Crash Site - Night

August 2, 2006

Sam POV

"Bad Moon Rising" is still playing on the radio as we zoom in on the wrecked Impalas.

The demons-possessing-truck-drivers steps out of their trucks and walk over. I see dad and Dean, both unconscious, then to I swallow, barely awake. The demons pull the driver's side door off its hinges to reveal me pointing the Colt at them.

"Back. Or I'll kill you, I swear to god." I tell them.

"You won't. You're saving that bullet for someone else." one says.

I cock the gun.

"You wanna bet?" I ask them.

They smile; the black demon-ichor pours out of the men, who collapse. I uncock the gun and drop my head back in relief.

"Oh my god!" the men say.

"Dad?" I ask.

"Did I do this?" the men ask.

"Dad! Dean? Dean! Harry! Razzie!" I call.

Crash Site - Day

August 3, 2006

A rescue helicopter descends to the site, and all five of us are being loaded onto stretchers. Dad, Dean, Harry, Razzie and I are still unconscious, I am awake.

"Significant passenger side intrusion. Unresponsive. BP is 180 over 60, heartrate 95, 95." the paramedics say.

"Tell me if they're okay!" I tell them.

"You have to stay still!" the paramedic woman tells me.

"Are they even alive?" I ask her.

Hospital - Day

Dean POV

In a room, I sit up, I work my jaw, and get out of bed. I am wearing a white t-shirt, blue hospital pants, and nothing else. I go into the hallway.

"Sam? Dad? Anybody?" I ask, searching for them, hearing music coming from a room close by.

"Maybe it's intuition
But some things you just don't question
Like in your eyes, I see my future in an instant
And there it goes
I think I found my best friend
I know that it might sound
More than a little crazy but I believe" I hear singing.

I go down the stairs to the front of the hospital and finds a nurse's station.

"Excuse me. Hi. I, uh, I think I was in a car accident, my dad, brother, and my brothers-in-law, I just need to find them." I tell the nurse.

The nurse is unresponsive.

"Hello?" I ask her, snapping my fingers.

I go back upstairs, panicked, and find:

"I knew I loved you before I met you
I think I dreamed you into life
I knew I loved you before I met you
I have been waiting all my life." I hear the singing again.

Dean's Room

Spirit!me sees me own body on the bed, intubated and dying. I am shocked.

Dean's Room

Still reeling from the shock of seeing his unconscious body, I turn, relieved, as Sam enters. Sam stops at the door and stares at his brother's body, breathing heavily.

"There's just no rhyme or reason
Only the sense of completion
And in your eyes
I see the missing pieces I'm searching for
I think I've found my way home
I know that it might sound
More than a little crazy but I believe" I hear.

"Sammy! You look good. Considering." I tell Sammy or well try to.

"Oh, no." Sammy says.

"Man, tell me you can hear me." I tell him.

"I knew I loved you before I met you
I think I dreamed you into life
I knew I loved you before I met you
I have been waiting all my life
Ooh, ooh, ooh" I hear Laila sing.

"How's dad? Is he okay? Come on, you're the psychic. Give me some ghost whispering or something!" I ask Sammy.

The doctor enters.

"Your father's awake. You can go see him if you like." the doctor tells Sammy.

"Thank God." I say.

"Doc, what about my brother and in-laws?" Sammy asks the doc.

"A thousand angels dance around you
Ooh, ooh, ooh
I am complete now that I've found you" Laila sings.

"Well, he sustained serious injury: blood loss, contusions to his liver and kidney. But it's the head trauma I'm worried about. There're early signs of cerebral edema. And your in-laws, Harry has a Intracranial hematoma along with a broken leg, and Raziel has a Skull fracture with a broken arm." the doc says.

"Well, what can we do?" Sam asks the doc.

"Well, we won't know his full condition until he wakes up. If he wakes up." the doc tells Sammy.

