WHAT HAPPENED THAT NIGHT

Mary runs up the stairs and into Sam's nursery.

John gives baby Sam to Dean. "Take your brother outside as fast as you can! Now, Dean, go!" John tells Dean

Dean runs downstairs with Sam. John looks back.

WHAT THEY WITNESSED

Mary burns on the ceiling.

"Mary! No!" John screams.

John watches the nursery burn, Mary with it.

SENT TWO BROTHERS, AND LATER, THEIR YOUNGER TWIN SISTERS

December 24th, 1989

Maternal Unit, Hospital

Two couples this day were giving birth two sets of twins. John had remarried to a woman, Angel Gianna Winchester nee Williams (Mary look alike) for a short time and then Bobby Singer and his wife, Karen were there, John was expecting girls, Bobby and Karen, sons.

John's wife of two years delivered the twins, but she was a tiny thing and didn't survive the birth as she was injured by a Siren. John named his daughters Laila Melek Winchester (Willow Shields FC) and Lorelai Freyja Winchester (Sierra McCormick FC). Bobby's wife, Karen Singer had sons they named Hadraniel Seraphiel Singer (Timothee Chalamet FC) and Raziel Harahel Singer (Nick Jonas FC). They would grow and learn to hunt with their brothers for the Winchester sisters and with Ellen and Jo for the Singer boys' years after their mom die.

On Sylvania Bridge, Dean, Sam, Lei and I turn to face the onlookers.

In Sam's apartment, Dean speaks to Sam, Lei, Jess and me.

"Dad's on a hunting trip." Deano says.

Outside Contance's house, Dean and Lore fire through the Impala's window at Constance.

In Sam's bedroom, Sam pulls out his curved knife.

In Sam's apartment, Dean speaks to Sam, Jess, Lore and I.

"And he hasn't been home in a few days." Dean tells us Winchesters.

"Jess, excuse us." Sam tells Jess

ON A QUEST FOR ANSWERS 22 YEARS LATER FOR THE BROTHERS, 16 FOR THE SISTERS

In the stairwell from Sam's apartment, Sam speaks to Dean.

"I swore I was done hunting." Sam told Dean.

In the Impala, Constance tries to rip Sam's heart out.

"For good." Sam tells Dean.

"I can't do this without you." Dean says.

Blood drips on Sam's forehead and he flinches, opens his eyes, and gasps in horror. Jess is pinned to the ceiling, bleeding.

"No!" Sam shouts

Sam finishes loading a shotgun and tosses it in the Impala's trunk.

"We've got work to do."

In the Jericho County sheriff's office, the Sheriff throws down John's journal.

"This is Dad's single—" Dean starts to say. Dean holds Dad's journal out to Sam. "—most valuable possession—everything he knows about every evil thing is in here. And he's passed it on to us. I think he wants us to—" Dean continues on. "—pick up where he left off." Dean says.

Sam pulls Dean inside the motel room.

"You know, saving people." Dean says.

Sam, Dean, Lei and I guard Haley and Ben.

"Hunting things." Dean says.

Dean talks to Sam. "The family business." Dean says.

"No. I gotta find Jessica's killer." Sam tells Dean.

Sam approaches Jess's grave.

"It's the only thing I can think about." Sam tells Dean

Dean talks to Sam, both leaning on the Impala.

"Sam, Lore, Lei, you know we're gonna find Dad, right?" Dean asks us

Sam nods. "Yeah. I know." Sam says.

Lake Manitoc, Wisconsin - Day

Inside the Carlton House

Third Person POV

Will Carlton sits on the kitchen counter eating cereal, Bill Carlton at the table reading the newspaper. Sophie Carlton comes through the room.

Sophie kisses her father on the cheek. "Morning, Daddy." Sophie says.

"Morning, sweetheart." Bill tells Sophie.

Sophie goes to get something out of the refrigerator.

"All these workouts, Soph, I don't know. Guys don't like buff girls." Will says.

"Yeah, well, girls don't like guys who still live at home." Sophie tells her brother.

Will drains the milk from his cereal bowl and slides off the counter.

"Ha ha ha." Will sarcastically laughs.

"Ha ha." Sophie sarcastically laughs right back.

Sophie opens the door to leave.

"Be careful." Bill tells Sophie.

"I will." Sophie tells Bill.

Sophie closes the door.

Lake

Sophie stands on the dock, looking at the lake. Will watches from a distance as she dives in. She swims and comes up for air, looking around; she sees no one. She keeps swimming. She comes up for air again and looks around some more; still no one. Someone approaches her from underwater and pulls her under. Bubbles. Nothing.

Laila POV - Day

Outside the Restaurant

Motel

A truck goes past a neon sign that says Hotel, behind a building that says THE Lynnwood INN. The Impala is parked in front.

Inside the Restaurant

There is a mostly empty plate in front of Dean, who is circling obituaries in a newspaper while Lore and I are eating and Sam is texting Bobby, asking how the little ones are.

Dean circles an obituary that reads:

CARLTON, SOPHIE -The Carlton family is sad to announce the death of their beloved daughter in a tragic swimming accident. Sophie Carlton, 18, was having her [...] Lake Manitoc WI, an [...] suddenly [...]

An attractive waitress, whose nametag says Wendy, approaches.

"Can I get you anything else?" Wendy asks.

Dean looks up and grins around the pen he's chewing on.

Sam comes over and sits down.

"Just the check, please." Sam tells Wendy.

"Okay." Wendy says.

Wendy walks away. Dean drops his head, then looks at Sam.

"You know, Sam, we are allowed to have fun once in a while." Dean tells Sam.

Dean points to Wendy walking away; she's wearing short shorts.

"That's fun." Dean tells Sam.

"And end up with another kid?" Lore asks.

"You already have two daughters." I say.

Sam looks at him. Dean hands Sam the newspaper.

"Here, take a look at this, I think I got one. Lake Manitoc, Wisconsin. Last week Sophie Carlton, eighteen, walks into the lake, doesn't walk out. Authorities dragged the water; nothing. Sophie Carlton is the third Lake Manitoc drowning this year. None of the other bodies were found either. They had a funeral two days ago." Dean tells all of us.

"A funeral?" Sam asks.

"With no body?" Lore asks.

"Are you serious?" I question, never hearing of it before.

