Seaford High, Yearbook Room

Friday, November 9th, 2012

Sloane has been staring at one picture on the computer for over five minutes now. She was supposed to be creating a page layout for the Homecoming section of the yearbook. Sloane was stuck on one picture that caused a feeling of unexplainable fondness. It was easily one of the most beautiful pictures she ever saw; Ana on the football field during the Homecoming court coronation. It was halftime at their Homecoming football game which was when they crowned the court. It was a closeup of the diva who had the biggest smile on her face. She opted to go with a short red spaghetti strap satin dress with the top half embroidered with rhinestones and had a sweetheart neckline. She swept her hair back in a low bun with a loose braid. She was easily the most beautiful one on the court.

If it wasn't for her yearbook obligations, Sloane would've passed on Homecoming. She's not a sports fan, doesn't care about school spirit, and dances weren't her thing. She didn't pick out her outfit until a week before at the insistence of Ana and Ro. The two girls got along great after their bonding of trying to throw Sloane a surprise birthday party. Both girls have bubbly personalities and a power to get Sloane to do what they want eight percent of the time. They fit better together than Sloane did with either of them. But Ana preferred hanging with the bitch squad so their paths rarely cross.

Just like how Ana and her rarely hung out now too, and it wasn't due to Sloane trying to distance herself from her. She quit doing that. It was from Ana forming her new life and seemingly forgetting about her best friend. The diva even decided to get ready for the dance at Grace's house with all the other girls instead of Sloane. Ana claimed that Grace invited both of them to her house but Sloane never got an invitation. Even if she did she would've declined.

Sloane did get an invitation from Ro about getting ready at her house before Remy came over but she declined. That was the night she was introducing Brad to her dad and aunt and even if it wasn't that wasn't her thing. But Ro did manage to twist her arm into agreeing to sleepover after the dance. After the introductions and dinner was done, Sloane entered the Homecoming dance in a slim fitting bodice black jumpsuit with thin spaghetti straps crossed down the back to tie. She'll admit the night wasn't as unbearable as she thought it would be but if she heard that insufferable song Call Me Maybe one more time she'll lose it.

She split her time between taking pictures and hanging out with Ro, Remy, and Brad. She even allowed herself to be pulled onto the dance floor by the duo because she knew they wouldn't stop pestering her until she did. Ana did manage to tear herself away from Brett and the others to talk to her for a short while. The diva expressed her disappointment that Sloane didn't get ready at Grace's house and Sloane bit back the truthful reply that Grace didn't invite her. The queen-bee-in-training will just excuse it away that she 'forgot' to and Ana would buy it. Sloane dreaded when a slow song inevitably came on and Brad asked her to dance. He hesitantly placed his hands on her waist, blushing madly while Sloane placed hers on his shoulders.

They swayed with the other couples to Bruno Mars crooning about the despair that will happen if he lost his lover. Sloane counted down the minutes, waiting impatiently for the song to end. Her eyes found Brett and Ana dancing with barely any distance between them. The two were clearly in their own little bubble, gazing dopily into the other's eyes with matching smitten smiles. When Brett leaned down to kiss Ana that was when Sloane had to look junior black belt just couldn't handle seeing them kissing and she didn't know why or she tried to pretend not knowing why.

Now the reason was stunningly clear; she was in love with Ana. What the hell is she supposed to do with that?

With Sloane being so wrapped up in her thoughts, she didn't hear Remy walking over to her, "That's a good picture."

The brunette jumped then whipped her head around to level Remy with a glare, " Remy don't fucking sneaking up on me." Sloane snapped

"Sorry, sorry." the buzzcut teen apologized with a chuckle as he sat in the seat next to her on her right

"For real. That's a good pic of your girl. She looks happy." Remy continued nodding his head towards the picture.

Sloane tensed at his choice of words, "Don't call her that."

"Okay then." Remy says, rolling with her bitchiness, "that's another good picture."

The picture he was referring to was a group picture of of a few upperclassmen girls posing for the camera,

"Is there a reason you're gracing me with your presence?" She usually wasn't this short with him but she was still feeling shaken up from thinking about Ana

"Yep. Ro is trying but failing to flirt with her crush again and it's pretty painful to watch."

"Wait what?"

"That hasn't come up yet? Oh well ever since eighth grade Ro's had a massive crush on Kandace." Remy nodded to where Ro was at

Sloane turned her head to seek Ro out. The tenth grader was leaning over one of the tables in front of a sitting Kandace. Sloane hasn't really talked to Kandace that much and was indifferent to her. The girl didn't talk much which was ironic since she was a writer slash reporter for the yearbook. Ro seemed to be doing her best to charm the other girl who was blushing.

"Why hasn't Ro just asked her out yet? She doesn't seem like the type that has trouble doing that?"

If she learned anything in her burgeoning friendship with the dancer it's that she's outgoing. She's not not afraid to go after what she wants even if she makes a complete fool of herself.

"Not usually but she makes a fool of herself when she's around Kandace," Remy shared, 'It's funny in a sad way."

She can't believe what she was hearing right now. She guesses she still had much to learn about the vivacious girl, "Huh."

Any more questions about Ro and Kandace were stopped when Rhyland made his way over, "What's up Rem Ram!"

