Classes

Time skip, Next day; Scene change, English Class; 3rd POV

It was the next morning, and Jake was sitting quietly at the desk at the front of the class, fidgeting slightly. The hair on his neck stood on end as his wolf was hyper-aware of everything that moved. He always hated having his back to the room, with the irrational fear that someone would stab him if he didn't look behind him every 5 seconds. He's also never been with so many people in a room at the same time before, it made him claustrophobic, with an intangible force constricting his lungs.

Present Mic was standing in front of the class with a chalkboard behind him. He wrote big letters in English on it, and finally understanding something that wasn't written in random lines gave him something to distract himself with, it took the edge off.

The man whom I respect is my father.

That is the house in which he lived.

I well remember the day on which we both met.

Please tell me that all you know.

"Now. Which of these four sentences contains a mistake?" Jake slowly raised his hand, ignoring the drool that was falling off his classmate's faces. Thankfully, when he isn't screaming, he isn't that hard to understand. "Hey everybody, look alive! Grammar rules!" "Spoke too soon," he thought as he slammed his head on the table, hands on his ears. When he was sure they weren't still ringing, He raised his hand again. "Jake! Lay it on me." It was the last one.

Time skip, Noon; Scene change, Lunch; 3rd POV

Jake was sitting with his friend in the Cafeteria. They all sat in their own booth, Jake had a mountain of deliciously rich food balanced on his tray, and he didn't hesitate to start chowing down. Iida, Uraraka, and Midoriya had their eyes wide in shock and their mouths hanging open when he already ate a third of it and showed no sign of slowing down.

"Jake-san," Iida started hesitantly, "Do you get fed enough?" Jake looked up, startled at the question, he looked like he wanted to continue devouring the food, but he carefully swallowed. "Wha-" he cut himself off to swallow a bit more. "What do you mean?" he asked clearly.

"You are eating all of that like it's nothing! Not even I can do that and I need it more than anyone." Jake shifted before replying, "Yeah, we do feed ourselves, but only salad, and stuff that Aizawa-Sensei cooks if he decides to have actual food and not just coffee, sure there are berries and stuff, fried fish and eggs if we're lucky, but that's it. Hadn't had meat in a while."

"Who's 'we'?" Uraraka jumped in. "My crew. Me, and my brother and sister," he added when he saw blank looks on their faces. Midoriya, finally fully processing the words, completely forgot about the other questions, "Wait. You live with Aizawa-Sensei!?" Urarakka and Iida looked at each other in shock, clearly not having processed it themselves.

Midoriya immediately pulled out his notebook and a pencil, stabbing them into the paper, looking positively manic as he furiously asked Jake questions about the Pro Hero. What he was like, what are his motives, what are his goals, and what it was like to see him use his quirk. It was terrifying. It got so out of hand that Iida had to rip his notebook away from him, close it, and give him a stern talking-to.

When the Hero Lunch Rush walked over to the table, Midoriya covered his mouth and whimpered in happiness and hero worship. They all finally turned their attention over to him and left Jake to calm down after the onslaught of questions.

Time skip, Afternoon; Scene change, Basic Hero Training; 3rd POV

"I AM HERE!" The ringing in Jake's ears grew slightly, but unlike the blonde Neverland Cockatoo, he could actually understand him. The door slammed open, with All Might in an extravagant red-yellow-blue costume. "Coming through the door like a hero!" Everyone gasped as if Christmas came early, many of them singing his praises.

"Welcome to the most important class of U.A. High! Think of it as Heroing 101!" The entire class had determination or excitement on their faces while others had stars in their eyes, but the one thing in common was that they hung onto every word he said. How could they not? He was like the greatest hero of all time.

"Here, you will learn the basics of being a Pro. And what it means to fight in the name of good!" That sentence made his entire life at Neverland flash before his eyes, being a legend, saving Pirate Island, all those times fighting Captain Hook, fighting with Peter Pan, protecting his mates, and even banding together to save Neverland from Lord Fathom. All of those times, he protected the innocent, those who couldn't defend themselves. Yeah, he thinks he has a pretty good idea of what "fighting in the name of good" means.

"Let's get into it! Today's lesson will pull no punches!" In his hand was a white slip of plastic, with red letters on it saying BATTLE. "Fight training!" Bakugou said, dark glee coloring his voice. "But one of the keys to being a hero is…" All Might paused for dramatic effect, "...looking good! These were designed for you based on your Quirk registration forms and the requests you sent in before school started," as he said this, the compartment in the wall opened, and they were labeled by number. Squeals and gasps filled the room as everyone clamored to get their costumes.

"Get yourselves suited up, and then meet me at Training Ground Beta!" He bellowed. "Yes sir!" everyone responded.