"I knew I loved you before I met you
I think I dreamed you into life
I knew I loved you before I met you
I have been waiting all my life" Laila sings, and for the first time, I notice the sound of crying.

"If?" Sam asks the doc.

"I have to be honest —" the doc starts to say.

"Oh, screw you, Doc, I'm waking up." I overlap the doc.

"I knew I loved you before I met you
I think I dreamed you into life
I knew I loved you before I met you
I have been waiting all my life" I hear.

"Most people with this degree of injury wouldn't have survived this long. He's fighting very hard. But you need to have realistic expectations." the doc says.

"I knew I loved you before I met you (ooh, ooh, ooh)
I knew I loved you
I knew I loved you before I met you (ooh, ooh, ooh)
I knew I loved you" is heard.

"Come on, Sam. Go find some hoodoo priest to lay some mojo on me. Sam?" I ask Sammy.

"I knew I loved you before I met you (oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh)
I knew I loved you before I met you (yeah)
I knew I loved you" Laila sings.

John's Room - Day

Rhiannon POV

Grandpa John is lying in a hospital bed, his arm in a sling. Awkwardly one-handed, he pulls something out of his wallet.

"Here. Give them my insurance." Grandpa John tells Uncle Sammy.

Uncle Sammy takes the card Grandpa John gave him, smiling as he reads it.

"Elroy McGillicutty?" Uncle Sam asks Grandpa John.

"And his two loving sons, and two loving daughters, with their husbands. So, what else did the doctor say about Dean, Harry, and Raziel?" Grandpa John asks Uncle Sammy.

"Nothing. Look. The doctors won't do anything, then we'll have to, that's all. I don't know, I'll find some hoodoo priest and lay some mojo on them." Uncle Sam tells Grandpa John.

"We'll look for someone." Grandpa John tells him.

"Yeah." Uncle Sammy tells Grandpa.

"But Sam, I don't know if we're gonna find anyone." Grandpa tells Sammy.

"Why not? I found that faith healer before." Sammy tells Grandpa.

"All right, that was, that was one in a million." Grandpa tells him.

"So what? Do we just sit here with our thumbs up our ass?" Sammy asks Grandpa.

"No, I said we'd look. All right? I'll check under every stone." Grandpa says. There's a beat of silence. "Where's the Colt?" Grandpa asks Sammy.

"Your son is dying, and you're worried about the Colt?" Sammy and I ask Grandpa.

"We're hunting this demon, and maybe it's hunting us too. That gun may be our only card." Grandpa tells us.

"It's in the trunk. They dragged the car to a yard off of I-83." Sammy tells Grandpa.

"All right. You've gotta clean out that trunk before some junk man sees what's inside." Grandpa tells Sammy.

"I already called Bobby. He's like an hour out, he's gonna tow the Impala back to his place." Sammy tells Grandpa.

"All right. You, you go meet up with Bobby. you get that Colt, and you bring it back to me. And you watch out for hospital security." Grandpa tells us.

"I think I've got it covered." Sammy tells Grandpa.

He gets up to leave; grandpa stops him, picking up a sheet of paper.

"Hey. Here. I made a list of things I need, have Bobby pick them up for me." grandpa tells Sammy.

"Acacia? Oil of Abramelin? What's this stuff for?" Sam reads, then asks.

"Protection." grandpa tells us.

"Hey, Dad? You know, the demon, he said he had plans for me, and children like me. Do you have any idea what he meant by that?" Sam asks grandpa.

"No, I don't." grandpa says, lying, only I can tell.

Sam leaves, shutting the door to reveal Dean, who has been leaning behind it.

"Well, you sure know something." Spirit dad says, unknowingly to us.

Junkyard - Day

August 4, 2006

Sam POV

I look down at the mangled cars. Bobby is there as well, a look of sadness on his face.

"Oh man, Dean and Harry are gonna be pissed." I tell Bobby.

"Look, Sam. They... they just aren't worth a tow. I say we empty the trunks, sell the rest for scrap." Bobby tells me.

