Chapter Seven
The drive to the witness's home was quiet, as David was thinking about how Colby drove him nuts and Don didn't want to say anything just yet, not wanting to distract from the case.
The home was pretty big, almost dwarfing the usual celebrity home, though Don has seen bigger when dealing with other rich people in New Mexico.
"Business must be really good." David mused as they pulled up the driveway.
"Must be." Don agreed, as he knew that Jonathan Locke was a successful musician, though he had heard the man had done other ventures in other businesses as well.
The inside of the house was almost as grand, with a lot of paintings and statues all in the hallways, like in the old movies Don used to watch with his Mom.
A big muscular man led the two agents to an office where Locke was playing the piano before turning to greet the agents.
"Hi, what can I do for the FBI?" John said with a charming grin, which the agents found a bit annoying.
"We're here to see if you know anything about the Lauers being stalked, specifically Aria." Don said
Don just saying the name almost through John a little bit but he quickly recovered before speaking again.
"I have heard about it, though I figured it was just one of those weird fans just looking for something in the house, it happens all the time." John said nonchalantly
"We have found evidence that it seems more personal than that, like someone who is jealous of Aria's relationship with her husband, and we just want to cover all our bases." Don simply said
"Well, you're looking at the wrong guy, I was home all night, since my son is here for the next few days, why would I want to risk that?" Locke said, annoyed
"Anyone else able to verify that?" Don asked, trying to be polite while David was just watching Locke's body language and wasn't sure what to make of the guy.
"Sure, a couple of my security guards will show you security footage, and if you have further questions, you can contact my lawyer and we can meet sometime in the future." Locke said
"Understood, thank you for your time." Don said as David was just annoyed that they got nowhere with this guy.
After an hour of reviewing the footage, and getting a copy with Locke's permission, the agents left with almost nothing to go on.
As they drove back to the offices, Don decided that he needed to talk with the younger agent.
"What's on your mind?"
"John Locke is an… interesting guy, to say the least." David said, though he had a feeling that Don was talking about something else.
"That I agree on but I was also wondering why you and Colby don't seem to like each other that much." Don said
"It's not that I don't like him, Don, he just seems to have too much military in him still and I feel like that it's preventing us from working together."
"Are you sure that's all?" Don asked, not entirely convinced
"I don't know Don, you will have to ask him what his issue is." David just simply said
"When I get the chance to, I am sitting both of you down for a talk about your issues otherwise the problems will only persist."
"Fine, but I'll talk to him later before you do, maybe we can figure things out." David said, hoping that will be enough.
"OK, but we are still having that talk." Don promised
The rest of the drive was in silence.