Remy shot him a fake smile, "Still hate that nickname."

The senior ignored him, "Lolo." he greeted her with a smirk before pulling out the seat on Sloane's left but chose to sit in it backwards

She scowled at him, he knew how much she hated that nickname that Ro is determined to call her. "Hello," she replied after a glare

She likes Rhyland and it seems that pretty much everybody does as well. He had such an upbeat, warm personality that draws people to him. From what Sloane observed in her time with him because of yearbook obligations, Rhyland was the type of guy that'll talk to complete strangers as if he knows them their entire life. It seems like everyone knows who he is which makes sense since he is part of the Elite due to him being Katie's stepbrother.

"You almost done with the Homecoming layout?" He asked her

Sloane nodded, "Yeah I just inserted the last picture."

Rhyland leaned in to look at the computer screen. "Not bad, not bad at all Jennings. It looks good." Rhyland patted her shoulder causing Sloane to stiffen at the unexpected contact. She didn't like being touched unexpectedly or by strangers.

She forced herself to relax, "Thanks."

Rhyland seemed oblivious to her tense posture, "Yeah no prob. Now I can pass it off to Axl."

Ro walks over to the trio with her shoulders slumped. She dejectedly flopped down on Rhyland's lap and buried her face in his neck, "I hate everything."

Rhyland started rubbing her back, "Struck out again Lil B?"

The girl nodded, "Oh sweetie." Remy sympathetically cooed

"What is wrong with me? Why do I turn into an imbecile when I'm around her?" Ro bemoaned

"Because crushes makes you act like an idiot." Remy reasoned

"True that. I remember how I acted around Ashanti before we started dating." Rhyland mused then shivered

Remy laughed, "Oooh I remember Evelyn telling us you pretended to be a fan of Aaliyah but Ash realized you were faking it when you said you'd like to go see her concert someday."

That got Ro to start snickering and even Sloane smirked. Ana's older cousin is a huge Aaliyah fan while Ana doesn't care for her. With Ana being into Broadway and pop artists like Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars, and Beyonce.

Sloane had a feeling if they could see it, Rhyland would be blushing, "How was I supposed to know she was dead?" He grumbled

Sloane leveled him with a look, "A quick Google search would've told you that." Remy pointed to her in agreement

Ro removed her face from the senior's neck, "Not that making fun of Rhy isn't funny, because it is but this isn't helping me."

"Sorry." Remy apologized once he stopped laughing

Sloane turned her chair to face the tenth grader, "Why are you afraid to ask her out? That seems very unlike you. Kandace is just some girl."

Ro stared at her as if she's grown another head, "Kandace is not just some girl. She's the most perfect person that ever existed. She's smart, sweet, beautiful, and an amazing writer. I can't just go up to her and ask her out."

Sloane rolled her eyes, it was like hearing Ana gushing about Brett all over again. "Ok weirdo."

Joslyn straightened from where she stood talking to Ms. Applebaum at the teacher's desk, "Okay guys. We can pick this up next week."

Sloane saved the changes she made to the layout then exited out of it and logged off the computer. Once finished she pushed her chair back and stood.

Rhyland nudged Ro to get off him so she could stand, "C'mon Lil B, I'll get you a smoothie."

Remy jumped up from his seat, "Ooh I want one too!'

Rhyland shot him an unimpressed look before sighing, "Fine."

The quartet made their way out of the yearbook room and into the hall. Rhyland with his arm draped over Ro's shoulder and Remy next to Sloane, the latter two were walking behind the others.

Remy pumped his fist in the air triumphantly, "Yes!" he turned to look at Sloane, "you wanna come too Jennings?"

"No." was the freshman's blunt reply

Sloane had plans that included her couch, tv, and a bowl of chips. Preferably cheese and jalapeno popcorn since those were her favorites. If they don't have any left then she'll settle for Doritos.

"Okay well, later." Rhyland says and Ro turned around to wave goodbye

"Bye Lolo." Sloane wrinkled her nose in disgust at the nickname. Ro's lucky that she likes her for some odd reason or else she'll express violently just how much she hates that nickname

"See ya." Remy wiggled his fingers at her then sped up to stand on Ro's free side

With that the trio headed over to the front doors while Sloane went to her locker. She felt her phone buzz so she pulled it out of her pocket. She paused mid step when she saw the name; Brad. She's kind of been avoiding him after the Halloween party. Ever since her realization she realized it was kind of useless to be with him. She can't force herself to like him no matter how hard she tried. Brad was a good guy that liked her a lot and she couldn't reciprocate his feelings. Just like how Ana can't reciprocate hers. Just another thing that Brad and her had in common.

"Hey S!" An all to familiar voice called out.

Speak of the devil.

Sloane turned to see Ana smiling as she walked towards her. Sloane would've got lost in the bright smile on her best friend's face if she didn't see the person that Sloane was with. None other than the Ice Princess herself; Lyndsey Pryce. Judging from the scowl on her fellow brunette's lips, she wasn't happy seeing Sloane either. Sloane pocketed her phone.

"Ana," Sloane greets the diva once she is close. Sloane barely holds back an eye roll when she glances at the girl next to Ana, " Lyndsey."

