Hello everyone how's it going?
This was originally intended to serve as a one shot. My own tribute to Frost following her passing. But as my future plans for my fics coalesced I've decided to make this a part of those plans. Starting with incorporating this fic into the Origins aspect of my multiversal saga series.
Therefore but this additional chapter will also serve as 1.5 of "Rise Of The Guardian Protectorate" & in which we'll see Frost's recruitment into that pertaining organization. I hope you'll all like this.
Disclaimer: I don't own the Arrowverse or the MCU.
Setting: The Afterlife
Location: Replica Of Frost's & Caitlin's Shared Apartment
All throughout the living room were an assortment of gorgeous artwork consisting of sculptures, paintings, water coloring, murals on the walls, and a variety of objects shaped from clay. All of it courtesy of Frost who was having a blast doing one of the many hobbies she'd loved during her lifetime.
Following her introduction into the Afterlife by Lady Rama Kushna and her reunion with her father Thomas immediately afterwards, she'd been spending her time afterwards reconnecting with him. The 2 of them enjoying whatever this realm had to offer them while making up for lost time.
In addition but when not enjoying the company of her Father Frost had decided to lean back into her creative side. Grateful to Lady Rama and whoever else was in charge of the Hereafter for granting her the opportunity to continue exercising that side of herself.
Currently she was placing the finishing touches onto her latest painting. A painting consisting of a breathtaking prairie setting with a dark forest adjacent to it and the sparking ocean within the distance. While the bright rays of the sunlight cast an ethereal glow upon the land and sea beneath it.
Frost was significantly pleased with her latest creation and the end result. Considering it one of her finest pieces yet.
She continued working in addition to humming a pleasant song to herself until finally the painting was completed. Afterwards she positioned her paintbrush to the side and then removed her painting from its easel and lifted herself up from her seat before carrying it over to where her other paintings were positioned. Setting it among them before taking a moment to focus on and absorb her work with a satisfied sigh.
"Outstanding work. You've certainly outdone yourself," a highly familiar male voice expressed to her from behind. Admiring her paintings and other artwork. In response Frost quickly towards the direction behind her and came face to face with a tall figure enveloped in dark green flowing robes and with a hood draped over his head. The figure then lifted his hands towards his head and flung his hood backwards revealing to her the face of the deceased Oliver Queen, his pupils briefly flashing a bright sparkling green before returning to their natural color.
"Wait. Aren't you Oliver Queen? That Green Arrow guy from Star City who sacrificed his life to restore the multiverse?" she questioned him as her eyes widened in realization to which he nodded.
"Yes and no. It's true I'm Oliver but I'm also a being of significant power known as the Spectre. It's because of it that I was able to restart the Big Bang during the dawn of time and in turn reestablish the multiverse," he answered and explained to her leaving Frost more than impressed
"Soooooo are you also like some sort of god now or something?" she questioned him as she absorbed the info in awe.
Oliver chuckled a bit.
"I can understand why you'd think that but no I'm not a god per say. In fact there is only one God and he created everything while also having the ultimate power over life and death," he replied with a smile. "I only reversed the damage the Anti-Monitor caused to the multiverse then rebooted everything. There would probably be many people who if they knew me and all of this they would in turn consider me to be a demi god. As far as I'm concerned however I'm just a humble servant who was at the right place and time and fulfilled my duty to make a difference."
Frost nodded in understanding.
"Well you certainly are a hero. I mean you gave everyone across the multiverse a second chance at life. You even gave me a second chance at life, for as long as it lasted at least, and for that I'll be eternally grateful to you," she replied emotionally while impressed by his humility and selflessness.
"So are you Frost. For you've lived your life honorably protecting your city and loved ones," Oliver returned with a proud smile.
A thought then occurred to her regarding Oliver's presence.
"While it's cool to see you and all, no pun intended, why exactly have you come to my little section of the Afterlife?" she questioned him curiously. Interested in why exactly he's decided to visit her and suspecting it wasn't just a social call.
