Chapter 12- Making of the Legendary Fiend

Annabelle refused to dine with them for dinner and most of what they cooked Luanne and Marik cooked were complimented by Badru and Samara. The twins kept joking about their new guest and also to their surprise, his birthday was the same day as well. Marik was passing the poultry to Luanne as it was being offered and explaining that he is vegetarian.

"So how were the few days away from home, did you have fun with Namu?" Badru asked his daughter.

"Oh yeah dad, it was only errands so nothing much but I had a lot of fun." Luanne replied.

"I see an errand boy, you must have wanted a job. What is your name son?" Badru asked Marik who was sitting opposite him as the head of the family.

"Errand boy? Who are you calling an errand boy?!" Marik sneered.

"Dad!" Luanne almost giggled and then glared as she sat in between the Idogbe and Atsu.

"Badru, an 'errand boy' works for and employer, he could be an expat from overseas. Do you want some potatoes honey?" Samara asked Luanne.

"Well it would be polite to ask him at least guys." Luanne giggled. She glanced at Marik who was absolutely unamused at her parent's conversation.

"Yes it would, I am rather on a quest in changing the world, similar to Luanne and I rather not reveal what I do now with such haughtiness your family displays, Luanne." Marik dropped his cutleries and wiped his mouth with a napkin.

"Oh Namu, this is how we loosen up our conversation sweetheart." Samara chuckled. Then silence, a very awkward silence in the meal occurred. Atsu then nudged Luanne.

"I like to be an errand boy and an expat in Dubai some day." The rest of the family laughed except for Marik who is feeling the urge to antagonise the household as they unaware of the current position he holds.

"Alright kiddo, you don't need to have reveal what you do if it rankles you. Luanne loves to reveal everything about her life. She likes taking risks but always brings a good omen to this household." Badru commented.

"Huh, tell me about it." Marik smiled sarcastically glancing at the Egyptian girl. Wondering why he chose to spend his Christmas with the Khaits and not with the Rare Hunters.

A little while later, Wati came home with a bottle of beer in his hand and inebriated. He barely noticed his family and staggered up to his room.

Luanne finished her dish and wanted to talk to Wati so she went upstairs. She knocked on the door. Badru and Marik were in an engaging conversation about The Egyptian defence force.

"Hey Wati, do you want some dinner?" Luanne knocked on the door. No answer but a groan, which sounded like a 'no'. Luanne asked again but this time about Christmas presents.

Marik left the family's company by pretending he needed to go to the bathroom and from the middle of the stairs spied at Luanne. Wati came to the door and looked rather disgruntled and unpleasant manner towards his little sister. "You are deaf like hell. I don't fucking care for a presents so scoot!" Wati yelled and slammed the door at Luanne. Marik narrowed his eyes. His hands became a fist and gritted his teeth. He observed Luanne's disappointment. Luanne went to her room as she pondered about how heavy the sudden emotion came to her. Marik came upstairs to her room and quietly closed the door.

"Oh you must be quite sensitive to be such a snivelling state. I'm guessing that was your brother." Marik said mockingly.

Luanne was taken aback. "It is none of your concern…" She scowled

"But it is, if you breakdown emotionally in front of my subjects in a meeting one day… I have read girls are highly emotional." The Egyptian blond brought leaned by the doorframe.

"There is something in my eye." Luanne lied.

"Luanne! Come open your presents!" Samara called out from below.

"Well, you better not keep you family waiting, for I assure you that this invitation is going to change his current state." Marik thought this was too convenient to have two working siblings of a politician children working for him. Luanne opened the bag with unwrapped presents and brought it downstairs. Marik cross his arms followed her bored.

"Sorry I didn't have a chance to wrap them but this is for you mum." Luanne gave Samara a bottle of perfume. The twins got their Pokemon cards and Batman costumes.

Atsu then laughed, "I know, Luanne you can be Harley Quinn and we can be the Abramovici Twins! Dad can be Batman and mum can be Selina Kyle."

"Uh Atsu, we're a little old for that" Samara said in a stern voice.

"Who is Selina Kyle?" Luanne asked.

"Catwoman." Idogbe added.

"Atsu, yeah I don't think our whole family is going to play your Batman obsession." Luanne giggled.

"And you!" Atsu pointed to the Egyptian blonde. Marik was taken aback. "Namu is going to be Joker." Luanne palmed face.

"I'd rather be Scarlet Witch from the Avengers." Luanne said and watched their parents walk upstairs again.

"No, it has to be DC Universe, not Marvel."

"I thought they were the same." Luanne sulked.

"Hey Luanne, we bought a bunch of Duel Monster cards but we really kinda hate playing it." Idogbe said as he grabbed a deck to Luanne.

"I'm already having trouble collecting the right amount of cards, I'm don't need another deck. I'll duel you if you want to try for once." Luanne rolled her eyes.