Thirty minutes later, All Might waited patiently at the door with his hands on his hips and his chest out. Then, when he saw the high school students walk out confidently, like heroes, some more than others, his grin grew even wider with pride. "They say the clothes make the pros young ladies and gentlemen, a behold! You are the proof."

"Take this to heart. From now on you are all… Heroes in training!" One look at the costumes that made a lasting impression caused his adrenaline to spike. "This is getting me revved up. You look so cool!"

Bakugou's hero costume is composed of a tight, black, sleeveless tank top, with an orange "X" across the middle, forming a V-neck. There are two dots along the left line of his collar, indicating the support company that designed his costume. His costume also has a metallic neck brace worn with rectangular ends. His sleeves reach from within his large grenade-like gauntlets to his biceps. His belt holds up his baggy pants with knee guards, below which he sports black, knee-high combat boots with orange soles and eyelets. His mask is jagged and black, and as it goes around his eyes, looking as if it was painted on, a large, orange-rimmed flare shape protrudes from each side. All of this combined with a feral smirk made him look very intimidating.

Uraraka's hero costume consists of a black, full-body suit with a pale pink design down the middle of her torso, topped with two black semi-spheres on her chest, pink stripes starting at her midsection, a deep pink choker, and two-toned pink sleeves with cuffs. It also has matching pale and deep pink colored accessories, including round gauntlets with handles, chunky, knee-high boots, and a two-piece belt with a round buckle. She sometimes wears matching headgear with a tinted visor, as well.

Momo's hero costume was apparently an improvement to the original design. She had thick, red, knee-high boots with yellow soles and knee pads. She had a red, functional skirt that was open in the front with a red strip of fabric in front keeping her modest while also exposing her legs. Since her quirk is more effective when her skin is exposed, it made perfect sense. The top of the costume consists of a tight, lightly armored shirt with velcro on the side to open the front. It had an open back, and a yellow utility belt with many compartments to house her creations. All of this was completed with a small holographic computer strapped to her wrist, containing all of the physics equations and formulas she could ever need. Altogether, she looked like a warrior princess.

Jake's hero costume is pretty much the same as when he was in Neverland. He wears a navy blue captain's hat, a matching blue jacket, black trousers, and a black belt with a gold buckle. He still wears his red bandanna and brown boots with the first letter of his name embroidered into them, while wielding his Mighty Captain Sword with him at all times. If anyone ever found the sword laying around, which would be impossible in the first place, they would not know how much it means to him.

There was also Midoriya's costume, which was just a green ripoff of All Might's most dominant features. The ears were of his golden hair, and the teeth were of his blinding smile. "You're so obvious!" he screamed internally as he looked away, shaking his head.

"Now that you're ready, it's time to combat training," The second that he finished the sentence, the teen in the knight costume's hand shot up. "Sir. This is the fake city from our entrance exam. Does that mean that we'll be conducting Urban Battles again?"

All Might raised his hand in a peace symbol. "Not quite. I'm going to move you two steps ahead! Most of the villain fights you see on the news take place outside. However, statistically speaking, run-ins with the most dastardly evildoers take place indoors. Think about it. Backroom deals, home invasions, secret underground lairs," "trafficking rings, murderers, hostage situations," he continued in his thoughts. "Truly intelligent criminals stay hidden in the shadows. For this training exercise, you'll be split into teams of good guys and bad guys and fight two-on-two indoor battles."

"Isn't this a little advanced?" Tsuyu Asui said in her croaking voice. "The best training is what you get on the battlefield. But remember, you can't just punch a robot this time. You're dealing with actual people now," All Might cautioned.

"People with intelligence," Jake thought back to his training sessions with his mates and his martial arts instructor, Master Rakami. His quirk is basically having infinite energy and never needing to sleep, so Jake was able to sneak past his guardian to get lessons at night. In the first few nights, considering he was a beginner, he was very impressive, and he was able to surprise him. As they went on, the lessons became increasingly difficult, however, he was able to adapt and learn just as quickly until he was able to pin him down and keep him there.

Then they went on to weapons fighting, which he was already proficient in. He reached a master's level in no time flat. It was there that he would never forget the words he said, "Jake, I can't teach you anymore, you have a gift, use it well, use it to protect those you love, and with every blow you land, every slash that strikes true, think of me." he could still feel the way he ruffled his hair.

"Sir, will you be deciding who wins?" Momo asked. "How much can we hurt the other team?" Bakugou asked eagerly as if he was asking permission to do whatever he wants from his parents. "Do we need to worry about getting expelled like earlier?" Uraraka asked. "Will you be splitting us up based on chance or comparative skill?"Iida chimed in. The onslaught of questions truly got on All Might's nerves and his smile became ten times more strained. "I wasn't finished talking!" He said with a gurgling noise.