"Sloane," Lyndsey replied back in a barely concealed distasteful tone,

Ana as always was either oblivious or ignored the obvious tension between the two brunettes' "Lynds and I were just talking about Grace's birthday party this weekend. She persuaded her parents into buying vervain necklaces for the partygoers!"

Sloane squinted in confusion, "Vervain necklaces?" As always she was completely lost to whatever Ana was talking about

"Yeah from The Vampire Diaries. The necklace Elena wears all the time? I showed you the show before remember?" Ana tries to reminds her in exasperation

Sloane shook her head, "No." Most of the time whenever Ana wants to show her shows that she loves Sloane tunes the show out and tries not to die of boredom. Though she does think she remembers Ana trying to explain the difference between Twilight and The Vampire Diaries because Sloane thought they were both the same

Lyndsey, obviously, didn't want to stand here any longer and wanted to make her exit. She turned towards Ana with a fake smile plastered on her lips, "Well I'm a go now. See you later Stass."

Ana frowns in disappointment, "Oh okay well bye," Lyndsey shot her a brief smile then took off and Ana watched her go

Once Lyndsey was gone Sloane crossed her arms and leveled her best friend with a look, "Stass?" she asked, disdain dripping from her voice

That caused Ana to perk up and she faced Sloane again, "Yeah! It's what the group calls me. Stass or Stassie. Isn't it great? I have a nickname!" Ana enthused, grinning like it was the best thing ever

No. Sloane didn't think that was great. She thinks it was stupid. Sloane starts walking again towards her locker, "I think Ana's better."

Ana rolled her eyes indulgently as she followed Sloane, "Of course you do, you came up with it."

Sloane shrugged, not able to deny that remark. That still doesn't mean she was going to let Ana know that she was right because just no. She was petty like that.

"So how was yearbook?"

"Good. I finished the Seaford on Parade page layout."

"Ooh please tell me I'm in a lot of the pics," Ana begged, grabbing onto Sloane's left wrist. Sloane, once again, tried her hardest to push away the feelings.

Sloane gently extracted her wrist, "Ana I couldn't have you in all four pages. The main people Joslyn wanted to highlight were the seniors."

Despite not looking at her best friend she knew that she was pouting. The brunette sighed, "But you are in some."

That quickly brightened the other girl's mood, "Really? How many? Are they good pics? How do I look? Can I see?"

Sloane chuckled at Ana's eagerness. It reminded her of a puppy. "Slow down, one question at a time." She finally reached her locker.

"I need all the details S. Don't hold out on me"

"I'm not sure I'm even supposed to talk about this. I think the Yearbook is supposed to be a surprise."

"I'm your best friend. I get passes for all things."

"Oh is that how it works?" Sloane asked dryly as she opened her locker

"Yes it is."

"From the amount of time you spend with Grace and the Ice Princess I would think they are your new best friends." Sloane says bitterly then mentally kicked herself. She didn't mean to say that.

There was a tense silence with Sloane staring intently into her locker at one of her notebooks before Ana asks, "What is that supposed to mean?"

Sloane internally debated if she wanted to open that can of worms before deciding fuck it. She was never the type to back down so why start now? "Exactly what I said. You spend most of your time with them and Brett. I hardly see you."

"That's not true."

"Really?" Sloane closed her locker to give Ana her full attention, " Okay when was the last time we hung out? Just the two of us for longer than ten minutes?"

"Lunch." Ana quickly retorted

"Those rarely happen and when they do you spend the majority of the time talking about the bitch squad or Brett."

Ana gaped, "No I don't!"

Sloane snorted, "So on lunch Monday you didn't spend the majority of it gushing about your date with Brett and how he took you to the Pier?"

"Well yes but-" Ana tried to defend herself but Sloane was on a roll. She's been holding this in for too long and wasn't about to be stopped

"Or remember when we had lunch two weeks ago because you were too busy sitting with your boy toy to sit with me? Yeah all you could talk about was how beautiful Grace's house was and how you can't belive you got to go over there."

Ana did an excellent fish impression as she floundered for an excuse, "Well- I- that's not-." she sputtered

Sloane nodded, "Yeah. That's what I thought."

Ana raised her hand to her mouth in shock when she took in all of the brunette's points. She met the other girl's gaze with her eyes full of remorse, "Oh my gosh S, I'm so sorry I didn't realize I've been such a terrible friend lately."

Sloane waved her off, "It's fine Ana. I didn't tell you this to make you feel bad," she paused, "well not entirely."

The diva shook her head in denial, "No it's not fine. It's awful and wrong and I was not upholding my bffl duties."

Sloane never liked dealing with an upset Ana so even though she confronted her about her behavior she couldn't stay mad too long.

"Ana that's not even a real wo-"

"I am going to change that right now. We're having an emergency sleepover. Today at my house."

Sloane sighed, "I don't have a choice in this do I?"

Ana shook her again with a saccharine sweet smile, "Nope."

"I thought so." So much for her tv and popcorn

Seaford High

Boys Locker Room

It was coming to the end of another crappy day. Milton just wanted to go home and look at old photos of him and Julie. On their second anniversary Julie gave him a scrapbook of memories of them. Now he can't stop himself from looking through it after their breakup. It was torture but he guess he was a masochist because he still found his hand flipping through the pages. Remembering the good times when Julie was still the sweet, awkward girl that he fell in love with.

