Tim Bradford leaped out of his truck and raced up his sister's driveway. His gun was securely stowed under his jacket. Genny had sent him a 911 text after 11 pm on a school night which meant something was wrong. A quick visual inspection showed no damage to her front door. That was a good sign, but he was still in cop mode. He knocked on her door and within a minute she answered in her pajamas. "Are you okay? Is Tyler okay?" He asked before she could say anything.

She opened the door wider so he could come in. "He's fine. I wanted to wait until he was in bed to take the test, but then I decided to go to bed and take it later. Then I couldn't go to sleep so I took it anyways." She closed the door after he walked through.

Tim shook his head. "Wait? What test? Is that why you sent me the 911?"

She nodded. "I took it like 20 minutes and can't bring myself to check it."

"What test?"

"A pregnancy test." She said the words as if they were a bomb.

Now he understood a little why she was freaking out. "Are you sure that you could be? I didn't think you were currently in a relationship."

"I'm not. It was just a one-night thing. I was worried about you and needed to blow off some steam." She rocked on her heels.

He wanted to ask her 20 questions, but one look at her face told him that wasn't what she needed. "Okay, why can't you go look at the test?"

She shrugged. "I don't know. I don't even know if I want it to be positive or negative. The timing is awful. My divorce was just finalized. Tyler has adjusted to our new life here. I'll find out soon if I got a 4th-grade teaching position at Tyler's school. But at the same time, I've always wanted another baby and I thought those days were past me. I just don't know if I can do this alone." When she finished she was openly crying.

Tim drew her into a hug. "It's okay. You aren't going to be doing it alone no matter what that test says. I'll help you with anything you need. I can take Tyler to his practices and even Dodgers games so you can have some alone time. Lucy's roommate is a great babysitter and I can probably get you the friends and family discount."

She pulled away from the hug with a slight smile on her face. "Thanks. I needed that."

"Do you want me to look at the test?"

She nodded. "Please."

They made their way to the closed bathroom door. Tim opened the door and walked over to where the test was sitting on the counter next to its empty box. He looked at the test, it was very self-explanatory. One line meant Genny wasn't pregnant and two lines meant she was. There were two lines.

"What does it say?" Genny asked from outside the bathroom door.

"It says that you're going to have another kid." He turned to Genny to gauge her reaction.

"Okay." She nodded slowly. "I kinda saw it coming. I feel the same as I did with Tyler just worse if that's even possible. Now that I know I can plan. I need to figure how if I still want a full-time teaching position or if I want to continue to sub because I'm going to be out for a while. I need to figure out how I'm going to afford daycare or be able to fit a baby in this cozy house."

"And all of that can wait," Tim told her firmly as a way to stop her from spiraling. "Right now you just need to take some deep breaths and try to get some sleep."

"You're right. I've got a Kindergarten class for the whole week, but I now know why they're running me so ragged." She walked with him towards the door. "And I appreciate you coming over tonight on short notice. I'm sure Lucy was a little annoyed."

"No, she was more worried. I had to stop her from coming along."

"Can I ask you one more favor?"

"Sure. As I said earlier I'll help you any way I can."

"Can you help me get in contact with the baby's father?"

"I'd like to, but I can't use department resources-"

"No. The guy I hooked up with is Angela Lopez's brother."

"Which one? She has half a dozen."

"Damian. I met him in the hotel when we were all stuck there overnight."

"The priest?"

"He's a priest?"

"For as long as I've known Angela. I've even gone to some of his services."

"He never mentioned it and he wasn't wearing the collar thing." She walked over to her couch and flopped down on it. "But I should've picked up on it."

"If he didn't tell you there was no way you could've known. This is on him not you," He stated as he sat down on the other side of the couch.

"I should've picked up that something was off. He said that he spent hours praying for his sister and he wanted to officiate her wedding."

Tim winced when he remembered that particular headache from Angela's almost wedding and then moved his focus back to his sister and her current problem. "There was no way you could've known he was a priest. The majority of people who spend hours praying and can officiate weddings aren't supposedly celibate Catholic priests."

"I guess a positive thing is that now I won't have to try to co-parent with a stranger. But I still think I'm going to tell him because he deserves to know."

Tim got up from the couch. "I'll get you his number, but you really should get some sleep now."

She nodded and walked with him to the door and started to tear up again. "Thank you so much for everything!"

"Of course." He drew in for another hug. "Everything will be okay."
