Happy late 4th of July! This is where I'll be introducing the mystery contestant that will be joining Pahkitew Island. Will they make Dave's journey more difficult? Find out here!
Chapter 6: A Cast From The Past
It's been almost five days since the last challenge, yet Dave can't seem to shake off the memory of his kiss with Scarlett. He's confused and wondering why he has developed these emotions for her. Dave took a solo walk around the forest shortly after eating to distract himself. He used this time to contemplate his dilemma: should he pursue a romantic relationship with Scarlett or still consider eliminating her? He's unsure and struggling to make a decision. Dave decides to set aside his feelings and focus on the upcoming challenge, so he sits on a tree stump, strategizing and passing the time with deep thought.
She's not even who she says she is! After our kiss, she seemed normal but has been avoiding me for the past few days; I don't know when she'll be able to speak to me. I need to remain calm and get through this next challenge.
Suddenly, a voice called out to him, "Dave, you got a moment?"
He turned to his right, seeing Samey approaching him from the pathway while standing in front of Dave, still seated on the stump. He would like a distraction from his thoughts about Scarlett, "Samey. What's up?"
"Just passing by," started Amy, acting like her sister, "I was stressing about what challenges Chris has to offer next."
Dave reassured her, "You should be fine. I'm more worried about you facing your sister on those beams..."
She cringed, "My sister? Those beams? What are you talking about?" puzzled by his warning.
"F-Forget what I've said!" pleaded Dave, keeping his cool from the tree stump.
"Alright, next topic..." she chuckled, "Did you enjoy kissing Scarlett?"
When Samey brought up Scarlett's name, Dave became flustered and overwhelmed. "T-That kiss meant nothing! She didn't want to get infected with your poisonous rash!"
"Come on, I know that you two have a connection," she lightly teased Dave, leaning in and nudging his shoulders. "I bet you found her the most attractive girl on the island, but you chickened out and said Sky was."
"Oh please, I think you'll-"
"S-Samey!"
The person who interrupted their conversation caused them to stop and watch as Rodney ran through the forest path to join them.
Amy smiled, "Oh, Rodney, what brings you here?" trying to keep her act as Samey.
"I've been meaning to ask you this for a long time..." he got down to one knee and asked, "W-W-Will you be my g-g-g-girlfriend!"
"Oh? Uhh..." she cringed.
*Confessionals*
Rodney: I've wanted to ask her since the last challenge. I hope I wasn't too pushy with my question.
Amy: What's the big deal with my sister and this empty tin can? I might as well entertain him while I'm here.
"...S-Sure, why not?!" she deviously grinned, keeping his hopes up. "We've 'known' each other for this long."
Rodney was stoked by her answer, "R-Really? Does this mean we're-"
"Attention, campers! I want you to all come to the meeting area for a surprise announcement!" the loudspeaker rattled with Chris' voice, calling for a meeting.
Surprise announcement?! I don't recall that happening before...
"L-Looks like the big man is calling for all of us." said Dave, using this time to get out of 'Samey's' back.
The teams stood while Chris stood with his arms behind his back and a big smile on his face, hinting at a possible scheme of his. The campers were unsure of what to expect from Chris. Dave stood beside Rodney and Scarlett, trying to act like nothing had happened between them during the last challenge.
While waiting for the camper's attention, Chris humbly announces, "Before we begin today's challenge, I have some news to share. This show is always about expecting the unexpected with twists and turns no one has ever thought of."
But everyone was focusing on Chris himself, noticing an unusual amount of smoothness around his face left them bewildered, "Excuse me, Chris. Did you do something different with your face?" Sky asked curiously.
"I don't know what you're talking about..." he smiled vigorously, showing off his complexions, "Anyways, for this twist, another contestant will be joining Total Drama Pahkitew Island for the million-dollar cash prize!"
Everyone gasped at the bombshell Chris threw out while they discussed amongst eachother of a new contestant joining the game this late.
Another person is going to join the game! What the hell?! This never happened in the previous timeline! Who will it be, though?
"You're just going to add a newbie to the competition just like that?!" asked Jasmine.
"Um, excuse me. Who said they were a newbie?" shrugged Chris, "This contestant already had experience in this drama-packed reality show! It's a former Total Drama contestant!"
*Confessionals*
Sky: What gives?! A veteran Total Drama contestant is joining us?! If it's Joe, Lightning, or the competitive Eva, I might have to step up my game...