"Yeah, it's weird, they buried an empty coffin. For, uh, closure or whatever." Dean tells us.

"Closure? What closure? People don't just disappear, Dean. Other people just stop looking for them." Sam tells Dean and Lore and I face palm.

"Something you want to say to Lore, Lei, and me?" Dean asks.

"The trail for Dad. It's getting colder every day." Sam tells us.

"Exactly. So, what are we supposed to do?" Dean asks Sam

"Are we supposed to be bloodhounds?" Lore asks.

"Or see the future?" I ask.

"I don't know. Something. Anything." Sam tells us.

"You know what? I'm sick of this attitude. You don't think Lore, Lei, and I wanna find Dad as much as you do?" Dean asks Sam.

"Yeah, I know you do, it's just—" Sam starts to say.

"We're the ones that's been with him every single day for the past two years, while you've been off to college going to pep rallies. We will find Dad, but until then, we're gonna kill everything bad between here and there. Okay?" Dean says.

Sam rolls his eyes. Wendy walks by, distracting Dean, making Lore and I groan.

"All right, Lake Manitoc. Hey!" Sam says, getting Dean's attention.

Dean returns his attention to Sam. "Huh?" Dean asks Sam.

"How far?" Sam asks Dean.

Lake Manitoc

"Round and Round" by Ratt begins to play.

Road

The Impala passes a clothesline with white sheets.

Bridge

The Impala crosses a bridge and passes someone fishing off same.

Road

Round and round
With love we'll find a way
Just give it time

The Impala drives past a sign that reads "Welcome to Lake Manitoc WI."

Carlton House

The Impala pulls up in front of the Carlton house.

Round and round

The Impala's engine stops.

Dean knocks on the door. Will Carlton opens it.

"Will Carlton?" Dean asks.

"Yeah, that's right." Will tells Dean.

"I'm Agent Ford. This is Agent Hamill. Sorry we had to bring the boss' daughters, to show them the ropes." Dean says.

"Vesta and Juno Tudor." Lore tells Will.

"We're with the US Wildlife Service." Dean says.

Dean holds up an ID.

Lake

Bill Carlton is sitting on a bench on the dock. Will brings Sam, Dean, Lore, and I around to see him.

"She was about a hundred yards out." Will tells us. "That's where she got dragged down." Will says.

"And you're sure she didn't just drown?" Dean asks Will.

"Yeah. She was a varsity swimmer." Will tells us. "She practically grew up in that lake. She was as safe out there as in her own bathtub." Will says.

"So, no splashing? No signs of distress?" Sam asks Will.

"No, that's what I'm telling you." Will tells Sam.

"Did you see any shadows in the water? Maybe some dark shape breach the surface?" Sam asks Will.

"No. Again, she was really far out there." Will tells Sam.

"You ever see any strange tracks by the shoreline?" Dean asks Will.

"No, never. Why? Why, what do you think's out there?" Will asks us.

"We'll let you know as soon as we do." Dean tells Will. Dean heads back to the car.

"What about your father?" Sam asks Will

Dean stops and turns back.

"Can we talk to him?" Sam asks Will.

Will turns to look at Bill, then turns back. "Look, if you don't mind, I mean...he didn't see anything and he's kind of been through a lot." Will tells us.

"We understand." Sam tell Will.

Sam, Dean, Lore and I go to the car.

"I sense Death coming from the lake" Lore tells me.

"Yeah, even I can tell it's devoid of life." I agree with Lore.

Police Station

Sheriff Jake Devins talks to Sam, Dean, Lore and I.

"Now, I'm sorry, but why does the Wildlife Service care about an accidental drowning?" Sheriff Devins asks us.

"You sure it's accidental? Will Carlton saw something grab his sister." Sam asks Jake.

"Like what?" Devins asks us.

They walk into Jake's office. Jake motions to chairs in front of his desk.

"Here, sit, please. There are no indigenous carnivores in that lake." Jake tells us.

Sam and Dean sit.

"There's nothing even big enough to pull down a person, unless it was the Loch Ness Monster." Jake says, and I roll my eyes, reading.

"Yeah." Dean says as he laughs. "Right." Dean says.

Sam glances at Dean.

"Will Carlton was traumatized, and sometimes the mind plays tricks. Still—" Jake says just as Lore pops her bubblegum.

Jake sits down. "We dragged that entire lake. We even ran a sonar sweep, just to be sure, and there was nothing down there." Jake tells us.

"That's weird, though, I mean, that's, that's the third missing body this year." Dean tells Sheriff Devins.

"I know. These are people from my town. These are people I care about." Sheriff Devins says.

"I know." Dean tells the Sheriff.

"Anyway..." Devins says. Jake sighs. "All this...it won't be a problem much longer." Jake tells us.

"What do you mean?" Dean asks the Sheriff.

"Well, the dam, of course." Sheriff Jake says.

"Of course, the dam. It's, uh, it sprung a leak." Dean says.

"Still thinking of your daughters?" I say, making an excuse.

"It's falling apart, and the feds won't give us the grant to repair it, so they've opened the spillway. In another six months, there won't be much of a lake. There won't be much of a town, either. But as Federal Wildlife, you already knew that. But apparently it skipped your mind for a second. Kids huh?" Sheriff Jake says.

"Exactly." Dean says, blushing.

A young woman, Andrea Barr (Amy Acker), taps on the door.

"Sorry, am I interrupting?" Andrea asks us.

Sam, Dean, Lore and I stand up.

"I can come back later." Andrea says.

"Gentlemen, this is my daughter." Sheriff Devins says.

"It's a pleasure to meet you. I'm Dean." Dean tells Andrea. Dean shakes Andrea's hand.

"Andrea Barr. Hi." Andrea tells Dean.

"Hi." Dean says and Lore and I facepalm.

"They're from the Wildlife Service. About the lake." Jake tells his daughter.

"Oh." Andrea says.

A boy, Lucas Barr, walks in around Andrea.

"Oh, hey there. What's your name?" Dean asks the boy.

Lucas walks away without speaking. Andrea follows.

"His name is Lucas." Jake tells us, I go near Lucas

Lucas and Andrea are in the main room. Andrea gives him some crayons out of a box. I sit next to him, and introduce myself, telling him that should he need me or my siblings to help him or his family, we're always here to help. He gives me a smile.

