforcer". The rest of the Guardians looked at Rocket in concern.
"He is the Carrion Lord of the Imperium for whom a thousand souls are sacrificed every day, so that he may never truly die."
"Wait, what!" Pietro yelled in outrage as did several others when they heard that tidbit.
"You can't be serious." Wanda exclaimed looking disgusted.
"Please tell me this is an exaggeration." Bruce venomously asked the host, a tinge of green run down his neck, while his eyes glinted a dangerous green behind his glasses.
"No this is not an exaggeration, it is the truth" D sighed sadly.
"That's just wrong!" Steve growled out. His mind flashing to Concentration Camps that he and the Howling Commandos liberated from H.Y.D.R.A
Both Clint and Natasha, along with the other S.H.I.E.L.D agents remained silent. They knew there is probably a reason for this.
"It is terrible, but it is a necessary evil." D said solemnly "Because believe me you don't want to see the alternative."
A chill ran down there spine hearing this.
"What could be worse than this?" Loki questioned quietly. His unwilling invasion of Midgard caused less than 200 deaths. But this Imperium sacrifices a 1000 people daily just to survive from something worse.
"Yet even in his deathless state, the Emperor continues his eternal vigilance. Mighty battlefleets cross the daemon-infested miasma of the Warp, the only route between distant stars, their way lit by the Astronomican, the psychic manifestation of the Emperor's will" The image shifted showing hundreds of huge Gothic style Warships exiting from blazing Purple Portals, their Plasma Lances opening fire on an unseen enemy.
Everyone, mainly the Guardians, looked at the ships in awe.
"Look at the size of those ships!" Quill exclaimed with a twinge of envy.
"That's a Sword Class Frigate. Nearly 1.6 Km in Length, its the mainline escort Ship of the Imperial Navy." D explained.
"That's a Frigate?!" Fury's one eye bulged in shock.
"Yep!" D nodded cheerfully "Its main Weapon is a Plasma Fusion Lance, which had enough power to vaporise the state of Texas in a single shot".
D's words caused the Avengers to feel a chill crawl up their spine.
"Vast armies give battle in his name on uncounted worlds." It then showed huge War zones reminiscent of WW1 and WW2, only with Energy Weapons, Huge Mechas and Gunships raining hellfire on the Enemy.
"My God" Steve breathed out, closing his eyes. His mind flashing back to the War. The Avengers looked at their leader worriedly.
"Hey Cap!" Tony exclaimed looking at Steve, worry shinning in his eyes "You alright?"
Steve took a deep breathe and nodded.
"Greatest amongst his soldiers are the Adeptus Astartes, the Space Marines, bio-engineered super-warriors." The Scene showed 8ft tall Warriors, wielding Chain Swords and buffed up guns, that looks a cross between an Assault Rifle and Grenade Launcher.
"Are those?" Wanda pointed out.
"Yes they are Imperium's version of Super-Soldiers" D explained "But Unlike Steve here, they aren't given any Serum. Instead they go through brutal training regimes, which had a very low survival rate, before they are slowly augmented with advanced enhancements."
Gamora felt a chill up her spine when she heard the word "enhancement". Oh, she had seen plenty of enhancement while serving Thanos. Her sister Nebula will be the prime example of that. She herself had gone through some minor ones, to enhance her lifting strength, and she knew how painful it could be.
Rocket growled his mind flashing back to the Keystone Quadrant where those alien bastards gave him his enhancements by tearing him apart, again and again.
"What type of enhancements?" Natasha asked with a cold look in her eyes. Her own enhancement by the handlers of Red Room, coming to mind.
"The enhancement are stronger bone structures made of Adamantium, and at least 19 special Organs given to the Space Marine" D explained looking a little uncomfortable before wincing as he continued "Let's just say the process is quite dangerous and painful and most recruits don't survive the enhancements".
"That's barbaric!!" Steve exclaimed in anger.
"I know but it is a great honour to become a Space Marine, so most recruits willingly go through it" D shrugged apologetically.
Steve pursed his lips but didn't said anything else. He himself have gone through the Super Soldier programme willingly, so he can understand where the recruits are coming from, and disagreeing with it will be hypocritical of him.
The Asgardians meanwhile looked impressed at the resilience of this warriors.
"To go through this, just at a chance to become a better fighter" Fandral hummed "These Warriors are worthy of Valhalla".
"As if a Human, no matter how brave, will ever ever see the Golden Halls of Valhalla" Odin snorted getting dirty looks from the Midgardians.
The next scene showed Millions of Gas Masked Soldiers, matching in Perfect union.
"Their comrades in arms are legion: the Imperial Guard and countless planetary defence forces"
"Ah Steve" Tony began nervously "I don't want to say they look like Nazis, but they look like Nazis".
Steve was too stunned to say anything.
"They are the Death Korps of Krieg" D replied biting back a smile at Steve's reaction "And yes they do look like Nazis".
"Nat" Clint turned to his red head partner "Remind me again what the word "Krieg" means in German".
"It means, War" Natasha along with Coulson and Maria replied simultaneous.