"What the hell was that Foot? You were awful out there." Milton heard Kevin say from behind him

"Yeah for real, you barely kicked over twenty meters." Brett agreed

Milton turned around to give them an apologetic look, "I'm sorry, my head just- I got a lot on my mind."

Kevin was the captain of the football team and he didn't like him. That was putting it lightly, he seemed to have some personal vendetta against him. Maybe he was still mad about the whole party incident back in the summer of eighth grade. Milton will admit he got a little bit of a power kick when he was a bouncer and kinda acted like a jerk. When Kevin got in anyways Milton felt selfish satisfaction when Kevin got his butt kicked by Jack before being thrown out of their party. Though in their defense Kevin shouldn't have crashed their party and acted like a jerk.

He made it clear that he thought Milton didn't belong on the team and made it his mission to criticize everything he did. He reminded him of Albert in that sense the only difference was Albert criticized him under veils of 'niceness' and 'jokes'. Kevin didn't try to hide anything.

So foc course his apology wasn't enough for him, "Well unclear it because pulling stunts like that is what will cost us Divisions."

"Ok, I'll be better next practice. Sorry."

Kevin advanced towards him, "You better because if you're the reason we don't win, I swear I'll-"

"Hey! Kevin back off. Milton already said he's sorry and he'll do better, alright?" Brad spoke up as he walked over towards them

Kevin scoffed, "Whatever." but he still backed off. Brad was the most popular boy of ninth grade and a founder's kid so he held power that Kevin wished he had. Kevin may be a jerk but he knew when to pick his battles

"You okay dude?" Brad asked after Kevin left towards his gym locker

Milton nodded, "I'm fine. Thanks."

Now he gave Kevin ammo to continue his hatred for him. Fantastic. Milton huffed, that was just another crappy thing in Milton's continuous crappy life. He leaned forward to rest his head against the cool metal of his locker. He closed his eyes, trying to calm himself down.

Lately it just seemed like everything in Milton's life has just- for lack of better words- sucked. He's been making b's with some of them even low b's in class, Kevin has been up his butt, he failed to get his orange belt, and of course his breakup with Julie. He knows there's a definite correlation to most of his problems with his breakup. Despite how strained their relationship was in their last months together, he missed her so much. He missed her smile, her dorky laugh, the way she used to curl up next to him when they watch movies. The way her brows crinkled and how she bites her lip when trying to figure out a complicated equation. How she dances wildly when listening to her favorite singers. Just everything, really.

Only it doesn't seem like Julie missed him.

After breaking up with him, Julie instantly started acting as if he didn't exist. She ignored his every call and text and when they saw each other in the halls she looked the other way. She acted as if they were never in love or a two year relationship. As if they never had to face challenges together with her uncle Ty or the other Black Dragons. As if Milton never comforted her when she was upset about her parents being so far away and hardly calling. Or when the tables were reversed and she comforted him when he shared his feelings of inadequacy in the group. It was as if none of these moments that brought them closer together and strengthened them as a couple happened. As if they were never in love. How could she do that? How was that so easy for her?

"I swear next time I see Ashton I will punch that punk ass right in his face." Milton heard Kevin swear when he forced himself out of his thoughts and into the present

"Yeah and I'll be right behind you." Another football player backed him up

"Guys you can't do that." Brad chided them

"C'mon Wolfe. Him and his cronies ruined our float! Then on top of that they continue to walk around all cocky and superior."

Milton remembered the team and him walking onto the football during Seaford on Parade week to get their float only to find it completely damaged. With no float for the parade the team was forced to walk. During the parade Milton saw Ashton in the crows with his buddy Tanner and a few others watching them and laughing.

"Don't pretend like you cared about that damn float Kevin. Your lazy ass didn't even help make it." Brett reprimanded

Kevin ignored him, "The point is that they disrespected Seaford when they destroyed it. So they need to be put in their place."

"Wow, didn't know you knew how to use big words." Brett mocked

Brad was of course, against the idea, "Kevin we don't need to retaliate. It'll just make things worse."

Kevin huffed in annoyance, glaring at his fellow blonde, "Newsflash Wolfe we're at war with Creaton. We need to hit them back and hit them hard."

"So what do you think we should do?" A fellow football player asked

"We get personal and hit them where it hurts," Kevin began with a devious grin ad jumped onto one of the benches, ''wipe that smug grin off Ashton's face."

"Stop being vague and just say it." Brett urged

"We steal their prized championship trophy." The JV captain announced and the group broke into murmurs over the news

Brad stared at Kevin incredulously, "Are you of your mind?"

"Oh come on they stole our flag. It's only fair that we steal their trophy." Kevin argued

"That's completely different! The flag was ours!"

"Don't be such a buzzkill," Kevin turned away from Brad to face the other players, "who's with me? Who wants to show Creaton that is is whale country!"

"I'm with ya!" A football player shouted

"Me too cap!" Another agreed

"Creaton won't know what hit 'em!"

Kevin raised a fist in the air and started chanting, "Whales! Whales! Whales!"

The group joined in and began whooping and cheering, some even banging on the lockers. Brad sighed heavily with a shake of his head while Brett had a thoughtful look on his face. Milton doesn't know what made him do it. Maybe it was needing a distraction from his heartache or wanting to feel impulsive for once. Either way once the loudness died down, Milton blurted out.

