I don't own these characters or Supergirl.

AN: World'snumber1scaredycat In response to your review, I hated it too. On one hand, I understood why Lena would be upset, but to let it get *that* far just hurt my soul.

For those waiting on an update, I apologize for the delaaayyyy. I have been playing phone tag with Congress to secure research funding for a rare disease. I have zoom meetings with them and it's been HECTIIIIC. I promise to set more time aside once I'm done. But here y'all go! Have a wonderful day. Reviews welcome and suggestions encouraged!

Kara was 18 when she had her first brush with Kryptonite. She was between semesters at NCU and at home with Eliza stargazing with the new telescope her adoptive mother bought. Alex was away often because of her training at the FBI, but this was a rare occurrence that both her girls were home with her. Eliza was grateful.

Atop a cliffside on the furthest outskirts of Midvale, Alex and Kara bickered on a blanket.

"Absolutely not. I get to use it first!" Kara harrumphed and folded her arms over her chest. The signature doe eyes began to crumble the older Danvers' resolve. Eliza chuckled. Never in a million years would she ever have thought the girls would get here as quickly as they did. After Jeremiah's death, Kara withdrew into herself. Superman came by as often as he could, but it didn't help. Alex withered, Kara sunk further into the guilt of his death. Eliza worked. Everyone had a difficult time, but Alex sprung back first, surprisingly. She had to. She had one semester left and once that was done, she was recruited to work with the FBI for her scientific background. Both her girls had a passion for science, and Kara being from Krypton gave her an edge over Alex, but she never boasted or pretended to know more. She let Alex figure out solutions first, but Kara already knew the answers. And Eliza was grateful to have someone like Kara challenge Alex, push her and make her better.

It was with Alex's acceptance that Kara Zor-El became a Danvers.

"Fine! Just be quick, shithead." Kara gasped, feigning insult, and with a playful shove, pushed Alex to the telescope.

"Go ahead, Alex." Kara spoke softly. A trait that Eliza found endearing. Despite the sheer amount of loss Kara has experienced, she never raised her voice. She could sing like a canary, whisper like the winds in the trees, talk so eloquently, poets would weep, but never yelled.

Alex crouched in front of the eyepiece and let out a low whistle.

"This is amazing, Mom." They continued to wait turns to peer through the lens, Eliza stood this time, Alex and Kara giggling behind her about something she didn't quite understand when Kara yelled for the first time in the eldest Danvers presence.

"Eliza! Get down!" she screamed.

Eliza pulled away to see a fireball headed right for the cliffside. Her eyes widened, but Kara was faster. She zipped passed Eliza, over the cliffside in a swift change of running to flight. Her fist connected with the meteorite, shattering the hunk of space rock into dust. Normally, an encounter like this wouldn't be cause for alarm, but when the smoke cleared, the debris fell to Earth, and so did Kara. Alex nearly hurled herself after Kara, but Eliza held her back.

"Kara!" Alex cried, searching for movement along the treeline below. There was none. "Kara!"

"Kara." Kara stirred subtly. The voice was familiar, but in her hazy state, she couldn't quite place it. She mumbled, her eyes still firmly shut. She wanted to sleep more, but the bed shifted. Someone sat down and started poking her face. She grumbled, covering her face with her comforter.

"Kara, get up. You slept in." Alex. It was Alex. Kara's conscience began to catch up with her. Oh no. She was supposed to meet J'onn at the DEO. When the thought crossed her sluggish mind, her eyes flew open. Comforter flung to the side, Kara was up in an instant. Her tired eyes cleared and she fumbled with her nightstand retrieving her glasses. A cracking sound startled her. She looked down at her hand, blue eyes widened.

"I broke them." she whispered. Alex, reached out with her hand, prying the glasses Jeremiah had given the blonde from her tight grip.

"It's okay, Kar." Alex knew how much these glasses meant to her. It was one of the last things Jeremiah had given her before he died. These were akin to the blanket Linus carried to Kara. A safety blanket.

"C'mon, put on the other ones until we fix these. J'onn is impatient this morning." Numbly, Kara stood and got ready a little slower than Alex would like to see.

"Are you feeling alright?" The older Danvers sibling asked. Kara nodded rapidly.

"Yeah, yeah. I just. Oh Rao. I didn't sleep well last night. The anniversary is next week and I just…couldn't sleep." No explanation was needed. Alex knew what anniversary she was speaking about.

"I know. I miss him too, Kar." Ten minutes and one long, soul squeezing hug later, both Danvers were out the door.

"Good morning, team." A mumbled reply and broken 'morning, Director' echoed through the crowd. Kara was in her new Supergirl get-up, and she praised Rao that Lena included pants this time.

"Today, we have a guest coming to the facility to offer any aid in investigating these new claims of an anti-alien terrorist organization. She is intimately familiar with our suspected leader and will help set up a trap. I expect a warm welcome and professionalism. Dismissed." He warned. He didn't have to say it, the tone suggested disciplinary actions would be taken. Once the agents dispersed and milled about, doing their assigned duties for the day, J'onn turned to Kara and Alex.