He pulled out a notebook and opened it, Midoriya's eyes widened. "A script?" "The situation is this. The villains have hidden a nuclear missile somewhere in their hideout. The heroes must try and foil their plans. To do that, the good guys must try and capture the evildoers or recover the weapon. Likewise, the villains must either protect their payload or capture the heroes."

All Might proceeded to get a ballot box from out of nowhere and said, "Time's limited, and we'll choose teams by drawing lots!" Iida cut it and asked, "Isn't there a better way?" Midoriya raised his finger to make a point, "Think about it! Pros often have to team up with heroes from other agencies on the spot, so maybe that's the reason we're seeing that here!" He said enthusiastically, like always when he can talk about heroes. "Yes I see," Iida said with a resigned tone, "Life is a random series of events. Excuse my rudeness."

Almost cutting the armor-clad teen off, All Might be whipped around and said, "No sweat! Let's draw!"

Team A - Izuku Midoriya and Jake Never

Team B - Rikido Sato and Fumikage Tokoyami

Team C - Katsuki Bakugo and Toru Hagakure

Team D - Mina Ashido and Mezo Shoji

Team E - Yuga Aoyama and Tenya Iida

Team F - Hanta Sero and Tsuyu Asui

Team G - Denki Kaminari and Kirishima

Team H - Kyoka Jiro and Mashirao Ojiro

Team I - Minoru Mineta and Momo Yaoyorozu

Team J - Shoto Todoroki and Ochaco Urarakka

Jake looked excited. He cheered with an arm up in celebration, "Midoriya, don't you see? We're a team!" He sheepishly nodded.

When he realized who he's been placed with, Midoriya was relieved. He may have wanted to be placed with Urarakka, with her bubbly personality, but he was also grateful to be placed with the second friend he ever made, after Kacchan, and beggars can't be choosers. Even if he says the most peculiar things known to man and growls at whistles.

He turned to him nervously and fiddled with his costume. "Hey, Jake-kun… I just wanted to say, I'm sorry." Jake looked at him and asked, "What for? You did nothing wrong." Midoriya was shocked for a moment, but he persisted, "Jake-kun, I'm sorry that I assaulted you with all those questions, some that I had no right to ask, and I know it seemed like I only took an interest when I found out you were living with a Pro, but I'm not, I'm proud to be your friend." Jake smiled happily, tail wagging and ears up. "Thank you, Midoriya-kun, I forgive you, I assume you won't do it again." "Never again!"

Their attention is hooked when All Might is digging through two boxes, one labeled 'Villain' and the other labeled 'Hero'. "I declare that the first teams to fight will be…" he yanks his hands from the boxes and shows the balls for all to see, "these guys!" The white one was A, and the black one was C. "Team A will be the Heroes! Team C will be the Villains! Everyone else can head to the monitoring room to watch."

Dread settled into his stomach as his eyes hesitantly, against his will, turn and look over at his childhood bully. Bakugou had an unreadable look on his face, combined with his burning red eyes he nearly fainted, he quickly looked ahead. His feet stayed planted on the ground, unwilling to move, he was silent for a moment, trying to stabilize his shaking body, before he clenched his fist with newfound resolve, and look back at his old tormentor right in the eye. It was so shocking, that the explosive teen gasped, then growled.

Some time passed, and All Might said, "All right bad guys, you can go on in and get set up. In five minutes, the good guys will be let loose and the battle will start." Jake leaned over and whispered, "It's like playing 'Hunt', letting out wild beasts to kill the pirates that are supposed to fight them to the death back home," he then leaned back as if it was perfectly normal. He sent a bewildered look at him, trying to make sense of what he said.

Sometime later they were all in front of a building that was likely going to get demolished. Bakugou and Hagakure, the invisible girl, were walking into the building as Jake sniffed them to catch their scent, he couldn't smell clothes on Hagakure. He was taken aback by the implications, "How does she know where to walk?" and, "Is she naked?" He thought to himself.

"Bakugou-Shounen, Hagakure-Shounen," All Might's booming voice stopped them from going inside. 'The key to being successful in this challenge is to embody villainy. Think from the perspective of an evildoer," as he said this Bakugou turned over to look at Midoriya, who was looking intensely at his hand. "If things go too far, I'll step in," the explosive teen didn't hear him, his frown morphed into a snarl.

Bakugou and Hagakure walked into a spacious room on an unknown floor, she walked silently over to the bomb. The only way one could tell is the disembodied boots and floating gloves. "Hmm, the first order of business, don't let the bomb go off." With a sharp knock on it, she could tell it was hollow. "Fake. Obviously," Her attention is drawn by Bakugou, "Do you really think Deku has a Quirk?" he says this with his back turned. She said, "Well, don't you remember how he threw that ball? If that isn't a quirk I don't know what is. Though he did break his finger," she added with an invisible shrug.