Max: No matter who gets in, nothing will stop me from causing the most diabolical evil!
It was one thing if it was just some random person, but it's now worse. Dave could imagine a Total Drama veteran shaking his game and turning the tides. He was only prepared to deal with 13 originally from the Pahkitew season. He could only dread who'll be joining them with his teeth chattering.
It's going to be a past Total Drama contest?! It must be someone competitive like Eva, or it could be the sinister Heather with her manipulation. No matter who it is, I won't back down to get booted off in no time!
"What kind of madman thought up this crazy idea?!" asked Shawn, on the lookout for suspicious creatures from afar.
Chris stepped back from his deranged look, "Hey! If you're going to beat up the person who came up with this idea, it was Topher's!"
"So, who is it then?" Dave was asking for the mystery contestant to join the game.
"Good question, she should arrive very soon." chuckled Chris, "I made sure she gets a 'special' parachute to bring her down on—"
"I'm ready to join the game, Chris!"
"Gaahh!" he was frightened by the strange voice behind him, sounding puzzled, "How did you? When did? How are you not a few thousand feet in the air, Dawn?"
From behind Chris was Dawn standing nonchalantly as she ignored Chris's question before walking to the campers, "It's so exciting to see you all here and your bright auras around. Well, some of them..."
"Whoa! It's Dawn from Revenge of the Island!" Sky was stunned seeing her on the island. "No offense, but why her of all people?"
"She was due to return in All-Stars when we were building the roster, but she declined the invitation," answered Chris.
"It's because I was busy doing a peaceful protest with others to stop land development on a forest with innocent creatures." she sighed, "It was during the time All-Stars was airing."
"I heard of those! Those people chain themselves to big trees to stop the tractor from tearing them apart!" Shawn replied.
"So anyways!" Chris cleared his throat, "Dawn will have a choice to join either team Maskwak or Kinosewak. I'll give you a minute to decide which team you'll be in, Dawn."
She approached the remaining four from team Maskwak, intrigued by their few numbers reaching out to Jasmine, "My goodness, you seemed to have lost alot of your comrades."
"It's a bummer, but considering our lost, we haven't given up yet!" Jasmine pumped her fist in determination, "You're welcome to help us to take down that powerhouse that is team Kinosewak!"
"Well, as long as you don't slow us down, at least..." Max folded his arms and gave her a stern look.
Amy* walked up to the dirty blond, "I'm Amy, a pleasure to meet you, unlike my stupid sister over there!"
"That's not right; you're someone else..." Dawn peered through Amy's* face. "But it wasn't your fault you're in this position."
*Confessionals*
Samey: *gasped* How did...how she...
Jasmine: She's a keen one; I'll give her that. We could use her on our team.
Seeing Dawn interact with team Maskwak gave Kinosewak a sense of concern, and they decided to huddle up while coming up with ways to get her on their side. Sky was the first to propose, "Dawn has freaky psychic powers, right? She could be a strong ally."
"Her extrasensory perception is merely a phenomenon which can easily be disproven by scientific investigation," said Scarlett, skeptical of her talent.
Rodney was utterly clueless about her explanations, "So...we shouldn't have her on our team?"
"Hello, everyone! great to be with all of you!" Dawn made her way to team Kinosewak's side and greeted them.
"Oh, hey! Such a big fan of yours a few seasons ago!" Ella was first to greet her.
"We have the most wins on this show, but that doesn't mean we don't need more help. You'll fit in with us!" Sky insisted.
I have nothing to say about this, but having Dawn on our side could be helpful. But I'm already dealing with a lot right here.
With the girls greeting Dawn with their bright smiles, Dave was next to approach her as he warmly welcomed her, "I'm Dave, glad to meet you in person."
While he expected a light-hearted response from her, Dawn raised a brow as if she noticed something unusual about him. "Hmm? Something is strange about you."
"Huh, what are you?"
He was taken aback when Dawn showed a keen interest in his face, tilting her head in confusion as she observed him. This drew some attention from the Kinosewak team, particularly Scarlett, who bit her lip while watching the interaction.
Chris was the one who jokingly said, "Come on, Dave! Save some ladies for the rest of the guys here!"
Dawn quickly broke out of her glance at Dave, stepping back from his face before responding, "I apologize for zoning out. You seem quite interesting..."
He was reminded of Dawn using her strange powers to see a person's aura color. He felt a little uneasy as she stared deeply into his eyes.
