Inside the Church
Blue Earth, Minnesota
Third Person POV
A Pastor is at his pulpit. He looks up when a wind ruffles his hair and the candles on the alter.
Meg enters the church.
"Good morning. Can I help you?" the pastor asks Meg.
The Pastor comes down from the pulpit. Meg walks forward and sits in a pew.
"I kinda...I need to talk." Meg tells the pastor
"Well, that's what I'm here for." the pastor says.
"I've done some things. Not good things." Meg tells him.
"Well, there's always forgiveness for us if we seek it." the pastor says.
"For everyone? Are you sure?" Meg asks.
"I like to say salvation was created for sinners. Tell me what's on your mind." the pastor says.
"Well. I've lied. A lot. I've stolen. I've lusted. And the other day I met this man. A nice guy, you know? We had a really good chat, sort of like this...then I slit his throat and ripped his heart out through his chest." Meg says. Meg blinks and her eyes go black. The Pastor jerks back.
"Does that make me a bad person?" Meg asks.
The pastor backs away. "I know what you are. You can't be here. This is hallowed ground." he says.
Meg stands. "Please. Maybe that works in the minor leagues. But not with me." Meg says.
The Pastor runs for the door behind the pulpit and down the stairs. He unlocks a door and rushes inside, sliding a ready to go barricade across the door. He turns to a well-stocked hunter's chest of weapon and starts scrambling for something. Meg kicks open the door with ease, breaking the wood barricading it. The Pastor starts, then throws a knife covered in Sigils at Meg's head. She catches it easily.
"You throw like a girl." Meg tells him.
"What do you want?" he asks her.
"The Winchesters." Meg says.
"I haven't spoken to John Winchester in over a year. You're wasting your time. Even if I did know where they were, I'd never tell you." he says.
"I know." Meg tells him.
Meg slits his throat with his own knife, and he falls back into a chair, gasping, then dying. Meg smiles and walks away.
Manning, Colorado
Lorelai POV
I look across the motel room and at dad's research. The walls are covered with information on the yellow eyed demon. Weather charts, hieroglyphics, pictures, newspaper articles, written notes, a shelf of books and more.
Dad sits at a paper strewn desk, the Colt in front of him. Sam leans against the counter while Dean paces, and Laila is asleep in Hadraniel's arms. Raziel is holding me in his arms, on the bed as we sit watching everything.
"So, this is it. This is everything I know. Look, our whole lives we been searching for this demon, right? Not a trace, just...nothing. Until about a year ago. For the first time I picked up a trail." dad tells us.
"And that's when you took off." Dean says.
"Yeah. That's right. The demon must have come out of hiding, or hibernation." dad says.
"All right so what's this trail you found?" Dean asks dad.
"It starts in Arizona, then New Jersey, California. Houses burned down to the ground. It's going after families, just like it went after us." dad tells us.
"Families with infants?" Sam asks dad.
"Yeah. The night of the kid's six-month birthday." dad tells us.
"I was six months old that night?" Sam asks dad.
"Exactly six months." dad tells Sam.
"So basically, this demon is going after these kids for some reason. The same way it came for me. So, Mom's death...Jessica. It's all because of me?" Sam asks dad.
"We don't know that Sam." Dean tells Sam.
"Oh really? Cause I'd say we're pretty damn sure Dean." Sam tells Dean.
"For the last time, what happened to them was not your fault." Dean says, frustrated.
"Right. It's not my fault but it's my problem." Sam says, shouting.
"No, it's not your problem it's our problem!" Dean tells Sam.
Dad stands. "Okay. That's enough." Dad tells Sam and Dean.
Everyone takes a breath and calms down.
"So, why's he doing it. What does he want?" I ask dad.
"Look I wish I had more answers, I do. I've always been one step behind it. Look, I've never gotten there in time to save..." dad tells me.
Dad looks down, unhappy.
"All right so how do we find if. Before it hits again." Dean tells us.
"There're signs. It took me a while to see the pattern but it's there in the days before these fires' signs crop up in an area. Cattle deaths, temperature fluctuations, electrical storms. And then I went back and checked...and..." dad says.
"These things happened in Lawrence." Dean says.
Dad nods. "A week before your mother died. And in Palo Alto...before Jessica. And these signs, they're starting again." Dad tells us.
"Where?" Sam and I ask.
"Salvation, Iowa." dad tells us.