Seeing the blond stiffen up impossibly, another thing came to mind, "Why are you always so angry when it comes to Midoriya? Ooh! Is that drama I smell?" The gossip in her showed itself. Bakugou didn't even hear the last sentence, his shoulders shaking with rage. "Was he seriously just tricking me all these years?" He flooded with burning resolve as a wicked grin overtook his face. "I'm gonna roast that damn nerd today!"

Back outside the building both Midoriya and Jake were leaning against a pile of cinderblocks, Jake had his nose buried into the map All Might gave him, turning it every way he could. "I should have listened when Cubby said that I should learn to read a map, I thought we'd never be apart. But you should never say never, I of all people should know that. But I think I'm getting the gist of it- What in NeverLand?" he whispered that last part, "You're sweating through your clothes!" He said urgently.

"Well… It's 'cause… we're up against Kacchan…" Midoryia said, gripping his own map tightly, "And there's Hagakure too, an invisible girl, so we need to be on guard…"

Jake nodded assuringly, "Yeah, I agree, but you don't need to worry. I'm your friend." Midoriya didn't acknowledge the claim. "He's amazing." He said with the utmost conviction. "He's a piece of work, but his goal, his confidence, his strength, and his Quirk are way more amazing than mine. But… that's why…" He put his metal mesh mask on. "I don't want to lose."

If Jake was still in his 8-year-old body, he wouldn't have been insightful enough to say this, "Hey," he got Midoriya's attention, "I'm going to tell you what I know from experience. There is a difference between confidence and arrogance. By the second star, I should've learned that lesson sooner," the green-haired boy opened his mouth in bewilderment, but Jake cut him off, "What Bakugou-san has is too much pride for his own good. When someone's pride is hurt they will get very angry and they will do whatever they can to save it."

He smiled sadly at the look of disbelief on his face, "But as your friend, I will always have your back. Trust me, if Bakugou wants to hurt you, we'll fight back, together." He rests his hand comfortingly on his shoulder.

Midoriya smiles as All Might announces the start of the exercise through the hidden speakers. "Now, let's start the indoor person-to-person combat training with Team A and Team C!" They were told that the rest of the class would be watching from the security room, watching through hidden cameras, so now one of Jake's recent rules is justified. Always be wary.

The buzzer sounded, and the two jumped into a conveniently opened window of the building, and what they saw shocked them. The interior was a maze, whose walls were completely comprised of metal in a grid pattern. It had long winding hallways and dim lights, perfect conditions for an ambush. Jake stood in front of Midorya, slightly hunched, silent like a predator stalking its prey.

They reached a corner with Jake looking to the side. They continue down the maze, opting to speak to fill the silence. "So," Jake whispered, "I think we need to think up battle plans, like who will face who, who'll go for the bomb, stuff like that." Midoriya was surprised out of his thoughts, but he didn't oppose the suggestion. "I think," he said, "that you should go for the bomb and I should cover you. I think Kacchan is coming for me, besides you'll be better at avoiding Hagakure than I am." Jake affirmed, "Sounds like a plan."

The second Jake finished the sentence, a flash of blonde came out from one of the intersecting hallways. He saw the explosion coming from a mile away, so he was able to push Midoriya out of the way with no visible injuries, though the tips of his hat were singed. "You okay?" He asked anyway. He got a "yeah, thanks" in response.

The smoke was starting to clear, and Bakugou waved his hand through it, revealing himself and the gaping hole that was just made. "Come on Deku, don't dodge," he said with a single-minded focus on the green-haired teen, completely ignoring his other opponent. "I figured you'd come for me first." "Predictable." He didn't say.

They both slowly got up, not knowing about the rage that the spiky-haired redhead, Ejiro Kirishima, was feeling. "A surprise attack from the start? That isn't manly at all!" He yelled, driving his knuckles into his palms. "A surprise attack is a strategy too," All Might reminded, "They're in the middle of a real battle right now." Mina squealed, "Jake-kun avoided it!" Denki Kaminari, paired with Kirishima, chimed in, "Here comes Bakugou!"

"I won't do so much damage that this fight gets stopped," they all hear on the speakers, "but I'm gonna get close!" He started with a powerful right hook but was dumbfounded when Midoriya, worthless Deku, caught it, spun around, and hauled him over his shoulder, using his own momentum against him. With a mighty crash, all the air was knocked right out of him.

"Way-hey! Midoriya that's amazing!" a distant voice said.

Adrenaline rushed through Midoriya's system and he panted heavily when the reality of what he just did crashed down on him. "Kacchan…" He starts as said teen slowly rose from his spot on the ground. "You usually start with a big right swing. How much do you think I've been watching you? I wrote an analysis for all the heroes I thought were amazing in my book," he pants. "In the notebook, you blew up and threw away," he says as his tone took on a sharp edge.

