Construction workers are building a luxury home complex. It focuses on two employees from Oklahoma Gas and Power, Travis Wheeler and Dustin Burwash.
"Man, these are some phat houses, huh? I'd like to live here." Travis says.
"Yeah, too bad you can't afford it." Dustin says.
"Yeah, you're right. This neighborhood will be damn expensive when it's done." Travis says.
"No, this place is perfect." Travis says. He smacks a bug on the side of his neck. "Except for the mosquitoes." Travis says. Travis can hear Dustin screaming for help. He turns and sees that Dustin has fallen into a hole in the ground. "Dustin?" Travis calls out. He rushed over to the hole.
"Help me, I'm trapped! I broke my ankle!" Dustin tells Travis
"All right, I'll get a rope!" Travis tells Dustin.
He leaves. Inside the hole, Dustin is clutching his bloody ankle, breathing heavily. He looks around nervously and sees that there are thousands of beetles inside the walls of the hole. Several of them have landed on his hand, and he frantically brushes them off.
"Oh, God." Dustin says.
Outside the hole, Travis runs to a nearby truck and opens it. Back inside the hole, tons of beetles are beginning to cover Dustin's body. They gather in groups on his clothing and skin.
"Travis, help!" Dustin calls out.
"Hang on!" Travis tells Dustin.
Travis gets a rope from the truck. Inside the hole, Dustin is almost entirely covered in beetles.
"Travis, help!" Dustin screams.
He continues to scream as beetles crawl inside his ears and nose.
"It's okay, Dustin! It's okay!" Travis tells Dustin. He runs back to the hole with supplies. "Dustin? Dustin, I'm here!" Travis calls. He looks into the hole with a flashlight, horrified. "Oh, God." Travis says.
Inside the hole, Dustin is dead. He is bleeding heavily from the ears, nose, and eyes.

Outside of Oklahoma Bar - Night
Laila POV
Sam is reading a newspaper article about Dustin, holding Henry in one arm and Liam by him, as it's our week. A minute later, Dean comes outside with Joan and Victoria, laughing and waving a wad of cash in the air while Lore is playing her violin with Prim and Kate by her, and I am painting with Evan and Alex by me.
"You know, we could get day jobs once in a while." Sam tells Dean and I roll my eyes.
Hm hm hm, tsk, tsk, tsk
All right, yeah, I got something to say
Yeah, it's better to burn out
Yeah, than fade away
All right Ow
Gonna start a fire
C'mon
"Hunting's our day job. And the pay is crap." Dean tells Sam.
"Yeah, but hustling pool? Credit card scams? It's not the most honest thing in the world, Dean." Sam says but Lorelai and I clear our throats.
Rise up, gather round
Rock this place to the ground
Burn it up, let's go for broke
Watch the night go up in smoke
"Well, let's see honest." Dean says. He holds out one hand. "Fun and easy." Dean says. He holds out the other, and gestures that "fun and easy" outweighs "honest". "It's no contest. Besides, we're good at it. It's what we were raised to do." Dean tells us.
Rock on (Rock on) Drive me crazier No serenade, no fire brigade Just the pyromania, come on
"Yeah, well, how we were raised was jacked." Sam says.
(What do ya want?) What do ya want? (I want rock 'n' roll)
Yes, I do (Long live rock 'n' roll)
Oh, let's go let's strike a light
We're gonna blow like dynamite
I don't care if it takes all night
Gonna set this town alight, c'mon
"Yeah, says you. We got a new gig or what?" Dean asks Sam.
(What do ya want?)
What do ya want? (I want rock 'n' roll)
All right (Long live rock 'n' roll)
Oh, yeah, yeah
"Maybe. Oasis Plains, Oklahoma - not far from here. A gas company employee, Dustin Burwash, supposedly died from Creutzfeldt-Jakob." Sam says.
Rock of ages, rock of ages
Still rollin', keep a-rollin'
Rock of ages, rock of ages
Still rollin', rock 'n' rollin'
We got the power, got the glory
Just say you need it
And if you need it say yeah (Yeah!)
Oh, yeah, heh heh heh heh
Now listen to me
"Huh?" Dean asks.
"Human mad cow disease." Sam tells us.
I'm burnin', burnin',
I got the fever
I know for sure, there ain't no cure
So feel it, don't fight it, go with the flow
And gimme, gimme, gimme, gimme one more for the road, yeah
"Mad cow. Wasn't that on Oprah?" Dean asks us.
"You watch Oprah?" Sam asks Dean.
"Sam don't tease Dean." I tell Sam.
(What do ya want?)
What do ya want? (I want rock 'n' roll)
You betcha (Long live rock 'n' roll)
Now hit it
Dean, embarrassed, can't think of anything to say.
Rock of ages, rock of ages
Still rollin', keep a-rollin'
Rock of ages, rock of ages
Still rollin', rock 'n' rollin'
"So this guy eats a bad burger. Why is it our kind of thing?" Dean asks Sam, changing the topic.
"Mad cow disease causes massive brain degeneration. It takes months, even years, for the damage to appear. But this guy, Dustin? Sounds like his brain disintegrated in about an hour. Maybe less." Sam says.
We got the power, got the glory
Just say you need it
And if you need it say yeah (Yeah!)
Say yeah (Yeah!)
"Okay, that's weird. " Dean says.
"Yeah. Now, it could be a disease. Or it could be somethin' much nastier." Sam says.