July 30, 2006
Road
Dad's truck speeds along a misty road, followed closely by the 1967 Impala, 1996 Impala SS, 2004 Ford Mustang Mach, 2005 780-mile Porche Carrera GT, and 1994 Jaguar XJ220. After a few moments he pulls off to the side, the 1967 Impala, 1996 Impala SS, 2004 Ford Mustang Mach, 2005 780-mile Porche Carrera GT, and 1994 Jaguar XJ220 follows, and everyone springs out of their seats.
"God damn it!" dad cusses.
"What is it?" Dean asks Dad.
"Son of a bitch." dad says.
"What is it!" I shout at him when dean doesn't get the answer out of him.
"I just got a call from Caleb." dad tells us.
"Is he okay?" Dean and I ask.
"He's fine. Jim Murphy's dead." dad tells us.
"Pastor Jim? How?" Sam asks Dad.
"His throat was slashed. He bled out. Caleb said they found traces of sulfur at Jim's place." dad tells us.
"A demon." Laila says. Dad nods. "The Demon?" she asks.
"I don't know. Could be he just got careless, he slipped up. Maybe the demon knows we're getting close." dad says.
"What do we do?" Harry asks dad, well his future father-in-law.
"Now we act like every second counts. There's two hospitals and a health centre in this county. We split up, cover more ground. I want records. I want a list of every infant that's going to be six months old in the next week." dad tells us.
"Dad that could be dozens of kids. How do we know which one's the right one?" Sam asks dad.
"We check em all that's how. You got any better ideas?" dad asks Sam.
"No sir." Sam tells dad.
Dad nods at us and we all turn back to their cars. Dad stops, leaning on his trunk. Dean turns back as he opens his door and pauses.
"Dad?" Dean asks Dad.
"Yeah. It's Jim. You know, I can't..." dad says, upset and his face hardens. "This ends now. I'm ending it. I don't care what it takes." dad tells us.
We all get back in our cars and pull back onto the road, speeding into the distance.
John POV
I pull up in front of 'Salvation Children's Hospital'. I open the container between the seats and shuffled through the number of IDs there, selecting one and pinning it to my jacket.
Sam POV
I am sitting in a filing room; a nurse brings me another load of files.
"Here you go officer." the nurse tells me.
"Thank you." I tell her.
"You're welcome." the nurse tells me.
I continue copying birth certificate information into my notebook.
Dean POV
A pretty receptionist hands a file to a hospital worker, then looks down at her clipboard. She looks up again as I walk in and pause and look around. She smiles as I turn to her desk. I note her gorgeousness and raise my eyebrows.
"Hi. Is there anything I can do for you?" the receptionist asks me.
"Oh God yes." I tell her, smiling.
She smiles and looks down.
I hold up his ID. "Only I'm uh...working right now, so..." I tell her.
Sam POV
I come out of Salvation Medical Centre, flipping through my notebook, then clutch my head as a vision hits me. The Yellow Eyed Demon is in a baby's nursery. I flash to a mother looking out the window, I hear a train, and then sees the demon again. As soon as the vision finishes, and I can focus again I quickly pulls out a map.
Laila POV
Later Sam is in a park, Harry, Raziel, Lorelai, and I met him there, checking his map again. As he does, we get the vision flashes again, I don't know why I'm getting vision why Lore has vision, or Sam has them. When it's over he realizes the house from the vision is in front of him. The woman from his vision pushes a pram along the road while holding an umbrella. He approaches before Lore and I can stop him.
"Hi. Here, let me hold that for you. You look like you don't need that anymore." Sam tells the woman.
"Oh. Thanks." the woman tells Sam.
She closes her umbrella while Sam holds her pram. He looks inside.
"She's gorgeous. Is she yours?" Sam asks her.
"Yeah." the woman tells Sam.
"Oh wow, hi!" Sam says to the baby, gushing. "Oh sorry, I'm rude. I'm Sam. Me and my family just moved in up the block." Sam tells the woman.
"Hi. I'm Monica. This is Rosie." Monica says, introducing herself.
"Rosie? Hi Rosie." Sam says to baby Rosie.
"So, welcome to the neighborhood." Monica tells us.
"Thanks. She's such a good baby! And I should know! I have four of my own." Sam tells Monica.
"I know, I mean she...she never cries. She just stares at everybody. Sometimes she looks at you and I swear it's...it's like she's reading your mind." Monica tells us.