"I'll join too."

Kevin turned around to face Milton, "Huh?"

"I'll help steal the trophy."

The JV captain eyed Milton up and down as if he was seeing him for the first time. He arched a brow in shock, "Really the little nerdy loser wants to break the rules? Who would've known."

"Don't be a dick Kevin." Brett chided

Kevin- as always- ignored him as she stared at Milton curiously, "Maybe there's more to your pasty ass than I thought."

Milton refrained from correcting him that he wasn't pasty, he was translucent. Instead he just nodded at Kevin. Ignoring the little voice in his head that was screaming at him he was making a huge mistake.

Weston Boulevard

Walters' Residence

A little over an hour later, Sloane found herself in Ana's room. After declaring that they needed a sleepover, Ana refused to listen to any of Sloane's reasons for why that wasn't necessary. Sloane, as always, caved in because Ana's stubbornness was rock solid. Ana demanded that Sloane spend the rest of the day with her but Sloane pointed out that if she doesn't head home she won't have her pj's, extra clothes, or her toothbrush. To rectify that Ana tells her to just call her dad and ask him to pack her overnight bag. Sloane- never being able to say no to her- obeyed because she's a whipped bitch.

Her dad gave her permission to stay over much to Sloane's disappointment. He also agreed to pack her an overnight bag and drop it over to Ana's house. Ana called her own parents and she was granted permission to let Sloane stay over. The next thing Sloane knew she was riding in a car with Ana and her mom heading towards the mall. Ana claimed she wanted to go to look for early Christmas presents but Sloane knew she was full of shit. Sure enough when they got to the mall Ana immediately headed over to multiple department stores and ended up buying outfits for herself. After Sloane made it subtly clear that she was bored out of her freaking out and sighed multiple times, Ana got the hint and they left for the food court.

Instead of gushing about the Elite and Brett, Ana filled her in about how the play was going instead. She talked about the costumes they were trying out, how some of the actors were weaker than others, and the choreography they were learning. The drama teacher, Ms. Evanheart, decided to let Smooth, a member of the dance team, choreograph their moves. Ana wasn't happy about that and believed the teacher should've chosen someone with more experience. For once she didn't dominate the entire conversation and asked Sloane what was going on in her life. Sloane shared about becoming an official black belt, finally dropping the junior. Then there was the upcoming karate competition, her aunt getting back together with her ex yet again, how Ro is determined to give her that horrible nickname Lolo, and the latest episode of Sons of Anarchy. After they were done with their meal Ana let Sloane choose where they were going to head to next. So of course she chose Hot Topic much to the diva's dismay.

When they were done with the mall Ana called her dad and they were driven to Ana's house. The diva had her shopping bags spread out on the floor and the smaller ones on her bed. She was trying to find extra spaces to put her new stuff away and Sloane watched her in amusement from where she sat on Ana's bed. The junior black belt hasn't been over Ana's house for quite some time and she quickly noticed the difference. Ana has fairy lights hung across from her bed and hung pictures on them with clothespins. The pictures used to be mostly of Sloane and her throughout the years. There were a few of Ana with family members or her performing in plays at the Civic Center.

Now the older pictures of Sloane and her were replaced with pictures of Brett and her. Brett and her at the Fall Festival, A selfie of Ana kissing Brett's cheek, photobooth strip of Brett and her at the Pier, Brett and her at Homecoming. That, surprisingly, wasn't even the worst, the worst was seeing pictures of Ana with the bitch squad. Ana with Grace and The Ice Princess at the Fall Festival. Ana again with the two plus with Katie at Ember's Halloween party. Yet another picture of Ana with Grace and Katie this time taking a selfie in a golf cart at the Country Club. A group picture of Ana with the other bitch squad girls at one of their houses on Homecoming. Gone were the pictures of Ana with family members to make room for pics of the bitch squad. The only old pictures that survived were pictures of her performances and her with Sloane.

All replaced to make room for the new important people in her life. The bitch squad.

Besides that her room was more or less the same. Same navy blue walls, blue and white duvet, white dresser drawers, white curtains, white uppercase cursive A hung on the wall above her bed. Her bay window had the same blue and white pillows and blue cushion.

"Ugh, seriously? Where did all my closet space go? I have like no place to put my new stuff." Ana whined as she looked through her closet

"Maybe that's because you already have enough stuff and didn't need these extra clothes like I told you before." Sloane unhelpfully remarked after she was finished observing Ana's room

Despite not looking at Ana, the brunette knew that the girl was giving her an annoyed look, "That's not very helpful S."

Sloane grabbed one of the smaller bags on the bed to look at the items inside. It was a bottle of perfume and some nail polish, "You should know by now I'm not a very helpful person."

"S!" Ana exclaimed

"Fine you me to be helpful? Take all this shit back." Sloane glanced up to the other girl to Ana glowering at her

Ana sniffed, lifting her nose in the air, "Fine, I don't want your version of 'helpfulness'."

Sloane grabbed another bag, this time it was from Forever 21. Inside was a pair of white leggings. "Fine by me."

Ana takes out a shirt from her closet, observes it then throws it on the floor. She grabbed another and repeated the steps, "So, how are things with you and Brad?"