After her time was up, Chris signaled her to the middle and asked her, "So, Dawn. Who will you like to join, team Maskwak or team Kinosewak?"
"As much as I enjoy both teams," she slowly pointed to the lefthand side of her location, "I'll join team Maskwak!"
Chris nodded, "It's your lucky day, Maskwak. You just earned yourself a teammate!"
Jasmine and the rest of team Maskwak were excited to welcome their new teammate, with Max grunting from the side with his arms crossed. Despite team Maskwak gaining a new member, Dave isn't going to let this drastic change get to him.
"Alright, campers, gather by the lake for the next challenge," said Chris, shooing them off the area with his hands.
**Confessionals**
Dawn: I'm a bit anxious about a particular person on team Kinosewak, so I chose to be on team Maskwak. Nevertheless, I will use my gracious spiritual soul to secure victory!
Ella: Such a shame Dawn didn't choose us. We would've gotten together nicely with our aptitude for adorable creatures.
Scarlett: I despise Dawn and the arrogance of her supernatural abilities. Nothing metaphysical here, just scientific reasoning
The teams walked alongside the sandy beach side of the island, where Chris mentioned where the challenge would be held. Dave was walking at the end of the line and coincidently just right beside Scarlett, who strangely walked at the same pace as him. She seemed relatively silent for her nature, saying nothing during the short walk. As for team Maskwak's side, Jasmine filled Dawn on the previous challenges and eliminations as she took the lead on the pact.
"That pretty much sums it all," Jasmine concluded. "Have any questions?"
Dawn nodded, "Yes, is Dave always like this? His aura is very intriguing..."
"Hehe, I don't follow your mumbo-jumbo..." cringed Jasmine, trying to comprehend her vocabulary.
"Well, the person's physical and mental state determines the color of their aura; they can pave the path of the person's destiny or the choices they possibly take." she explained it through words Jasmine could understand, "Your aura is a bright blue, you pose great athleticism and have an adventures spirit."
"That sounds about right," Jasmine nodded. "And what makes Dave's aura strange?"
But Dawn bit her lip, "It's difficult to tell. He's the only aura that isn't quite clear to me."
"Look alive, campers!" The campers were greeted by Chris speaking through a megaphone as he stood on the yacht alongside Chef operating the wheel. "Today, we will laugh as you risk your lives in the smash, splash, 1-2-3 X dash. Players will cross the beams, grab a dueling stick from the end of the dock, bring it back to yours, and place it on their board. Two dueling sticks make an "x." Three "x's" wins the challenge."
Overlooking the two platforms above the water, the campers saw the pile of dueling sticks on one side of the platform, followed by the narrow path they must traverse through.
Scrunched up, Max rubbed his hands together with a devious grin, "I've got a diabolical scheme for th-"
"Anyone who messes with the other team's stick will result in them losing the challenge!" Chris cutted him off to give a warning.
"N-Nevermind..." Max smiled meticulously.
"Only one member per team may cross at a time. If you land in the drink, that turn gets you no points, so use that dueling stick to swat, trip, or bat your opponent into the water! This will be awesome to see."
Samey from team Maskwak's side asked, "What is your fascination with seeing us hurt each other?"
Quickly, Jasmine nudged her shoulders a whispered, "Ahem! Less Samey, more Amy!"
"Oh," she got the message before changing her tone to fit her sister, Amy. "If anyone gets my hair wet, they're dead!"
"Can it be in any order?" Sky raised her hand, asking.
"You decide your order, but each team member must go at least once!" Chris responded while gesturing for Chef to move the boat over by a platform with a lounge chair and a standing umbrella, disembarking it and stepping on the platform while Chef left the scene. "It's game time! Swim to your docks and wait for my signal to start."
Now that Shawn is no longer on edge for any zombies, he's completely unaware of the island's unusual moving landmarks.
They promptly went in the water and swam towards their docks, struggling to climb up it. Dave noticed Scarlett was the last one to arrive, and without hesitation, Dave gave a helping hand as she gratefully accepted his assistance, allowing him to pull her up with his strength. Only when she got on the platform with the others; Dave discovered what he had just done while peering into her eyes.
"D-Dave. Your hand is..." Reddened with embarrassment, she spoke softly.
He realized they were still holding each other's hands, so he released his grip on her while regaining composure. "Sorry..." he apologized.
"Hey lovebirds, we got to focus here!" said Amy, trying to keep them flustered by their moment wringing her hair.