"What about you Monica? Have you lived here long?" I ask Monica.
"My husband and I, we bought our place just before Rosie was born." Monica tells me.
"And how old's Rosie?" Lorelai asks her.
"She's six months today. She's big right? Growing like a weed." Monica tells us.
"Yeah. Monica..." Sam says, distracted.
"Yeah?" Monica asks Sam.
"Just ahhh, just take care of yourself, okay?" Sam asks Monica.
"Yeah, you too Sam. We'll see you around." Monica tells Sam.
As Monica turns to her house a station wagon pulls into the drive, honking.
"There's Daddy!" Monica tells Rosie.
The vision returns again. The clock in the bedroom stops, the nursery rhyme playing stops, a wind sweeps through. A black figure approaches the bed. Monica pushes the door open from the hallway and sees the figure standing over her daughter's bed.
"What are you..." Monica starts to ask.
The figure turns to her. She is pulled back to the wall and slides up it to the ceiling. Blood starts dripping from her stomach.
"Rosie!" Monica screams.
The room bursts into flame.
Inside the Motel Room
Sam sits at the table, rubbing his temples, Henry, Prim, and Liam want to help while Cat is crying. Dean and dad sit on the end of each bed. Rhiannon sits on the bed with Dean, Gwendolyn, Victoria, Joan, Gryphon, and Altair. While Evannder, and Alexander sit with dad.
"A vision." dad says, flatly.
"Yes. I saw the demon burning a woman on the ceiling." Sam says, slowly and painfully.
"And you think this is going to happen to this woman you met because..." dad says.
"Because these things happen exactly the way I see them. Sam tells Dad.
"It started out as nightmares. Then it started happening while he was awake." Dean tells dad.
Dean rises and crosses to the counter behind Sam to get more coffee.
"Yeah. It's like the closer I get to anything to do with the demon the stronger the visions get." Sam tells dad, wincing.
"All right." dad says. "When were you going to tell me about this?" dad asks Dean.
Sam, Dean, Lore, Harry, Razi, and I stop and turn to look at dad.
"We didn't know what it meant." Dean tells dad.
"All right, something like this starts happening to your brother, you pick up the phone and you call me." dad tells us.
Dean dumps the coffee jug and cup back on the counter and strides toward dad.
"Call you? Are you kidding me? Dad, I called you from Lawrence all right? Sam called you when I was dying. I mean, getting you on the phone? I got a better chance of winning the lottery." Dean tells dad.
"You're right. Although I'm not too crazy about this new tone of yours, you're right. I'm sorry." dad tells Dean.
"Look guys, visions or no visions, fact is, we know the demon is coming tonight. And this family's gonna go through the same hell we went through." Sam tells dad.
"We would kill not to have visions." I tell Lore in a whisper tone, but dad hears me.
"No, they're not. No one is, ever again. And you three are never going to hide anything from me again." dad says, talking about me, Lore, and Sam.
Sam's phone rings.
"Hello?" Sam asks the person.
"Sam?" Meg asks.
"Who is this?" Sam asks Meg, not recognizing her voice at first.
"Think real hard it will come to you." Meg tells Sam.
"Meg." Sam says.
Dean, Lore, Harry, Razi, Dad, and I start and turn to Sam.
"Last time I saw you, you fell out of a window." Sam tells Meg.
"Yeah, no thanks to you. That really hurt my feelings by the way." Meg tells Sam.
"Just your feelings? That was a seven-story drop." Sam tells Meg.
"Lemme speak to your dad." Meg tells Sam.
Sam looks at dad. "My Dad. I don't know where my dad is." Sam tells Meg, lying.
"It's time for the grown-ups to talk Sam, let me speak to him now." Meg tells Sam.
Sam hesitates then hands the phone to dad.
"This is John." dad tells Meg.
"Howdy John. I'm Meg. I'm a friend of your boys. I'm also the one who watched Jim Murphy choke on his own blood...still there John-boy?" Meg asks dad.
"I'm here." dad tells her.
"Well, that was yesterday. Today I'm in Lincoln. Visiting another old friend of yours. He wants to say hi..." Meg tells dad.
Third Person POV
The POV changes back to Meg to reveal a man tied to a chair. Meg holds the phone to his ear.
"John, whatever you do don't give..." the man starts to say.
Meg pulls the phone away, putting her finger on her lips in a shhh-ing noise and smiling.