Sloane internally sighs at the question. She shoves the leggings back in the bag, refusing to make eye contact with Ana, "Good."

"Good? Just good?" There disbelief in her voice was palpable

Sloane threw her hands up in frustration, "What do you want me to say?

"I don't know that it's amazing? Brad's the best boyfriend ever? You feel like your own cloud nine?"

Sloane gives her a look, "It's like you don't even know who I am."

Ana threw the clothes she had in her hand on the floor and walked towards her, "I know, I know you're all stoic and serious and non emotional but this is your first boyfriend! You're dating one of the most sweetest boys in our entire grade and I imagine he treats you like a princess. I don't know I thought you'll show at least some excitement or happiness."

Sloane bit the inside of her cheek to stop herself from replying to that. She can't say Ana the real reason why she's not jumping for joy about being with Brad. That the reason she's not oozing of happiness is because she doesn't like Brad that way no matter how hard she tries. That the person she really wants to be with is sitting right in front of her. She can't tell her that.

So instead she settles for, "It's really good okay?" she even forces a smile on her lips hoping it'll satisfy Ana

Ana still looks disappointed but Sloane doesn't wanna talk about it anymore, "Look enough girl talk okay? Let's just, try and find a place to put all your new shit."

The diva reluctantly agrees much to Sloane's relief, "Fine."

Bayview Mall

Falafel Phil's

"-she said that I was cute. Cute! She's totally feeling met!" Eddie exclaimed after he finished recapping his lunch with the Elite

As per usual the original Wasabi Warriors headed over to Falafel Phil's after fishing their karate session. Milton, unfortunately, had to miss today's session due to football practice but managed to still make it for their usual falafel. He sat next to Jerry with Kim and Jack across from them and Eddie sitting in a chair pulled up to their table.

"How'd she say it?" Jerry asked around a mouthful of falafel gaining looks of disgust from Kim and Milton

Eddie frowned in confusion, "Why does that matter?"

"Well there's different meanings when a girl calls you cute." Jack explained after taking a sip from his cup

"Seriously?" Eddie questioned with raised brows

"Yep. There's the ' wow you're like really cute'," Jerry pitched his voice higher to imitate a girlish voice, "then there's the 'aww you're so cute' it all depends on the tone." Jerry further explained earning a nod of agreement from Jack

"Wow Jerry you sound like you actually know what you're talking about for once." Kim teased

"Hey I know girls. Getting rejected by many taught me a lot."

"Now if only you can use that brain power for your schoolwork." Kim remarked and Milton nodded in agreement. Jerry looked down at his plate and quietly mimicked Kim

"So, Eddie?" Jack prompted unfazed by the two's bickering

"Um it was the second one." Eddie shared, Jack and Jerry winced

"That's the bad one." Jerry

"Yeah." Jack agreed

"Why is that bad?"

"That's the you're-so cute-like-a-puppy one." Jerry explained

Eddie looked at Kim for confirmation, "Really? Kim is that true?"

"Unfortunately these idiots are right." The blonde confirmed as she twirl her salad on her fork

Eddie's shoulders slumped, "Aww man." he buried his face onto his arms on the table

"See I'm a smart idiot!" Jerry boasted with a smug grin that slowly disappeared when he realized what he said, "wait." Kim and Jack snickered

Jack glances at Milton in slight concern, "You're unusually quiet Milton."

Milton took a bite of his shawarma and swallowed before answering, "Yeah I was just thinking."

Jerry pointed one of his fries at him, "Well stop, it makes you sad." he chastised

"Is that why you don't do it a lot?" Kim asked in a saccharine sweet voice

The dancer made a face at her, "Ha, ha. Todo el mundo es un comediante."

"About what?" Jack asked in a patient tone

Milton took another bite of his shawarma sandwich to prolong answering. He debated how much he wanted to share about Kevin's plan and his impulsive decision to be involved. He knew Jack would be completely against it and try to speak some sanity into him. As dumb as it sounds, he doesn't want to make a sane decision, he wants to be reckless for once.

He decided to answer vaguely, "The team. After Creaton messed up our float Kevin is out for blood."

Jack shook his head, "I still don't get the whole rivalry between us. I thought it was over."

"It was until Esme the bitch decided to have Katie sprain her ankle." Kim clarified, stabbing her salad violently and drawing fearful looks from the boys

"Even when it was supposedly over it was never really over." Milton says

Jerry stared at him in confusion, "Huh?"

"I mean just because the elaborate pranks has stopped doesn't mean the feeling of anger and superiority went away. At competitions and events there was still bitterness."

Milton remembered at one of his Science Olympiad competitions Creaton's team were hostile towards his team and him. Milton tried to be nice towards them but the team had an air of superiority and acted as if Seaford was gutter trash.

Kim shrugged, "Now that I think about it, you're not wrong."

