Zephyr landed on a wet rock. Waterfalls roared around her, sprinkling her with little drops of water. All around her bridges stood between stones. And beyond an orange-red glow arose. She had made it. This was The Hidden World.

She pulled her map out of her satchel. Right now, she was at the entrance (she had named it the Gateway), which meant she had a long way to go until she reached her destination.

She walked across a bridge that led to a rope. Once she slid down it, she was twenty feet away from a dark tunnel connected by a bridge to the stone platform she stood on. Below her she could feel the heat of lava.

She walked through the tunnel, which was actually another bridge itself. The tunnel led her into a land of bright, amazing lights. The Moss Columns.

The Moss Columns were a section of The Hidden World where huge rock pillars were covered in glowing moss. Below them was glowing water, where Sea Shockers swam. The Moss Columns could be navigated by wooden ramps if you weren't lucky enough to have a dragon.

At the end of one ramp was a hut. Her parents had built it for when they visited. It contained food, water, and the most important thing—saddles. You could ride a dragon bareback, but it wasn't recommended…well, by her parents.

Zephyr walked inside the small hut. It looked a lot like her family home back on New Berk, except way less decorated. She went over to the saddle wall where six saddles hung. One was a dark purple and decorated with cut-out leather on the side to look like the moon and stars. That one was Zephyr's. She had made another like it for Nuffink—yellow leather with cut-outs of the sun and clouds. But he insisted on making his own saddle, black with green stripes on it. So, her brother had two saddles on the wall. Zephyr made sure they kept the one she made, just in case.

Two more saddles were her parents', just plain brown. What surprised Zephyr was that they kept them that way. The last one was bright green with symbols of lightning bolts painted in white, though no one had used it in ages.

Zephyr took her saddle off the wall and exited the cabin. She traveled to a different ramp, the one that led to the Swirling Waters. It didn't take too long to get there. Zephyr turned a corner.

Swirling Waters was a cave with a bunch of pits of multi-colored swirling water. Some pools had blue, pink, and purple waters. Others had red, yellow, and green water. This was Shadow Streak's favorite place to play…but she was nowhere in sight.

There was one other place Zephyr could try. She backtracked out of the cave hiding behind rocks to avoid dangerous dragons. Without a dragon, it was risky to travel The Hidden World. You never knew when a hungry dragon would forget a Viking's friendship with them.

Zephyr headed back through the Moss Columns to yet a different ramp. This one was long and extremely close to the water. It ended at a stone cave, nothing exciting, but if you walked a little farther…

The Fury Grove—a land of lush jungle vegetation including huge palm trees that towered over Zephyr. The foliage on the floor went up to her knees.

A large black shape swooped quickly overhead. Whatever had made the shadow landed behind Zephyr. It was…a dragon. The dragon was a combination of Night Fury and Light Fury, black with white splotches on its ears, nose, belly, back scales, and paws. White also covered most of its tail fins. It had blue eyes that reflected the light overhead pouring down into the Fury Grove from an unknown source.

"Shadow Streak!" Zephyr said as she stroked the dragon's ears.

Shadow Streak let out a little rawr-ing sound.

"Yeah, nice to see you too," Zephyr said quickly. "Now let's get this saddle on you befo…"

Four dragons flew up right next to Zephyr and Shadow Streak. One was a Night Fury, probably the last one left—Toothless, her dad's dragon. She had no idea why he was called that; he probably had more teeth than any Viking back home.

The one beside Toothless was a Light Fury. Zephyr's parents just called her "the Light Fury" though Zephyr and Nuffink had named her Burst. She was extremely shy and cautious. She was also the beginning of the event that had caused Vikings and Dragons to separate. Zephyr didn't hold that against Burst though…okay, maybe a little.

One of the dragons was panting and looking all over the place. He was also a Nightlight like Shadow Steak, but was white with black ears, back scales, and black on his tail fin. He had grey hind legs and green eyes. Claw was his name. Zephyr had thought Sun Fighter would be a better name, but he was her brother's dragon.

The final Nightlight was sitting in the corner barely noticeable. He was black with white only on his paws, back scales, belly, and a little bit on his tail fin. He had sharp green eyes and watched everybody's moves. Crackle. When he was younger, he had been more active; now though, he spent all day in the Fury Grove.

"Hi," Zephyr said, mainly to Toothless and Burst. "I'm just taking Shadow Streak out for a spin."

Claw sat down disappointed and made a sad face at Zephyr. He whimpered a little, or the dragon version of whimpering.