We're gonna burn this damn place down, woo-hoo Down to the ground Heh heh heh heh heh heh heh heh
"All right. Oklahoma." Dean says We get in the cars. Lore and I got our own. Lorelai has a 780-mile 2005 Porsche Carrera GT. I have a 1995 Harley Davidson Fat Boy in white with a wing decal and bow and arrow decal and Lorelai has a 1995 Harley Davidson Fat Boy in black with wing decal and a sword decal. I also have a 1994 Jaguar XJ220 for rainy days. "Man. Work, work, work. No time to spend my money." Dean says.
We drive off after Lore stops playing and I sell my painting.
March, 24, 2006
Outside of Oklahoma Gas and Power Company Building - Day
Dean, Sam, Lore and I get out of the cars with the kids, and approach Travis.
"Travis Wheeler?" Sam asks.
"Yeah, that's right." Travis says.
"Are you the Travis who worked with Uncle Dusty?" Dean asks.
"Dustin never mentioned nephews or nieces." Travis tells us.
"Really? Well, he sure mentioned you. He said you were the greatest." Dean tells Travis.
"Yeah." Sam says.
"Oh, he did? Huh." Travis says, smiling.
"Listen, we wanted to ask you... what exactly happened out there?" Dean asks Travis.
"We need closure is all." I tell Travis.
"I'm not sure. He fell in a sinkhole, I went to the truck to get some rope, and, uh... by the time I got back..." Travis says.
"What did you see?" Dean asks.
Lore smack him upside the head.
"Don't be an insensitive jerk!" Lorelai tells Dean.
"Nothin'. Just Dustin." Travis says.
"No wounds or anything?" Sam asks Travis.
"Well, he was bleeding... from his eyes and his ears, his nose. But that's it." Travis says.
"So you think it could be this whole mad cow thing?" Dean asks.
"I don't know. That's what the doctors are sayin'." Travis tells us.
"But if it was, he would've acted strange beforehand, like dementia, loss of motor control. You ever notice anything like that?" Sam asks Travis.
"No. No way. But then again, if it wasn't some disease, what the hell was it?" Travis asks.
"That's a good question." Dean says.
"You know, can you tell us where this happened?" Sam asks Travis as I call Harry and Razi to babysit.
"Yeah." Travis says.
A while later, Dean, Sam, Lore, and I arrive at the scene of Dustin's death as the kids are being watched by Harry and Razi. That's what I think until they come and I learn they called their dad.. The sinkhole is surrounded by police tape.
"Huh. What do you think?" Dean asks us.
"I don't know. But if that guy, Travis, was right, it happened pretty damn fast." Sam says.
"Too fast to be normal bro. And Harry, if you were gonna get any tonight, you're dead wrong now." I tell Harry in my too sweet you're in trouble voice.
"That goes for me too Razi." Lorelai says in a sickly sweet voice.
We duck under the police tape and look into the hole with a flashlight.
"So, what? Some sort of creature chewed on his brain? And you better be married before you give that away." Dean says. Hypocrite.
"No, there'd be an entry wound. Sounds like this thing worked from the inside. And I agree with Dean." Sam says.
"Huh. Looks like there's only room for one. You guys wanna flip a coin?" Dean asks us.
"Coward." I tell Dean.
"Dean, we have no idea what's down there." Sam tells Dean.
Dean picks up a nearby coil of rope.
"All right, I'll go if you're scared. You scared?" Dean asks us.
"Flip the damn coin." Sam says.
Dean chuckles and takes a coin out of his pocket.
"All right, call it in the air... chicken." Dean says, and for that, I whack him.
He flips the coin, and Sam catches it in midair.
"I'm going." Sam says.
"I said I'd go." Dean tells Sam.
"I'm going." Sam says.
"We're right here." I point to me Lore, Harry, and Razi.
"We're not letting you go. That's final." Dean and Sam say.
"All right." Dean tells Sam.
Sam begins tying the rope around his waist.
"Don't drop me." Sam tells Dean.
Inside the Impala
Sam POV
While Dean drives, I am examining a dead beetle in my hand.
"So you found some beetles. In a hole, in the ground. That's shocking, Sam." Dean says.
"There were no tunnels, no tracks. No evidence of any other kind of creature down there. You know, some beetles do eat meat. Now, it's usually dead meat, but..." I start to say.
"How many did you find down there?" Dean asks me.
"Ten." I tell him.
"It'd take a whole lot more than that to eat out some dude's brain." Dean says.
"Well, maybe there were more." I tell Dean.
"I don't know, it sounds like a stretch to me." Dean says.
"Well, we need more information on the area, the neighborhood. Whether something like this has ever happened before." I tell Dean.
As we drive through town, we pass a sign for an open house, decorated with red balloons.
"What?" I ask Dean.
"I know a good place to start." Dean tells me. Another sign reads, "Models Open. New Buyers' BBQ Today!" "I'm kinda hungry for a little barbeque, how 'bout you?" Dean tells me. I give him a knowing look. "What, we can't talk to the locals?" Dean asks me.
"And the free food's got nothin' to do with it?" I ask Dean.
"Of course not. I'm a professional." Dean tells me.
"Right." I tell Dean.
We pull over and get out of the cars, Lorelai, Laila, Harry, and Razi having followed us. We begin walking down the street to the open house.
I got more bills than I got pay
Bills keep coming every day
I watch my money slip away
Till there is nothing left to save
I just keep working night and day
I got more bills than I got pay
"Growin' up in a place like this would freak me out." Dean tells us.
"Why?" I ask.