"Is he okay?" Sam asks Jake.

"My grandson's been through a lot. We all have." Jake says. Jake stands and goes to the office door. "Well, if there's anything else I can do for you, please let me know." Jake tells us.

Dean, Sam, Lore, Jake, and I leave the office.

"Thanks. You know, now that you mentioned it, could you point us in the direction of a reasonably priced motel?" Dean asks them.

"Lakefront Motel. Go around the corner. It's about two blocks south." Andrea tells us.

"Two—would you mind showing us?" Dean asks Andrea.

Andrea laughs. "You want me to walk you two blocks?" Andrea asks Dean as Lore and I facepalm.

"Not if it's any trouble." Dean says.

"I'm headed that way anyway." Andrea tells us. Andrea turns to Jake. "I'll be back to pick up Lucas at three." Andrea tells her dad. Andrea turns to Lucas. "We'll go to the park, okay, sweetie?" Andrea promises Lucas. Andrea kisses Lucas on the head.

Dean waves as they leave. Jake nods.

"Thanks again." Sam tells Jake

Lore POV

Street

Andrea leads Dean, Sam, Laila, and I along the street.

"So, cute kid." Dean tells Andrea.

"Thanks." Andrea tells Dean.

We cross a street.

"Kids are the best, huh?" Dean asks Andrea.

Andrea glances at him and ignores him. We keep walking. We stop in front of a building that says LAKEFRONT MOTEL.

"There it is. Like I said, two blocks." Andrea tells us.

"Thanks." Sam tells Andrea.

Andrea addresses Dean.

"Must be hard, with your sense of direction, never being able to find your way to a decent pickup line." Andrea tells Dean.

"Oh, it's hard for him. But he's a dad to toddlers, daughters." I tell her.

Andrea leaves, calling back over her shoulder. "Enjoy your stay!" Andrea says

"'Kids are the best'? You don't even like kids." Sam says but then I step on Sam's toes and Laila elbows him in the gut.

"I love kids." Dean tells Sam

"Name three children that you even know." Sam says.

Dean thinks and comes up with more than three.

"Henry, Kate, Prim, Tori, Joan, Evan, and Alex." Dean says.

Sam sighs as he's beat and waves a hand and walks into the motel. Dean scratches his head, wondering why Sam's acting disappointed.

"What! I named more than three!" Dean tells Sam.

Motel Room

Sam is working on his laptop. Dean is going through his clothing, Laila is pranking Dean's Impala, and I put dye in Sam's shampoo.

"So, there's the three drowning victims this year." Sam tells us, Laila over the phone unknowingly for a few minutes. She sneaks back in the room

"Any before that?" Dean asks Sam.

"Uh, yeah." Sam tells Dean, Lei, and I.

Sam has a browser window open to The Lake Manitoc Tribune. DROWNING TAINTS ICE FISHING FESTIVAL. He clicks, and another browser window comes up, again the Tribune: 12-YEAR-OLD GIRL DROWNS IN LAKE, Second drowning in 6 months at Lake Manitoc

"Six more spread out over the past thirty-five years. Those bodies were never recovered either. If there is something out there, it's picking up its pace." Sam tells us.

Dean tosses an item of clothing onto a bed. "So, what, we got a lake monster on a binge?" Dean asks Sam.

"Or a ghost." I say.

"Or a water demon maybe." Laila says.

"This whole lake monster theory, it, it just bugs me." Sam tells Dean.

Dean comes over to read over Sam's shoulder. "Why?" Dean asks Sam.

"Loch Ness, uh, Lake Champlain, there are literally hundreds of eyewitness accounts, but here, almost nothing." Sam tells us.

Sam looks at the Tribune homepage. "Whatever it is out there, no one's living to talk about it." Sam says. Sam scrolls to the comments section of an article. Dean points at it.

"Wait, Barr, Christopher Barr. Where have I heard that name before?" Dean asks Sam.

Sam reads from the page. "Christopher Barr, the victim in May." Sam says. Sam clicks a link, opening a new page. LOCAL MAN IN TRAGIC ACCIDENT. The picture loads: it shows a police officer with Lucas.

"Oh. Christopher Barr was Andrea's husband, Lucas's father. Apparently, he took Lucas out swimming. Lucas was on a floating wooden platform when Chris drowned. Two hours before the kid got rescued." Sam tells us, and Laila goes to run to Lucas' side, should the monster be after him.

Sam clicks the picture for a better look, then scratches his head. "Maybe we have an eyewitness after all." Sam says.

"No wonder that kid was so freaked out. Watching one of your parents die isn't something you just get over." Dean tells Sam.

We hear a knock, Harry and Razi at the other end of the door, coming to help with the case.

Park

Kids are laughing and playing. Andrea sits on a bench and watches Lucas, who is at another bench coloring and playing with toy soldiers.

"Can we join you?" Sam asks Andrea

Andrea looks up. Sam, Dean, Lei, Harry, Razi, and I are here.

"I'm here with my son." Andrea says.

Dean looks over at Lucas. "Oh. Mind if I say hi?" Dean asks Andi, Laila following him. Dean goes over to Lucas.

"Tell your friend this whole Jerry Maguire thing is not gonna work on me." Andrea tells us.

Sam sits next to Andrea.

"I don't think that's what this is about." Sam says.

"He did just find out he was a father, the mother dumping the toddlers on him, so maybe he wants to learn." I stick up for my brother.

Dean approaches Lucas, Laila on the other side with her sketchpad.

"How's it going?" Dean asks Lucas. Dean kneels down next to the bench where Lucas is coloring; when Lucas doesn't even look up, Dean picks up one of the toy soldiers.

"Oh, I used to love these things." Dean tells Lucas, and I see Laila roll her eyes as she always favored an angel figurine.

Dean imitates guns and explosions, then tosses the toy soldier down.

"So, crayons are more your thing? That's cool. Chicks dig artists." Dean tells Lucas and Laila smacks Dean upside his head.

Lucas has a pile of drawings on the bench. Dean and Laila take a look. The top one is of a big black swirl; the second one is of a red bicycle.

"Hey, these are pretty good. You mind if I sit and draw with you for a while?" Dean says the first part then asks Lucas the second.

Dean picks up a crayon, meanwhile Laila is already drawing.

"I'm not so bad myself." Dean tells Lucas and I snort at that.

