Got on a tear and Callera demanded I finish this arc because this part makes her uncomfortable

When Masters Windu and Drailig arrived, instead of investigating the current archival disruption, Callera was ushered quickly to the Council's chambers with the full council present, except one.

"Master Mundi is currently involved with interviewing the head of the Trade Federation's delegation and will be brought up to speed at a later time." Master Windu's deep voice echoing in the quiet chamber."

"Jedi Bladesinger, why did you feel the need to cause a disruption in the Archives?"

"It was shock at first, I honestly did not think the evidence that someone messed with the Archives would be so easy to see."

"Could it just be that data was not entered correctly?" A voice from behind her calls out.

"You would need someone with better math or stellar cartography skills to explain it properly, but basically there should not have been a hole in the map right there in that way."

Plo Koon's mechanical voice fills in, "So the map shows that there is something with gravity at the center of a blank hole in the map."

"Correct, it appears that all data for a single system was removed from map, but the actual math and gravity well information kept the hole in the map making it easy to see."

"What world is missing?" Windu's eyes bore through Callera's

"Kamino, according to Obi-Wan's contacts they are a society of cloners. One that in theory could generate the army that the Republic would need in the Clone Wars."

"Do you think Master Sifo-Dyas, hid it to keep others from interfering?" Another voice off to her right.

This was going to be the hard part, they weren't ready, not enough information. "Or someone else altered it to keep us from finding it and following up on it faster. Remember the Clones will have a trigger order that causes them to cut down the Jedi. Would you want the Jedi to have access to that army before those orders are flash coded into the Clones?"

"Which is why you called for the Battlemaster as well."

"Correct Master Windu, as far as I am aware he is the one with the authority to run an investigation into the how and who of such a violation of the archives."

"Suspect someone you do." Yoda's words bringing unease to the room. "Someone of great importance to the Council, which is why Padawan Kenobi conducted this plan."

"Indeed, Master Qui-gon, Healer Ky'sa and Padawan Kenobi were asking me questions about my knowledge of the Clone Wars. Looking for more leads," Callera can see various Masters nodding to the point, "when we came to a conclusion we knew we needed to prove or disprove without causing alarm."

"Count Dooku, is a threat you feel." Callera fights to keep from stiffening as Yoda keeps talking, "His connection to Sifo-Dyas and his title worry you."

"He is also powerful in the Force, someone who Sidious can manipulate with offers of greater power and would make a good focal point as an opposition leader. Especially to grab the attention of the Jedi. He fits the profile and I wish I had more concrete knowledge and proof to give you, but all I have are three things; he fits the profile, Sifo-Dyas is dead, the records are altered and he is someone who has motive, means, and opportunity to do so."

"What if you are jumping at shadows, Jedi Bladesinger?" Windu's voice continuing that steady.

"If he's innocent, then he's a great resource to dangle as bait in front of Sidious as a potential replacement for Maul. Or to encourage him to actually negotiate in good faith between the Republic and various commercial guilds in a decade's time. Either way is important and we know someone wanted to keep th Order from knowing about Kamino. That is not jumping at shadows."

Windu nods in acceptance of the point before Yoda looks to Cin Draillig, "Find the culprit of the data alteration you must, but quietly. Right to keep quiet Bladesinger was until the breach was found. But find it you must, Battlemaster."

Draillig bows and moves for the door.

"Master Windu wishes to talk to you Jedi Bladesinger, please remain here while the rest of us depart." At this the rest of the Council departs and an awkward silence starts to descend on the room.

"The Council wishes for you to test Padawan Kenobi's skills in action, Jedi Bladesinger" Windu's firm voice losing some of the edge it had during her interrogation

"Why? Surely his experience speaks for itself."

"You have said it yourself, Jedi Bladesinger. This is not your timeline and there are changes. If you believe that the Jedi that beat Maul is in Kenobi, show him to us."

"Master Windu, do you understand what you are asking of me? You are wanting me to push him to where he was in the middle of a conflict, his Master dying and only one option to win? Do you know what I will have to do to get him there?" Callera's voice near pleading as she stares down the dark-skinned Master.

"What do your histories tell you of me?"

"The only part that stuck with me, was the fact that you built your own lightsaber form. An evolution of one of the more aggressive forms, but everything else slid right past."

"Vaapad." Windu's head tilts in acknowledgement, "it is more than just a form for lightsaber combat, it is also a state of mind in combat that the few who have been taught it maintain."

"The recordings of my fight with Maul in the docking bay, you think I fight with that state of mind."

"Or just perilously on the wrong side of it, Bladesinger."