I work a sixty-hour week
Barely making both ends meet
I need to win the lottery
Cause that's the only hope for me
Till then I'm working night and day
I got more bills than I got pay
"Well, manicured lawns, "How was your day, honey?" I'd blow my brains out." Dean says.
"There's nothing wrong with "normal"." I tell Dean.
What comes in slow, goes out fast
I just can't seem to make my money last
A broken back and swollen feet
That's all I get for working eight days a week
"I'd take our family over normal any day." Dean tells me.
They approach the house and knock on the door. The homeowner, Larry Pike, answers.
"Welcome." Larry tells us.
"This the barbeque?" Dean asks Larry.
I'm just like every working man
Who tries to do the best he can
I keep a few bucks in my hand
And give the rest to Uncle Sam
So I'll keep working night and day
I got more bills than I got pay
"Yeah, not the best weather, but... I'm Larry Pike, the developer here. And you are...?" Larry asks us.
"Dean. This is Sam, Lorelai, Laila, Hadraniel, and Raziel." Dean says.
What comes in slow, goes out fast
I just can't seem to make my money last
A broken back and swollen feet
That's all I get for working eight days a week
We shake hands.
"Sam, Dean, good to meet you. So, you six are interested in Oasis Plains?" Larry asks us.
"Yes, sir." Dean says.
"Let me just say - we accept homeowners of any race, religion, color, or... sexual orientation." Larry tells us.
I'm just like every working man
Who tries to do the best he can
I keep a few bucks in my hand
And give the rest to Uncle Sam
Dean and I realize what he is trying to say.
Lore, Laila, Harry, and Razi, the traitors they are bust out laughing.
So I'll keep working night and day
I got more bills than I got pay
I just keep working night and day
I got more bills than I got pay
"We're brothers, Lore and Laila are our sisters who are with Harry and Razi." Dean says, quickly.
Larry seems slightly embarrassed.
''Our fathers is getting on in years, and we're just lookin' for a place for them." I tell him.
"Great, great. Well, seniors are welcome, too. Come on in." Larry says.
Larry takes us outside to the backyard. There are lots of people walking around, chatting and eating.
"You said you were the developer?" I ask Larry.
"Eighteen months ago, I was walking this valley with my survey team. There was nothing here but scrub brush and squirrels. And you know what, we built such a nice place to live that I actually bought into it myself. This is our house. We're the first family in Oasis Plains." Larry tells me. We walk over to his wife. "This is my wife, Joanie." Larry tells me.
"Hi there." Joanie tells us.
"Hi." Dean says. Dean shakes her shake hands.
"Hi, nice to meet you." Joanie tells us.
"Nice to meet ya." Lorelai says.
"Sam, Dean, Lorelai, Laila, Harry and Razi." Larry says.
"Sam." I introduce myself, shaking her hand.
"Laila" Laila waves.
"Harry." Harry says, saluting her.
"Razi." Razi says, waving.
"Lorelai." says, giving Joanie a mock curtsy.
"Pleasure." Joanie says.
"Tell them how much you love the place, honey. And lie if you have to because I need to sell some houses." Larry says.
"Right." Joanie says. They laugh.
"Boys, will you excuse me?" Larry asks us. He leaves.
"Don't let his salesman routine scare you. This really is a great place to live." Joanie says.
A very energetic woman, Lynda Bloome, approaches us. Her black hair is pulled back in a tight bun.
"Hi, I'm Lynda Bloome, head of sales." Lynda tells us.
"And Lynda was second to move in. She's a very noisy neighbor, though." Joanie says. She leaves.
Lynda laughs. "She's kidding, of course. I take it you six are interested in becoming homeowners." Linda says.
"Well..." Dean starts to say.
"Y-yeah, well..." I start to say.
"Well, let me just say that we accept homeowners of any race, religion, color, or... sexual orientation." Lynda says. Dean chuckles.
"Right. Um... I'm gonna go talk to Larry." Dean says. "Okay, honey?" Dean says to me, Lorelai and Raziel following after.
He walks away, smacking me on my ass. Lynda, Harry, Laila, and I share an awkward silence.
Lorelai POV
Inside the Pike Residence
Inside the house, Larry, Dean, Razi and I come downstairs, finishing a tour.
"You've got three choices - carpet, hardwood, and tile." Larry tells us.
Dean notices a jar full of bugs on a nearby table.
"Whoa. Someone likes bugs." Dean says.
"My son - he's into insects. He's very... inquisitive." Larry tells us.
Laila POV
Outside of the Pike Residence
Outside, Lynda is still talking to us.
"Who can say "no" to a steam shower? I use mine everyday." Lynda tells us.
"Sounds great." Sam says, uninterested. While Lynda continues talking, Sam and I notice a tarantula crawling towards her hand, which is resting on a table. A few feet away, Larry's son, Matt, is watching excitedly. "Excuse me." Sam tells Lynda. He pushes Lynda out of the way and picks up the spider, bringing it over to Matt. "Is this yours?" Sam asks Matt.
"You gonna tell my dad?" Matt asks us, taking the spider away.
"I don't know. Who's your dad?" Sam asks Matt.
Matt scoffs "Yeah, Larry usually skips me in the family introductions." Matt tells us.
"Ouch. First name basis with the old man - sounds pretty grim." Sam tells Matt.
"Well, I'm not exactly brochure material." Matt says.
"Well, hang in there. It gets better, all right? I promise." Sam tells Matt.
"When?" Matt asks.