Dean sits on the bench, picks up a pad of paper, and starts drawing. "You know, I'm thinking you can hear me, you just don't want to talk. I don't know exactly what happened to your dad, but I know it was something real bad. I think I know how you feel. When I was your age, I saw something." Dean tells Lucas.

Silence.

"Anyway. Well, maybe you don't think anyone will listen to you, or, uh...or believe you. I want you to know that I will. You don't even have to say anything. You could draw me a picture about what you saw that day, with your dad, on the lake. Okay, no problem. This is for you." Dean tells Lucas.

Dean holds out to Lucas the picture he drew. It's stick figures. "This is my family." Dean tells Lucas. Dean points at each person in turn.

"That's my dad. That's my mom, that's my stepmom. That's my artistic book obsessed sister. That's my music obsessed sister. That's my geek brother, and that's me." Dean tells Lucas. But Laila gives him another drawing, of dad shooting, Dean hunting, Sam reading, Hadraniel wielding a spear, Raziel wielding a sword, Laila wielding her bow, and me, wielding my sword, and our mothers watching over us from Heaven.

A pause.

"All right, so I'm a sucky artist. I'll see you around, Lucas." Dean tells Lucas.

Dean and Laila come back to Sam, Andrea, and I. Lucas picks up the pictures.

Dean and Laila approach Andrea, Sam, and I.

"Lucas hasn't said a word, not even to me. Not since his dad's accident." Andrea tells us.

"Yeah, we heard. Sorry." Dean tells Andrea.

Andrea nods.

"What are the doctors saying?" Sam asks Andrea

"That it's a kind of post-traumatic stress." Andrea tells us.

"That can't be easy. For either of you." Sam tells Andrea.

"We moved in with my dad. He helps out a lot. It's just...when I think about what Lucas went through, what he saw..." Andrea says.

A pause.

"Kids are strong. You'd be surprised what they can deal with." Dean tells Andrea

Lucas leaves the bench, heading for the group.

"You know, he used to have such life. He was hard to keep up with, to tell you the truth. Now he just sits there. Drawing those pictures, playing with those army men. I just wish—" Andrea says.

Lucas walks up, carrying a picture.

"Hey sweetie." Andrea says to Lucas.

Lucas hands Dean the picture.

"Thanks. Thanks, Lucas." Dean tells Lucas.

It's a picture of the Carlton house.

Lucas heads back to the bench.

Third Person POV

Carlton House

Bill is sitting in a chair, doing nothing. Will approaches. "Hey, Dad? You, you should probably eat something. I'm gonna make some dinner, okay?" Will tells his dad.

Bill says nothing and turns his head away.

Kitchen

Will washes a fish at the sink. He does not turn the water off when he begins cutting up the fish. The water turns brown. Will notices and shuts off the water. Black water comes up through the drain and fills the sink. Will rolls up his sleeve to pull the plug out of the drain. He comes up with the plug, but the water doesn't drain. He sticks his arm back in the water, and something grabs it, pulling him into the sink. He drowns. The water drains.

Motel

Dean is inside the motel room sitting on a bed. Sam opens the door and comes in, Laila comes from the bathroom as it's not her things pranked, she showered and dressed and the bathroom. I practice on my violin. Harry and Razi are in their room, taking turns in the shower as when they come in the room, their hairs wet.

"So, I think it's safe to say we can rule out Nessie." Sam says.

"What do you mean?" Dean asks Sam.

Sam sits next to Dean. "I just drove past the Carlton house. There was an ambulance there. Will Carlton is dead." Sam tells us.

"He drowned?" Dean asks Sam.

"Yep. In the sink." Sam tells Dean as he's trying not to focus on the fact that ther are two couples in the room and I roll my eyes at that.

"What the hell? So, you're right, this isn't a creature. We're dealing with something else." Dean tells Sam.

"Yeah, but what?" Sam asks Dean.

"We're right here you know!" Laila says after she chucks her boot at Sam.

"Nice going Sam." Harry says.

"Jerk." Razi says.

"We're not invisible!" I tell my brother.

"I don't know. Water wraith, maybe? Some kind of demon? I mean, something that controls water...water that comes from the same source. And good going Sammy." Dean tells Sam.

"The lake." Sam says, avoiding the four glares he's getting his way.

"Yeah." Dean tells Sam.

"Which would explain why it's upping the body count. The lake is draining. It'll be dry in a few months. Whatever this thing is, whatever it wants, it's running out of time." Sam tells us.

"And if it can get through the pipes, it can get to anyone, almost anywhere." Dean says. Dean stands up. "This is gonna happen again soon." Dean says. Dean sits down on a chair.

"And we do know one other thing for sure. We know this has got something to do with Bill Carlton." Sam tells us.

"Yeah, it took both his kids." Dean says.

"And I've been asking around. Lucas's dad, Chris—Bill Carlton's godson." Sam says.

"Let's go pay Mr. Carlton a visit." Dean says.

"I'll ride with Harry." Lei says.

"I'll ride with Razi." I say.

Lake

Bill Carlton is sitting on the bench on the dock.

"Mr. Carlton?" Sam asks.

Bill looks up. Sam, Dean, Lei, Harry, Razi, and I approach.

"We'd like to ask you a few questions, if you don't mind." Sam tells Bill.

"We're from the, the Department—" Dean starts to say.

"I don't care who you're with. I've answered enough questions today. " Bill tells us.

"Your son said he saw something in that lake. What about you? You ever see anything out there? Mr. Carlton, Sophie's drowning and Will's death—we think there might be a connection to you or your family." Sam tells Bill.

"My children are gone. It's...it's worse than dying. Go away. Please." Bill tells us.

Sam, Dean, Harry, Razi, Lei, and I head back to the cars.

"What do you think?" Sam asks us.

"Aw, I think the poor guy's been through hell. I also think he's not telling us something." Dean tells Sam.

"He's definitely hiding something." Laila says.

"I agree." I tell Dean and Sam.

"We agree with the girls." Harry and Razi say.

Sam leans on the Impala. "So now what?" Sam asks us.

Dean goes still.

"What is it?" Sam asks Dean but Laila is already thinking along the same lines.

"Huh." Dean says. Dean is looking at the Carlton house.