"No. Dean and Harry would kill us if we did that, and you know it. When they get better, they're gonna want to fix them." I tell Bobby.

"There's nothing to fix. Their frame's a pretzel, and their engine's ruined. There're barely any parts worth salvaging." Bobby tells me.

"Listen to me, Bobby. If there's only one working part, that's enough. We're not just going to give up on..." I tell him.

"Okay. You got it." Bobby says quietly.

"Here, uh, Dad asked for you to get this stuff for him." I tell Bobby.

I hand over the list. Bobby looks at it, frowning.

"What's John want with this?" Bobby asks me.

"Protection from the demon?" I ask Bobby.

Bobby gives me a look.

"What?" I ask Bobby.

"Oh, nothing, it's just, uh -" Bobby starts to say.

"Bobby? What's going on?" I ask him.

Dean's Room - Day

Laila POV

Dad is sitting by Dean's bed; Spirit Dean stands nearby unknown to us, okay he would be unknown to dad but to my and Lorelai's grief due to the fact our fiancés are in a coma, our gifts are blocked.

"Come on, Dad. You've gotta help me. I've gotta get better, I've gotta get back in there. I mean, you haven't called a soul for help. You haven't even tried. Aren't you going to do anything? Aren't you even going to say anything?" Dean's spirit unknowingly asks dad as he starts walking around the bed.

"I've done everything you have ever asked me. Everything. I have given everything I've ever had. And you're just going to sit there and you're going to watch me die? I mean, what the hell kind of father are you?" Dean's spirit asks dad, but we don't know. He pauses, hearing something.

"What is that?" Dean asks us, but we don't hear him. Dean goes into the hallway and a spirit whooshed past him. He jumps back. "I take it you didn't see that." Dean asks dad, who of course doesn't hear him.

Dean stalks the spirit down the hallways. He sees it go into a back hallway where a woman is lying on the floor, choking.

"Help! Help!" a woman says, unknowingly.

"Hey! I need some help in here!" Dean yells for help, then sees angelic figures trying to help the woman. "I can't... breathe!" the woman says. She pants loudly, trying desperately to breathe, then goes silent. Dean, leans over her, looking on helplessly.

John's Room

Dean POV

Sam stalks into the room with a duffel bag; I meet him at the door and start trying to talk to him.

"Sammy! Tell me you can frickin' hear me, man, there's something in the hospital. Now, you've got to bring me back and we've got to hunt this thing. Sam!" I start practically yelling at Sam.

"You're quiet." dad tells Sammy.

Sam turns, fuming, and hurls the bag onto the bed with a crash. "Did you think I wouldn't find out?" Sam asks dad.

"What are you talking about?" dad asks Sam.

"That stuff from Bobby, you don't use it to ward off a demon, you use it to summon one. You're planning on bringing the demon here, aren't you? Having some stupid macho showdown?!" Sam asks dad, shouting.

"I have a plan, Sam." dad tells Sammy.

"That's exactly my point! Dean, Harry, and Razzie are dying, and you have a plan! You know what, you care more about killing this demon than you do saving your own son and future son-in-laws!" Sam tells dad.

"No, no, no, guys, don't do this!" I try to tell them.

"Do not tell me how I feel! I am doing this for Dean." Dad tells Sammy.

"How? How is revenge going to help him? You're not thinking about anybody but yourself, it's the same selfish obsession!" Sam tells dad.

"Come on guys, don't do this!" I try to tell them.

"You know, it's funny, I thought it was your obsession too! This demon killed your mother, killed your girlfriend. You begged me to be part of this hunt. Now if you'd killed that damn thing when you had the chance, none of this would have happened." dad tells Sammy.

"It was possessing you, Dad, I would have killed you too." Sam tells dad.

"Yeah, and your brother, Harry, and Razzie would be awake right now." dad tells Sammy.

"Shut up, both of you!" I try telling them.

"Go to hell." Sam tells dad.