"Matthew." Larry says. We turn to see Larry, Razi, Lore, and Dean walking towards them. "I am so sorry about my son and his... pet." Larry says.
"It's no bother." Sam tells Larry.
"Excuse us." Larry says.
He walks away with Matt.
"Remind you of somebody?" Sam asks Dean. Dean looks over at Larry, who is yelling at Matt. He looks back at Sam, confused. "Dad?" Sam says.
"Dad never treated us like that." Dean says.
"Well, Dad never treated you like that. You were perfect. He was all over my case and the twins case. You don't remember?" Sam asks Dean.
"Well, maybe he had to raise his voice, but sometimes, you three were out of line." Dean says.
Sam scoffs "Right. Right, like when I said I'd rather play soccer than learn bowhunting Or how when instead of archery first or melting silver, the girls had music and painting. He was all over their case, telling them to quit." Sam says.
"Bowhunting's an important skill. So is Archery and meting silver." Dean says.
"Whatever. How was your tour?" Sam says, rolling his eyes.
"Oh, it was excellent. I'm ready to buy." Dean says. Sam laughs. "So you might be onto somethin'. Looks like Dustin Burwash wasn't the first strange death around here." Dean tells us.
"What happened?" Sam asks.
"About a year ago, before they broke ground, one of Larry's surveyors dropped dead while on the job. Get this severe allergic reaction to bee stings." Dean tells Sam.
"More bugs." Sam says.
"More Bugs." Dean says, nodding.
Impala - Night
Dean POV
While Sam drives through the neighborhood, I look through our father's journal.
"You know, I've heard of killer bees, but killer beetles? What is it that could make different bugs attack?" I ask.
"Well, hauntings sometimes include bug manifestations." Sam tells me.
"Yeah, but I didn't see any evidence of ghost activity." I tell Sam, checking the rearview, making sure Laila, Harry, Razi, and Lore are still following us.
"Yeah, me neither." Sam tells me.
"Maybe they're being controlled somehow. You know, by something or someone." I tell Sam.
"You mean, like Willard?" Sam asks.
"Yeah, bugs instead of rats." I tell him.
"There are cases of psychic connections between people and animals - elementals, telepaths." Sam says.
"Yeah, that whole Timmy-Lassie thing." I say. I think for a second and realize something. "Larry's kid - he's got bugs for pets." I tell Sam.
"Matt?" Sam asks.
"Yeah." I say.
"He did try to scare the realtor with a tarantula." Sam tells me.
"You think he's our Willard?" I say.
"I don't know. Anything's possible, I guess." Sam says.
"Ooh, hey. Pull over here." I tell Sam.
Sam pulls into the empty driveway of one of the Oasis Plains homes, followed by Laila, Lorelai, Harry, and Razi.
"What are we doing here?" Sam asks.
"It's too late to talk to anybody else." I say, getting out of the car.
"We're gonna squat in an empty house?" Sam asks.
"Are you crazy in the head? Laila asks.
"Honestly
"I wanna try the steam shower. Come on." I say. Sam and the others don't move. "Come on!" I tell them.
Reluctantly, Sam pulls the car into the garage, and I close it.
Inside the Bloome Residence
Third Person POV
Lynda Bloome enters her bedroom, turning on the light. She turns on the television and takes her hair out of the bun.
"Atoka Valley County began mandatory insecticide spraying across a wide swath of the district today. Authorities say the decision to spray was made because of several recent cases of West Nile virus, coupled with a dramatic increase in the mosquito population of some areas." the woman on TV says.
As she is watching the news, a large spider crawls out of Lynda's hair and onto her face. She gasps and swipes it away. She turns off the television, frightened.
A few moments later, Lynda is in the shower. While she is washing her hair, a very big spider crawls out from behind the showerhead. In a matter of seconds, hundreds of enormous spiders begin crawling out from the tiles. Lynda opens her eyes and screams. She breaks through the glass of the shower doors and tries to run away. The camera pans over to her. A trail of blood leads from the bathtub to the bedroom floor. Lynda is lying there, dead, as several smaller spiders run across her body.

Inside Oasis Plains Home - Morning
Laila POV
Sam approaches the bathroom door, where the shower can be heard running. He knocks.
"You ever comin' out of there?" Sam asks De.
"What?" Dean asks.
"Dean, a police call came in on the scanner." Sam tells Dean.
"Hold on." Dean says from the bathroom.
"Someone was found dead three blocks from here. Come on." Sam tells Dean
The bathroom door opens a bit. Dean is standing there, in the steam-filled room, with a towel on his head.
"This shower is awesome." Dean tells Sam.
"Come on." Sam says, rolling his eyes. He walks away.
Outside Bloome Residence
Dean, Sam, Harry, Razi, Lorelai, and I pull up and get out of the cars. They approach Larry, who is finishing talking to someone on the phone. Lynda's body is being carried out in a body bag on a stretcher.
"Hello. You're, uh, back early." Larry tells us.
"Yeah, we just drove in, wanted to take another look at the neighborhood." Dean tells Larry.
"What's goin' on?" Sam asks.
"You guys met, uh... Lynda Bloome at the barbeque?" Larry asks us.
"The realtor." Sam says.
"Well, she, uh... passed away last night." Larry tells us.
We are shocked.
"What happened?" Dean asks Larry.
"I'm still tryin' to find out. Identified the body for the police. Look, I-I'm sorry, this isn't a good time now." Larry says.
"It's okay." Sam says.
"Excuse me." Larry says. He leaves them.