Lore POV
"Caleb?" dad asks.
Sam, Dean, Harry, Laila, Razi, and I react to the name instantly, going on alert.
"You listen to me. He's got nothing to do with anything. You let him go." dad tells Meg.
"We know you have the colt, John." Meg tells dad.
"I don't know what you're talking about." dad tells her.
"Oh, okay. Well listen to this." Meg tells him.
Meg slits Caleb's throat and holds the phone out. Dad can hear him gasping and drowning in his own blood.
"Caleb. Caleb!" dad shouts.
"You hear that? That's the sound of your friend dying. Now let's try this again. We know you have the gun John, word travels fast. So as far as we're concerned you just declared war. And this is what war looks like. It has casualties." Meg tells dad.
"I'm gonna kill you, you know that?" dad tells her.
"Oh, John please, mind your blood pressure. So, this is the thing. We're going to keep doing what we're doing. And your friends, anyone who has ever helped you, gave you shelter, anyone you ever loved. They'll all die unless you give us that gun." she tells dad.
Dad is quiet, thinking. We are all close by his side.
"I'm waiting Johnny, better answer before the buzzer.' she tells him.
"Okay." dad tells her.
"Sorry? I didn't quite get that." Meg asks dad.
"I said OKAY, I'll bring you the colt.' dad tells her. Should have I told my brothers and father about the phone call Caleb would give us if he was in danger, and so, we hear both sides of the conversation?
"There's a warehouse in Lincoln, on the corner of Wabash and Lake. You're gonna meet me there." Meg tells dad.
"It's gonna take me about a day's drive to get there." dad tells Meg.
"Meet me there at midnight tonight." Meg tells dad.
"That's impossible. I can't get there in time and I can't just carry a gun on the plane." dad tells her.
"Oh. Well, I guess your friends die don't they. If you do decide to make it, come alone." Meg tells dad.
Meg POV
I hang up and turn to Caleb's body. "What the hell are you looking at." I ask the body.
Lore POV
"So, you think Meg is a demon?" Sam asks dad.
"Either that, or she's possessed by one. It doesn't really matter." dad tells Sam.
"What do we do?" Dean asks dad.
"I'm going to Lincoln." dad tells us.
"What?" I ask dad.
"It doesn't look like we have a choice. If I don't go, a lot of people die, our friends die." dad tells me.
"Dad, the demon is coming tonight. For Monica and her family. That gun is all we got; you can't just hand it over." Laila tells dad.
"Who said anything about handing it over? Look, besides us and a coupla of vampires no one's really seen the gun, no one knows what it looks like." dad tells us.
"So, what, you're just going to pick up a ringer at a pawn shop?" Dean asks dad.
"Antique store." dad tells Dean.
"You're going to hand Meg a fake gun and hope she doesn't notice?" I ask dad, wanting to declare him a mad man.
"Look, as long as it's close, she shouldn't be able to tell the difference." dad tells me.
"Yeah, but for how long? What happens when she figures it out?" Dean asks dad.
"I just...I just need to buy a few hours, that's all." dad tells Dean.
"You mean for Dean, Laila, Lore, and me. You want us to stay here, and kill this demon by ourselves?" Sam asks dad.
"No Sam. I want to stop losing people we love. I want you to go to school, and for you to have a home, I want Dean to have a home, for him and his kids, just as your home will be for you and your kids. I want...I want Mary and Angel alive. It's just...I just want this to be over." Dad tells Sam.
Rhiannon Bronwyn Winchester POV
Muddy Back Road
Sam and granddad stand at the back of his truck, checking weapons. The 1967 Impala, 1996 Impala SS, 2004 Ford Mustang Mach, 2005 780-mile Porche Carrera GT, and 1994 Jaguar XJ220 come toward them, and dad, Lore, Laila, Harry, and Razi gets out.
"You get it?" Grandfather Winchester asks dad.
Dad pulls a brown paper bag out of his pocket and hands it to grandfather. Grandfather pulls out an antique gun.
"You know this is a trap don't you. That's why Meg wants you to come alone?" Aunt Laila asks grandfather.
"I can handle her. I got a whole arsenal loaded. Holy water, Mandaic, amulets..." Grandfather tells dad.
"Dad..." Aunt Lorelai tells grandfather.
"What?" Grandpa John asks dad.
"Promise us something." daddy tells grandpa.