In response Oliver spoke up once more and began to explain.
"Following my release from the realm of the living, my duties as the Spectre expanded and also involve overseeing, managing, and guarding the multiverse," he explained and then continued. "I don't operate alone however but with 4 other fallen heroes. One of whom was one of my closest friends during my lifetime and still is in addition to being a hero you'd be highly familiar with. Together we serve as an organization known as the Guardian Protectorate whose mission was bestowed upon us by Rama Kushna along with the Living Tribunal. Both of whom would actually qualify as demigods. And besides myself and the others you are also among those chosen though your acceptance is entirely up to you.
"And so I ask you, Frost, but will you unite yourself with me and the others in safeguarding the multiverse and continuing to serve as a hero? But on a higher plane?"
Frost found herself completely floored once Oliver had concluded his words. Not knowing how to respond.
Her, a multiversal guardian. Assisting in executing authority over it and maintaining its security. What were the odds of that happening to her.
After recovering from the initial shock and then properly contemplating the idea she found herself warming to its concept. Not to mention that it wasn't every day someone would receive an opportunity to continue an activity, or in Frost's case yet another activity, they loved. And Frost loved protecting others and making a difference whenever she could. Not to mention the option of doing so on such a grand scale.
Therefore but there was only one answer she could give and with that settled she finally voiced it.
"I certainly will and I thank both you and those who sent you for considering me as an option to join your merry group," she responded and with a bright smile.
"You're most certainly welcome and you've earned it," Oliver smiled back at her and affirmed. Satisfied that his task to create the Guardian Protectorate was finally complete. "And now I invite you to accompany me to meet the rest of your new partners and so you can properly assume your position among them."
"Let's go then," Frost agreed after which her clothes transformed into that of her blue Frost uniform followed by her observing as the living room she and Oliver were in transitioned into what she realized was the headquarters of the organization. The headquarters serving as a throne room with 6 golden thrones which were all occupied. Upon seeing them she immediately recognized Laurel and ascertained she was the aforementioned close friend Oliver had brought up.
When the other guardians saw her they stood up from their respective thrones and greeted you.
"Hello Frost. Wonderful to have you with us," Laurel began first and pulled her into a quick embrace which Frost readily returned before they parted soon after.
"Thanks so much and it's wonderful to be among you all," Frost replied warmly. Meaning it.
"Well we're all definitely delighted to have you with us. And Laurel and I are especially gratified to have a third female member to round things out," Natasha then spoke up and shared the same sentiment while also wrapping Frost in a quick embrace. Followed by cheekily yet good naturedly adding the last sentence as they disengaged. Resulting in chuckles from everyone present though Laurel was of the same sentiment as her friend.
Tony and T'Challa also gave her their own greetings and took turns shaking her hand which she readily returned.
Afterwards Natasha directed her to her designated throne. The one upon which had the white snowflake emblazoned upon its backside. And Frost sat herself upon it.
"This is actually a pretty comfy though guys. Sweet," she voiced with an approving smile. A statement which caused her new partners to release chuckles once more while fully agreeing.
Over time a strong camaraderie would emerge between herself and her new companions. And from that a tight bond of true friendship with all of them.
Together the members would serve as a powerful force for good while their chief plans would include dealing with the corrupt Time Masters and laying the groundwork to reverse the horrifying damage the latter organization had wrought upon the multiverse. And Frost was eager to see all of this through as much as the others were. Her journey not over which in turn reinforced the belief of T'Challa and his people that death was not the end.
And it couldn't be more true for Frost and also for T'Challa or any of the other guardians. For in their case but death was not the end for them but only a beginning of a new existence. An existence they would take advantage of but for good and to the best of their abilities.
The End
A/N And this finally completes the tribute to Frost and properly concludes the entire origins of the Guardian Protectorate. I also hope you're all enjoying this saga so far.
Thank you all for reading and have a wonderful day.