"You know what we have to do, right?" Dean asks us.
"Yeah. Get in that house." Sam says.
"See if we got a bug problem." Dean tells Sam.
A few minutes later, they climb over the fence, up the side of the house, and through Lynda's bedroom window.
Inside the Bloome Residence
The outline of her dead body is drawn on the carpet.
"This looks like the place." De says. We walk over to another part of the room. Dean picks up a towel, and drops it when he sees it is covered in dead spiders. "Spiders. From Spider Boy?" Dean asks.
"Matt - maybe." Sam says.
Road - Day
Dean, Sam, Harry, Razi, Lorelai, and I pull up at the curb. Across the street, Matt gets off a school bus and begins walking.
"Isn't his house that way?" Dean asks. He points in the opposite direction.
"Yup." Sam says, What? I may have bugged their car.
"So, where's he goin'?" Dean asks.
We get out of our cars and begin following Matt. We find him in the woods, examining a grasshopper.
"Hey, Matt. Remember us?" Sam, Harry, and I ask.
"What are you doin' out here?" Matt asks us.
"Well, we wanna talk to you." Dean says.
"You're not here to buy a house, are you?" Matt asks us. Dean shakes his head. "W-wait. You're not serial killers?" Matt asks us. We all laugh at that.
"No, no. No, I think you're safe." Sam says.
"So, Matt... you sure know a lot about insects." Dean says.
"So?" Matt asks.
"Did you hear what happened to Lynda, the realtor?" Dean asks Matt and for that, I whack Dean upside the head.
"I hear she died this morning." Matt says.
"Mm, that's right. Spider bites." Dean says.
"Matt... you tried to scare her with a spider." Sam tells matt and gets a kick to the nuts from Lorelai, sending him reeling to the ground.
"Wait. You think I had something to do with that?" Matt asks.
"You tell us. And ouch!" Dean says.
"That tarantula was a joke. Anyway, that wouldn't explain the bee attack or the gas company guy." Matt tells us.
"You know about those?" Sam wheezes.
"There is somethin' going on here. I don't know what... but something's happening with the insects. Let me show you something." Matt says.
He picks up his backpack and beings walking with us to another area.
"So, if you knew about all this bug stuff, why not tell your dad? Maybe he could clear everybody out." Sam asks.
"Believe me, I've tried. But, uh, Larry doesn't listen to me." Matt says.
"Why not?" Sam asks.
"Mostly? He's too disappointed in his freak son." Matt says.
Sam scoffs "I hear you." Sam, Lore, and I say.
"You do?" Dean asks.
Sam, Lorelai, and I turn and gives him a look.
"Matt, how old are you?" Sam asks Matt.
"Sixteen." Matt says.
"Well, don't sweat it, because in two years, something great's gonna happen." Sam tells
"What?" Matt asks.
"College. You'll be able to get out of that house and away from your dad." Sam tells Matt.
"What kind of advice is that? Kid should stick with his family." Dean says.
Sam, Lore, and I sigh and glare at him.
"How much further, Matt?" Sam asks Matt.
"We're close." Matt says.
Sam glares at Dean one more time before we continue walking. A few moments later, we reach a large clearing. The sounds of hundreds of different insects can be heard among the trees.
"I've been keeping track of insect populations. It's, um, part of an AP science class." Matt tells us.
"You two are like peas in a pod." Dean says.
Sam ignores Dean.
"Dean... just don't okay?" I tell him.
"What's been happening?" Sam asks Matt.
"A lot. I mean, from bees to earthworms, beetles... you name it. It's like they're congregating here." Matt tells us.
"Why?" Dean asks.
"I don't know." Matt says.
"What's that?" Sam asks.
He points to a dark patch of grass a few feet away. Curious, we walk over to it and discover hundreds of worms. Dean steps on some of them, and they fall into the ground, creating a hole. He crouches down and uses a stick to poke around in the hole.
"There's somethin' down there." Dean says.
He puts the stick down and puts his hand into the hole. With a disgusted expression, he feels something inside the hole. He brings his hand back up, and all of us look horrified. Covered in dirt and worms, is a human skull.
Outside of the Department of Anthropology
Sam, Dean, Lorelai, Harry, Razi, and I pull up outside the local university and get out of the cars. We take the box of bones out from the backseats and head towards the building.
"So, a bunch of skeletons in an unmarked grave." Sam says.
"Yeah. Maybe this is a haunting. Pissed off spirits? Some unfinished business?" Dean asks.
"Yeah, maybe. Question is, why bugs? And why now?" Sam asks.
"That's two questions." Dean says. Sam ignores him. "Yeah, so with that kid back there... why'd you tell him to just ditch his family like that?" Dean asks Sam.
"Just, uh... I know what the kid's goin' through." Sam says.
"How 'bout tellin' him to respect his old man, how's that for advice?" Dean asks.
"Dean, shut up." I tell Dean.
"Dean, come on." Sam says. We stop walking and I sigh. "This isn't about his old man. You think I didn't respect Dad. That's what this is about." Sam says.
"Just forget it, all right? Sorry I brought it up." Dean tells us.
"I respected him. But no matter what I did, it was never good enough." Sam says.
"So what are you sayin'? That Dad was disappointed in you and the twins?" Dean asks Sam.
"Was? Is. Always has been." Sam says.
"Why would you think that?" Dean asks.
"Because I didn't wanna bowhunt or hustle pool - because I wanted to go to school and live my life, which, to our whacked-out family, made me the freak." Sam says.