"Alright, so who goes first?" Sky wondered, checking her teammates.
Ella nervously answered, "Perhaps I should go later. I don't want to make a bad first impression..."
"I'll go first! I want to prove to Samey that I could protect her." Rodney from the front of the line insisted.
"H-How sweet..." Amy forcibly smiled, keeping her role as Samey.
Surprisingly, from team Maskwak's side, Max volunteered to go first as he moved up the front, "How dare these Kinosewaks dominate us in these challenges! I shall teach them the meaning behind vengeance!"
As much as she dislikes Max's sinister persona, Jasmine had to agree with him, "By all means, go on..."
"M-Maybe Jasmine should go first!" Shawn urged from behind the line, "She'll make a great starter!"
Dawn signaled Jasmine to kneel to her, whispering into her right ear after. While Jasmine didn't understand exactly what she meant by her request, she slowly nodded before telling her team, "I guess...I could hold off until I face her."
"Ready?! Go!"
With the sound of an airhorn by Chris' hand, Max and Rodney made their way across the beam toward their dueling sticks while keeping their balance on the narrow part of the dock. Rodney grabbed his stick with both hands in a crossed position while Max grabbed his preparing to swing it with full force.
While they made their way back to the starting dock, Max was already fuming with anger as he made his battle cry at Rodney, "You Kinosewaks will know the full force of my pure evilness! Time to Evi-"
*Bump*
It wasn't until he suddenly got bumped by Rodeny's bulky figure as his dueling stick whacked Max near the groin area as he face-planted onto the hardwood dock and rolled to the body of water. It didn't even faze Rodney to return to the start and place the stick on the rack.
"Wow, Rodney wasn't even unfazed!" Chris witnessed that excellent display of misery from his seat, "That leaves Kinosewak with nearly half an 'x' to complete!"
Sky cheered him for a successful run, "Way to go, Rodney!"
"Yes, excellent work!" applauded Ella.
So far, so good. I hope the next one is up.
"I'll go next!" Amy was committed to being next for the challenge.
Returning to his starting point, Max groaned as he plopped himself onto the platform when he left the water, "Whoever goes next b-better teach those a lesson!"
Dawn volunteered herself, "Don't worry, my friends. I'll be next!" before walking near the front of the beam.
The second airhorn rang, immediately making Amy and Dawn quick on their feet as they grabbed a dueling stick on the other side. Amy approached her with bloodshed, committed she'll come crashing down to the water. However, what she didn't expect was Dawn's incredible strength as they pushed their sticks on each other with equal force.
"My goodness!" gasped Dawn, peering into Amy's face, "You dish out your anguish on your poor sister just to gain superiority for yourself. No wonder why your parents think she's the better twin."
"Huh?!" gasped Amy, stunned by her claim, "Where did you..."
"Samey! Hurry up!" Sky yelled, seeing Dawn running towards her side of the dock and placing her stick on the board.
"And Dawn scored one for team Maskwak and left 'Samey' at a stand-still!" the loudspeaker rattled with Chris' voice.
**Confessionals**
Amy: What is this!? When did Chris decide to put psychic people on the show!?
Sky noticed the frustration on her face when she approached the starting position, "Stay calm, Samey. We'll get them next time!"
Well, while I'm here, I could go next...
"I'll give it a go," Dave requested to go next, preparing himself for what was about to come.
"Dave, you sure?" Sky asked, showing concern for him, "What if something happens to you?"
"It's alright. I can handle a little struggle."
On team Maskwak's side, Max recovered from his groin pain as he made his way to Shawn to give him a little motivation, "Shawn, I'm afraid I did not tell you this, but they've got to him!" sounded very startled.
"Who, the zombies?!" he sounded on edge when Shawn questioned him.
"Oh yes, they've bitten Dave, and he's been infected with the virus!" Max sympathetically said, "You must have noticed his strange behavior these past few days; it seems the infection reached his brain. You know what you have to do..."
Shawn's eyes were bloodshot with adrenaline, as he thought he slacked off with his zombie survival techniques ever since he had Jasmine on his mind. How could he let the zombies affect one of the campers here? Despite David being on the opposite team, he knew they were in danger of getting bitten. As the horn went off, he sternly zipped past Dave across the beam.
He was in the zone, running and grabbing his dueling stick from the pile as he held it like a baseball bat, with one end taller than the other. Closing in on Dave with his dueling stick, he cried, "ZOMBIEEE!"
