Chapter Three

Meanwhile…

CalSci…

Charlie was finishing some grading papers when one of his students came in, looking confused about something.

Charlie was surprised to see him.

"Hey, Randy, what can I help you with?"

"Nothing with math, but I think I have a problem with one of the other students, and I'm not sure on how to handle it." Randy said

This made Charlie sigh, as he knew that some students were not getting along this semester, something that a couple of other professors have noticed and no one is sure as to why that was the case.

"First, tell me what's going on, it seems quite a bit of that has been going on lately."

Randy hesitated for a few moments before he finally answered

"There has been some disagreements relating to some projects some students, including myself, have been collaborating on and it doesn't seem to be dissipating anytime soon."

Charlie thought for a few moments, as he knew from experience that collaborative projects can have problems when a group is involved, making him curious as to what such a project could be.

"May I ask what the project is?

"That I can't tell you, as the professor, Dr. Preston, who assigned us the project, told us it would be best to keep to ourselves until we are further along."

Charlie just shook his head, as now it would be harder to come to some sort of accord among the students.

"Alright," He said, "All I can say right now is that you guys need to go over what is causing all these problems and try to go from there."

"I know, sorry for not giving you more but we are not in a position to discuss our project and I have other obligations that I have to deal with."

"No worries, I just hope you guys can come to some agreement, otherwise you guys won't be able to complete your project."

After Randy left, Charlie wondered what the students were doing that had been secret, though he would have to try to meet Preston at some point to ask.

Knowing that he was done with the grades, he decided to head to the FBI, as while Don might not have a case, he still likes hanging out there, especially since he was still getting to know Megan and Colby, as well.

Before he could leave the building, he nearly collided with Larry, who was once again deep in thought about the cosmos.

"Apologies, Charles, I did not see you there." Larry said, still not fully paying attention

"It's okay, Larry, I'm just heading out to the FBI." Charlie said with his smile.

"Oh, do you mind if I accompany you? I have some things I would like to discuss with Agent Reeves." Larry said, now fully paying attention

"Sure, Larry." Charlie said, knowing that Larry had become interested in the new red-haired agent.

Larry smiled eagerly as he followed his former protege out the door while being watched by Randy, wondering what to do with his situation.

'Wonder what Preston would think if I had talked to Eppes.'