The explosive teen seethed at his former bully victim, body shaking and irises small. "My 'Deku' isn't always going to mean 'useless'!" As Bakugou's snarl got even more pronounced, Midoriya only grew more defiant. "Kacchan, my 'Deku' means 'You can do it!'" His declaration bounced off the walls, only emphasizing his point.

Bakugou had finally gotten up from his position on the floor, turning his back on Jake, looking angrier than ever. "Deku…" He growled as he remembered the weak, sniveling, useless boy, standing in front of his next victim, taking an abysmal fighting stance. "Kacchan, if you keep going, I'll never forgive you!"

"Bakugou, Bakugou where are you? Why'd you run off like that!?" The ringing from his earpiece sounded. He didn't take his eyes off his target as he raised his hand to it, "Just shut up and defend. I'm really angry right now!" The invisible gossip responded, "I don't care how you feel Bakug-!" He hung up.

"Even though you're scared, you don't back down…" His hands sparked violently, "That's what I hate about you!"

Back in the control room, Kirishima looks resigned, eyes darting from one screen to the next. "What's Bakugou saying? Can't tell with just the cameras and no audio," his attention was grabbed by All Might when he said "He's talking to his partner over the wireless radio," Now addressing everyone else, "You can bring that plus the building floor plan, and this capture tape!"

He holds a small roll of thin white tape, "Once you wrap this around your opponent, it shows you've captured them." Mina, ever curious, notices the countdown clock, "The time limit is 15 minutes, and the heroes don't know where the nuclear weapon is located, right?" After he confirmed her fears, her quiet attitude did a full 180, she was clearly worried about the first friend she made here. "Then the heroes are clearly at a disadvantage here!"

"Heroes," All Might responds, "should be able to turn the tables on whatever predicament they're in." He raised his finger in a manner typical of teachers. "Besides, didn't Aizawa-san tell you, too?" In a heroic flourish, fist to the air "Here we go-" Everyone joined in, "Plus Ultra!" Aoyama, the one in the sparkling cape, warns too late "Monsieur, Bakugou is–"

Bakugou angles his arms behind him to the floor, Midoriya notices this just in time to yell "Jake, go!" Ignoring the order, Jake jumps in front of him with his sword in an aggressive position, just in time for Bakugou to propel himself with his explosions to them. Jake feints with his sword and aims a kick to the shin. Bakugou was barely fazed, but aimed a kick of his own at Midoriya's head, he blocked it, but he clearly did not expect it. "This is between you and me!"

"I'm not going to leave you, Midoriya!" Jake took the opportunity to land a shallow slash to the back, letting him bleed sluggishly. The adrenaline prevented him from feeling the full sting, but still surprised him enough to falter for a second. That was all Midoriya needed, in a flash, he pulled out the white capture tape, and started wrapping it around his leg. He ran through his notebook in his head, and knowing Kacchan, he ran when he figured out he would throw a right hook again.

"It's me he wants! You have to go!" "I can't!"

Bakugou landed and jumped to throw a punch at him, not caring less about Jake, and made another gaping hole. Before he could pull back Jake landed a powerful elbow to the wound on his back, he slammed front-first into the wall. He didn't waste any time before he started to wrap his arms with the tape, but massive explosions melted through and knocked him down. He looked up just in time to see him barreling down on him intending to make a Jake-shaped dent in the floor.

With the nimbleness of a wild cat, Jake leaped up, out of the way of the explosion, onto his shoulders, and gracefully backflipped onto the sturdy ground again. "Do you trust me?" Midoriya yelled over Bakugou's shoulder. "Yes!" "Then go!" This time he didn't ignore it, he ran the opposite way, not looking back, trusting Midoriya to win.

Bakugou looked conflicted for a moment before his anger over Deku won out, and turned to face him again. His head jerked back when Deku suddenly gave a powerful punch to the jaw.

In the command room, Sato, the big sugar brute, yelled in amazement, "That guy's amazing! Both of them are, they aren't even using their power! They're fighting against that guy with such a powerful Quirk." "And just look at him, why did he punch him, why isn't he running away?" Kaminari asked. Momo, ever the observant, said "It's because he wants to keep Bakugou angry and focused on him, allowing his teammate to escape. But they only have limited time."

Bakugou put his palms to the ground in preparation for the explosions that would come out, seeing this, Midoriya turned tail and ran, turning the corner. Burning with anger, Bakugou ran after him, only to find that he disappeared. Everywhere he looked, around he ran, he just wasn't there. His shoulders shook as he stood in the middle of a four-way split, he let out his rage through his shout, knowing Deku would hear him.