"Yeah, you three were kind of like the blonde chick in The Munsters." Dean tells us.
"Dean, you know what most dads are when their kids score a full ride? Proud. Most dads don't toss their kids out of the house." Sam says.
"I remember that fight. In fact, I seem to recall a few choice phrases comin' out of your mouth." Dean says.
"You know, truth is, when we finally do find Dad... I don't know if he's even gonna wanna see me." Sam says.
"Sam, Dad was never disappointed in you. Never. He was scared." Dean tells Sam.
"What are you talkin' about?" Sam asks Dean.
"He was afraid of what could've happened to you if he wasn't around. But even when you two weren't talkin'... he used to swing by Stanford whenever he could." Dean tells Sam. Sam's smirk fades. "Keep an eye on you. Make sure you were safe." Dean tells us.
"What?" Sam asks.
"Que?'' I ask.
"Wha?" Lore ask.
"Yeah." Dean says.
"Why didn't you tell me any of that?" Sam asks Dean.
"Well, it's a two-way street, dude. You could've picked up the phone." Dean says. Sam stares at him sadly. "Come on, we're gonna be late for our appointment." Dean says. He walks away.
Inside College Classroom
Lorelai Freyja Winchester POV
Sam, Dean, Laila, Harry, Razi, and I are talking with the professor.
"So, you six are students?" the professor asks us.
"Yeah. Yeah, uh, we're in your class - Anthro 101?" Sam says.
"Oh, yeah." the professor says.
"So, what about the bones, Professor?" Dean asks the professor.
"This is quite an interesting find you've made. I'd say they're 170 years old, give or take. The timeframe and the geography heavily suggest Native American." the professor says.
"Were there any tribes or reservations on that land?" Sam asks.
"Not according to the historical record. But the, uh, relocation of native peoples was quite common at that time." the professor says.
"Right. Well, are there any local legends? Oral histories about the area?" Sam asks.
"Well... you know, there's a Euchee tribe in Sapulpa. It's about sixty miles from here. Someone out there might know the truth." the professor says.
"All right." Dean says.
Road Through Sapulpa
Dean, Sam, Harry, Razi, Laila, and I are driving through Sapulpa. We stop and ask a Native American man for directions. Once he directs us where to go, we thank him and drive away.
Inside the Oklahoma Diner
Sam, Dean, Laila, Harry, Razi, and I enter and find another Native American man playing cards at a table.
"Joe White Tree?" Sam asks. The man nods. "We'd like to ask you a few questions, if that's all right." Sam tells Joe.
"We're students from the university." Dean says and I whack him as it's obviously a lie.
"No, you're not. You're lying. At least the girls have common sense." Joe says.
Dean seems taken aback. "Well, truth is..." Dean starts to say
"You know who starts sentence with "truth is"? Liars." Joe says and I smirk.
Dean exchanges a look with all of us.
"Have you heard of Oasis Plains? It's a housing development near the Atoka Valley." Sam asks Joe.
"I like him. He's not a liar." Joe tells Dean. Dean looks angry. "I know the area." Joe tells us.
"What can you tell us about the history there?" Sam asks Joe.
"Why do you wanna know?" Joe asks us.
"Something... something bad is happening in Oasis Plains. We think it might have something to do with some old bones we found down there - Native American bones." Sam tells Joe.
"I'll tell you what my grandfather told me, what his grandfather told him. Two hundred years ago, a band of my ancestors lived in that valley. One day, the American cavalry came to relocate them. They were resistant, the cavalry impatient. As my grandfather put it, on the night the moon and the sun share the sky as equals, the cavalry first raided our village. They murdered, raped. The next day, the cavalry came again, and the next, and the next. And on the sixth night, the cavalry came one last time. And by the time the sun rose, every man, woman, and child still in the village was dead. They say on the sixth night, as the chief of the village lay dying, he whispered to the heavens that no white man would ever tarnish this land again. Nature would rise up and protect the valley. And it would bring as many days of misery and death to the white man as the cavalry had brought upon his people." Joe tells us.
I start crying, and I start to see images, visions of the past, of what happened to the Euchee tribe. By the end, I collapse.
"Insects. Sounds like nature to me. Six days." Dean says.
"And on the night of the sixth day, none would survive." Joe says, helping me to me my feet, somehow knowing what I seen.
Sam, Dean, Harry, Razi, Laila, and I exchange a look.
Outside the Oklahoma Diner
Sam, Dean, Harry, Razi, Laila, and I are walking back to the cars.
"When did the gas company man die?" Sam asks us.
"Uh, let's see, we got here Tuesday, so, Friday the twentieth." Dean says.
"March twentieth?" Sam asks. Dean nods. "That's the spring equinox." Sam says.
"The night the sun and the moon share the sky as equals." Dean says.
"So, every year about this time, anybody in Oasis Plains is in danger. Larry built this neighborhood on cursed land." Sam tells us.
"And on the sixth night - that's tonight." Dean says.
"If we don't do something, Larry's family will be dead by sunrise. So how do we break the curse?" Sam asks.
"I can think of a way." I say.
"You don't break a curse. You get out of its way. We've gotta get those people out now." Dean says, glaring at me for suggesting putting myself in danger.
We get in the cars and drive away.

Outside of Pike Residence - Night
Third Person POV
Matt is in the backyard with a flashlight. He hears a noise coming from the ground. He crouches down by a patch of ground and moves a rock. Suddenly, tons of cockroaches come crawling out from under the dirt. Matt runs away.
