Sonja got back home just in time to snag Lasalle and head back to work. Celia was watching Caden and even though Dre had been caught, they weren't taking any chances. An NOPD officer was stationed outside their home. They both waved to him as Sonja drove away.
"Alright City Mouse, what did King say?"
"That you need to decide between Patton and Sebastian because he is walking me down the aisle."
"Seriously?"
"Yup. He agreed to give me away."
"So what am I supposed to do?"
"Choose between Patton and Sebastian."
"Do you even know how hard that is going to be for me?"
"At least its you and not me," Sonja said with a chuckle.
Chris looked at her as a slow smile spread across his face.
"What are you smiling at?" she asked.
"Who's gonna be your maid of honor, Gregorio or Brody?"
Sonja almost stopped their truck right in the middle of the road. She hadn't thought of that. But she held it together and managed to get them to the office in one piece. She sat motionless in the truck as Lasalle jumped out and came around to the driver side. He opened the door.
"Earth to Percy."
"How am I supposed to choose between them?"
"Now you know my dilemma."
"Well I think whichever way we do this, Brody should be with Patton and Gregorio with Sebastian."
"Agreed. But how do we pick who is who?"
"We need Pride. He will know."
"Do you really want to tell him we can't pick between our friends? Or make him feel bad that he said yes to you since its causing us another problem?"
"Then who do we talk to?"
"What about Miss Loretta?" Chris asked.
"Oh Doc Wade would know what to do! You're a genius Christopher!"
"You just now figuring that out?" he asked of his bride to be.
"Boy, don't play with me," Sonja said as she gently pushed him to the door.
The team began to work on their current case and managed to break around 11:00 am for an early lunch. Instead of heading for the deli down the street or to Pride's kitchen, Lasalle and Percy headed for the morgue. They needed to figure out this wedding business and Loretta Wade was one for making sound decisions.
They found her at her desk going over an autopsy report.
"Hello Ms. Loretta," Christopher said.
"Christopher, Sonja, what are you two doing here?"
"We need your help," Sonja said.
"About?"
"Our wedding."
"What do you need dears?" Loretta asked.
"We have a dilemma trying to figure out who is going to be the best man and the maid of honor," Sonja said.
"I figured you would ask Pride to be your best man," Loretta said to Christopher.
"I wanted to but Percy asked him to give her away instead. He said yes."
"Oh that's wonderful! I'm sure Dwayne is so excited," Loretta said to Percy.
"He is but that leaves us in a predicament."
"Between Patton and Sebastian," Chris said.
"And whether I'm going to have Gregorio or Brody as my maid of honor," Sonja added.
"Merri is coming?" Loretta asked.
"Yeah she is and we are so excited for her to be with us but what do we do, Doc Wade?" Sonja asked.
"We figured you'd know best on how to handle this," Christopher added.
"Well dears, I would simply not use titles. You both know you want everyone with you on that day so don't define it and just enjoy it. Theoretically you only get married once."
"That's a great idea," Christopher said, looking at his bride to be.
"But who walks with whom?" she asked.
"I would have Merri with Patton and Tammy with Sebastian," Loretta said.
"Sounds perfect to me," Christopher said again looking at Sonja.
"Works for me too. Thanks Doc Wade."
"Anytime my dears."
The pair headed back to the office, feeling immensely better about their wedding. The case was taking off as they got back and would involve a long stakeout so Pride paired Gregorio with Sebastian and Lasalle with Percy. Christopher called his mother to let her know they would be home late.
"Take your time honey. Caden and I are doing just fine."
"Thanks Mama," Chris said.
Sitting in the truck on stakeout, Sonja couldn't help flipping through a bridal magazine as Christopher kept eyes on the target's warehouse.
"Isn't this a beautiful place?" Sonja asked him, showing an article about honeymoons in the Bahamas.
"It's okay but we get tons of sun and warm weather right her. Why go for that on our honeymoon?"
"Because it's a tropical adventure. Would you rather go somewhere cold? I hate the cold."
"That just means I can get you to stay in bed longer," Christopher said with a wink.
"Is that all you think about?" she asked him, already knowing the answer.
"Well I am a guy so I'd have to say about 75% of the time, yes."
"I'd say 85% for me," a voice crackled in their ears and they realized it was Patton.
"As a woman, I'd say 80%," Tammy said over her comm.
"Well at least I have other things on my mind. I'd say I think about sex 50% of the time," Sebastian's voice claimed.
"I think we could all think about our stakeout instead of sex," Pride called out and everyone kind of laughed. There was never a true secret conversation with a stakeout. But that's what made these conversations so fun. You never know what someone else's opinion might be.
"Sorry Pride," Sonja said.
"We'll try better King," Christopher added.
"You won't do any such thing and you know it," Sonja said to her other half.
"Hey you can take the boy out of the country but you can't take the country out of the boy," he said with a sly smile that made Sonja go weak in the knees. Thank God she was already sitting down. She leaned over and gave him a searing kiss that would've made a nun blush.
"How's that for country?" she asked.
"Hot damn woman, you kiss me like that again and I might have to marry you," he said with a chuckle.
"Can you guys even try to be professional?" Patton asked.
"Not on your life, Patton," Christopher said with that smile again. The whole team groaned on the other end of the comms but the groan was short lived as their target left the warehouse. Everyone quietly slipped out of their vehicles before surrounding the man, James Cottonbush. He was accused of selling drugs to navy sailors on shore leave. Luckily they were able to take Cottonbush into custody without incident and Pride told everyone that they could do paperwork in the morning.
Lasalle didn't waste time and ushered Percy back to the truck. Pride agreed to take Cottonbush in for processing. Everyone else said their goodbyes and scampered off. Once Lasalle had Percy securely back in the truck, he all but attacked her neck as that kiss had left nothing to be desired. He nipped and nibbled at the flesh and heard her sigh softly.
"Christopher..."
"Can't seem to get you alone long enough to do anything, someone is always there. Pride, the team, Mama, Caden. God Sonja, I don't think I've ever wanted someone as much as I want you now."
"I want you too Christopher, but do you really want some hookup in the truck?"
"No," he said as he sat back in his seat, more frustrated than before.
"How about we take a night away and just be able to connect again? The wedding is putting so much pressure on us and we need the break."
"Tomorrow night, we can get a room at a hotel."
"Works for me Country Mouse."
"Then let's get home City Mouse."
