Chapter Ten

Late afternoon…

After hours of looking through letters, Don convinced Merrick to let the team take a break at the Craftsman, promising they'll continue to work there and they just needed to take a look with fresh eyes.

"Good, I don't want the press to get the idea that the FBI is slacking off on this case." Merrick had said

"Don't worry, we're still on top of it, sir." Don reassured his boss, knowing what the older man was talking about.

None of the agents minded, as they wanted to better get to know Alan and wanted to have an inside look on the Brothers Eppes when they were younger, though none of them would admit that to Don.

Alan was happy to see his sons, along with the team, as while he still felt uneasy about Don's job, he still wanted to get to know Colby and Megan, and he has grown fond of David, so he didn't mind the company.

"Thanks for letting us stay here Mr. Eppes." Megan said as she walked in with Colby following her close behind.

"No problem and please, just call me Alan." The Patriarch said with a smile as the agents nodded at the man's request.

Don and Charlie moved several boxes onto the couch with Larry's help and Don went to another room when his phone rang to see if it was an update or not.

Larry was lost in his thoughts, as he looked at the agents looking through their notes as well as Alan talking to Charlie about something related to working too much, something he had heard Charlie talk about before.

He then turned his attention to Megan, and took a breath as he decided he needed to talk to her at some point and he knew that it was best to do it soon.

'Whatever the outcome, it would be prudent to just discuss things with her.' Larry thought to himself as he approached her.

"Agent Reeves, mind if we had a talk?" He asked nervously

"Sure, Larry, what do you want to talk about?" Megan said smiling, relieved that she could take her mind off the case for a few minutes.

"I was wondering if it was possible if you would like to go for coffee at a permissible time?" Larry asked

Megan smiled, as she had been hoping to do something with the professor at some point and get to know him better.

"Sure, I'd like to do that, maybe this weekend, if possible?" Megan said

"Yes, Saturday morning works for me if it does for you." Larry said

"Sure, that I can do." Megan said, as Don walked back from his call and noticed the two talking, and just smiling to himself before interrupting.

"Hey, that was Matt, he found a lead on the case and he will be coming over to give more details, as he found a related incident related to the box we got today, and it was addressed to another celebrity couple that our guy thought was too close to the Lauers, so we'll talk to the couple tomorrow."

This made everyone feel uneasy, as this means that the stalker could soon escalate and they still have no idea who the person could even be.