"So now we have Space Nazis, who are literally named War in a War torn Galaxy. Colour me surprised!" Fury breathed out sarcastically.
"The ever vigilant Inquisition and the tech-priests of the Adeptus Mechanicus to name only a few."
The next scene showed a man with a bionic red eye in black Power Armor, a raised sword in his right hand and an open book in his left, surrounded by dozens of augmented slaves. The camera slowly panned to the servants, showing the grotesque fusion of flesh and machine that now beheld them.
"What in the name of Norns is that?!" Volstagg exclaimed in disgust.
"The are the Adeptus Mechanicus, also know as Mechanicus or Tech-Priests for short" D replied "They are the techies of the Imperium".
"And the Inquisition?" Bruce asked "Are they like the Inquisition of Mediaeval Ages?".
"It will be revealed later" D replied diplomatically, refusing to elaborate further.
"But for all their multitudes, they are barely enough to hold off the ever-present threat from aliens"
A giant Green Alien with a curved sword yelled "Waaagh!!!!" before charging.
"Is that.." Tony stammered out.
"An Orc, Yes" D nodded "They are one of the major race in the Galaxy".
"So space Nazis aren't enough. Now we have Space Orcs too!" Fury grumbled.
"Heretics"
The next scene showed a Space Marine, but unlike the previous ones, it has massive horned helmet and multitude of purple glowing sigils across his body. His chest was covered in wide leather studded straps, the lower half covered in a long loincloth made from human skin with three fresh skulls and a severed hand hanging from the chest, the legs covered in black leather studded boots that reached the thighs with chains wrapped around the knees, and brown bandages wrapped around upper and forearms.
"What is this monster?!" Clint exclaimed.
"And is he wearing human skulls?!" Rocket pointed out uneasily.
"I am pretty sure he is wearing their skin too!" Drax exclaimed.
"This is a Space Marine of Dark legion." D explained "Corrupted by the dark forces they are the main enemy of the Imperium"
"Mutants"
The next was what could barely be called a man, a creature with sickly skin that held numerous scars and tubes filled with an unknown substance, massive mechanical claws with wires connecting to the shoulders replacing its forearms, the head covered by a metallic helm that was seemingly grafted onto the skull with tubes running from the back of the skull to a tank on the back. The creature was bare, save for a loincloth that mercifully covered the crotch, and leather belts that ran from the shoulders to around the waist and chest with studs decorating the lines.
Many in the audience were revulsed by the mutant on screen.
"I think I'm gonna be sick..." Tony gagged
"Ditto." Natasha said in disgust.
Loki felt his Seidr flaring up at the sight and for some unknown reason he felt a chill up his spine.
"- and far far worse."
The scene showed a rip in the fabric of reality and from it burst out a great Red Creature with massive horned wings, wielding dark flaming sword and a Whip. The creature roared causing the sky to turn dark blood-red. And then to the horror of the viewers it began raining, but instead of clear colourless rain-water, dark red liquid poured from the sky. The viewers immediately knew what it was. Blood.
"Is that raining blood?!" Pietro looked in horror.
"What the hell is this creature?!" Tony demanded suddenly feeling unease.
"This ladies and gentlemen, is a Daemon" D replied ominously.
"A Demon?" Steve asked "Like from Hell?".
"It's Daemon, and not Demon" D explained grimly "And I won't call the Warp Hell. If anything its far worser than Hell".
"Why?" Steve asked unease.
"Because only sinners go to hell" D replied before motioning with his hand "In the Warp however...I don't think I have to explain".
Steve nodded looking a little shaken.
While this is happening, the magic users couldn't help but feel a tug at their souls, as they looked at the portal. A whisper in their ears, a primordial music dancing in their minds.
"Is this the Mind Stone again" Loki thought closing his eyes. His breathe laboured. And he isn't the only one.
Both Frigga and Wanda are breathing hard. Odin looked pale and ragged. Even Pietro, whose powers came from Mind Stone, look jittery.
"What the hell was that?" Wanda demanded.
"I don't know" Loki confessed.
The scene showed thousands of naked slaves chained together, with crude helmets masking their faces.
"To be a man in such times is to be one amongst untold Billions."
Steve closed his eyes in despair. It is the Nazis all over again.
"It is to live in the cruelest and most bloody regime imaginable. These are the tales of those times." The scene showed thousands of people being executed by Flamethrower, over the suspicion that they worship the wrong gods.
The Avengers looked helpless. Even Fury was grinding his teeth in anger, feeling helpless at the injustice of this.
"Forget the power of technology and science, for so much has been forgotten, never to be re-learned. Forget the promise of progress and understanding, for in the grim dark future there is only war. There is no peace amongst the Stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of thirsting gods."
"How cruel can the Gods be?!" Quill growled.
"Believe me Peter!" D shook his head "You don't want to know"
"But can't you or your people do something to help them?!" Steve demanded in both anger and helplessness.
"As I said earlier we can see the events but we aren't strong enough to change or influence it" D explained "Not when powers higher than even us exist".
The scene changed to Bricky again, who was looking at the camera with a "dead inside" look in his eyes.