"I still don't understand why this feud is even a thing. Of course I heard the backstory about stealing land for the school but that was years ago." Jack remarked

"Don't overthink it. It's just harmless fun. Something to keep school spirit up." Eddie advised him before stealing a fry of Jerry's plate

Kim glared at him, "Harmless fun? Do I need to repeat, Katie sprained her ankle?" she demanded causing the boy to shrink under her icy gaze

"Mostly harmless fun." Eddie weakly conceded with a nervous chuckle. He scooted his chair a little more towards Jerry and Milton's side

Jack dipped one of his falafel balls into his hummus then popped it into his mouth, "So what's Kevin's big plan?" he asked once he swallowed

"He's gonna steal their Championship trophy." Kim answered her boy then took a lop sip of her ice tea

At the guys surprised looks Kim explained, "Erica babbled to everyone at practice."

Jack scoffed, "That's so stupid."

"It's kind of badass." Eddie quietly argued, staring into his plate

Jack shot him a look, "No. It's illegal." he retorted

"Which makes it even more badass." Jerry says in a duh tone

Milton pulled his phone out of his pants pocket to check the time, it was a quarter to five. Kevin was supposed to come over to pick him up around seven thirtyish with Trent, a varsity football player, driving the getaway truck. That means he needs to finish his AP biology and Algebra homework before then. Thankfully when his mom dropped him off at the mall he told her to pick him back up twenty minutes before five so she was almost here.

Kim turned her body towards Jack to face him, "Did you not have school rivalries in Colorado?"

"We did but not to this extreme. It started and ended in trash talking."

"Booorrring." Jerry sang song

"Sorry guys but I'm a have to cut this short. I have homework that I haven't finished yet." Milton told the gang as he slid out of the booth

The gang shared looks of surprise before saying goodbye to him.

"Oh ok well bye."

"Bye Milton."

"Later Milton."

Milton waved goodbye then exited the restaurant.

Weston Boulevard

Walters' Residence

"Taylor Lautner is so hot! What I'd give to be his imprintee." Ana gushed, practically drooling over the shirtless boy on screen

"Keep it in your pants, Ana." Sloane chastised after taking a bite of one of the sugar cookies she baked with Ana

Ana halfheartedly swatted her on the shoulder, "Shut up."

After somehow managing to find spots to put away all of Ana's new shit, the next thing on Ana's to do list was face masks. Sloane put up a fight of course but ten minutes later she found herself in the living room next to Ana with a mask on her face. Grey's Anatomy was playing but neither of them were really paying attention to it. Once that was completed the next thing on Ana's agenda was pulling out the karaoke machine. This time Sloane stood firm on not singing and Ana eventually gave up. Sloane watched Ana perform song after song like it was a personal concert. They only stopped when Ana's mom told them to quiet down and suggested they make cookies. Ana of course jumped at the chance and Sloane followed as per usual.

Thirty minutes later when the cookies were in the oven, the two girls set up camp in the living room. Multiple blankets and pillows were placed on the living room floor for the two girls comfortness. The way they do movies was at one sleepover they watch movies Ana likes then the next movies Sloane likes. Only since it's been a while since they had a sleepover Ana decided that they take turns watching movies the other likes. Sloane plays one movie then once that finishes Ana puts on something she likes. After Insidious went off Ana put in Breaking Dawn Part 1 from the Twilight Saga because of course the girl was a fan of the series. Sparkly vampires, freakishly tall werewolves, and at the center of it is the most plainest girl of all time.

Sometimes it really is a wonder how the two of them are best friends.

"I can't believe the final movie is coming out next week! I'm not ready for it to end." Ana says, hugging her pillow to her chest. It was a Twilight throw pillow that Sloane got her for her birthday last year.

The brunette finished the last of her cookie, "Can't say the same."

"You just don't understand epic romance." Ana dismissed as she adjusted the blanket around her

Sloane snorted, "Yeah epic romance is an undead icicle that watches you sleep and wants to drain you dry."

"But his love for her overcomes that!" Ana exclaimed

Sloane reached for the plate of cookies next to her and grabbed another, "Yeah, love."

"You just don't understand love."

For reasons that Sloane couldn't comprehend, that felt like a punch to the gut. She doesn't understand love? She? Sloane Nicole Jennings? The same girl that spent months burying any and all confusing feelings she felt towards Ana in order to date Brad. The same girl that decided to give Brad a chance in the first place!

Sloane chewed a little aggressively on the cookie, "And you do?"

The girl in question shrugged, "I don't know. I like to think so. I think what I have with Brett is love."

Sloane's heart lurched and her brain blanked, unable to comprehend what was just said, "Seriously?"

Ana, as usual obvious to her friend's turmoil nodded, "Yeah I mean whenever I'm around him I get this warm, fuzzy feeling and when I'm not with him I miss him."

The brunette sat her cookie back down on the plate, no longer having the appetite for it. If anything her stomach felt heavy like rocks were in it, "I think love is more than that."

Sloane kept her gaze locked on the tv, unable to face Ana who she knows was looking at her. It was easier staring at the most angsty looking white guy kissing the most stoic looking white woman.

"Love isn't just feeling happy with them or missing them when they're gone," she gestures to the tv, "or obsessing over them and wanting to control their every move. love is doing whatever that person needs even when you don't want to. Is wanting them to be happy even if it hurts you in the process. And no matter what, wanting what's best for them."

There's a pause. Sloane didn't mean to pour her heart out like that and she knew she wasn't able to keep her voice monotone. She heard movement next to her and in the corner of her eye she saw that Ana pushed herself up to sit on her heels.

"Wow that was wow, when'd you learn so much about love?"