"I should have never taken you along in the first place. I knew it was a mistake, I knew I was wrong —" dad starts to say.

"I said SHUT UP!" I say, screaming. I smack a glass of water off the table, and it goes flying, crashing to the floor. There's a beat of silence. Sam and dad look at each other, confused, I look stunned.

"Dude, I full-on Swayze'd that mother." I tell myself. I crumple up in pain, flickering. Nurses and doctors start running by in the hallway.

"What is it?" I ask the passing nurses.

"Something's going on out there." dad tells Sammy. He jerks his head indicating "Go find out" to Sam.

Dean's Room

Monitors are beeping, a doctor and some nurses are surrounding my body, resuscitating me.

"All clear." the doc says.

Sam is huddling in the doorway, tears in his eyes. "No." Sam says.

"Still no pulse." the nurse says.

"Okay, let's go again, 360." doc says.

"Charging." the nurse says.

I see Sam's face in the doorway, crying and fidgeting; I come slowly behind him. I see a ghostly figure floating over the body lying in the bed.

"You get the hell away from me." I tell the figure. I run to the bed and faces the thing down, yelling. "I said get back!" I tell it.

Sam blinks, looking confused, as if he's heard something.

I grab for the spirit; I latch on momentarily before it hurls him back and then soars out of the room. The monitors slow, quiet.

"We have a pulse. We're back into sinus rhythm." the nurse says.

I run into the hallway, looking for the spirit; it's vanished. Sam sighs in relief and backs into the hallway, watching from there. I come back and stand by Sam.

"Don't worry, Sammy. I'm not going anywhere. I'm getting that thing before it gets me. It's some kind of spirit, but I could grab it. And if I can grab it, I can kill it." I tell Sammy.

Sam looks over to where I was, confused. I wander the halls, then I hear a girl yelling.

"Can't you see me? Why won't you look at me?" a girl is yelling.

"Now what?" I ask.

"Somebody talk to me! Say something, please!" she yells.

"Can you see me?" I ask her.

"Yeah." the girl tells me.

"All right, just, uh, calm down. What's your name?" I ask her.

"Tessa." she tells me.

"Okay, good, Tessa, I'm Dean." I tell Tessa.

"What's happening to me? Am - am I dead?" Tessa asks me.

"That sort of depends." I tell her.

Outside of Tessa's Room

Tessa and I stand outside a room, watching what is apparently Tessa's body, hooked up to tubes and machines. A woman sits by the bed, holding her hand.

"I don't understand. I just came in for an appendectomy." Tessa tells me.

"Well, I hate to bear bad news, but I think there were some complications." I tell Tessa.

"It's just a dream, that's all. It's just a very weird, unbelievably vivid dream." Tessa chants to herself.

"Tessa. It's not a dream." I tell her.

"Then what else could it be?" Tessa asks me.

'You ever heard of an out of body experience?" I ask Tessa.

"What are you, some new agey guy?" Tessa asks me.

"You see me messing with crystals or listening to Yanni? It's actually a very old idea. Got a lot of different names: Bilocation, crisis apparition, fetches... I think it's happening to us. And if it is, it means that we're spirits of people close to death." I tell her.

"So, we're going to die?" Tessa asks me.

"No. Not if we hold on. Our bodies can get better, we can snap right back in there and wake up." I tell Tessa.

John's Room

August 5, 2006

Sam POV

"What do you mean, you felt something?" dad asks me.

"I mean it felt like, like Dean. Like he was there, just out of eyeshot or something. I don't know if it's my psychic thing or what, it... But do you think it's even possible? I mean, do you think his spirit could be around?" I ask dad.

"Anything's possible." dad tells me.

"Well, there's one way to find out." I tell dad.

"Where are you going?" dad asks me.

"I gotta pick something up. I'll be back." I tell dad.

"Wait, Sam. I promise I won't hunt this demon. Not until we know Dean's okay." dad tells me.

I nod and leave.

Hallway

Dean POV

Tessa and I are walking down the hallway.