"Hey! You tricked me, didn't you?! Was it fun tricking me all this time?! Huh!?" As he ran through all his childhood memories of him and Deku, him being the shining star, right from the start, and pathetic little Deku, unworthy to stand in his presence. "You've got a flashy Quirk there don't you!?" He hunched down, hands tense like claws. "Come and get me with it!" Small but powerful explosions formed in his hands. "'Cause I'm better than you!"

Back with Jake, he found the bomb room using his nose, he silently crept, keeping low to the floor, his sword sheathed in the pocket dimension. On all fours, he made his way through the entrance and took refuge behind a pillar, his back to it, and called Midoriya. With a hand in his ear, he whispered, "Midoriya-kun, I found the bomb room." On the other end he heard steadying breaths, and an answer, "Okay, good, where is it?" Retracing his steps, Jake answered, "The middle of the fifth floor." A pause, "Great, I'll be right there, but if you can, get the weapon. That's the top priority." "Aye-aye," He turned off the coms.

He properly assessed the room, there were many large square pillars, many miscellaneous items, the bomb in the middle, and discarded boots and gloves. Remembering Hagakure's quirk, he knew that she was invisible, so he can't see her, but he can hear her. Straining his ears, he could hear the soft smacks of bare feet on stone, confirming she was in the room but he couldn't pinpoint her exact location. Then he heard her speak, "Ugh, my god, who does Bakugou think he is? Running off like that." Now with that, and her scent, he knew where she was, right in front of the bomb, probably facing it.

Maybe there was something in the room- he saw it. A bucket half-filled with powdered sand, the kind used in construction work.

If he could sneak up behind her, he could throw it on her and she wouldn't be invisible anymore. With her revealed, he could capture her and the weapon, and they'd win. It's perfect. He silently lifted the bucket from the handle with minimal effort and held it close to his chest. Straining his ears again, he made sure of her location. With a breath to steel himself, he took a step, then another, then one more. Then he was right behind her. He raised the bucket, and-

"You know if you wanted to sneak up on me you should have done it better." Her voice was so unexpected he literally jumped a full three feet in the air and dumped half of the sand on the floor. Though it served its purpose, the sand parted around her feet, and some stayed suspended, showing her exact position. Jake immediately unsheathed his sword and put it where he thought her neck would be. She's trapped.

Suddenly, the entire building shook violently, with some dust and rubble falling from the ceiling, landing on both of their heads. Now he knows how tall she is. When the rumbling stopped, he finally regained his footing, but she fell down. He pulled the capture tape out and pounced on her, blindly grabbing for her invisible wrists even as she flailed to get him off. When he grabbed her wrist, she used her other hand to grab him by the ear and yanked him to the side. With a yelp, he let her go.

He got caught off guard by the voice in his ear. "Jake! What's the situation?" She was able to scramble out from under him, standing up on shaky legs, Jake running after her. "I've got her right where I want her!"

He pounced on her again, this time, immediately pinning her down, front to the floor, finding her wrists, not thinking about the fact that she was naked. With no hesitation, he taped her hands and forearms together behind her back, no chance of escaping. "If you've got her, get the weapon!" Midoriya said. Jake, heeding his warning, ran over to Hagakure, and hoisted her over his shoulder, taking her to the side of the room to prevent potential injury. He set her down gently, taking mind of her bare skin.

He ran over to the bomb, intending to wrap his arms around it. But the building shook again with the force of an earthquake, this time the ground beneath them broke, an almost perfect circle through the floors of four full floors, and all the windows turned to sharp knives in a matter of seconds. The blow was deafening, the air pressure forced them to the ground.

It was hard to hear the ringing in his ears but he could hear Bakugou's voice. "From the start, you were… You are underestimating me aren't you!?" He could vaguely hear Midoriya's response, but it wasn't important at the moment. Another thing that was vague was the realization that he lost the captain's hat.

Once it was normal again, he was able to get up on shaky legs, stumbling but careful not to fall, to grab the weapon. "Retrieved!" He finally yelled, just as the time ran out. "Indoor person-to-person combat training-" All Might who was on the loudspeaker paused for dramatic effect, "-Hero Team, WINS!"

Jake, hearing this, nearly collapsed in relief. Only gathering his bearings as he remembered Hagakure was helplessly tied up and naked. He was able to dust off his clothes and brush some small glass shards out of his hair. He carefully walked toward the floating capture tape and tried to talk to it. "Hey Hagakure-san, can I try to get it off?" A frustrated sigh was heard, and the tape rose as she stood, it shifted and he realized she was turning around. The tape rose again as he unsheathed his sword, and in one fell swoop it tore.

Time skip, 30 Minutes; 3rd POV

Jake was checked over by an old lady, she seemed to be the one that healed him after the entrance exams. She seemed nice enough, but he couldn't quite let go of the slightest resentment for old people, living in Neverland practically all his life. After she chided him lightly, was sent back to the control room, just as they started to review the fight. All Might, as always, was the center of attention.