*Thwack*
He swung his stick right across Dave's face, with the padded side hitting him directly. He had a few seconds of air time falling on his back and splashing down on the water. When Shawn's enraged state diminished when he placed his stick on the stand, the rest of team Kinosewak were horrified by Dave's knockout.
"Oh my gosh! Dave! Sky cried in dread as she witnessed his fall.
"Yowza! What a remarkable knockout strike by Shawn!" Chris witnessed Shawn's remarkable feat, "Giving team Maskwak one completed 'X' on their board!"
Damn it, he still hits like a ton of bricks. Strange that he still thinks there are zombies out here.
He swam back in disappointment, showing no visible bruising when he climbed on top of the dock. "It just happened so fast, sorry." he apologized.
Returning to his starting, Shawn quickly relized what he's done and gulped. "I think he wasn't a zombie after all..."
"Oh, it seems I might mistake myself..." Max coyly apologized, "But it worked out on our end."
"A bit much, eh?" asked Jasmine, feeling bad for Dave.
Sky clenched her fists, "That's a low blow, and how un-sportsmanlike of him to do that!"
"I'll go next, Sky..." said Scarlett, eager to volunteer herself to be next.
Sky heard the frustration around Scarlett's voice as she approved of her decision, "Alright. Avenge Dave for us!"
Glancing towards the distance with her squinting eyes, Jasmine quickly stepped up to go next, "I've got Scarlett, guys!"
*Confessionals*
Jasmine: Dawn mentioned earlier that a revelation will occur if I go against Scarlett. Whatever that means...
The airhorn rang, Jasmine and Scarlett charged head-on through their beams, grabbed a stick, and proceeded on a full-on clash with eachother. While the two may seem equally matched, exchanging dodges and guards, Scarlett was seen struggling with Jasmine's colossal stature overpowering her. Both teams cheered on their teammate in their surprising duel. Chris was, grabbing a small popcorn container from his side.
"Come on, Jasmine. Beat that four eyes to the ground!" Samey screamed, despite not enjoying cheering for her original teammate's demise.
"Focus, Scarlett!" Sky shouted, "You've got this."
Raising both hands between his mouth, Dave shouted, "Scarlett, I've been meaning to say this. You're the most attractive girl on the island!"
WHY...DID...I...SAY...THAT?!
In response, Scarlett snapped out of her focus on Jasmine to stare towards Dave in the distance, "Huh?!"
While distracted, Jasmine strategically retracted her dueling stick and took a different approach to take down Scarlett. Observing the distance between their beams and Scarlett's legs, she raised the dueling stick towards the upper left side of her shoulder and swung down to sweep Scarlett's legs off balance. It was a dirt tactic, but an effective one as she stumbled forward as her face descended towards the other beam, coming to a full-on collision with her glasses.
*Crack*
*Splash*
Bouncing off slightly from the impact, team Kinosewak was horrified to see Scarlett's face-planting on the hard wooden planks of the beam and splashing into the water. All looking anxious, including Amy. Jasmine continued promptly, running across her beam and placing her stick on the scoreboard.
"Scarlett's the second one on team Kinosewak to get a wipeout from the hands of team Maskwak!" yelled Chris from the megaphone, "Making them in the lead!"
"Scarlett!" Dave gasped from the crowd as he felt slightly responsible for her incident.
"Oh no, we have to help her!" Sky insisted as she closed in on the water.
But Rodney from behind pointed out, "Wait, I see her swimming up right now!" with his finger following the ripples in the water.
It appeared Scarlett swiftly swam her way back to the starting platform. Sky and Dave complied while reaching for one hand each as they pulled her up with their forces. As she came to the surface drenched, she took a few seconds to catch her breath from the tireless swim.
"It seems I've suffered minor grazes from the impact due to my lack of..." When she got herself on top of the platform, the jaw-dropping looks on her team's faces started to disturb her, "Is something bothering you?"
This could be a problem...
"Y-Your face..." Sky deadpanned.
"Do I have visible abrasions near my forehead region?" Scarlett asked before being met with silent headshakes.
Something didn't sit right with her, assuming a person like Scarlett would immediately notice something unusual about them. "How many fingers am I holding up?" Sky tested her out as she held up four left fingers.
"You're holding out four. Why?"
"And what's team Maskwak's score over there?" Sky pointed towards the distance where team Maskwak's scoring area's located.