Callera takes a moment, "When I fight, truly fight. It is all about ruthless efficiency, I will cut down the obstacle in front of me. But to bring Obi-Wan up to the level you want to see, I am going to have to enjoy it. I am going to have to be a Chosk hunting hound, wearing him down, savoring his weakness and desperation as the end nears. I am going to have to be a Nightsister, not a Jedi."

"You take no pleasure in the fight? So then why the weapons, why the skills with them."

"Because they are mine!" Callera's voice echoes through the room, "During my time at the Shadow Academy, mastery of these blades was the only thing I was good at. Lomi Plo could drain power like no one else. Sahera could twist even the most resolute of Brakiss' dark knights with just a few words and the Force. I could use the ancient spells and make weapons that could withstand lightsabers. According to Tamith Kai and later the Witches from the Singing Mountain Clan maybe a handful Nightsisters or Witches a generation could work the waters of life this way, and I was a prodigy. If I am going to be able to bring these weapons to the field, then I am going to wield them properly to respect them and myself!"

Gathering herself after her impassioned words she glares at human Jedi in front of her, "You are asking me to cross that line to show you another Jedi is ready to be knighted, I will not!"

"And it's because you know there is a line, is why we are asking you to do it." Those words chill Callera's head of steam. "Out of everyone here at the Temple, you are the closest to his skill level with that kind of knowledge and a knowledge of where the line lays. The Council is asking you to go right up to that line and nothing more. But that will still push him in ways the Council feels like he has yet to be tested in his time as a Padawan."

Callera nods and takes a deep breath before nodding slowly. "Okay, I'll do it. Give me three hours and have him go to training arena 10. Only Ky'sa will be there, you all will watch from the holorecordings."

"Why only Healer Ky'sa?"

"Both Obi-Wan and I trust her, if I get too deep, she'll be able to pull me out. Or emergency patch jobs on Obi-Wan and I if this goes wrong. And if anyone else is there especially his master or the Council he will start thinking about it in terms of a test and his Trials.

Windu gives a slight head tilt in acknowledgement, "That does make sense. He will be there at that time."

"I'll be ready then Master Windu. I promise." Callera gives a deep bow before heading to the elevator and grabbing her com.

"Ky'sa do you know where there are some wraps and black makeup and body paints? Good bring them to my quarters. I'll tell you why then." If they wanted a Nightsister testing Obi-Wan they'd get it.

Obi-wan was puzzled by his Master's request to meditate in training room ten, every Jedi had there favorite spots to find peace and this was definitely not one of his Masters. His unease slowly shifts and his body starts tense, something is about to happen.

*snap-hiss*

That sound is his only warning as he dives into roll bringing his own lightsaber out and turns to face his attacker. Molten bronze blade is all he sees before he brings his lightsaber to is Callera, but it isn't. Her vest replaced with black chest wrappings matched with wrappings up her forearms, geometric black lines across her body, and the black around her eyes making her ice blue orbs glow.

'This is the Nightsister." Fleets through his brain as he keeps up the tempo to her strikes, she's not giving him a second to speak. So he doesn't, but he also knows he is going to lose if things stay this way. His stance shifts in one brief moment, allows for a better bladelock. He moves his blade to pull the lightsaber from her hand, and has to roll with it as a blade swings up in her off hand.

With the distance from the roll he settles himself

'Why is this happening?'

He shoves the thought aside as a second blade manifests in her main hand. And she pounces. Her bladework far more sure than her lightsaber, and far faster. She's pushing both their speeds to their limit. And he's losing. For each hit he blocks, she nics him twice. He can't keep up this pace of blocks.

So he doesn't.

He takes the nics and glancing blows as she keeps close, but every lethal blow and crippling blow is blocked.

That's his in, he just needs to endure, be more efficient and he can win this.

His robes slowly turning dark red from the onslaught.

Endure

He can't tell if her breathing is more ragged than his.

Endure

His body burning

Endure

"Enough!" Ky'sa's firm voice echoes in the room bringing the two to a halt. Callera's blades locked on Obi-wan's. "If this keeps up he'll die from blood loss even if he wins."

Obi-wan watches Callera's eyes come back into more focus with those words as she sags to the ground her blades dissipating as she does.

"Why Callera?!" His words wheezy and ragged.

"The Council wanted to see the Padawan who could beat Maul," her words just as rough, "so they asked me, his killer in the here and now to bring that out of you." Slowly gathering herself she stands up staring him right in the eyes as she places a hand on his cheek, feeling some of his scratches fade. "Finish your Trials and this pain will be a small price to pay." her sheer exhaustion evident

"Last Trial, that was Jedi Bladesinger." causes the Callera to stumble and shift away from Obi-Wan to see the Council and Qui-Gon had already made their way to the training room. "More formal we can be later, but for now get Jedi Kenobi to the medical wing. Otherwise shortest career of Jedi he may have."
