The hangar was filled with an intense aura of adrenaline and rage. Both from Blackfire and Nightwing alike. As the starbolt that Blackfire had sent hurling at Red X got closer, X vanished just before it made contact with him.

The explosion from the starbolt kicked up dust and smoke in a large cloud that confused everyone. As the debris cleared and the dust settled everyone was shocked when X wasn't standing in the middle of it.

Blackfire's face now looked confused. Her eyes started to wander as she looked for where he target had gone to. Then she was struck with panic when a voice appeared behind her.

"That was a bit rude, don't you think?" The robotic voice said in a mocking tone.

Blackfire whipped around to see the masked vigilante standing behind her and she didn't even notice. It worried her. She knew he was dangerous in that moment and hovered over the railing to get some distance between him and herself, armed with glowing purple fists.

Rose had already jumped into action leaping over the rail with a sinister evil looking grin on her face. Her target was Nightwing and she couldn't wait to get started. She hit the ground hard and stood up lazily with a confident demeanor as she stared him down.

"Awww..." She mocked, "did you miss me that much, sweety?"

Nightwing's rage was boiling within him. He knew she was trying to get in his head but he wasn't going to let her get the better of him again. His eyes fixated on her with a scowl.

"Are you still mad that I dump-" Rose had her taunting cut short when Nightwing leapt into the air and came flying at Rose with devastating kick.

Rose dodged easily with a backflip, her sinister smile never leaving her face. she landed flawlessly with her feet together like a well trained acrobat.

"Awww... can't we just make up like long lost lov-" Her taunt was cut short yet again as Nightwing threw a barrage of explosives at her. He was wasting no time. Each strike was followed up with another and another.

The explosives detonated on the ground at her feet kicking up more smoke and dust leaving her blinded. He came rushing through the smoke with his battle staff fully extended swinging it like it was a perfected martial arts dance. Each end of the staff followed the other letting loose a wild windmill of strikes as Nightwing moved his body around the staff in a waltz.

Rose counter-danced around each strike without a care in the world before she drew her own battle staff and fully extended it, blocking Nightwing's strike pausing their battle for a moment and bringing their faces so close they could whisper to each other.

"You really don't want to talk do you?" She sneered at him.

"Nothing you say can possibly be good," Nightwing finally responded.

Hovering above their battle was Blackfire with two fists raised towards Red X. She began unleashing a flurry of starbolts at him trying to overwhelm him with power. But X had plenty of moves of his own thanks to his belt. He disappeared and reappeared over and over making the starbolts destroy everything around him.

"Why are you even here?!" Blackfire shout as she continued this game of whack-a-mole, "does my sister really mean that much to you?!"

Red X then disappeared and reappeared behind her again in mid-air. he was so close he was basically breathing down her neck. Blackfire felt a chill run up her spine as he whispered in her ear.

"I just know what I want," he said confidently.

Blackfire whipped around with a fist only to stirke air as X dissappeared yet again. She began looking around frantically for him. He was fast and strong. She felt like she didnt have the upper hand here.

A constant clanging of metal staves beneath her began to annoy her as she looked down to see Rose and Nightwing having a brawl of armed combat. As she continued to look around she couldn't see the mask marked with a Red X anywhere.

Rose threw a low strike with her staff at Nightwing's feet causing him to dodge with a backflip away from her creating distance between them. She looked at him with an even wider grin, confident she was winning their little bout.

Nightwing's face grew aggitated as he began to rush at her again. But before he knew it he was flying through the air from an explosion of purple beneath him. He let out a cry of pain as he went flying before hitting the ground hard and rolling to a stop at Rose's feet.

From his back he looked up to see Blackfire holding a fist pointed directly at him. Her fist held a faint trail of smoke from a recently dischraged starbolt.

Rose began laughing maniacally as she swung her staff over her head straight down at Nightwing's face.

Before the strike could knock him out he reverse-summersalted over his head to his feet. The blow was so close to landing on its mark that he could feel it brush the long hair on the back of his head as it passed him.

Rose's expression went from confident to panicked. She knew she was introuble and the adrenaline running through her body left everything in slow motion as she watched Nightwing dodge his attack and start to counter...

Her last attack left her wide open after he reached his feet and a vicious swing of his staff straight was aimed directly at the head of his opponent. A strike like this would knock even the most resilient enemy back into the stone age if it landed.

But a massive amount of pain began pulsing through Nightwing's entire body causing him to stop short and drop his staff. Bolts of electricity were discharging in every direction off of him and he didnt know why. When they finally stopped he fell to his knees and then slowly fell forward landing flat on his face in front of Rose.