She examined team Maskwak's scoreboard in the distance before answering, "They have completed half the required goal to win the challenge."
It was clear that Scarlett's vision seemed to be perfectly normal, "You could see fine without your glasses?!" Sky gasped.
Scarlett dreaded when she felt around her face notice her glasses were no longer on her. "Oh, uh...m-my glasses! I must've broken them when I was on the beam!"
"Are your glasses fake?" Amy slowly made her way to see the naked face of Scarlett upclose, "I'm no expert, but shouldn't you have trouble seeing from that far away or upclose?"
"Well, I..." Scarlett shriveled up. "Technically, they're reading glasses..."
"So after this whole time, you wore fake glasses while your vision was perfectly normal?" Sky's disappointing face rattled the whole team.
Amy crossed her arms. "Is there any good reason to fake needing to wear glasses?"
Oh boy, this isn't looking good...
The rest of team Kinosewak turned to Scarlett, still clamoring up at the girls' disappointed faces. "You see...I'm...self-conscious of my appearance..."
"Self-conscious?" Ella spoke up.
Dave contemplated the situation behind Scarlett's reasoning behind her fake glasses. He knew that her whole appearance was a lie, but he didn't focus on that when He stepped forward with a calm and empathetic tone in his voice, "It means she's insecure about her physical appearance; it's a real struggle that many people face. It's not easy to open up about our insecurities, especially when we fear judgment from others. While it may seem surprising and even hurtful to discover that Scarlett had been wearing fake glasses, remember that everyone has their reasons behind their choices."
"Wearing glasses made me feel like I had something to hide behind. It gave me a sense of security, a shield from judgment and scrutiny. I wanted to be taken seriously, and somehow, I believed wearing glasses would make that happen." Scarlett admitted to her team, her voice shaking.
Sky could take Dave's words for granted, but she soon caught on to his reasoning, "I never knew you had these insecurities, Scarlett." she eased her frustration.
"W-What touching moment..." said Ella, sniffing with her watery eyes as she listened through Dave's story.
"Whatever makes you happy, I'm okay with it." Rodney smiled.
"Dave," Scarlett stared longingly at his face, "I don't know what to say..."
**Confessionals**
Scarlett: After what transpired with my time, I suddenly feel an urge to...appreciate Dave to a deeper level of companionship...
"Hey, team Kinosewak! Enough chit-chat, you here!" Chris' obnoxious voice echoed through the megaphone.
"Let's focus on getting back in the game!" pleaded Sky, who bounced back on Dave's touching moment.
On Maskwak's side, Jasmine was comforting Samey, who was nervous about competing against her teammate, "Just pretend she's Amy," she whispered in her ear.
"Move it!"
The next airhorn went off, and Samey and Sky sought out their sticks on the other side and went straight on the offensive. Sky was visibly quicker in her movement, while Samey tried her best to imitate her devious sister's tone while trading blocks with their sticks.
"Why do you torment your sister?!" Sky asked, trying to dodge a high swing.
"Why not!? She's the most pathetic excuse as a lesser-known me!" Samey reluctantly retorted.
"Lesser-known? You should be treating her as your equal!" Sky returned fire on her excuse, "You're all talk and nothing to show for it!"
**Confessionals**
Samey: Ugh! I can't take it anymore. I don't want to get ridiculed by my team for being someone I'm not!
"You should be saying that to her! She's the real Amy!" Samey screamed out from her lungs while rubbing the blueberry stain on her cheek.
Sky eased on her swings when she heard her, "Wh-What!?"
But she was caught off guard when a grizzly bear wearing scuba gear jumped out of the water and climbed on top of the beam; It made the girls scream for their lives tossing their dueling sticks and retreating to their starting points. It was Chris was the one who summoned him as he announced, "Okay, I've had enough! No points awarded to either team as we seemed to have a dilemma here."
Rodney was genuinely surprised as he broke down. "Y-You're A-Amy?!" he gasped.
"N-No..." she forcibly grinned, "My stupid sister believes she's me...ehehe.."
Chris wasn't having it, as he sighed on the megaphone, "When will people remember I'm a host of a reality show with surveillance cameras everywhere? I've always known you've swapped places. I didn't do anything because I thought it was interesting."
Both teams were astonished by this breaking news it devolved into small talk among them. Dave couldn't be so disappointed in himself as he didn't think the twins would swap places. He wondered why Samey's demeanor was slightly off.