"I gotta say, I'm impressed." I tell Tessa.

"With what?" Tessa asks me.

"With you. Most people in your spot would be jello right now, but uh, you're taking this pretty well. Maybe a little better than me." I tell her.

"Don't get me wrong. I was pretty freaked at first. But now, I don't know. Maybe I'm dealing." Tessa tells me.

"So, you're okay with dying?" I ask her.

"No, of course not. I just think, whatever's gonna happen gonna happen. It's out of my control, it's fate." Tessa tells me.

"Huh. Well, that's crap. You always have a choice. You can either roll over and die or you can keep fighting, no matter what —" I tell her and am cut off.

"Room 237, code blue. Dr. Kripke to room 237, code blue." the PA announcement says.

"Where are you going?" Tessa asks me.

"Just wait here." I tell her.

I run down the hallway to another room in crisis. The same spirit is hovering over a little girl, who is being resuscitated. It reaches a hand into her face.

"Get away from her!" I yell at it. I lunge at the spirit, which vanishes. The nurses stop resuscitation.

"Alright, let's call it." the male doc says.

"Time of death, five eleven p.m." the female doc says.

"At least she's not suffering anymore." the nurse tells the doctors.

I know I look stunned.

Dean's Room

I see Rhiannon laying at my bedside asleep; Sam enters the room quietly, looking at Rhiannon sadly, clutching a brown paper bag in his arms.

"Hey. I think maybe you're around. And if you are, don't make fun of me for this, but um, well, there's one way we can talk." Sam tells me.

He pulls out a box labeled "Mystical Talking Board". I am now behind him., arms folded.

"Oh, you gotta be kidding me." I tell Sammy.

Sam circles around the bed and sits cross legged on the floor. He opens the box and pulls out the board. "Dean? Dean, are you here?" Sam asks me.

"God, I feel like I'm at a slumber party." I speak. I sit opposite of Sam in front of the board. "All right, Sam. This isn't going to work." I tell Sammy.

Sam has his hands poised on the pointer. I place my fingers on it and slowly, concentrating. slides it to "YES" on the board. Sam gasps.

"I'll be damned." I speak.

Sam laughs in relief. "It's good to hear from you, man. It hasn't been the same without you, Dean. Hopefully, the others are okay as well." Sam tells me.

"Damn straight." I tell Sam, while sad for my sisters. I place my fingers on the pointer again and starts sliding it. The room circles around behind Sam to his POV - he is alone at the board, the pointer sliding under his fingers.

"Dean, what? H? U? Hunt? Hunting? What, are you hunting?" Sam asks me.

The pointer slides back to "YES"

"It's in the hospital, what you're hunting? Do, do you know what it is?" Sam asks me.

"One question at a time, dude." I tell him, though he can't hear or see me, I can try to tell him.

"What is it?" Sam asks. I push the pointer again during the following, to R, E, A, P.

"I don't think it's killing people. I think it's taking them. You know, when their time's just up." I say.

"A reaper. Dean. Is it after you?" Sam asks.

I push the pointer to YES.

"If it's here naturally, there's no way to stop it." Sam tells me.

"Yeah, you can't kill death." I tell Sam.

"Man, you're, um," Sam starts to say.

"I'm screwed, Sam." I say.

"No. No, no, no, um, there's gotta be a way." Sam says and he stands, pacing. "There's gotta be a way. Dad'll know what to do." Sam tells me and he leaves.

John's Room - Night

Sam POV

I enter the room and see that the bed is empty.

"Dad." I whisper.

Boiler Room

John POV

I push the door open and enter, carrying the duffel bag. I walk through a dark and dripping hallway to a clear space and place the bag down. I pull out a box of white chalk and start drawing a large symbol on the floor.

Dean's Room

Rhiannon POV

Sam returns carrying the journal. He sits on the edge of dad's bed.

"Hey. So, Dad wasn't in his room." Uncle Sam tells Dad, well to him the air.