"What's that?" Grandpa John asks dad.
"This thing goes south just...get the hell out. Don't get yourself killed all right, you're no good to us dead." dad tells grandfather.
"Same goes for you." Grandfather says. There is a long pause. "All right listen to me. They made the bullets special for this colt. There's only four of them left. Without them this gun is useless. You make every shot count." Grandfather tells dad.
"Yes sir." Uncle Sam tells Grandpa.
"Been waiting a long time for this fight. Now it's here I'm not gonna be in it. It's up to you boys now. It's your fight, you finish this. You finish what I started. Understand?" Grandfather asks them.
Grandfather John hands Dean the colt.
"We'll see you soon Dad." Aunt Lorelai tells him.
"I'll see you later." Grandfather tells us.
Grandpa John gets in the truck and leaves. Dad, Sam, Harry, Razi, Lore, Laila, and I stand watching him pull away.
"Later." I whisper to the wind.
John POV
Warehouse
I pull up in my truck, get out and check the antique gun, then I take out rosary beads and a flask of holy water. I start looking around and see a tank on the roof. I am jogging along an alley, stop to check the pipes that run along its walls and then I continue.
Outside, Monica's House
Dean POV
Sam and I sit in the 1967 Impala, the Colt between us. We watch through the window as Monica and her husband finish dinner.
"Maybe we could tell em it was a gas leak. Might get em out of the house for a few hours." Sam tells me.
"Yeah, and how many times has that actually worked for us?" I ask Sammy.
"Yeah." Sam says. He thinks some more. "We could always tell em the truth." Sammy tells me, Laila Lorelai, Harry, and Razi at the window in their cars, Harry in the 1996 Impala SS, Razi in the 2004 Ford Mustang Mach, Lorelai in the 2005 780-mile Porche Carrera GT, and Laila in the 1994 Jaguar XJ220.
Everyone just looks at Sam for a long moment, one eyebrow raised.
"Nah!" we all say, together.
"I know I know. I just...with what's coming for these folks..." Sammy tells me.
"Sam we only got one move and you know it, all right? We gotta wait for that demon to show itself and then we get it before it gets them." I tell Sam.
We all look back at the house for a while.
"I wonder how Dad's doing." Sam tells me.
"I'd feel a lot better if we were there backing him up." I tell Sam.
"I'd feel a lot better if he were here backing us up." Sam tells me.
We keep watching the house.
John POV
Warehouse
I am standing on the roof next to the tank. Meg appears in the foreground. She slowly looks around then up at the water tank. I am not there, not to her knowledge. She moves inside. I am behind the tank. I check the coast is clear, then climbs the ladder. I open the lid, hold the rosary up, speaks in Latin and drop the rosary into the water.
Laila POV
Monica's House
"This is weird." Sam tells Dean.
"What?" Dean asks Sammy.
"After all of these years we're finally here. It doesn't seem real." Sam tells us.
"We just gotta keep our heads and do our job, like always." I tell Sammy.
"Yeah, but this isn't like always." Sammy tells me.
"True." Dean tells Sam.
"Dean, Lorelai, Laila, Harry, Raziel...ah...I wanna thank you." Sam tells us.
"For what?" Dean asks Sam, and the rest of us listen.
"For everything. You've always had my back you know? Even when I couldn't count on anyone, I could always count on you guys. And ah...I don't know I just wanted to let you know, just in case." Sam tells us.
"Whoa. whoa, whoa, are you kidding me?" Dean asks Sammy.
"What?" Sammy asks us, seeing Lore and I are about to cry and Harry and Razi are glaring at him.
"Don't say just in case something happens to you. I don't wanna hear that freaking speech man. Nobody's dying tonight. Not us, not that family, nobody. Except that demon. That evil son of a bitch ain't getting any older than tonight, you understand me?" Dean tells Sammy.
John POV
Inside the Warehouse
Meg stands in the middle of the room. She hears a creak and turns. I am walking towards her. He stops a few feet away.
"John, you made it. Too bad really, I was hoping to kill more of your friends." Meg tells me.
"Sorry to disappoint." I tell Meg.
"I can see where you boys get their good looks. Though I must admit, considering what they say about you I thought you'd be...taller." Meg tells me.
I just stare at her.
"Well, aren't you the chatty one. You wanna get to business? Fine. Why don't you just hand over the gun." Meg tells me.