"No fair. You were fully aware of the situation and didn't take action?!" Jasmine spoke out, trying to get the host's attention on his lounge chair.
"Alright, I will take action if you stop our whining!" Chris groaned rationally, "From this point on, both Samey and Amy are disqualified from competing in this challenge. While we're on it, they are to return to their assigned teams asap!"
"Why am I getting punished too!?" cried Samey.
"Your sister put you up switching teams, so you share her punishment!" yelled Chris.
Both sisters reluctantly swam over to their appropriate team's platform while Chris prepared to blow the airhorn for the next two to fight.
**Montage**
Ella versus Dawn:
Both girls approached each other holding their sticks until the scuba bear returned to frighten them. However, when Ella was about to soothe the ravaging grizzly with her voice, Dawn convinced him not to attack and granted her safe passage along the beam. Leaving Ella distraught, Dawn placed her stick onto the board, giving team Maskwak a lead of two Xs.
Scarlett versus Max:
Max tried to change his tactic by choosing a defensive pose with his stick, but Scarlett was keen enough to notice a vulnerable spot on his right shoulder and whacked him hard enough to fall into the water. To make things worse for him, Max was electrocuted by a few electric eels that he was unfortunate enough to come into contact with below the water. Team Kinosewak gets one 'X' made on their scoring zone.
Rodney versus Jasmine:
While both teams were riled up to see the battle between the two, Rodney was wiped out the second he refused to fight Jasmine while she struck him on the head. He fell on his head before splashing into the water. Team Maskwak was one stick away from winning.
Sky versus Shawn:
Shawn tried to remain focused, aware that his opponent wasn't a zombie. He propped his dueling stick like a spear as he ran toward her. Fortunately, her gymnastic prowess made her perform a pole vault with her stick as she gracefully backflipped over Shawn and landed flawlessly to continue her way. Sky's stunning performance caused Shawn to avert his attention to the front and landed flat on the water. Team Kinosewak earns two 'Xs' on their side.
Dave versus Dawn:
Dave quickly grabbed his stick while doing his best against Dawn, who appeared very anxious seeing Dave upclose. While she tried to see into his aura to dive into his past, she was dumbfounded to find her unique talent absent near Dave. She was unfortunately knocked over by Dave's strike directly on her stomach region as she dropped her dueling stick into the water. Team Kinosewak now ties with Maskwak with one more 'X' to win.
"Looks like this last match will determine today's winner," Chris pointed out, seeing the rest of the people tired and soaked.
"Let me take on this last duel!" Sky panted, feeling confident for herself.
"Can't do that, Sky!" declined Chris from afar, "Because, guess who's the final match-up for this challenge? Yup! It's Samey versus Amy!"
"What?!" both teams shouted from their positions.
"Yeah! I figure the twins have some pent-up aggression towards each other." he chuckled, "So, Amy and Samey must prepare for the final match-up!"
To their dismay, Sammy and Amy silently got into position as they awaited the airhorn to be handed over from Chris's hand. Sammy was infuriated by her sister always stepping on her like a roach, so she was determined to defeat her sister in this one-on-one challenge. As for Amy, she desperately tried to prove she was the better twin out of both of them.
"Ready...GO!"
Each twin primarily focused on getting their dueling stick, running past eachother without exchanging a word. It was only when they returned to the center is where they began the action.
"You had to blab it out to everyone!" Amy Scolded her twin, swinging her stick across Samey's torso.
But Samey dodged it last minute, lifting her arms over her head to prepare for a downward strike, "I didn't ask you to trade places with me!"
"You're always such a pain to deal with back home!" retorted Amy."
"Mom hates you!"
"You are nothing but a phony copy of me!"
"No one likes you, not even your teammates."
"I'm ten times prettier than you!"
"Not with that ugly mole you have!"
A full minute passed, and the twins remained restless as their endless bickering, in conjunction with their fight, led Chris and the others to wait for them to burn out. Even the scuba bear, who tried to get their attention, was left out of the picture as the twins ignored his presence. Just when Chris was about to call it a draw, Amy was hit directly in the face by Samey's stick, which caused her to fall into the water. Samey quickly ran to the end of the scoring zone and placed her dueling stick on the board to make three complete Xs for her team.
"And Samey wins it for Team Kinosewak!" Chris shouted from his megaphone as he declared the winner.