"Where is he?" daddy asks Uncle Sammy.

"But I got Dad's journal, so who knows? Maybe there's something here." Sammy says. Sam flips open the journal and leafs through it, glancing up at daddy's unconscious form occasionally. Daddy comes to stand behind him.

"Thanks for not giving up on me, Sammy." Daddy tells Sammy, though I turn back to his unconscious body, hoping daddy will hop in and wake up.

Sam turns to a page that says "Reapers", Dad leans over and reads something. His eyes go wide.

"Son of a bitch." Dad says. He leaves, stalking down the hallway until he sees Tessa.

Empty Room

Dean POV

Tessa is sitting on the edge of the bed. She's dressed differently.

"Hi, Dean." Tessa, the reaper tells me.

"You know, you read the most interesting things. For example, did you know that reapers can alter human perception? I sure didn't. Basically, they can make themselves appear however they want. Like, say, uh, a pretty girl. You are much prettier than the last reaper I met." I tell Tessa.

"I was wondering when you would figure it out." Tessa tells me.

"I should have known. That whole "accepting fate" rap of yours is far too laid back for a dead chick. But the mother, and the body, I'm still trying to figure that one out." I tell her.

"It's my sandbox, I can make you see whatever I want." Tessa tells me.

"What, is this like a turn-on for you? What, toying with me?" I ask her.

"You didn't give me much choice. You saw my true form and you flipped out. Kinda hurts a girl's feelings. This was the only way I could get you to talk to me." Tessa tells me.

"Okay, fine. We're talking. What the hell do you want to talk about?" I ask her.

"How death is nothing to fear." Tessa tells me and touches my cheek.

"It's your time to go, Dean. And you're living on borrowed time already." Tessa tells me.

Boiler Room

John POV

I have finished the chalk symbol and have placed several candles and a black bowl around it. I am incanting in Latin.

I slide a knife across my palm, drawing blood and dripping it on the bowl. I light a match and drop it in; the sand in the bowl flares and goes out. I stand, looking around. A hand grabs my shoulder.

"What the hell are you doing down here, buddy?" the man asks me.

"I can explain." I say.

"Yeah? You're going to explain to security. Come on. You follow me." he tells me.

I pull the Colt and cock it. "Hey. How stupid do you think I am?" I ask the possessed man.

The man's eyes glow. "You really want an honest answer to that?" he asks me.

Two possessed men in lab coats stalk by and take positions behind me.

"You conjured me, John. I'm surprised. I took you for a lot of things. But suicidally reckless wasn't one of them." YED tells me.

"I could always shoot you." I tell him.

"You could always miss." YED says and laughs. "And you've only got one try, don't'cha? Did you really think you could trap me?" YED asks me.

"Oh, I don't want to trap you." I say and I lower the gun. "I want to make a deal." I say.

Yellow Eyes looks intrigued.

Dean's Room

Sam POV

I am standing on the window side of Dean's bed, hands in his pockets. Dean's spirit is not there.

"Dean, are you here?" I ask, and I look around, trying to feel his presence.

"I couldn't find anything in the book. I don't know how to help you. But I'll keep trying, all right? As long as you keep fighting. I mean, come on you can't, you can't leave me here alone with Dad. We'll kill each other, you know that." I say, to the air.

There's a pause.

"Dean, you gotta hold on. You can't go, man, not now. We were just starting to be brothers again. Can you hear me?" I ask the room.

Empty Room

Dean POV

I am staring out a dark window.

"Look, I'm sure you've heard this before, but... you've gotta make an exception, you've gotta cut me a break." I tell Tessa.

"Stage three: bargaining." she tells me.

"I'm serious. My family's in danger. See, we're kind of in the middle of this, um, war, and they need me. And I have kids! 2 sons and four daughters. I can't leave them!" I tell Tessa.

"The fight's over." she tells me.

"No, it isn't." I tell her.