Impala
Dean POV
I am driving while talking on the phone with Larry.
"Yes, Mr. Pike, there's a mainline gas leak in your neighborhood." I tell Larry.
"God, really? And how big?" Larry asks over the phone.
"Well, it's fairly extensive. I don't want to alarm you, but we need your family out of the vicinity for at least twelve hours or so, just to be safe." I tell Larry.
"And who is this, again?" Larry asks me.
"Travis Wheeler. I work for Oklahoma Gas and Power." I say.
"Uh-huh. Well, the problem is, I know Travis. He's worked with us for a year, so who is this?" Larry asks me.
"Uh..." I say. Panicked, I hang up.
"Give me the phone." Sam tells me.
He takes the phone from me and dials a number. At the Pike residence, Matt answers his cell phone.
"Hello?" Matt asks.
"Matt, it's Sam." Sam tells Matt.
"Sam, my backyard is crawling with cockroaches." Matt says.
"Matt, just listen. You have to get your family out of that house right now, okay?" Sam says.
"What, why?" Matt asks.
"Because something's coming." Sam tells Matt.
"More bugs?" Matt asks.
"Yeah, a lot more." Sam says.
"My dad doesn't listen in the best of circumstances, what am I supposed to tell him?" Matt asks.
"You've gotta make him listen, okay?" Sam asks.
"Give me the phone, give me the phone." I tell Sam. I grab the phone from Sam. "Matt, under no circumstances are you to tell the truth, they'll just think you're nuts." I tell Matt.
"But he's my..." Matt almost says.
"Tell him you have a sharp pain in your right side and you've gotta go to the hospital, okay?" I say.
"Yeah. Yeah, okay." Matt says.
He hangs up, and so does Dean.
"Make him listen? What are you thinkin'?" I ask Sam.
March 27, 2006
Outside of Pike Residence
Lore POV
A while later, we pull up outside Larry's house. Larry looks out the window and, seeing our cars, goes outside.
"Damn it, they're still here. Come on." Dean says.
They get out of the cars, joined by Matt.
"Get off my property before I call the cops." Larry tells us but I go to the woods.
Laila POV
"Mr. Pike, listen." Sam says.
"Dad, they're just tryin' to help." Matt says.
"Get in the house!" Larry tells his son.
"You think I'm an ignorant savage
And you've been so many places I guess it must be so
But still I cannot see
If the savage one is me
How can there be so much that you don't know
You don't know"
"I'm sorry. I told him the truth." Matt tells Sam and Dean.
"We had a plan, Matt, what happened to the plan?" Dean asks Matt.
You think you own whatever land you land on
The Earth is just a dead thing you can claim
But I know every rock and tree and creature
Has a life, has a spirit, has a name
"Look, it's 12:00 AM. They are coming any minute now. You need to get your family and go, before it's too late. Wait... where's Lorelai?" Sam asks.
"Yeah, you mean before the biblical swarm." Larry says.
"You think the only people who are people
Are the people who look and think like you
But if you walk the footsteps of a stranger
You'll learn things you never knew, you never knew"
"Larry, what do you think really happened to that realtor, huh? And the gas company guy? You don't think somethin' weird's goin' on here?" Dean asks, meanwhile I am looking through Lorelai's eyes.
"Look, I don't know who you are, but you're crazy. You come near my boy or my family again, and we're gonna have a problem." Larry says.
"Have you ever heard the wolf cry to the blue corn moon
Or asked the grinning bobcat why he grinned
Can you sing with all the voices of the mountain
Can you paint with all the colors of the wind
Can you paint with all the colors of the wind"
"Well, I hate to be a downer, but we've got a problem right now." Dean says.
"Dad, they're right, okay? We're in danger." Matt says.
"Come run the hidden pine trails of the forest
Come taste the sun sweet berries of the Earth
Come roll in all the riches all around you
And for once, never wonder what they're worth"
"Matt, get inside! Now!" Larry tells Matt.
"No! Why won't you listen to me?!" Matt asks his dad.
"The rainstorm and the river are my brothers
The heron and the otter are my friends
And we are all connected to each other
In a circle, in a hoop that never ends."
"Because this is crazy! It doesn't make any sense!" Larry tells Matt.
"Look, this land is cursed! People have died here. Now, are you gonna really take that risk with your family?" Sam asks Larry.
"How high does the sycamore grow?
If you cut it down, then you'll never know
And you'll never hear the wolf cry to the blue corn moon
For whether we are white or copper skinned
We need to sing with all the voices of the mountain
We need to paint with all the colors of the wind
You can own the Earth and still
All you'll own is Earth until
You can paint with all the colors of the wind" I hear my sister sing over our bond to the spirits.
"Wait." Dean says. We all go silent. "You hear it?" Dean asks us.
From somewhere nearby, a very loud buzzing noise can be heard. It continues to get louder.
"What the hell?" Larry asks.
The fluorescent bug light on the porch begins to overheat, killing several bugs at a time.
"All right, it's time to go. Larry, get your wife." Dean says.
"Guys." Matt says.
All of them look up to the sky. Millions of bugs begin flying towards the house, blanketing the sky.
"Oh my God." Larry says.
"We'll never make it." Sam says.
"Everybody in the house. Everybody in the house, go!" Dean says.
We rush inside the house and lock the door.
"Okay, is there anybody else in the neighborhood?" Sam asks.
"No, it's just us." Larry says.
Joanie enters. "Honey, what's happening? What's that noise?" Joanie asks.