"Well, even if I say that the MVP for this battle was Never-Shounen!" His arm was extended to the doorway where said student stood. "Ah- Me? Really?" He asked with an air of bashfulness. The rest of the class patted him on the back, a male with circular elbows even said, "There was never any doubt." "Ah, yes, but why?" All Might said with a questioning look. "Does anyone know?"

Immediately, Momo, the one with the costume fitting of a warrior princess, raised her hand in answer. "Yes, All Might-Sensei." All attention was on her. "That is because Never-san used his Quirk and swordsmanship effectively to help Midoriya-san fight Bakugou-san. He then used his acute senses to find the room with the bomb, as well as able to successfully fight and subdue someone invisible. He also used his heroics to bring Hagakure-san to safety after the fact, an untrue hero would have left her there."

"Also, from watching the fights themselves, it appears Bakugou-san acted on an obviously personal grudge. And as All Might-Sensei said earlier, it is foolish to launch such a large attack indoors, especially one of such magnitude," Bakugou didn't visibly react. "In the same way, taking into account the extent of Midoriya's injuries, his plan was also rash. As for Hagakure… she had the element of surprise because of her Quirk, but she lost it when she gave her exact location away, she could have taken Never-san by surprise and possibly captured him."

"If Never-san had reacted differently in any way, his team would have lost." Her words echoed in all of their heads. "We should always start with the basics to develop depth of learning. We must strive to devote ourselves wholeheartedly. Otherwise, we cannot become top heroes," she said with conviction and had a satisfied look as she finished her piece. Everyone in the class was looking at her in awe.

"Uhm… Thank you Yaoyurozou, but I'd prefer if you'd all call me by my real name, Jake." He said with a bashful smile and his hand behind his head. "Oh. Of course Ne- sorry, Jake-san." He beamed at her answer.

No one noticed the internal conflict that All Might was having. "Sh-She said more than I expected." Though he was able to compose himself, not entirely, but enough. "W-well, Hagakure-Shounen also has parts of her that could think things through more, but, yes, that is Correct." He finished with a thumbs up.

"Alright everyone," All Might said, gaining the class' attention again, "Let's change locations and start the second match. Tackle this training after thinking about what we just talked about." The next few hours flew by as the other kids teamed up with each other, the rest would observe in the Camera Room, just as in the first round. There were many faces that Jake recognized.

The most notable team that followed Jake, was Team J, in a matter of seconds Todoroki was able to completely encase the entirety of the building with the ease that was only shown by ShiverJack. Just the thought of his unforgiving winters drew shivers down his spine, he quickly looked behind him, expecting to see him pop out at any moment, but apparently, the rumors about him causing these shivers weren't real at all.

Another one worthy of note was Team B, particularly Tokoyami, the teen with a raven's head, he walked down the dark halls, cloak wrapped around his body, and took step after step, glaring menacingly. Then, out from under his cloak, two hands made of shadows emerged, seeming to suck out all surrounding light. He made almost as much of an impression as Captain Wraith, but nothing could beat the terrifying confusion of being turned into a ghost, even if he got over it in the first minute.

At the end of these lessons, everyone was standing by the entrance of that same fake cityscape. Multiple buildings are now demolished behind them. All Might stood tall in front of them, commending them for their exploits, "Good work everyone! We didn't have any major injuries other than Young Midoriya, either! You guys took this seriously. You all did a good job for your first training!"

The girl with the frog quirk, an all-green wet suit, and a croaky voice spoke up. "To have such a class after Aizawa-Sensei's class…" The image of Aizawa's wide manic eyes and a giant feral grin that made him look unhinged tore through everyone's minds and most of them shuddered. "It's kind of… anticlimactic." Everyone nods in agreement.

"We're allowed to have normal classes too!" He raises a hand to the sky, slightly turning to indicate he was about to leave. "Well then, I must review the results with Midoriya-Shounen. Change and return… To the classroom!" With that, he turned around fully and sprinted through the long hallway, leaving the air pressure to whip at their hair and whatever flowy garments of their hero costumes, those that had hats, particularly Jake, felt it lift but were able to keep it on, giggling all the way.

In seconds, he was gone, leaving everyone to exclaim how cool he is.

Time skip, Sunset; Jake's 3rd POV; Scene Change, 1-A Homeroom

Jake was animatedly chatting with Mina and the spikey-haired boy, who introduced himself as Kirishima as they wait for the bell to signal dismissal. "Congrats on being the MVP for your match, you were amazing! I wouldn't have been able to fight someone completely invisible on the first try, and you barely got hurt the entire match. That takes some serious skill!" He said, and Jake beamed at the praise.

