A/n: This I wanted to originally upload for the song prompt in Mayblade, but I didn't have the time to write it then. Managed to speed write this in under an hour today, so this is actually not that great, but I think you'll be able to understand why I think the vibe of this song suits TyHil. (The kids are back in this one btw)
Tale 21
- x -
Sunday morning, rain is falling
The sound of rain hitting the ocean was what stirred Hiromi, her eyes blinked open and she took a minute to adjust to the darkness around her. The digital clock on their bedside table told her that in just about 15 minutes or so her alarm would go off and the day would start. She turned and lay flat on her back, staring at the ceiling as she contemplated if she should leave the comfort of the bed right this instant or attempt to catch a few more minutes of sleep. Next to her she could feel her husband still sleeping peacefully, unbothered by the loud rain outside and probably unaware that the alarm would start blaring in a few minutes too, and she thought with a smile that he would definitely opt for the latter.
Steal some covers, share some skin
So she turned towards him, slipping her hands across his waist and stealing his warmth as best as she could. He had already kicked away the covers sometime during the night but she bought it back with her, covering the two of them under it, feeling as if she was hiding them from the day that awaited them. Oh if Hiromi could only stop time, she would always pick this moment to continue forever, being in bed with Takao, with no other care in the world. But she couldn't, so when she rested her chin on his bare chest, he stirred easily, mumbling away to let him sleep for just a little while longer, and she giggled.
Clouds are shrouding us in moments unforgettable
The weather outside seemed to get darker by the minute, and she could only imagine how she would feel once she stepped out to greet the grey clouds. Hiromi found herself wanting to prolong beginning the day for just a little bit longer, which was unusual for her, but it was only because she wanted to start the day on a bright note. Or maybe Takao's habits were finally rubbing off on her, and it was about time too, considering how many years they had spent waking up together like this every morning.
You twist to fit the mold that I am in
She felt his fingers comb through her hair, as he pushed himself closer to her, so he was awake too now she thought. She waited with baited breath, for Takao to plead to her that it was a Sunday and they were allowed spend a few extra minutes in bed, but his whining never came. Instead, his hand travelled from her hair to her cheeks, to her neck, to her bosom and then settled at her waist, leaving a trail of burning sensation across her skin. His arm fit around her waist perfectly, like that was where it was always meant to be and as he pulled her closer, his pounding heartbeat reached her ears, informing her that Takao didn't want to stay in bed because it was Sunday, but because he wanted something else.
But things just get so crazy
Just as Hiromi was about to lift her eyes to look at him, their alarm rang and exactly in sync the door to their bedroom door burst open. The sound of the rain and their alarm was drowned out completely as three of their kids jumped onto the bed, each one talking over the other as loudly as they could, giving Takao and Hiromi almost no time to collect themselves.
"It's raining!"
"We can't go to the amusement park now, can we?"
"But you promised to take us today, Dad!"
Living life gets hard to do
Glad that the blanket was still covering their state from their kids, Hiromi disentangled herself from her husband's grasp and managed to sit herself up, not even a second passed before her daughter latched herself onto her lap, and just as Takao got up, the twins followed suit and climbed onto him. She raised her eyes and found their oldest son leaning against the door of their room, looking like he too had been dragged out of his bed against his choice.
"Good morning." Toshiro muttered as his gaze met Hiromi's, he shrugged, "I tried to hold them off for as long as I could."
She smiled and nodded at him, and turned to face Takao instead, she thought he would look disgruntled about being woken up without a warning but he had already started a tickling war with Natsu and Haru, their laughter brightening up the room despite the grey clouds outside.
"I promised, didn't I?" Takao announced, looking up for a brief moment to catch her eye, "And I never break my promises, ask your mother."
And I would gladly hit the road, get up and go if I knew
And that was all it took, to get the kids back on their feet, running around the house to prepare themselves for the family outing. Hiromi was surprised when Takao was ready before her, and annoyed as he consistently reminded her that she was making them late while she double checked if they had packed everything they would need for the day. And by the time their family stuffed themselves into the minivan so they could hit the road, the rain started to slow down, and sure enough just like Takao had promised they arrived at the amusement park with the sun slipping out of the clouds to greet them.
As Toshiro watched the younger kids, Takao and Hiromi lined up to purchase the tickets, her hand moving on it's own to wrap itself around her husband's shoulders as they slowly moved forward in the queue.
That someday it would lead me back to you
"I thought you'd shoo the kids away." Hiromi stated out loud the thought that had been weighing on her mind since morning.
Takao looked at and grinned, "Am I that bad a father?"
"Of course not, that's not what I meant!" She defended herself immediately, knowing full well that he was just teasing her, but when had Hiromi been able to take a joke just as a joke?
"Relax, Hiromi chan." He laughed, pulling her forward with him, "I'm going to be waking up next to you until the very end, so I'll get what I want, if not today then tomorrow."
That someday it would lead me back to you

A/n: I am also going to upload a tumblr prompt I did ages ago that fits the prompt after this one, some of you may have already read that one.
Hoping to get at least two more TyHil oneshots done for the rest of the Mayblade challenge so wish me luck!