"Call 911." Larry says. She doesn't move. "Joanie!" Larry shouts.
"Okay." Joanie says. She picks up the phone and dials.
"I need towels." Dean says.
"Uh, in the closet." Larry tells us.
"Okay, we've gotta lock this place up, come on - doors, windows, fireplace, everything, okay?" Sam says to Matt.
We go upstairs.
"Phones are dead." Joanie says.
"They must have chewed through the phone lines." Dean says. He begins putting towels at the base of the front door when the power goes out. "And the power lines." Dean tells us.
"I need my cell." Larry says. He picks up his cell phone. "No signal." He says.
"You won't get one. They're blanketing the house." Dean tells Larry.
Millions of bugs begin collecting on the doors and windows, covering the entire building. The eight of us watch, waiting.
"So what do we do now?" Larry asks.
"We try to outlast it. Hopefully, the curse will end at sunrise." Sam says.
"Hopefully?" Larry asks.
In the kitchen, Dean searches the cabinets. He finds a can of bug spray and returns to the living room.
"Bug spray?" Joanie asks.
"Trust me." Dean says.
They hear a creaking noise coming from somewhere around the fireplace.
"What is that?" Matt says, as I see Lore talking to the spirits, one by one they tell their stories.
"The flue." Sam says.
"All right, I think everybody needs to get upstairs." Dean says. Suddenly, hundreds of thousands of bugs come into the living room, swarming all around them. We scream and try to protect themselves. Dean uses a lighter with the can of bug spray to make it flare up. The flame wards some of the bugs away. "All right, everybody upstairs! Now! Go, go, go!" Dean says.
He goes upstairs with us into the attic, and Sam closes the door. After a moment of being in the attic, sawdust begins to fall from the ceiling. The buzz of the bees gets louder.
"Oh, God, what's that?" Joanie asks.
"Something's eating through the wood." Dean says.
"Termites." Matt says.
"All right, everybody get back. Get back, get back, get back!" Dean tells us.
The three Pikes move as far into the corner of the attic as they can. A second later, the bugs chew a hole through the ceiling and swarm around the room. Sam, Dean, Harry, Razi, and I frantically try to patch up the hole in the ceiling, but this only works for a minute. Soon, two more holes are chewed, and while Dean tries to ward them off with bug spray, nothing seems to work. The five of them stand in the corner, trying desperately to swat the bugs away for a few minutes. Then, suddenly, the sun rises. Miraculously, the bugs start to leave through the hole in the ceiling. Confused, Sam and Dean go to see what happened. Through the hole, they can see the bugs in the sky, near the sun, in one enormous colony. The eight of them continue watching, relieved but only I know that Lorelai truly broke the curse.
Outside of the Pike Residence - Morning
Dean, Sam, Harry, Razi, Lore, and I approach Larry, who is placing boxes into a moving van.
"What, no goodbye?" Dean asks and I whack him for that.
Girl, it's been a long time that we've been apart
Much too long for a man who needs love
I miss you since I've been away
Babe, it wasn't easy to leave you alone
It's getting harder each time that I go
If I had the choice, I would stay
"Good timing. Another hour and we'd have been gone." Larry tells us.
He shakes all of our hands.
"For good?" Sam asks.
There's no one like you
I can't wait for the nights with you
I imagine the things we'll do
I just want to be loved by you
"Yeah. The development's been put on hold while the government investigates those bones you found. But I'm gonna make damn sure no one lives here again." Larry says.
"You don't seem too upset about it." Sam says.
No one like you
I can't wait for the nights with you
I imagine the things we'll do
I just want to be loved by you
"Well, this has been the biggest financial disaster of my career, but..." Larry starts to say. He looks over at Matt, who is carrying a box to the garbage "...somehow, I really don't care." Larry finishes saying.
Girl, there are really no words strong enough
To describe all my longing for love
I don't want my feelings restrained
Oh babe, I just need you like never before
I just imagine you'd come through this door
You'd take all my sorrow away
They share a smile. Sam walks over to Matt, who is throwing away all his insect paraphernalia.
"What's this?" Sam asks.
There's no one like you
I can't wait for the nights with you
I imagine the things we'll do
I just want to be loved by you
"I don't know. They kind of weird me out now." Matt says.
We all laugh.
No one like you
I can't wait for the nights with you
I imagine the things we'll do I
just want to be loved by you
"Yeah, I should hope so." Sam says.
A few minutes later, Sam joins Dean by the car. They watch Larry and Matt, who are now getting along very well.
No one like you
I can't wait for the nights with you
I imagine the things we'll do
I just want to be loved by you
"I wanna find Dad." Sam says
"Yeah, me too." Dean tells Sam.
"Me three." Lore says.
"Me four." I say.
"Yeah, but I just... I want to apologize to him." Sam tells Dean.
No one like you
I can't wait for the nights with you
I imagine the things we'll do
I just want to be loved by you
"For what?" Dean asks.
"All the things I said to him. He was just doin' the best he could." Sam says.
"Well, don't worry, we'll find him. And then you'll apologize. And then within five minutes, you guys will be at each other's throats." Dean says.
Sam laughs. "Yeah, probably. And Lore, you're grounded." We sit in silence for a few seconds. "Let's hit the road." Sam says.
"Let's. And I agree with Sam, Lorelai." Dean says.
We get in our cars, giving one last wave to Larry and Matt, and drive away, Bobby having already went back to South Dakota, getting help with others to transport the babes..