"Ugh! W-Whatever!" Amy groaned, swimming back to her team. But something caught her leg as she gasped from the sudden attack, causing her to jerk her head from the water, "Samey! What are you-"
"I'm not done with you yet!" shouted Samey, proceeding to attack her from the water.
Chris held his walkie-talkie in his back pocket to contact Chef, "Come in, Chef. We have two wild sharks going at it!"
Seconds after, Chef steered the boat in front of the twins carrying a large fishing net. As he held it by its handle, he fished out the two getting under each other skin while entangled in the net.
"Nothing like typical family boding time to get me all choked up," Chris said as he wiped off a tear from his eye.
Returning to shore, each team returned to their shelters to await further action from Chris. Scarlett and the girls walked together as they wrapped their heads around Scarlett's deep secret she kept for the whole show.
Sky sighed, "That was rather interesting to know from our team, Scarlett can see perfectly fine without glasses, and Samey swapped places with her sister..." walking alongside the forest path with the girls behind her.
"I think you look stunning without your glasses, Scarlett!" Ella smiled, walking beside Scarlett to her right.
"Hehe, I wonder what Dave thinks about you now," giggled Samey.
Sky said, "Yeah... it still baffles me that you kept this from us..." keeping her tone composed.
"I'm sorry that I didn't discuss this with you. I'm not the one to share my issues with others." Scarlett sheepishly apologized.
Ella gave her a reassuring smile, "No matter what happens, we will always be here for you."
I guess things turned out for the best. I do prefer her with glasses on; it complements her bun well. As long as she's happy, I'll be as well.
While Dave was walking a few feet behind the girls, he could find a saddened Rodney looking down as he walked beside him. "What's up, Rodney? We won the challenge," Dave dug deeper into his sudden depression.
"For this whole time, trying to gain Samey's affection, it was her sister..." he moped around.
As nighttime fell, team Maskwak again sat at the seats in the elimination zone. What makes this occasion different is team Kinosewak standing below the sign waiting for their promised reward for winning the challenge. Chris was in front of them, holding a greasy paper bag, "To the victors go the spoils. Compliments of Spoiles' Second-hand Food Emporium. Where one man's trash is another man's tapeworm! Think fast!"
Tossing the bag over to Dave from behind him, team Kinosewak was stoked to receive this week's grub as they huddled around him. Especially Scarlett, who was inches away from him and almost in contact with him.
"Scarlett, give Dave some space, will you?" urged Sky, feeling a sense of awkwardness from them.
"My apologies..." she eased off and scooted herself just two inches away.
"Alright, let's get this out of the way!" Chris lifted the plate of marshmallows with his left hand, "Jasmine, Shawn, and Dawn are safe! Which leaves off you two..."
With Amy and Max without a marshmallow, they were biting their lips as they waited for the poor soul to be launched into the cannon of shame.
"Max!"
Max sounded anxious, "Y-Yes?!"
"You've been on the chopping block a few times, and for some reason, you managed to survive!" he said, tossing a marshmallow to him.
"W-Why me?!" Amy was infuriated by the results of the votes, "Shouldn't you be eliminating the one responsible for all of this?!"
"I am, and it's you. While reviewing the footage, you didn't even throw any balloon at her as you just consumed that poisonous fruit." Chris called her out, "You violated the sacred texts of the Total Drama guidebook. That's a crime in the reality TV world. Chef, prepare the canon for another one-way trip to the starry night sky!"
Chef walked towards the seat Amy sat on and lifted her like a mannequin as she slammed her fists onto his back to break free of his clutches. After a few minutes of struggle, she was tightly packed into the cannon with her head sticking out while trying to wiggle herself out.
"N-No! This is a big mistake!" she muttered at the top of her lungs, seeing her former teammates staring above, "Dave is super suspicious! He knew about the challenge before it even-"
*KABOOM*
"HAPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEnnnn..."
Topher, who operated the cannon, was scratching his head as he turned to Chris, "What's that she says?"
"I don't care, even if it's true; would you ever trust her?" shrugged Chris. "So anyways, with Dawn joining the fray for a million dollars, how will she shake things up? Only time can tell in Total Drama Pahkitew Island!"
While hearing her last few words, Dawn slowly turned to face team Kinosewak observing the elimination from the distance. Seeing Dave and his smiling face as he peered to the night sky as Amy grew farther from the island.
"Dave, he is quite a mystery," to not draw attention, she softly spoke, "But why can't I see his immediate future?"