Toothless crept forward a little and Burst narrowed her eyes.

"Everyone else is at my family's hut," Zephyr said as she finished putting Shadow Streak's saddle on.

She hopped on Shadow Streak and flew out of Fury Grove.

Toothless watched as his daughter and Zephyr left Fury Grove. Claw excitedly craned his short neck towards the cave that led outside the Fury Grove. Toothless let out a rawr. Claw scampered out of the cave. Toothless sat down and yawned.

Burst frantically nudged Toothless and worriedly rawred.

Toothless took to the air and darted through the cave, chasing Claw. In the strange light of the Moss Columns, Toothless's green eyes glowed. Claw was straight ahead. He looked behind him and in a burst of a plasma blast turned invisible.

Toothless tracked behind and let out a plasma echo location wave. Claw was outlined in the air, right between two blue moss columns. Toothless summoned his alpha powers and shot a bolt of plasma lightning. It hit Claw and made him visible again.

Claw landed on the ramp where the hut stood. He readied his plasma blast. Toothless let out a roar. Claw didn't listen and blasted open the door. Fire was burning up the walls and some of the floor, but he appeared to not care and rushed inside. Toothless landed and put the fire out with his tail. Toothless rawred, trying to get his son's attention.

Claw knocked over a table and a chair looking around the wooden hut. Finding no one, he went upstairs. He came back down pouting and looking very disappointed. Toothless tilted his head and rushed up the stairs. All the rooms were empty.

Toothless growled.

Zephyr and Shadow Streak flew in and out of the moss columns, weaving through each one quickly in a zigzag pattern. The unique glow made Shadow Streak's blue eyes glow in the soft blue light. Then they came to plentiful rooms of coral and mushrooms. This place was called the Dragon Kingdom because…it sounded cool and Zephyr loved cool names for places. Shadow Steak effortlessly flipped and swirled in the air.

Soon they came to the Alpha Crystal, so called because that's where her father first saw Toothless in The Hidden World. The flat-topped crystal jutted up in the middle of the room with tons of other crystals surrounding it.

A shock wave of purple blew through the massive cave.

"Great, not my parents, but the Night Fury keeps me from flying," Zephyr groaned. "Will I ever win?"

Shadow Streak stopped flying forward and looked up at her.

"Hey, Shadow Streak," Zephyr said. "How about we try that disappearing trick again?"

Shadow Streak let out a burst of plasma and flew them right through the fire, but they didn't disappear. Shadow Streak sent out a harder blast. When they flew through this time, it worked. Zephyr and Shadow Streak were covered in a slimy substance.

"Ugh, I can't stand this stuff," Zephyr muttered.

Shadow Streak readied a burst to get rid of it.

"No, no, we can keep it," Zephyr said looking over her back. Toothless was flying towards them with…Claw? "Let's go somewhere else. Perhaps Swirling Waters, The Flame Cave, or maybe you want to show me a secret short cut back to the Gateway, eh, entrance?"

Shadow Steak flew right over the Alpha Crystal. Its glassy surface copied their reflections through its glow. It still was marvelous to Zephyr, even though she'd flown over it a thousand times now.

When they reached the end of the Alpha Crystal, Shadow Streak dropped.

"What are you doing? We're going to crash!" Zephyr yelled.

But Shadow Streak flew them through a small crevasse hidden by the Alpha Crystal's glow. It led to simple, grey stone caves.

"Well, not all of The Hidden World can be exciting, I guess," Zephyr said. At least it will hide us for a little bit, she thought.

A rainbow light appeared ahead. Shadow Streak flew them straight through it. They entered a cave full of crystals. An abundance of Light Furies flew in the huge complex of crystals. Zephyr had never even glimpsed this part of The Hidden World before.

"Woah," Zephyr said, though she barely got the words past her mouth.

Little dragons with pastel purple, green, and yellow scales flew past. They had multi-colored wings that were sort of see-through. Lots of horns poked out of their heads and jaws. And they had long tails where the little fins going down their backs ended.

Toothless and Claw appeared at the front of the cave and Zephyr was pulled out of the grandness of the new caves she had discovered.

"Fly!" Zephyr whispered to Shadow Streak.

Shadow Streak flew up and Zephyr hit her head. "Oww…that hurt."

Toothless shot a blast of electrified plasma in their direction. Once it hit, it made Shadow Streak and Zephyr visible.

"I'm so dead," Zephyr moaned.