"If I give you the gun, how do I get out of here?" I ask her.
"If you're as good as they say you are, I'm sure you'll figure something out." Meg tells me.
"Maybe I'll just shoot you." I tell Meg.
"You wanna shoot me baby? Go ahead. There's more where I came from." Meg tells me.
Another demon, a guy, walks out of the shadows.
"Who the hells that?" I ask her.
"He's not nearly as much fun as I am I can tell you that. So, I suggest you give us the gun." Meg tells me.
I stare at the other demon for a long moment, then back at Meg.
"Now!" Meg yells at me.
I hand over the gun to Meg, butt first. She checks it out.
"This is the colt?" Meg asks me.
I nod.
Meg hands the gun to the other demon. "What do you think?" she asks him.
The other demon looks at it, points it at the ceiling, cocks it...and shoots Meg in the chest.
Meg staggers back and grabs at the wound. "You shot me! I can't believe you just shot me!" Meg yells at him.
The other demon looks at me. "It's a fake." he tells Meg.
He throws the gun away. Meg also turns to look at me.
"You're dead John. Your boys are dead." Meg tells me.
I back slowly away. "I've never used the gun. How could I know it wouldn't work?" I lie to her.
Meg advances. "I'm so not in the mood for this. I've just been shot." Meg tells me.
"Well then, I guess you're lucky the gun wasn't real." I tell her.
"That's funny John. We're going to strip the skin from your bones, but that was funny." Meg tells me.
A noise of gas escaping distracts Meg for a split second and I run into the other room, locking the door and going down a hatch into the alley I was in earlier, lined with pipes. Meg and the other demon kick open the door and follow. I reach the other end and turns on a tap. Water starts gushing over the floor. The other demon, now in front of Meg, pauses, then continues. As he walks through the water his feet begin steaming and he jumps backwards, yelling.
"Holy water John. Real cute." Meg tells me.
I take off.
Laila POV
Outside of Monica's House
Dean is holding his phone to his ear. "Dad's not answering." Deano tells us.
"Maybe Meg was late. Maybe cell receptions bad." Sam tells Dean.
"Yeah well." Deano starts to pout.
The radio starts chattering with static.
"Dean wait. Listen." I tell Dean.
Sam rolls the dial on the radio, hearing more static come and go. The wind picks up and the lights in the house flicker. Dean turns to look at Sam, Lorelai, Razi, Hadraniel, and I.
"It's coming." Sam tells us.
We jump out of our cars.
John POV
Warehouse
I make it back to my truck to find all the tires slashed.
"Damn it." I say.
I run around the side of the building.
Laila POV
Dean uses a card to slide the lock on the front door open and we enter silently. As we approach the lounge, Sam first, Harry second, Razi third, me fourth, Lorelai fifth, Dean last, Dean is confronted by Monica's husband. He swings a bat at Dean's head and misses, smashing a lamp.
"Get out of my house!" Mr. Holt told us.
Dean quickly closes in and grapples with him, grabbing the bat.
"Get out of my house!" Charles Holt tells us.
"Please, please. Mr. Holt please." Sam starts to speak to Mr. Holt.
Dean easily takes control, swinging him against the wall and holding the bat across his throat.
"Be quiet and listen to us. Be quiet and listen. We are trying to help you." Dean and Harry tell Charles sharply.
"Charlie? Is everything okay?" Monica asks from upstairs.
"Monica get the baby!" Charles yells to Monica.
"Don't go in the nursery!" Sam, Lorelai, and I yell at the same time.
"You stay away from her!" Charles tells us.
He struggles to get away from Dean, Razi, and Harry. Dean backhands him, knocking him unconscious, and puts him over his shoulder in a fireman's lift.
Upstairs
Monica, in her nightgown as she was in our vision, pushes the door to the nursery open. A dark figure stands over Rosie's crib.
"What are you..." Monica starts to say.
The figure raises his hand and Monica is flung back against the wall. Sam, Lore, and I race up the stairs and along the corridor as Monica slides up the wall and onto the ceiling. We enter the room, and the dark figure turns to us, yellow eyes shining. Sam hesitates, frozen and staring.
"Rosie!" Monica screams after I fire an arrow
Sam raises the Colt and pulls the trigger. The demon disappears into smoke. Monica, screaming, falls to the floor.
"Where the hell did it go!" Sam asks, shouting.