It was weird having such an action-packed day at school, but the countless adventures he was sure to have with his new friends just as he did in Neverland let him feel some semblance of normalcy. He just wished he could experience all of this with his family, they haven't even been apart for more than a day, but even then it was torture.

He was leaning against the desk and was mid-sentence when his ear involuntarily twitched, hearing something thudding rhythmically, he turned to the door, abruptly cutting himself off. Mina followed his eyes to see what he was looking at, Kirishima following suit, looking confused. The noise stopped and the door slid open, revealing a very tired-looking Midoriya in a sling.

Kirishima broke out into a wide toothy grin, "Oh! Everyone looks, Midoriya's here!" He exclaimed, catching the attention of everyone in the class. Midoriya looked like he didn't expect the attention, which was honestly ridiculous. Most of the students eagerly went up to him, Kirishima first got in front of him spouting out compliments, the rest of the class was not far behind. "That was some great work! I'm not even sure what you said during the match but man, you were fired up!"

Sero, the teen with the circular elbows, who was standing behind Kirishima yelled, "I can't believe you fought Bakugou evenly, he was one of the top scorers in the Entrance Exam!" Mina chimed in, jumping excitedly, "You did a great job dodging!" A big beefy teen with big lips stands behind all of them, "You did all of that in the first match, so we had to give it our all too!" Jake stood next to Kirishima saying, "I watched the playback of the battle and Midoriya-kun! I couldn't have done it better myself!" A sparkly blonde looked out from behind Mina saying, "You were far from elegant but-" he was cut off by Mina who repeated, "You did a great job dodging."

He looked overwhelmed by the onslaught of praise, face flushed, clearly not able to process it all. "I'm Kirishima Ejiro!" The spikey redheaded teen said as he points to the teen behind him, "We're just going to train right now!" "Sero Hanta!" The teen with big teeth and circular elbows said. "I'm Aoyama Yuga-" The sparkly teen says before he gets cut off. "I'm Ashido Mina! You did a good job dodging!" The entirely pink teen squealed again as if she was standing in front of her favorite celebrity. "I'm Asui Tsuyu. Call me Tsu," the girl with green, wet-looking hair said, with the same croaking voice. The boy with big lips said, "I'm Sato!" Jake said, "Well, you already know me, I don't need to introduce myself!" with that same perpetual smile.

Midoriya looked to be more overwhelmed than ever, unable to string a full sentence together. Suddenly a boy so small he could be mistaken for a toddler jumped in front of them all yelling, "I'm Mineta!" In a distinct Superman pose. Everyone in the group started getting annoyed at the boy with purple balls on his head.

Only those eight people were by Midoriya, the rest were casually sitting around, waiting for the bell to signal dismissal. Tokoyami in particular was sitting on a desk, just sitting in silence with Ojiro and Jirou, before he finally had enough and said, "You're too loud." Just as Iida marched up to him with determination, yelling at him to stop sitting on his desk because "It is disrespectful" and "I will not let you disgrace the desks that our great upperclassmen once used!"

Uraraka walks in with Denki, whose asking her to go eat with him, they're both holding a stack of books respectively. She sees Izuku's sling and walks up to him with a concerned look, "Deku-kun? Wasn't Recovery Girl supposed to heal your injuries?" Midoriya looked at her with a slightly flustered smile, as he was literally being crowded just minutes ago. "Oh yeah, she just has to do it in sessions because it's based on stamina and-" He stops. Looking over Mina's shoulder, he saw the one empty seat. "Uh- Uraraka-san, everyone, I'm sorry, but I have to go." With that he just turned tail and ran, mindful of his injury, leaving everyone confused.

Time skip, End of the School day; 3rd POV; Scene change, Outside of school

Jake was anxiously waiting outside of the school, hands sweating in anticipation. Suddenly he saw a flash of pink and yellow, running up to him, he just opened his arms wide and accepted the hug from Izzy, his sister in all but blood. Just as he let her go a flash of blue entered his vision, Cubby, his little brother, and he hugged him too. He held them both tightly, wanting to cry because the time they were apart was torture. They just held each other, no words spoken, none were needed because he knew they felt the same way.

Author's Note:

Hey guys, so you're probably wondering why Koda wasn't in the lots to draw, or in the scoreboard in the quirk assessment test. It's because I'm straight-up cutting him out of the story. I'm sorry to those who think it's cruel to just leave out one of the sweetest kids in the class, and not the ugly perverted grape, but it's for an important reason. He just adds literally nothing to the story.

Honestly, if you just cut him out of the manga or anime entirely, nothing significant will change. But if you take Mineta out, many things will change, but not so much. Also, this is just my excuse for having the other characters, particularly the girls beat him up if he tries something, they just take it in canon, but that will NOT happen here, I assure you.

Stay safe, and lots of love!