Rose's eyes were wide with anticipation. She no idea what just happened but she breathed a sigh of relief and looked up at the floating Tamaranian above her.

"Nice move," she said snapping right back into her confident demeanor, "how'd you do that?" She asked confused.

"I didn't do anything..." Blackfire respond just as confused, rasing her hands and shoulders with a shrug. She hovered down to where the they were and began to investigate what happened.

Rose then looked back down at the defeated man in front of her. A small "X" was stuck to him right in the center of his back with a slight electrical pulse still radiating from it.

"Huh?" Rose said to herself with a puzzled look on her face. As she knelt down to get a closer look a voice above them echoed through the large hangar.

"Sorry, kid," Red X said from the railing above them, "but with you out of the way... she's all mine." With that he disappeared again.

Blackfire grit her teeth in a rage, "seize him!" She shouted to all the soldiers in the hangar.

All the soldiers began rushing through the halls trying to locate where this mysterious man just disappeared to.

"Oh... he's good," Rose said with a flirtatious grin, "I think I like him... I just might have take him for myself when this is over."

The look of lust on Rose's face made Blackfire sick. She reached down and picked up Nightwing and threw him over her shoulder like he weighed bothing at all.

"You are disgusting," Blackfire said with a sense of hostility to Rose.

"Aww..." Rose said with a sense of pride, dawning a wide smile on her face, "that's the nicest thing you've ever said to me."

"Ugh..." Blackfire groaned, "that wasn't a compliment," Nightwing moaned in pain on her shoulder indicating she'd better hurry, "for now, we better take this one to the brig. I'm sure a certain someone is worried sick about him right about now..."

"Well let's hurry up and get that over with," Rose shot back with a devilish grin, "I want to go find my next ex-boyfriend while he's still here."

Blackfire chuckled as the two of them began walking towards the hangar doors to the inside of the facility, "you have absolutely no taste in men."

The two of them continued laughing as they walked... But following closely behind in the shadows as they left was a Red X. He pulled out a small device from his belt and yet again he was following a tracer. This time he was sure it would lead him to his goal.

Starfire had her tongue in knots. She couldn't believe what she was seeing. Even more so... she couldnt believe the condition her brother was in. She wanted to cry for him but she held it back. She wanted to be strong for him.

"Ryand'r..." She choked on her words, "brother... I... You were..."

"Kori..." Ryand'r sounded like he was struggling to stay conscious, "please... water."

Starfire gasped. He was literally teetering on the brink of death. She wondered just how long they kept him like this. Just giving him barely enough to survive. She rushed to the massive door and began screaming.

"Someone!!! Please!!! I must have water!!!" She pounded on the door pleading with anyone on the outside to bring her water. The most basic need of any life form to survive. But her pleas were only met with silence.

She began to panic... if they didnt give her brother any water when he needed it... what was going to happen to her?

Is... is this my future as well?

"Kori..." the weak voice from the corner whispered.

"You must save your strength, brother," Starfire replied looked back at him, "I will get you assistance!"

"Forget it," Ryand'r respond. It seemed like he knew no help was coming.

"But I..." Starfire began only to fall short of completing her sentence. She knew hope was long gone for him. Nothing she could say would change his mind.

"I'm fine..." He whispered again.

Starfire couldnt help it. This was so cruel. Her own sister was even the cause of this. It broke her spirit. She walked back to the corner where her bother was and knelt next to him again.

"It's so cold," Ryand'r whispered softly.

Starfire grabbed her brother and leaned him up against her resting his head in her bosom like a mother comforting her child. He sighed with a sense of relief and melted into her arms.

"You're so warm," he said with a bit more strength.

"Save your strength," Starfire repeat herself.

"I'm... sorry... I couldn't... save... you." He struggled to complete the sentence like he was fighting the temptation to fall into a deep sleep.

"Shhhh," Starfire said softly as she began to rock back forth with him in her arms, "the fault is not yours. Our sister has been plotting against us."

"Komand'r..." He tried to continue.

"Yes," Starfire sobbed as she could no longer hold back the tears, "she... she has betrayed our family."

"No..." He said on the brink of passing out, "we... failed... her..." he then went silent and fell into a deep sleep in her arms.

Starfire gasped and looked down at her sleeping brother after hearing his last sentence. Was he saying this because he had been tortured for so long? Was he forced to believe that? How could he think that they failed her? If he believed that genuinely... what could he have meant by that?

After she thought about it for a long moment... It didn't matter to her. No matter how she looked at it... no matter what her motivations may have been... one thing was clear to her...

Blackfire betrayed her family.