"My baby!" Monica screams. Monica stands, trying to move toward the crib, and is caught by Sam.
"My baby!" Monica screams.
"No wait!" Sam says, stopping her.
Monica is fighting Sam. "MY BABY!" Monica screams.
Dean runs past us to the crib. "Take her and go!" Dean shouts at us.
"Rosie!" Monica shouts
"Come on." Sam tells Monica.
"My baby!" Monica tells us.
We force her out of the room. "Dean's got her." Sam tells her.
Dean quickly wraps the blankets around the baby and pulls her up as the crib explodes into flame. He races out of the room.
John POV
Warehouse
I run down a dead end and stop, looking around and gasping for breath. I grab for my phone but as I raise it, I am flung against the wall, losing my grip on the phone. I hit the wall, groaning in pain. The male demon appears as I begin to slide up the wall and stands in front of him, smiling.
Dean POV
Monica's House
The nursery window explodes outwards, flames shooting out. The camera pans down to a smoke-filled front doorway and Monica appears, guided by Sam, Laila, and Lorelai. All of them are coughing. Charles staggers up from where he was lying on the grass.
"You get away from my family." Mr. Holt tells us.
"No Charlie don't. They saved us." Monica tells her husband.
I run out to join them, holding the baby.
Monica begins to cry. "I mean they saved us." Monica tells Charles.
Monica takes the baby from me, and her husband puts his arms around both of them.
"Thank you." Monica tells us, worried about Laila and Lorelai when they begin to cough. Thankfully, the firefighters come, and paramedics as well and they help clear Laila and Lorelai's lungs.
Devastated, Sam and I turn back to the burning house. The demon is silhouetted in the burning nursery, standing completely still.
Sam starts to go back inside. "It's still in there!" Sam tells me.
I grab Sam. "Sam. Sam, no." I tell Sammy.
Sam struggles. "Dean let me go, it's still in there." Sam tells me.
"No. It's burning to the ground, it's suicide." I tell Sam.
"I don't care." Sam yells at me.
"I do!" I tell Sam.
We both look back up as the flames rise again and the demon disappears.
Inside the Motel Room
I pace while holding the phone to my ear, listening to it ring out. Sam, Laila, Lorelai, Harry, Razzi, and the kids sit on the beds.
"Come on Dad, answer your phone damn it." I say frustrated.
I hang up. "Somethings wrong." I tell the others.
Sam stares at the wall, giving great bitchface.
"You hear me? Somethings wrong." I tell Sam.
"If you had just let me go in there, I coulda ended all this." Sam tells me.
"Sam, the only thing you would have ended was your life." I tell Sam.
"You don't know that." Sam tells me.
I walk toward the bed. "So what, you're just willing to sacrifice yourself, is that it?" I ask Sam.
Sam stands up "Yeah. Yeah, you're damn right I am." Sam tells Deano.
"Well, that's not going to happen, not as long as I'm around." I tell Sammy.
"What the hell are you talking about Dean, we've been searching for this demon our whole lives. It's the only thing we've ever cared about." Sammy tells me.
"Sam I wanna waste it. I do. Okay? But it's not worth dying over." I tell Sam.
"What?" Sam asks me.
"I mean it. If hunting this demon means getting yourself killed, then I hope we never find the damn thing. And what about your kids?" I ask him, Sammy seeming to forget he now has four mouths to feed.
"That thing killed Jess. That thing killed Mom." Sam tells me.
"You said yourself once, that no matter what we do, they're gone, and they're never coming back." I tell Sam.
Sam totally loses it, grabs me and shoves me hard against the wall.
"Don't you say that, not you! Not after all this don't you say that." Sam says, angry and upset.
"Sam look. The seventeen of us...that's all we have...and it's all I have. Sometimes I feel like I'm barely holding it together man...and without you or Dad... or Lore, Laila, or the kids." I tell Sam quietly.
"Dad." Sam says, upset.
Sam lets go and turns away, walking across the room. I stay where I am, taking deep breaths.
Sam has tears in his eyes. "He should have called by now. Try him again." Sam tells me.
I raise my phone.

Third Person POV
John's phone sits on a bench, ringing. Meg wanders over and picks it up. She looks at the screen, smiles to herself and answers.
"You boys really screwed up this time." Meg tells Deano.
"Where is he?" Dean asks, angry.
"You're never going to see your father again." Meg tells Deano.