"Everything blows" Bricky said solemnly "And it blows fu*ing hard".
"No shit Sherlock!" Tony snarked out, still fealing a little shaken at what he just saw.
"The Dark Millennium, is probably the most dark and depressing Universes out there in the Multiverse" He paused, considering for a moment before correcting "Or at least like top three".
"I dread to wonder what the other two in the list are" Quill gulped, his mouth going dry.
"Everything in this hellhole is so absurdly horrible destructive or overpowered that it all kind of ends of cancelling itself out. I mean just look at it.
War rages, across the Galaxy. Interstellar travel is possible only due to sacrificing a 1000 Souls a day to the rotting carcass of a man, who you believe to be your God."
"Demonic Gods and other Deamons just tear open the fabric of reality on a whim" A Green horned Creature with one grotesquely swollen eye is shown. It has teeth producing out his belly and his entire body is covered with rot and pus.
They all recoiled seeing the disgusting creature. The Magic users once again felt a sharp pain flaring in their minds.
"Across the galaxy Xenos and even other Humans, end up killing each other in untold Trillions, every single Day of the year. It is a time of unending War, slaughter and a bloodbath amongst everybody."
"Trillions" Sif whispered a little dazed.
"Everyday" Fandral gulped. Not even Asgard with all its might can suffer this losses. If he remembered his lessons, then the Entire population of Yggdrasil is only 800 Billion.
"The populations must be massive to not only sustain this type of losses regularly but to replenish them quickly" Vision commented solemnly, his eyes downcast. Ultron's last words about how Humans are doomed coming to his mind.
"Entire Planets are deemed unrecoverable and are completely destroyed on a whim." The scene changed to show a fleet of Warships performing Exterminatus on a Garden World.
They all paled at the sight.
"Did they just?" Pietro stuttered out.
"Yes, they did" Quill said dazed. The destruction of the planet reminded him of the video about the Power Stone that the Collector showed them on Knowhere. Seeing Millions of people turning to dust on an instant.
The Asgardians paled too. They remembered how close Loki was in doing the same thing by destroying Jotunheim with Bifrost. Even Odin who forcefully subjugated most of Yggdrasil with Fire and Blood, didn't go his way to destroy any world, no matter how strong the enemy was.
"Please tell me that it was an lifeless World" Wanda literally begged. Her mind flashing back to the bombardment of her and Pietro's apartment, when they were only 10 years old.
D remained silent, but it was answer enough for them, as they all began cursing in their native tongues.
"Everything sucks" Bricky smiled grimly "But that's like the charm of it!"
"How in Helheim can it be charming?" Thor asked incredulously.
"You See, there are no self-righteous heroes in Dark Millennium. Everything in there is evil. But being evil is kind of fun."
"How is being evil kind of fun?!" Thor snarled out, lightning crackling from his clenched.
"Thor calm yourself!" Odin barked "This is unbecoming from a Prince of Asgard".
"Odin!" Frigga scolded her husband, but the All-Father refused to budge.
"Calm down brother" Loki squeezed his brother's shoulders lightly "Remember this is not our reality".
Thor took a deep breathe but calmed down causing the Avengers to look at the brothers in surprise.
"I mean just look at Humanity. They in their own right is a Xenophobic, prejudice, religious zealot group that kill each other just as they kill all their enemies. And they are like mid tier in the evil scale of Dark Millennium."
"If Humanity with all their bullshit and cruelty is only mid tier, then I really don't want to learn who is in the top" Rhodey said.
"Indeed" Vision nodded "The Imperium directly and Indirectly cause deaths of Trillions, daily. And even then they only get the middle spot. That's a butchery on an unprecedented scale."
"Nobody is good or a hero. Everyone is some flavour of evil, no matter which side you pick and choose to fight for, you are going to be the bad guy."
The Avengers clenched their fists to control their emotions. This goes against their very ideals and everything they faught for.
"But that's the fun of it" Bricky grinned "I mean being the Bad Guy, is Badass. Villains are cool man! Just look at them. They got cool armies, they got cool Weapons. Villains are cool, man!
And when everyone is a Villain, then everyone is pretty cool. And that's what make it charming, because everyone here can be the bad guy"
The Avengers turned towards Loki who raised an eyebrow looking back.
"Well can't argue about this line" Clint grumbled grudgingly, like saying this words pained his very soul.
"Yeah Loki does look badass with his armour" Tony nodded.
"Yeah, the black leathers does bring out his eyes" Wanda looked at Loki, biting her lower lip.
"Wanda!" Pietro yelped "Don't say such gross things in front of me".
"Don't be a prude Kid" Rhodey smirked causing Pietro to flip the bird at him.
"Do you hear that brother?" Thor grinned, causing Loki to grumble "Shut up, Oaf!"
"Oh dear, looks like I am getting carried away" Bricky apologised "Since we are all talking about Villains. Lets start talking about our main bad guy. Quote Unquote:- The Imperium Of Man".
"So now we will learn about the Imperium Of Mankind" D said causing the others to nod in anticipation.
Up Next:- The Imperium Of Man!!