"It is for you. Dean. You're not the first soldier I've plucked from the field. They all feel the same. They can't leave. Victory hangs in the balance. But they're wrong. The battle goes on without them." Tess tells me.

"My brother, my sisters. They could die without me." I tell her.

"Maybe they will, maybe they won't. Nothing you can do about it. It's an honorable death. A warrior's death." Tessa tells me.

"I think I'll pass on the seventy-two virgins, thanks. I'm not that into prude chicks anyway." I tell Tessa.

"That's funny. You're very cute." she tells me.

"There's no such thing as an honorable death. My corpse is going to rot in the ground and my family is going to die! No. I'm not going with you; I don't care what you do." I tell Tessa.

"Well, like you said. There's always a choice. I can't make you come with me. But you're not getting back in your body. And that's just facts. So yes, you can stay. You'll stay here for years. Disembodied, scared, and over the decades it'll probably drive you mad. Maybe you'll even get violent." Tess tells me.

"What are you saying?" I ask her.

"Dean. How do you think angry spirits are born? They can't let go and they can't move on. And you're about to become one. The same thing you hunt." she tells me.

Boiler Room

John POV

Yellow Eyes, the two minions, and I are still in a circle around the summoning symbol.

"It's very unseemly, making deals with devils. How do I know this isn't just another trick?" Yellow eyes ask me.

"It's no trick. I will give you the Colt and the bullet, but you've got to help Dean. You've got to bring him back." I tell Yellow Eyes.

"Why, John, you're a sentimentalist. If only your boys knew how much their daddy loved them." YE tells me.

"It's a good trade. You care a hell of a lot more about this gun than you do Dean." I yell YE.

"Don't be so sure. He killed some people very special to me. But still, you're right, he isn't much of a threat. And neither is your other son." YE tells me.

I lower my head and raise my eyes.

"You know the truth, right? About Sammy? And the other children?" YE asks me.

"Yeah. I've known for a while." I tell him.

"But Sam doesn't, does he? You've been playing dumb." YE says.

"Can you bring Dean back? Yes, or no?" I ask him.

"No. But I know someone who can. it's not a problem." YE tells me.

"Good." I say. "Before I give you the gun, I'm going to want to make sure that Dean's okay. With my own eyes." I tell YE.

"Oh, John, I'm offended. Don't you trust me?" YE asks me.

I shake my head slowly.

"Fine." YE says.

"So, we have a deal?" I ask YE.

"No, John, not yet. You still need to sweeten the pot." YE tells me.

"With what?" I ask him.

"There's something else I want, as much as that gun. Maybe more." he tells me.

Empty Room

Dean POV

I am sitting on the bed; Tessa the Reaper is behind me. She strokes my hair tenderly.

"It's time to put the pain behind you." Tessa tells me.

"And go where?" I ask Tessa.

"Sorry. I can't give away the big punchline. Moment of truth. No changing your mind later. So, what's it going to be?" Tessa asks me.

As I turn to look at her, the lights start flickering, a familiar buzzing starts.

"What are you doing that for?" I ask Tessa.

"I'm not doing it." she tells me.

We both turn to a vent in the floor and see black demon ichor pour out of it.

"What the hell?" I ask out of the blue.

"You can't do this! Get away!" Tessa tries to say to the ichor.

"What's happening?!" I ask Tessa.

Tessa the Reaper screams as the demon flows into her mouth. She turns, eyes glowing yellow.

"Today's your lucky day, kid." YE says through Tessa.

YE places a hand on my forehead; and I convulse.

Dean's Room - Night

Rhiannon POV

Sam and I are still sitting on the bed as daddy gasps, waking suddenly and choking on the tube in his throat.

"Dean?" Sam says.

"Daddy!" I say, hugging the life out of him, crying.

Sam runs into the hallway.

"Help! I need help!" Sam shouts, as I sob, grateful that daddy is awake.