"Maybe Bill's not the only one who knows something." Dean says. Dean pulls out the picture Lucas brought him, which is of the Carlton house. Dean looks at us.

Laila POV

Devins/Barr House

"I'm sorry, but I don't think it's a good idea." Andrea says.

"I just need to talk to him." Dean tells Andrea.

Sam, Dean, Harry, Razi, Lore, and I are inside Andrea's house, talking to her.

"Just for a few minutes." Dean tells Andrea.

"He won't say anything. What good's it gonna do?" Andrea asks us.

"Andrea, we think more people might get hurt. We think something's happening out there." Sam tells Andrea.

"My husband, the others, they just drowned. That's all." Andrea tells us.

"If that's what you really believe, then we'll go. But if you think there's even a possibility that something else could be going on here, please let me talk to your son." Dean tells Andrea.

Lucas's Bedroom – Day

Lucas is coloring, toy soldiers standing around him. Dean, Andrea, Lore, Harry, Sam, Razi, and I approach the doorway. Dean enters and crouches down by Lucas.

"Hey, Lucas. You remember me?" Dean asks Lucas.

Lucas has drawn two more pictures of a red bicycle.

"You know, I, uh, I wanted to thank you for that last drawing. But the thing is, I need your help again." Dean tells Lucas.

Lucas is drawing a person in water. Dean opens the house picture and puts it down in front of Lucas.

"How did you know to draw this? Did you know something bad was gonna happen? Maybe you could nod yes or no for me." Dean asks Lucas the first two then says the third.

Lucas keeps coloring.

"You're scared. It's okay. I understand. See, when I was your age, I saw something real bad happen to my mom, and I was scared, too. I didn't feel like talking, just like you. But see, my mom—I know she wanted me to be brave. I think about that every day. And I do my best to be brave. And maybe, your dad wants you to be brave too." Dean tells Lucas.

Lucas drops his crayon and looks up at Dean. He hands Dean a picture of a white church, a yellow house, and a boy with a blue baseball cap and red bicycle in front of a wooden fence.

"Thanks, Lucas." Dean tells Lucas.

Billy Squier's "Too Daze Gone" starts to play.

Walking through the streets just the other day

Impala

Dean and Sam are in the Impala, in the front. Lore and I are in the back as Harry and Razi had to go alone for a bit, plus Dean had us get in the impala since he didn't want no "funny business". Sam holding the church picture.

Movin'

"Andrea said the kid never drew like that till his dad died." Dean told us.

"There are cases—going through a traumatic experience could make people more sensitive to premonitions, psychic tendencies." Sam tells Dean

"Whatever's out there, what if Lucas is tapping into it somehow? I mean, it's only a matter of time before somebody else drowns, so if you got a better lead, please." Dean tells Sam.

"All right, we got another house to find." Sam tells Dean.

"The only problem is there's about a thousand yellow two-stories in this county alone." Dean tells us.

Sam looks at the picture. "See this church? I bet there's less than a thousand of those around here." Sam tells us.

"Oh, College Boy thinks he's so smart." Dean tells Sam.

Too daze gone
I'm broke down, insufferable
My mind is on the blink

"You know, um..." Sam starts to say.

It's later than you think

"What you said about Mom..." Sam tells Dean.

And I'm too daze gone

"You never told me that before." Sam tells Dean.

"It's no big deal." Dean tells Sam.

Went to see a friend just the other day

"Oh God, we're not gonna have to hug or anything, are we?" Dean asks Sam.

Movin'

Church

Sam, Dean, Harry, Razi, Lore, and I approach a white church shaped like the one in Lucas's picture. Dean holds up the picture and looks at it, comparing it to the scene in front of him; there's a yellow house next to the church and a wooden fence near the house. Sam looks at Dean. They both look up at the church and cross the street to the house.

Sweeney House

"We're sorry to bother you, ma'am—" Dean tells Mrs. Sweeney

Dean, Sam Razi, Harry, Lorelai, and I are inside the house, speaking to an old woman, Mrs. Sweeney.

"—but does a little boy live here, by chance? He might wear a blue ball cap, has a red bicycle." Dean asks Mrs. Sweeney.

"No sir. Not for a very long time. Peter's been gone for thirty-five years now." Mrs. Sweeney tells us. There's a picture of Peter on the side table. Mrs. Sweeney sighs. "The police never—I never had any idea what happened. He just disappeared." Mrs. Sweeney says.

Sam points out to us a number of toy soldiers on a table.

"Losing him—you know, it's...it's worse than dying." Mrs. Sweeney says.

Dean glances at us. "Did he disappear from here? I mean, from this house?" Dean asks Mrs. Sweeney.

"He was supposed to ride his bike straight home after school, and he never showed up." Mrs. Sweeney says.

Dean picks a picture off the mirror. There are two boys in the picture, one Peter with a bicycle. Dean reads from the back of the picture.

"Peter Sweeney and Billy Carlton, nineteen seventy." Dean says.

Lake

Bill is sitting on the bench on the dock, talking to himself, or to the lake. "You've taken everything, everyone. I've got nothing left. I didn't understand. I didn't believe. Now I think I do. I think I finally know what you want." Bill tells the lake.

Impala

Dean is driving, and Sam in the passenger seat, while me and Lore have to wait in the back yet again.

"Okay, this little boy Peter Sweeney vanishes, and this is all connected to Bill Carlton somehow." Sam says.

"Yeah, Bill sure as hell seems to be hiding something, huh?: Dean asks us.

"Told ya." Lore and I say.

"And Bill, the people he loves, they're all getting punished." Sam tells us, I put my ipod earphones in, then take one out while I listen to a song.

Hold up, no you didn't bow, bow

I ain't the chick to walk behind you around town

Just cause you're packin', packin', whoop, down south

That don't mean I'm ever gonna take it laying down, baby

Oh, I'm a machine when I do it

I'll be catching fire, gasoline when I do it

Just cause you're packin', packin', whoop, down south

That don't mean I'm ever gonna take it laying down, baby

You're the man, but I got the, I got the, I got the power

You make rain, but I'll make it, I'll make it, I'll make it shower

You should know, I'm the one who's in control

I'll let you come take the wheel, as long as you don't forget

Who got the power

I got the, I got the power

I got the, I got the power

I got the, I got the power

Hold up!

