For Adrien Agreste, whenever he wants to get something done really badly or has a persistent goal in mind, he would do almost anything. Especially right now, right this second, his hands clasped together in a praying motion and his emerald greens pleading before a very curious and devious-looking Alya.
"So let me get this straight, you want me to tell you Marinette's ring size? Correct?" She repeated, her hazel eyes twinkling with amusement and her pretty lips upturned in a silly smirk. It took her everything to not whip out her phone just to record this moment but her blond friend was notorious for being a professional when it comes to avoiding cameras whenever he wants (she's seen him practically disappear into thin air a couple of times! He can be so elusive when he wants, just like a cat).
"That's right," Adrien even broke his lip into a pitiful pout, hoping it would persuade the ladyblogger even further.
"And...why is that?" As soon as the question left her mouth, the boy's cheeks took on an incredible red hue and he looked down to avert eye contact, putting both his pointer fingers together. He looked like an adorable kitten and it took Alya all the self-restraint in her body not to squeal like a fangirl and encase him in her arms in a crushing hug.
"I saw a really, really pretty ring at the shops the other day and instantly knew it would look so good on Marinette. As if it was made for her." He confessed, cheeks continuing to redden sweetly as he fidgeted on the spot. "I tried figuring it out myself by holding her hands more often and feeling her fingers but most of the time, it ends up spooking her and she runs away from me afterwards..." Just as soon as the despondency came, it was quick to disappear and be replaced with determination. "But even still! She deserves that pretty ring! I want her to know how important and special and amazing she is to me and this ring is just perfect!"
Alya was speechless for a moment, too many things going on all at once in her head until finally a very smug, mischievous expression plastered itself on her face and she didn't even bother in hiding it.
Her favourite ship was absolutely sailing.
"Her ring finger is around forty-five on the French chart. I think that's a 'G' on the English chart. And an 'F' would fit her too. And also, you absolutely have to show me the ring you're buying her~!"
"Perfect! I thought so too but I didn't want to make a mistake. Nothing would be more embarrassing than getting her a ring that doesn't fit, hahah! You're a lifesaver Alya!"
"I know I am~" Her restraints wore off instantly and Alya finally grabbed him in a hug, cackling from the way her sunshine boy yelped from her unexpected strength and allowing her to even mess up his hair. He was just way too adorable.

"I-I-I...I can't accept this!" Her harsh rejection was a huge blow to his heart and all that the distressed Adrien wanted to do was crawl under a hole and live there forever where nobody else can find him. Saving Paris be damned! The box with the beautiful ring felt like poisonous lead in the palm of his hand and his eyes stung, making them water.
"Why?" He questioned meekly, trying everything to keep his tears at bay and kick away the huge urge to transform and flee from the vicinity.
"It's just...Adrien, I'm not worthy of such a beautiful and expensive gift! I'm way too clumsy and forgetful and who knows, I'll probably end up losing the ring in a matter of seconds! You really shouldn't trust something precious with someone like me!" Her flustered answer brought back some of his hope and stomped away the biting dejection that brewed in the pit of his stomach. He swallowed harshly, eyes sharp with determination to prove to his beloved friend that she was so, so deserving of the world and the universe.
"But Marinette, you are worthy. You're more than worthy of a million of these rings!" He persisted, holding both of her hands with one of his against his pounding chest. He took in her stunned expression, her perfect, dewy lips shaping a little 'o' in surprise and sakura blooming in her cheeks which brought out the baby blue colour of her eyes. "I saw it and just had to get it for you as a token of how special and how much I appreciate you,"
"Adrien..."
"I'm not good at cooking or baking so I can't make you something nice to eat. I'm only good at drawing stick figures so I can't paint you a beautiful painting. I'm a terrible singer and struggle with composing music on the piano so I can't create the perfect song. And sewing machines have a literal vendetta against me so I can't create something wonderful either for you." His emeralds were pleading and soft, a warm smile on his face as he brought her closer. "So...please? Accept this, Marinette? You mean the world to me and this is just a fraction of what you deserve."
This time, he tucked a lock of hair behind her ear, finger then trailing down her cheek and cradling her soft jaw.
"O-Okay...only because it's from you, Adrien." Marinette relented, averting his gaze by flickering her eyes to the side shyly. She ended up looking back when he let out a delighted laugh, her heart beating even faster when he slipped the beautiful ring on her finger, on her left hand (her heart skipped way too many beats when she noted that it was the finger that was traditionally used for wedding bands). It was a delicate rose gold band with a gorgeous baby pink flower made of sparkling rosy gems and golden details. Méihuā- her favourite floral motif which she adored adding to her clothes and belongings and also her Chinese name. (Was...was he aware of this too?) It really looked so good on her hand too, glinting wonderfully under the sunlight, as if it really was made for her.
She really, really loves this ring.
"See? Perfect~" He chirped happily, bouncing on his heels excitedly as he observed her admiring his gift with a pleased grin. He was seconds away from purring in delight. "Do you like it?"
"I love it...it's the most beautiful thing anyone has ever given me. I'll treasure it all my life, Adrien." Marinette whispered, placing her ringed hand on her heart and her rosy lips melting into the most brilliant smile he's ever seen.
He did that.
He made his Princesse happy.
So, so happy.
He would have purred and mewled with joy had he had no restraint.
"I'm glad. I really am," He breathed and then just because it felt so right, he followed his instincts and pressed a tender, tender kiss on her cheek, so close to the corner of her lips and getting a fraction of sweetness from her gloss. "Thank you for accepting it, Marinette."
His smile widened when she placed a hand on the area he kissed, her cheeks getting brighter and brighter in colour. Yet, she also couldn't help but follow suit and return his smile with one of her own.
Sweet, sweet, sweet. He's so sweet.
