Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of the thief and the girl who walked on fire. Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I don't own RWBY, Monty Oum and Rooster Teeth do.

Cye looked around as he opened the door. The factory was obviously old. It surprised him, but then he remembered they were in Mantle.

Cye was upon a rusted maintenance ladder with the grace only a Faunus had. He sniffed the air and settled onto the second ledge.

"You should be lucky we find an empty factory…" Cye said to Cinder as the girl looked around. "You do NOT… Want to see a Centinel or worse? A Cenitaur… They'd feed on us like fresh food." Cye said before turning to look at cramped bunks.

Probably whatever menial conditions the factory allowed its staff. Cye turned to Cinder who stood below.

"You said we should talk." Cinder said, her amber eyes gleaming in the darkness of Remnant's moon.

"Then let's talk…" Cye said before sitting down on the edge of the platform. "We have till tomorrow night… SDC isn't going to be easy to get inside…" Cye said and looked at Remnant's moon.

"You're a huntsman, aren't you?" Cinder questioned as Cye swung his leg under the edge of the platform.

"Ah, your first question." Cye said as he leaned back to look through the shattered window. "No… I'm related to a huntsman. Samuel 'Smoky' Sino. Descendent of the Huntsmen from the great war… Only thing I seem to share with him if his ambition." Cye said with a frown, his fanged teeth bared.

Cinder looked at her ally as he hummed then turned his head to her.

"My question now," Cye said with a hum. "Do you have a plan? The way you've been wandering Mantle? It looks like you stumbled off the first transport you hitchhiked. I don't want to stay in Solitas either… But we're going to have to work together to get out." Cye said while blinking.

He watched Cinder grow silent for only a few moments before answering.

"I… Want to be strong and powerful." Cinder said and crossed her arms. "Strong enough to defeat anyone who can hurt me… Powerful enough to protect what I care about. He wanted me to be a Huntress…. But now I don't know where he is." Cinder said and looked down at her swords.

The other sword was a gift from Rhodes. She repaid his kindness by not going after anyone but her stepmother. While she hated her 'stepsisters', it was clear they were a symptom of her stepmother. She was mad at Rhodes, but she wouldn't become a monster like her stepmother.

"Power isn't always the best." Cye said before Cinder turned to him.

"And what do you want?" Cinder asked as she crossed her arms. "You saw the scar… People used me… People use everyone." Cinder said before the sound of footsteps cut her off.

Cye landed in a crouch in front of her. He straightened up; his blue eyes looked like sapphires to Cinder.

"I want to carve my own legacy." Cye said and crossed his arms. "And allow me to say it AGAIN… I can read people by their eyes. I had to live 2-3 years alone. You didn't run off and call me a freak on the tundra. Your scared and want a friend like I do…. I'm helping you because if you wanted to backstab me? You'd have done it the second it was convenient…" Cye said and hummed to himself as he looked to the side.

Cye knew that Cinder wasn't ok. She didn't look ok, nor did she sound ok.

"I don't trust people…"Cinder said as Cye hummed and leaned back on a pillar.

"Well, I trust you…" Cye said as he looked around the room. "We're be fine… We just need to figure out how to get into SDC." Cye said as he looked to Cinder.

"People will get hurt." Cinder said which caused Cye to hum and shake his head back and forth.

"People get hurt all the time… That's how things work." Cye said and hummed to himself. "Do you trust me?" Cye questioned and looked at Cinder.

She said nothing and Cye pondered what tomorrow would bring. He worried a lot about the break in.

And they still had a lot to learn… He wouldn't hurt the guards if he didn't have to… But that limited his options.

He looked over to see that Cinder had started to pass out. It made him laugh a bit about how tired the Huntress was.

They could talk in the morning as far as he was concerned. Cye sighed and started to pass out himself a moment later.

His thoughts would wait on wondering what to do next…. Because as far as he was concerned? Their next move would be the most important in his book. Cye slowly allowed sleep to take him.

Their first step was making sure Cinder didn't have Glass Unicorn clothes anymore.
