Chapter Eight
Meanwhile…
FBI Headquarters…
The team had managed to cut down the list of possible suspects with Charlie and Larry's help, though not by much.
'Fame is definitely not for the weary.' Megan thought to herself
As far as she could tell, the letters were mostly harmless and it didn't strike her that any of these people wouldn't have much means to do some of the things that had happened to the Lauers anyway.
"How's it going for you Colby?" She asked, as she had been concerned about the younger agent since Don and David left.
"Not too great, nothing worth looking too much into, although I feel quite a few of these people would at least want to meet Aria." Colby answered, feeling like they weren't getting ahead anywhere.
"Maybe but from what I have gathered on these letters so far is that many of these people are mainly just fans and want to reach out to her, for any number of reasons." Megan said
"Sounds about right." Colby said, hoping they'll have something before David and Don return.
"You okay?" Megan asked
"It's David, he doesn't seem like how I try to do things" Colby admitted
"Give it time, Colby, he was here before us, so it would take him a while for him to get used to us."
"I know but it still sucks" Colby admitted
"When you get the chance, talk to him, I'm sure Don has also talked to him about this at some point." Megan said, hoping they'll work this out before it starts affecting the team too much.
In the war room, Charlie and Larry were making little leeway and decided to try brainstorming new angles, though Larry was finding himself distracted.
"You okay, Larry?" Charlie asked, though he suspected Megan had to do with it.
"Apologies, Charles, my mind was drifting onto a dilemma I have found myself in." Larry admitted
"Megan?" Charlie asked as he leaned on the desk to listen better.
"Yes, I am thinking of asking her out, I am just trying to find the best time to do so and now is definitely not." Larry lamented
"Who knows, maybe she'll ask you." Charlie said, not entirely sure if that was comforting or not.
"Possibly, though maybe a coffee could also double as a stress reliever." Larry pondered
Charlie had to stifle a chuckle, as he had grown to like Megan in the time they had worked together and hoped that Megan would accept that.
"That's a possibility, hopefully soon." Charlie said before they went back to the board for the best way to further cut down the list and find the stalker.