"Supergirl, how is the new suit?" The coy smirk he sported gave away his intent. Kara forgets how perspective the Martian is. Despite Kryptonians being almost immune to psychic prodding, J'onn always seemed to know how she felt, and who she felt it towards. To him, she was an open book. The blonde hero rolled her eyes, a faint smile graced her features.

"It's fine, Director. Oh! I forgot to tell you. Miss Luthor included an anti-kryptonite barrier. I don't know if your team found it with their poking and prodding, but it's triggered by pressing the crest." J'onn raised his eyebrows in surprise.

"Wow. She's definitely smart. I'll give her that." It takes a lot to impress the Martian Manhunter. One Lena Luthor seems to do that a lot lately. Smiling subconsciously, Kara agreed.

"If Lena were from Krypton, she would be highly respected in the Science Guild." Much to Alex's shame, she hardly asked about Krypton. She knew there were several factions that made up the Guilds. The Science Guild was the one Kara was created for.

"Supergirl, you should tell me more about the Guilds. For cultural enrichment." Alex interrupted suddenly. Kara paused, blinking a couple times. Alex definitely caught her by surprise.

"Oh..Of-of course. I'd love to Alex. Agent! Agent Alex. I mean…Agent Danvers." Kara stumbled over her words. The older sister laughed heartily.

"Alex is fine, Supergirl." she teased, causing the blonde hero's cheeks to dust a light pink in embarrassment.

Kara was standing at the command center, reading an odd anomaly with Brainy when she heard the clickin of a familiar Louboutins. She knew the gait by heart. Lena was here. Kara became quite nervous and out of habit, started working her cape between her index and middle finger. J'onn eyed the Kryptonian as he entered the command center. He knew better than to push the Kryptonian. He called the team over the intercom and soon agents filled the space.

"Remember, be professional." he reminded as the hydraulic doors hissed open and in came the CEO accompanied by two agents. Escorts, Kara assumed.

"Everyone, this is Lena Luthor, assuming you read the news." a soft, nervous laughter came into the room as she made her way over to J'onn and Kara. She shook J'onn's hand with a polite smile and greeting. Supergirl stood taller as she turned to her, but instead of taking her hand, she inclined her head and spoke a soft greeting in a language Kara thought to be known by two people. To remain a pillar of strength, she returned the typical Kryptonian greeting. Alex looked perplexed, and perhaps a bit wary of the youngest Luthor.

"How do you know Kryptonese?" she asked plainly. J'onn shot her a warning look, but Lena took no offense. It was peculiar that a Luthor would know Supergirl's native tongue.

"When Lex became unhinged, he became obsessed with knowing everything there was to know about Krypton. He prided himself on his knowledge and was convinced he would have been a high member of the council. In turn, he knew my affinity for picking up languages with ease. He forced me to learn the language. I'm sorry if I overstepped, Supergirl, I meant no offense." Kara, still a bit stunned nodded.

"I'm not offended. It caught me by surprise, I'll admit. But I am flattered." she replied. When the CEO turned to the screen, studying the data scrolling passed, Kara caught Alex's eye and shook her head. A warning to back off. She held her hands up in surrender and mouthed Fine, for now. Kara rolled her eyes and stood at Lena's side.

"Can you show me the map where CADMUS has struck?" Lena asked. Brainy pressed a few keystrokes and the lines of data minimized and the map with red dots popped into view.

"These are all the places CADMUS has hit. But it all seems random. A bar, a grocery store, a concrete plant, NCU medical building…" he trailed off, contemplating, looking for a pattern.

Lena's brow furrowed. Kara glanced over, tracing her eyes over Lena's profile. She was wearing large, round wire glasses. She didn't realize Lena wore glasses.

As if feeling The Girl of Steel studying her, she turned. Kara's face flushed.

"I had lasik done, I wear these to help with filter blue light from staring at a computer screen." she answered, assuming what Kara was staring at correctly.

"I'm sorry for staring." she mumbled, taking a small step away. Lena chuckled.

"Also, glasses are a great disguise it turns out. Nobody ever recognizes me. I wear these when I want to walk around downtown without being harassed by the Paparazzi." Kara's eyes widened for a fraction of a second.

Does she know? Lena took command of a nearby terminal, sitting in the seat. Minutes went by before Kara came to lean behind her, studying the same data.

As Lena continued to study the data points and cross referencing them with known struck locations, she paused.

"Has anyone ever told you that you smell like ozone and lavender?" she asked, without turning to face the Kryptonian she knew stood behind her. Kara straightened her back from the hunched over position.

"Um. No." she answered lamely. Lena was silent while she continued her work. A grin broke out.

"Ha! I figured it out!" she shouted triumphantly. "I know what they're looking for and I know where they're going next." She stood and turned abruptly, bumping into a startled Supergirl. Kara grabbed her upper arm to steady her. Lena's heart rate skyrocketed, and her breathing became shallow. Kara swallowed thickly. After she was steady on her feet, Kara took a step back, staring at the raven haired CEO. Lena cleared her throat, stepping past the tall blonde on her way to Agent Danvers. She stopped a few paces from the hero and whispered.

"It's unique, but lovely."