My turn

I make this look easy, tick tick boom like gasoline-y

Yeah, they call me Lamborghini, 'cause I know just what I'm worth

Zero to hundred, b-b-body make' em stutter

Start my engine, push the button, 'cause I'm gon' be coming first

Oh, I'm a machine when I do it

I'll be catching fire, gasoline when I do it

Just cause you're packin', packin', whoop, down south

That don't mean I'm ever gonna take it laying down, baby

You're the man, but I got the, I got the, I got the power

You make rain, but I'll make it, I'll make it, I'll make it shower

You should know, I'm the one who's in control

I'll let you come take the wheel, as long as you don't forget

Who got the power

I got the, I got the power

I got the, I got the power

I got the, I got the power

I got the

Who got the power

I got the, I got the power

I got the, I got the power

I got the, I got the power

I got the

Hold up!

When them boys talk loose and tell you power's for a king (huh?)

You just play it cool and tell 'em power's not a thing (what?)

You look him in the eye and say, "I know I'm not a guy

But see there's power in my losses and there's power in my wins"

Independent woman, look to shower in your Bimms

They call me cocoa but I'm mad, you can't be powderin' my skin

And you don't need to spend another hour in the gym

You know I'm blinded by his grace but when you found me I was dim

And we'll be countin' down the years, yeah I'm about this

All them dirty secrets that we share, I'll clear the browsers

We the type to build on our careers and share the houses

You can be a woman and a boss and wear the trousers at the same time

You should know

That I ain't never lettin' go

But as long as I'm alive, then I'll be sponsorin' your pride

You know there's power in a couple, let me compliment your vibe, yo

You're the man, but I got the, I got the, I got the power

You make rain, but I'll make it, I'll make it, I'll make it shower

You should know, I'm the one who's in control

I'll let you come take the wheel, as long as you don't forget

I got the, I got the power

I got the, I got the power

I got the, I got the power

Cause I got, I got, I got the power

Oh yeah, yeah, yeah

I got the, I got the power

I got the, I got the power

I got the, I got the power

Baby don't forget I got the power, yeah

The power, yeah, yeah-eh

Motorbike, motorbike, motorbike, motorbike

Bike, bike, bike, bike

Bike, bike, bike, bike, bike, bike, whoop

"So, what if Bill did something to Peter?" Dean asks us.

"What if Bill killed him?" Sam asks Dean.

"Peter's spirit would be furious. It'd want revenge. It's possible." Dean says.

Carlton House

The Impala pulls up in front of the Carlton house. Sam, Dean, Lore, Harry, Razi and I approach the house.

"Mr. Carlton?" Sam calls out.

An engine roars.

Lore POV

Lake

Sam, Dean, Razi, Harry, Laila, and I go around the house to see Bill going out on the lake in his boat.

"Hey, check it out." Dean tells us.

We run to the end of the dock, yelling.

"Mr. Carlton! You need to come back! Come out of the water! Turn the boat around!" Dean tells him.

"Mr. Carlton!" Sam calls him.

"Bill!" I call him.

Mr. Carlton! Don't do this!" Laila says.

"Bill!" Harry and Razi call him.

Bill ignores us and keeps going. The water rises up and flips Bill's boat over. It and he vanish.

Police Station

Lucas is sitting in a chair, rocking back and forth. Andrea is sitting next to him, holding a paper bag and a plastic container.

"Baby, what's wrong?" Andrea asks Lucas.

Sam, Dean, Harry, Razi, Lei, Sheriff Jake Devins, and I walk in the door. Andrea looks over.

"Sam, Dean, Hadraniel, Raziel, Lorelai, Laila." Andrea says. Andrea stands up, putting the bag and container on her chair. "I didn't expect to see you here." Andrea tells us, Lei and I have tears in our eyes.

"So now you're on a first-name basis. What are you doing here?" Jake asks Andrea.

"I brought you dinner." Andrea tells her dad.

"I'm sorry, sweetheart, I don't really have the time." Jake tells Andrea.

"I heard about Bill Carlton. Is it true? Is something going on with the lake?" Andrea asks her dad.

"Right now, we don't know what the truth is. But I think it might be better if you and Lucas went on home." Jake tells Andrea.

Lucas looks up and whines, looking stricken; he jumps up and grabs Dean's and Laila's arms.

"Lucas, hey, what is it?" Dean asks Lucas.

"What's wrong Luca?" Laila asks.

"Lucas." Dean says.

"Lucas." Andrea says.

"Lucas, it's okay. It's okay. Hey, Lucas, it's okay. It's okay." Dean tells Lucas.

Andrea pulls Lucas away from Dean and leads him outside. Lucas doesn't look away from Dean or Laila.

Jake throws down his jacket and goes into his office. Sam, Dean, Harry, Razi, Lei, and I follow.

"Okay, just so I'm clear, you saw...something attack Bill's boat, sending Bill—who is a very good swimmer, by the way—into the drink, and you never see him again?" the Sheriff asks us.

Dean glances at us.

"Yeah, that about sums it up." Dean tells Jake.

"And I'm supposed to believe this, even though I've already sonar-swept that entire lake? And what you're describing is impossible? And you're not really Wildlife Service?" Jake asks us.

Dean looks surprised.

"That's right, I checked. Department's never heard of you six." Jake tells us.

"You don't know what we've been through! So shut your mouth!" I tell the sheriff.

"See, now, we can explain that. And quiet Lorelai!" Dean says.

"Enough. Please. The only reason you're breathing free air is one of Bill's neighbors saw him steering out that boat just before you did. So, we have a couple of options here. I can arrest you for impersonating government officials and hold you as material witnesses to Bill Carlton's disappearance. Or, we can chalk this all up to a bad day, you get into your car, you put this town in your rearview mirror, and you don't ever darken my doorstep again." Jake tells us and I go to give him a piece of mind, when Razi puts his hand over my mouth.

"Door number two sounds good." Sam tells the Sheriff.

"That's the one I'd pick." Jake says, and his good mood from us going away goes away when I kick him three times in the face.

Third Person POV

Devins/Barr House

Lucas's Bedroom – Night

Lucas is in his room with the toy soldiers, drawing another black spiral. Andrea walks by his door in a robe.

"Baby, what are you doing up? Come on. Let's go to bed." Andrea tells Lucas. Andrea picks Lucas up.

