Starfire continued rocking back and forth gently holding her sleeping brother. Her tears continued to fall down her cheeks as she sobbed softly trying to not wake the tormented soul in her arms. She couldn't remember a time she felt this low. Even when she willingly gave herself up after her home had been destroyed by the Gordanians first invasion... she still didn't feel this way. Back then she was angry. So angry she busted out of her cell and made a break for it the first chance she got. But this time... she just felt... powerless? Helpless? She couldn't really find the word to describe how she felt...

Suddenly, her brother began to twitch in her arms. She looked down and his eyes jolted open. Immediately he recoiled from her arms and threw himself into the corner where he curled up in a defensive and submissive position like when she first found him. He began shaking with fear.

"Ryand'r?" Starfire said with a sense of confusion and worry. Her tears stopped in their tracks as she watched him panic.

He continued shaking in fear as he pushed himself even futher into the corner.

"They're coming," he whispered as if warning her to do the same.

Starfire looked back at the door. She floated over to it to peer out the glass and see what he meant. As she continued to observe, she held her breath and listened intently. Sure enough, she started to hear faint footsteps approaching. They were so quiet. She couldn't believe he could hear them at all. For him to be that observant of such a silent sound... he must have adapted his senses to prepare himself for the worst. It terrified her to think about what he could have gone through to trigger that kind of instinct.

The closer the footsteps got the better she could hear that there were two sets of healed boots hitting the ground indicating there was more than one person approaching. Then they came into view...

"Sister!" Blackfire mocked as she stood on the other side of the massive door, "I take it you've settled into your new home nicely? Doesn't feel just like Tamaran?" Her voice carried a hostile and crule tone.

Starfire's rage took control of her and her eyes began glowing green. It was as if Raven's dark side came poiring out of her.

"How could you do this to your family!" She screamed, "what actions could our brother have done to cause such cruel torment from his own sister!"

"We've been over this my sweet, innocent, dull sister," she emphasized the one insult to make her feelings clear, "he stole my throne." She said with a piercing glare and a tone to match. But then she tossed her head to the side with an entitled attitude, continuing as if it was obvious, "more than that really... It's not what you did that makes you desrve this punishment..." she then looked back at Starfire with an intense sense of resentment burning in her glare, "it's what you didn't do."

Starfire began floating a foot above the floor and starbolts appeared over her fists as she couldn't believe what she was hearing.

"NO PERSON WOULD DESERVE SUCH A PUNISHMENT FOR ANY KIND OF ACTION!" She yelled.

"Oh, please..." Blackfire said as if she felt no threat from the terrifying display her sister expressed.

She then grabbed the collar of the man she had tossed over her shoulder and lift him into the air infront of her like a small stuffed animal. Nightwings face was still unconscious as he moaned softly in pain. Rose then flicked her wrist to her side and a six inch blade shot out of the forearm of her armor and raised it slowly to the neck of the helpless Nightwing.

"Don't bother," Blackfire finished in a savage tone directed at Starfire.

Starfire's eyes immediately fade from their green glow and went wide in horror. She didn't even notice they had a hostage when they walked up. She was so comsumed by the emotions coursing through her about her bother and all her sister's evil deeds that it blinded her into a tunnel vision of hatred. She float back down to the floor and stepped caustiously towards the door as her eyes welled with new tears.

"Richard?" she cooed softly.

"Back up and don't try anything... or you can kiss Mr Perfect goodbye," Rose said in a sadistic tone. It was almost like she was begging Starfire to try something just to get an excuse to snuff a helpless life with a single flinch.

But Sarfire didn't even hear what she said. Just as she didn't notice him when they walked up, she was overwhelmed by emotion to focus on anything else.

When Rose didn't get a response her grin grew wider and she pressed the balde against the skin of Nightwing's jugular. A small amount of blood started to ooze from his neck on to the blade showing Rose was dead serious.

"No!" Starfire yelped helplessly, watching the small scratch draw blood, "do not harm him!" Her hands then folded together tightly infront of her heart as if begging Rose to stop.

"Back away, sister dear," Blackfire demanded in a stern and sarcastic voice.

Starfire slowly backed herself up until she hit the wall behind her where her bother continued to cower in the corner next to her. He almost didn't register to her as she never took her eyes off of Nightwing... The one who meant the most to her.

"Awwwww!" Rose said in disappointment. She slowly retract her blade from Nightwing's neck stepping infront of him and stared Starfire deep in the eyes, "I was hoping I could have had a little more fun with him..." she raised the blade, streaked with a line of Nightwing's blood, to her face and stuck her tongue out in a seductive manner. Her eyes never blinking and never leaving Starfire's gaze... while she licked the blood of her blade like a psychotic lover, "you never forget your first time..." She sounded like a siren trying to seduce a new victim into her clutches.

The door whirred and beeped before unlocking remotely and opening wide. Rose stepped aside and Blackfire threw the limp body of Nightwing into the center of the cell. Starfire sprang off the wall and caught him as his lifeless body fell into her arms. She looked back up at the door and watched it close once more hearing the massive locking mechanism ratchet back down into place. Her face baring the look of complete defeat and dispair as the tears were still clearly visible in her eyes. Blackfire grinned with pride as the door shut between them, drinking in the look on her sisters face like a refreshing beverage satisfying her parched thirst. When she had her fill, she turned to Rose who was enjoying the look on Blackfire's face...

"Stay here and guard them," Starfire barked orders to Rose, "I'm going back to the surveillance room to see if I can find where our other would-be rescuer snuck off too."

Rose scowled back at Blackfire with a pout, "don't forget, I called dibs on him," she said crossing her arms like an upset child.

"Right..." Blackfire rolled her eyes with a sense of annoyance. She turned her back to Rose and began making her way out of the brig, "I'll be sure to tell him that."

Starfire looked down at Nightwing and noticed the small X stuck in the center of his back still. She gasped and grabbed it. When she touched it, it jolted with electricy for a moment shocking her and causing a long painful groan from the man in her arms but she quickly removed it from him and when she did its powerful shock quickly stopped.

Nightwings face relaxed and he went silent again. Starfire sighed and looked closer at the small device. The red color and shape of the X was unmistakeable. This belonged to her prior savior.

"I'm going back to the surveillance room to see if I can find where our other would-be rescuer snuck off too."

Starfire recalled what her sister said. She immediately realized that Red X was here as well... and they haven't caught him yet.

If he was here with Richard... why would he attack him?

Her mind ran wild with questions. She new for a fact X was not an enemy. He saved her life. He clearly came here with Nightwing to save her again... So why was she holding her most cherished man unconscious in one hand with the device that knocked him out in the other hand? And why did that device belong to someone that resuced her before?

She began to grow angry with all the questions and confusion rattling her thoughts. She was about to crush the small device in her fist assuming he betrayed them just as her sister but then she noticed something with this device...

With a faint flash of red light... it blinked. Very slowly. After a long moment... it blinked again.

Starfire couldn't be sure but a glimpse of hope remained that maybe... just maybe... he was still on their side. Trying to find her.

But as she looked down at her beloved Richard who was clearly not well. Then over her shoulder at her brother who continued to shake in fear in his small sanctuary of a corner. Her hope was shattered. What could someone like Red X do to possibly make their situation better?

Everyone... even herself... Everyone in this cell gave her a feeling worse than she had ever experienced in her life. It dawned on her what this feeling was...

Starfire... The powerful, brave, courageous, most strong-willed woman of the Teen Titans felt something she has never felt before. She's felt dispair before. No... this was more than just dispair.

She felt completely broken.