Sloane chuckles in embarrassment, "I'm just talking out of my ass. Don't take anything I say seriously. What do I know? I'm just a bitchy fifteen year old girl that hates almost everyone."

Ana grabbed Sloane's pale hands in hers. The latter couldn't stop herself from staring at their conjoined hands, "No that was really beautiful. Don't sell yourself short"

Sloane racked her brain for something to say and ignore the hammering of her heart in her chest, "This is a perfect time to make a short joke but I can't think of one."

Ana gave her an annoyed look and took her hands out of Sloane's,"You don't always have to do that."

Sloane tried to hide her disappointment at the move, "Do what?"

"Hide your emotions and vulnerability to ruin a moment."

The diva crossed her arms and lowered her gaze, "You don't have to be afraid to show that you actually have a heart underneath this cold act. Especially to me. You should know that by now."

"I do, of course I do," the brunette promises instantly feeling bad for hurting her, "it's just a force of habit I guess."

"I really am sorry," Sloane looks up in confusion, "for kinda abandoning you. I swear I didn't mean to. I just got so caught up in wanting them to like me and being with Brett that I-"

"It's fina Ana." Sloane interrupts her wanting to cut this emotional moment short because she is terrible in dealing with this

"You always wanted to be friends with the bitch squad. Of course you got caught up in all that, it's fine." She even smiles at the end to try and so how much she means it

"No it's not," the diva argued, "you're my best friend and I haven't been treating you like you are. As much as I want to be a part of their group I don't want to lose you in the process."

Sloane inhales a little sharply at the words, they meant more to her than Ana could ever know. Despite being best friends for almost a decade they never really had emotional heart to hearts. With Sloane not doing emotions and Ana got tired of her friend cutting emotional moments that she stopped trying and just rightfully assumes she'll always have Sloane with her. She never realized how much those words affected her and what they'd do to her. Despite her weird obsession with the bitch squad and her puppy love with Brett, Ana never wanted to lose her.

Ana stared imploringly into her eyes, "You mean so much to me."

Sloane just stared back in awe, dumbfounded on what to say. That was all she wanted to hear for the past six months. This moment can't be real, it was too similar to one of her many dreams she had. Ana finally realized that Brett wasn't worth it and the person she was meant to be with was right next to her the entire time. Ana pours her heart out Sloane then they kiss. She never really imagined what Ana's lips would taste like but the obvious choice was Ana's favorite strawberry fizz lip gloss. In her opinion it didn't taste that much like strawberry, just artificial sweetness but that could be ignored due to how soft her lips were. Soft and warm and it felt so realistic.

Sloane didn't notice her eyes were closed until she opened them to see Ana's shocked expression. Shit. It suddenly made sense why she could taste the lip gloss and feel Ana's lips. She actually...she actually kissed Ana! Fuck!

Sloane's heart beat so fast while her breath shortened she was sure she was about to have a panic attack. Her mouth suddenly felt dry and her eyes were so wide she was sure they were about to pop out of her skull. Her mind blanked on what to say, how to explain what just happened.

Ana beat her to it.

"I uh-I think I'm going to sleep in my room tonight." She quickly grabbed her pillow and stood up

"Wait Ana." Sloane says in a futile attempt to stop her but Ana didn't stop, she just rushed out of the living room

Shit.

Creaton High

Front of school

"I forgot how hideous this place is." Trent muttered as he pulled into Creaton's parking lot

"What do you expect? It's in the ghetto." Kevin replied back with a chuckle earning a look from Trent

Milton bit his tongue to stop himself from defending Creaton. It wasn't right to put down Creaton like that, they couldn't help that they weren't as financially fortunate as Seaford High. Creaton High was in the lower income area of Bay County, where the working class lived in. They're school obviously didn't look as nice as Seaford did and was smaller than theirs were. That didn't mean Seaford was better, the students were just financially fortunate.

After only managing to finish half of his homework Milton eventually gave up and spent the rest of his time stalking Julie's Facebook page. She wasted no time changing her status from in a relationship to single. To add more salt to the wound she deleted the photo album of her relationship with him. Just like that, gone. By the time he clawed his way out of another spiral he got a text from Kevin telling him he was on his way. His cover story for his parents was that he was leaving for an emergency student council meeting.

"This is going to be awesome." Kevin enthused

"Hell yeah! Let's shows those Creaton losers who's boss." Brett added

"Let's steal this trophy." Kevin says, unbuckling himself while the others started exiting the car

Milton sat on his hands to stop himself from wringing them. This was wrong, definitely wrong and like Jack pointed out at Falafel Phil's illegal. Yet he found himself sitting in the getaway car with five other football players. Maybe being impulsive won't be if it's a way to take his mind off of Julie. He's sick and tired of being seen as that straight laced nerd and he just wants to do something reckless. Something to take his mind off of the constant ache in his chest.

"U c'mon nerd? Don't tell me you're pussying out now." Kevin challenged

He knows the right answer; yes he is. Trent could drop him off at home and Milton would spend the rest of the night finishing his homework. Or looking through the scrapbook again.

But instead he boldly met Kevin's eyes and says, "No I'm not."

What's breaking and entering as a coping method to get over his ex?

So yeah that happened. Tell me what you think!