Lore POV

Impala

Dean, Sam, Lei, and I are in the Impala, waiting at a traffic light. A sign says I-43 North to Milwaukee is to the left. The light turns green. The Impala doesn't move.

"Green." Sam tells Dean.

"What?" Dean asks Sam.

"Light's green." Sam tells Dean.

Dean turns right.

"Uh, the interstate's the other way." Sam tells Dean.

"I know." Dean says.

Third Person Pov

Bathroom

Andrea is in the bathroom. She plugs the drain of her tub and turns the water on.

Lore POV

Impala

Sam, Dean, Lei and I are in the car.

"But Dean, this job, I think it's over." Sam says.

"I'm not so sure." Dean tells us.

"If Bill murdered Peter Sweeney and Peter's spirit got its revenge, case closed. The spirit should be at rest." Sam tells Dean.

"All right, so what if we take off and this thing isn't done? You know, what if we've missed something? What if more people get hurt?" Dean asks Sam.

"But why would you think that?" Sam asks Dean.

"Because Lucas was really scared." Dean and Laila both say.

"That's what this is about?" Sam asks.

"I just don't want to leave this town until I know the kid's okay." Dean tells Sam.

"Get that stick out your bum Sam." Laila says, glaring at Sam.

"Who are you? And what have you done with my brother? And shut up Laila." Sam asks Dean the first two things and tells Laila the final thing.

Dean glances at Sam. "Shut up." Dean says.

Third Person POV

Devins/Barr House

Bathroom

The bathtub is mostly full and Andrea tests the water with one hand. She takes off her robe and gets in the water. She leans back, grabs a washcloth, and closes her eyes. The water coming out of the faucet turns brown. Andrea starts washing herself with the cloth, then opens her eyes. The water is entirely brown now. She screams and tries to get out of the tub, but something drags her down.

Hallway

Lucas pounds on the bathroom door.

Bathroom

Andrea's head is pulled under the water. She pulls it out. She is pulled under again; lather, rinse, repeat. Lucas keeps pounding. Andrea is invisible under the water.

Lore POV

Outside the House

Sam, Dean, Harry, Razi, Lei, and I have arrived.

"Are you sure about this? It's pretty late, man." Sam asks Dean.

Dean rings the doorbell. At that moment, Lucas opens the door, desperately afraid.

"Lucas? Lucas!" Dean says.

Lucas takes off. Dean, Sam, Harry, Razi, Lei, and I follow him to the hallway.

Water is pouring out from under the bathroom door and down the stairs. Lucas starts pounding on the bathroom door again. Dean and Harry push him over to Sam and kicks in the door. Lucas grabs Dean and Laila, so Sam runs into the bathroom and sticks his arms in the tub, trying to pull Andrea out. She is pulled back under, but Sam keeps pulling until Andrea is all the way out. She starts coughing up water.

Living Room – Day

Dawn is breaking. Sam, Andrea, Harry, Razi, Lei, and I sit in the living room. Andrea is dry and wearing comfortable clothing.

"Can you tell me?" Sam asks Andrea.

"No." Andrea tells Sam.

Dean is looking through notebooks on bookshelves.

"It doesn't make any sense." Andrea says. Andrea starts crying. "I'm going crazy." Andrea says. She puts her face in her hands.

"No, you're not. Tell me what happened. Everything." Sam tells Andrea.

"I heard...I thought I heard...there was this voice." Andrea says.

"What did it say?" Sam asks Andrea.

"It said...it said 'come play with me'." Andrea told us. Andrea sobs. "What's happening?" Andrea asks us.

Dean pulls out a scrapbook that says "Jake – 12 years old" and opens it, flipping pages. He closes it again and goes to Sam, Andrea, Harry, Razi, and me as Laila is with Lucas, drawing angels for him; he puts the book down in front of Andrea, open to a picture of Explorer Troop 37.

"Do you recognize the kids in these pictures?" Dean asks Andrea.

"What? Um, um, no. I mean, except that's my dad right there. He must have been about twelve in these pictures." Andrea tells Dean. She moves her finger over to another picture of Jake as a child; he is standing next to Peter. Dean looks at us.

"Chris Barr's drowning. The connection wasn't to Bill Carlton. It must have been to the sheriff." Dean tells us.

"Bill and the sheriff—they were both involved with Peter." Sam tells Dean.

"What about Chris? My dad—what are you talking about?" Andrea asks Dean and I wince.

Dean looks sideways. "Lucas?" Dean calls out to Lucas.

Lucas is staring out the window.

"Lucas, what is it?" Dean asks Lucas.

Lucas opens the door and walks outside. Everyone follows.

"Lucas, honey?" Andrea asks Lucas.

Lucas stops and looks at the ground, then at Dean and Laila.

"You and Lucas get back to the house and stay there, okay?" Dean tells Andrea.

"I'll stay with them." Laila says.

Andrea pulls Lucas back to the house, Laila following them. Dean, Sam, and I presumably fetch shovels from the Impala, Harry and Razi hold the flashlights, before we start digging. Sam's shovel clanks against something. We dig with our hands and pull out a red bicycle.

"Peter's bike." Sam says.

"Who are you?" Jake asks us.

Sam, Dean, Harry, Razi, and I turn around; Jake is there, pointing a gun at them.

"Put the gun down, Jake." Sam tells Jake.

"Before I shishkebob you." I tell Jake, pointing my sword his way.

Sam and Dean drop the shovels.

"How did you know that was there? And threatening to kill an officer?" Jake asks us.

"What happened? You and Bill killed Peter, drowned him in the lake and then buried the bike? You can't bury the truth, Jake. Nothing stays buried." Dean says.

Andrea sees Jake with the gun aimed at Sam, Dean, Razi, Harry, and me. She talks to Lucas. "Go to your room, sweetie. Now. Lock the door and wait for me. Don't come out." Andrea tells Lucas.

Lucas runs off. Andrea goes outside.

"I don't know what the hell you're talking about." Jake tells us. I snort at that.

"You and Bill killed Peter Sweeney thirty-five years ago. That's what the hell I'm talking about." Dean tells Jake.

Andrea runs up. "Dad!" Andrea says.

"And now you got one seriously pissed-off spirit." Dean tells the Sheriff

"It's gonna take Andrea, Lucas, everyone you love. It's gonna drown them. And it's gonna drag their bodies God knows where, so you can feel the same pain Peter's mom felt. And then, after that, it's gonna take you, and it's not gonna stop until it does." Sam tells Jake.

