I'm sorry if I said the wrong thing, but I would like to be involved no matter what your decision is. Genny stared at the text she'd just received from Damian and then turned her attention back to her laptop. She'd deal with him later.

She was currently working on applying to teach at a virtual school. On Monday she'd let the school know she was no longer interested in the full-time position. She'd never considered teaching virtually before, but it would mean she'd be able to work for longer if she had to go on bed rest and it might be easier if she had babies in the NICU. It wouldn't solve her daycare issues. As many disagreements as she had with her former mother-in-law, she was always extremely thankful she'd watched Tyler for free until he started school.

There was a knock on her door. Tim had called to check in with her after her appointment and had then offered to take Tyler for the night and take him to school the next day, but maybe he had changed his mind. She opened the door and there was Lucy Chen standing with a bag of takeout. "I thought you could use some food. Tyler told Tim that hamburgers were the only thing not making you sick."

Genny shut the door after Lucy came in. 'Thank you so much! How's he doing?"

"They're having a blast watching Star Wars and eating pizza." They walked together to the dining room.

"I had planned on taking him out to eat and telling him about the baby tonight, but now I'm going to wait a little. I'm glad he was okay with the change in plans."

"Did everything go well with your appointment today?" Lucy set the food on the table.

"Yes and no." Genny walked toward her kitchen. "Do you want anything to drink? I have some wine I can't drink for another year."

"That sounds good. It was a crazy day."

Genny went to the kitchen and grabbed a wine bottle and glass for Lucy and a can of Sprite for herself. "How do you like being a detective now?"

"I love it, but I feel like a rookie all over again. Harper is really putting me through my paces." Lucy took a seat at the table. "So what happened with your appointment?"

Genny poured wine into Lucy's glass and then sat down. "The babies are fine-"

"Babies? Are you having twins?" Lucy opened up her container of food.

"No, triplets and that's the issue. I have the option of reducing the pregnancy to twins." Genny picked up her burger and took a bite. It was a heavy discussion, but she needed to talk this out with someone. When she'd mentioned it to Tim he'd said that he supported her no matter what her decision was. And Damian had made his position very clear.

"What are you thinking about doing?"

"I honestly don't know yet. I've spent much of the afternoon weighing the pros and cons in my head, but I still don't know what I want to do. Twins would be easier financially and there would be fewer risks, but I just don't know if I can do it. I just keep thinking about having to tell them what I did to their sibling."

"You don't have to tell them."

"I know and I probably wouldn't. But I would know every time I looked at them. And with the reduction, there's a risk to the other two. But if I keep them all there's a risk to me and the babies. They'll most likely be born early. The average duration of a triplet pregnancy is 30 weeks. Then I also have to think about how this will affect Tyler."

"Tyler will be okay. Kids can adapt to most situations and you are a great mom." Lucy paused. "This isn't an easy decision. I honestly don't know what I'd do in your position, but I know that you'll make the right decision for you and your children. And it will be the right decision because you made it."