Dean's Room - Day

August 6, 2006

"I can't explain it. The edema's vanished. The internal contusions are healed. Your vitals are good. You have some kind of angel watching over you. And I would like for you to know that Harry and Razzie Singer have awoken, their injuries are healing but they are getting back to their feet." the doc says.

"Thanks, doc." daddy tells the doc.

The doctor leaves: Dad turns to Uncle Sammy.

"So, you said a Reaper was after me?" daddy asks Sammy.

"Yeah." Sammy tells dad.

"How'd I ditch it?" dad asks Sam.

"You got me. Dean, you really don't remember anything?" Sam asks dad.

"No. Except this pit in my stomach. Sam, something's wrong." dad tells Sammy.

A knock at the door; Grandpa John hovers in the doorway.

"How are you feeling, son?" Grandpa John asks dad.

"Fine, I guess. I'm alive." dad tells him.

"That's what matters." Grandpa John says.

"Where were you last night?" Sammy asks him, angrily.

"I had some things to take care of." Grandpa John tells Sammy.

"Well, that's specific." Sammy says.

"Come on, Sam." dad tells Sammy.

"Did you go after the demon?" Sammy asks Grandpa John.

"No." Grandpa John says.

"You know, why don't I believe you right now?" Sammy asks him.

"Can we not fight? You know, half the time we're fighting, I don't know what we're fighting about. We're just butting heads. Sammy, I, I've made some mistakes. But I've always done the best I could. I just don't want to fight anymore, okay?" Grandad John pleads.

"Dad, are you alright?" Sammy asks Grandpa John.

"Yeah. Yeah, I'm just a little tired. Hey, son, would you, uh, would you mind getting me a cup of caffeine?" he tells Sammy.

"Yeah. Yeah, sure." Sammy tells John.

Sam leaves, still frowning. John looks after him sadly.

"What is it?" dad asks grandpa.

"You know, when you were a kid, I'd come home from a hunt, and after what I'd seen, I'd be, I'd be wrecked. And you, you'd come up to me and you, you'd put your hand on my shoulder and you'd look me in the eye and you'd... You'd say "It's okay, Dad"." grandpa says.

There's a pause.

"Dean, I'm sorry." grandpa tells dad.

"What?" dad asks grandpa.

"You shouldn't have had to say that to me, I should have been saying that to you. You know, I put, I put too much on your shoulders, I made you grow up too fast. You took care of Sammy; you took care of Lorelai and Laila; you took care of me. You did that, and you didn't complain, not once. I just want you to know that I am so proud of you." grandpa tells dad.

"Is this really you talking?" Dad asks grandpa.

"Yeah. Yeah, it's really me." grandpa tells him.

"Why are you saying this stuff?" dad asks grandpa.

Grandpa comes closer and puts a hand on dad shoulder.

"I want you to watch out for Sammy, the twins, and the kids, okay?" grand asks dad.

"Yeah, dad, you know I will. You're scaring me." dad tell grandpa.

"Don't be scared, Dean." grandpa tells dad.

Grandpa leans over and whispers something into dad's ear. Dad pulls back in shock, processing. Grandpa leaves, and dad stares after him.

Hospital Room

John POV

I enter and place the colt on a small bed table.

"Okay." is all I say.

Hallway

Sam POV

I walk back to the room carrying a cup of coffee. I look into a room and see dad on the floor.

"Dad?!" I yell.

Dropping the cup, I run to dad's side, kneeling over him and screaming for help.

Hopital Room

Lorelai POV

Once again, a crowd of doctors and nurses attempt resuscitation, this time on dad. Dean, Sam, Laila and I hover in the doorway, and a nurse tries to push us out.

"No, no, no, it's our dad. It's our dad!" Dean pleads as Laila sobs.

"Come on." Dean is still pleading, I am crying.

"Okay, stop compressions." the doc tells them.

"Come on, come on." both Dean and Laila plead.

"Still no pulse." a nurse says.

"Okay, that's it everybody." the doc says.

"I'll call it. Time of death: 10:41 am." the doc pronounces T.O.D.