"Yeah, and how do you know that?" Jake asks Sam.

"Because that's exactly what it did to Bill Carlton." Sam tells Jake.

"Listen to yourselves, all of you. You're insane." Jake tells us.

"I don't really give a rat's ass what you think of us. But if we're gonna bring down this spirit, we need to find the remains, salt them, and burn them into dust. Now tell me you buried Peter somewhere. Tell me you didn't just let him go in the lake." Dean tells Jake.

Lucas didn't go to his room; he's outside watching.

"Come play with me." Peter's voice says.

Lucas follows the voice.

"Dad, is any of this true?" Andrea asks her dad.

"No. Don't listen to them. They're liars and they're dangerous." Jake tells Andrea.

"Something tried to drown me. Chris died on that lake. Dad, look at me." Andrea tells her dad.

Jake does.

"Tell me you—you didn't kill anyone." Andrea says.

Jake looks away.

"Oh my God." Andrea says.

"Billy and I were at the lake. Peter was the smallest one. We always bullied him, but this time, it got rough. We were holding his head under the water. We didn't mean to. But we held him under too long and he drowned. We let the body go, and it sank." Jake tells Andrea.

Dean glances at Sam, Harry, Razi, and me.

"Oh, Andrea, we were kids. We were so scared. It was a mistake. But, Andrea, to say that I have anything to do with these drownings, with Chris, because of some ghost? It's not rational." Jake tells Andrea.

"All right, listen to me, all of you. We need to get you away from this lake, as far as we can, right now." Dean tells Jake and Andrea.

Andrea turns her head and spots Lucas going down to the lake. She gasps.

"Lucas!" Jake shouts.

They all run up to the dock. Lucas is leaning over the side, reaching for a toy soldier in the water.

"Come play with me." Peter says.

"Lucas!" Dean shouts.

"Lucas! Baby, stay where you are!" Andrea tells Lucas.

A hand comes up and pulls Lucas into the water. The adults have reached the edge of the lake. Jake stops. Peter's head is visible; Jake recognizes him. Dean, Sam, and Laila keep running to the end of the dock and dive in.

"Oh my God!" Andrea says. She takes off her jacket to jump in.

"Andrea, stay there!" Sam tells Andrea.

"No! Lucas!" Andrea shouts.

"We'll get him! Just stay on the dock!" Sam tells Andrea.

Sam dives under again. Dean comes up. A minute later, so does Sam, but not Laila, I believe she's fighting the need for water to look for Lucas, to save him.

"Sam?" Dean asks Sam.

Sam shakes his head.

"Lucas, where are you?" Andrea calls out.

Jake takes off his jacket as Sam and Dean dive back down. Jake wades in. Andrea looks over.

"Peter, if you can hear me...please, Peter, I'm sorry. I'm so—I'm so sorry." Jake tells Peter.

"Daddy, no!" Andrea tells her dad.

"Peter. Lucas—he's, he's just a little boy. Please, it's not his fault, it's mine. Please take me." Jake tells Peter.

Dean and Sam come up for air.

"Jake, no!" Dean shouts at Jake.

Peter surfaces.

"Just let it be over!" Jake tells Peter.

Jake is dragged down.

"Daddy! Daddy! No!" Andrea says.

Dean and Sam dive down again.

"No!" Andrea shouts.

Sam comes up, shaking his head. Andrea mouths 'no!'

Dean comes up, holding Laila, who's holding Lucas, both of whom isn't moving.

Street – Day

Dean, Sam, Lei, Harry, Razi, and I walk out of the motel. Dean opens the car door and Sam tosses a duffel in. Harry kisses Laila goodbye as he gets in his car, and I get a kiss from Razi before he leaves.

"Look, we're not gonna save everybody." Sam tells Dean.

"I know." Dean says.

"Sam, Dean, Lore, Laila." Andrea says.

Andrea walks up with Lucas.

"Hey." Dean says.

"We're glad we caught you. We just, um, we made you lunch for the road. Especially for Lucas's guardian angel." Andrea says, looking at Laila, the "guardian angel", who blushes.

Lucas is carrying a tray of sandwiches.

"Lucas insisted on making the sandwiches himself." Andrea tells us.

"Can I give it to them now?" Lucas asks his mom.

"Of course." Andrea tells Lucas.

Andrea smiles and kisses Lucas's head.

"Come on, Lucas, let's load this into the car." Dean tells Lucas.

"How you holding up?" Sam asks Andrea.

"It's just gonna take a long time to sort through everything, you know?" Andrea tells Sam.

Sam sighs. "Andrea, I'm sorry." Sam tells Andrea.

Andrea shakes her head. "You saved my son. I can't ask for more than that. Dad loved me. He loved Lucas. No matter what he did, I just have to hold on to that." Andrea tells us.

Dean puts the sandwiches in the car.

"All right, if you're gonna be talking now, this is a very important phrase, so I want you to repeat it one more time." Dean tells Lucas

"Zeppelin rules! And so does Art and Laila, my angel!" Lucas says, adding the second and third.

"That's right. Up high." Dean tells Lucas, Laila blushing up a storm.

Dean holds his hand up for a high-five. Lucas obliges, grinning.

"You take care of your mom, okay?" Dean tells Lucas.

"All right." Lucas tells Dean.

Laila gives him a kiss on the cheek, telling him to be good and she might send him presents for being a good kid, seeing him as a little brother we never got before the toddlers.

Andrea comes up and kisses Dean and hugs Laila.

"Thank you." Andrea tells Dean and Laila.

Dean thinks a minute, then scratches his head and goes around the car. "Sam, Lore, Lei, move your asses. We're gonna run out of daylight before we hit the road." Dean tells us. Dean gets in the car, then Sam, then Laila, then me. Bad Company's "Movin' On" starts to play when Dean starts the engine.

I got to move on, and I never seem to slow down

Sam, Dean, Laila, and I smile at Andrea and Lucas waving goodbye.

Yeah yeah yeah, I'm moving on, moving on from town to town

Dean drives away, Sam, Lei, and I riding either shotgun or in the backseat.

Road – Day

Yeah yeah yeah, I never seem to slow down

The Impala drives on.