"Well mum says you shouldn't be duelling if you want to get into scholarship. I mean our trip to Japan to see the Kaiba Corp tower was pointless too. I only wanted to catch up with Mokuba. He kept saying we should play Duel Monsters because it's like popular and stuff but we're like if Seto teaches us, then Atsu and I will consider it." Idogbe explained as Luanne was thinking.

"Yeah I remember the stupid tour, I ended up being stuck inside the elevator during a stupid demonstration of the fire drill. Even worse I had to be saved right in front of the crowd of people. Agh! It was so embarrassing! Luanne confessed and blushed.

"Do you have a crush on Seto?" Atsu asked.

"I don't think sis has a crush on anybody. Anyway, could you take it Luanne?" Idogbe frowned at his twin. Luanne was very hesitant to take the deck.

Atsu then said, "'Joker' Namu might know how to duel, he can teach you Luanne. He is the crown prince of Cairo to Luanne 'Quinn', ahahahaha" Luanne and Idogbe both palm faced at Atsu and Marik glared at his two distasteful nicknames, even though he was acknowledged for the fact he is a great duellist and perhaps much more than the infamous Seto Kaiba of Domino. He smirked at the thought and strolled towards Luanne and her twins.

"Namu, doesn't know how to duel well." Luanne said sarcastically and the glanced at Marik.

"Well neither are you competent in duelling either my 'Harley Quinn'. How about we do a double duel. Idogbe and I will come up with a deck name using my existing deck and his deck. Luanne and Atsu could make your own strategy." Marik suggested.

Luanne sighed, "You must be in a very good mood huh, Mm-Namu?"

"If it was work related, I'd have a catch and this is for fun. I spend too much time dictating rules in such a strict order and regulation, I want a bit of mutual fun." Marik grinned. He held out his hand to Idogbe's deck and he drew out his own.

"Namu, you can have my deck if you want." Idogbe offered. Luanne and Atsu sat further

Marik chuckled with disbelief. "Your sister deserves the deck more than I do. Alright you have 'Legendary Fiend', that's is a good card. Shall we call our deck that"?

5 minutes later, Marik and Idogbe finished forting out their deck and Luanne was still struggling to figure out which deck

"Are you done yet?" Marik called out.

"Too much tribute summons, I can't do this, Oh my god!" Luanne panicked.

"Relax, so what is your deck called?" Marik laughed as he sat on the lounge with Idogbe.

"Gotham…" Luanne glared at Atsu who was the one behind the obsession with Batman.

"We are starting with 8000 life points because we are children watching duel monsters in action." Idogbe said.

"It' s suppose to be 2000 life points but it'll get too boring." Marik reminded.

"What happens if you were duelling with your company and so on…?" Luanne asks feeling a little nervous about the whole duel.

"Calamity to the soul of my opponents, you should be glad this is just for fun. You may go first Luanne. Don't disappoint me." Marik smirked.

"Oh hey, I special summon 'The tricky' and discards a card to the graveyard. And I set 3 cards face down." she draws 5 cards from her deck and places it on the desk.

"Very well I summon Dark Jeroid and attack you monster. I activate coffin seller while I'm at it. And I do lose 300 point as your card is better than mine. However I also activate Vengeful Bog Spirit and set a card face down. Your turn my dear." Atsu just scowled at Marik as he just called his sister 'dear'.

"Activate fighting spirit and equip it on the tricky and I attack Dark Jeroid with strike slash. And since my other was revealed I use x head cannon to attack you directly." Luanne smiled.

"I will just put a card face down and end my turn." Marik glared at her.

"I draw and I'm just going to attack your monster and with the tricky and yeah repeat. Haha go Harley!"

"My revival jam does come back you know. With that I summon helpoemer. Now your monster can't beat him." Marik cackled.

"I set a card face down, by tribute summoning."

"Not so fast, my coffin sellers reduces you life points by 300." Marik lightly tapped her hand.

"Oh shit! Oh right I set my card on defence position. It's a card facing down too. Ok your turn."

Now I attack your monster…" Marik spoke smoothly.

"Nope, I reveal my trap justi-break and sends all our monsters to the grave."

"What! Fine… just a reminder you can't attack me this turn because of my ongoing spell." Marik pointed again.

"What ever I summon Destroyer golem anyway." Luanne growled.

"I set a card face down. By the way my trap and coffin seller is draining your life points. It's your turn. "

" Summon cyber soldier of darkworld-"

"You can't attack with that and for that your life points keep assailing. I draw and place a card down." Marik kept reminding her.

"Okay I summon Amazonian fighter. I use cyber soldier to attack your bowgonian in defence position.

"I summon lekunga. Since you can't attack me again." The boy placed the card on the table.

"I activate burden of the mighty. Your monster's attack points drops and now I attack your face down card." Luanne was so uncertain with what se just said.

"Luanne you can't because my spirit reaper cannot be destroyed."

"OK! I will just continue to put a card down and your turn again." She rolled her eyes.

" I set a tribute summon dragon jungle king and another face down card."

"Nothing works there… my new card will take your card for a while. Yeah this is too amusing. You really think you can beat me?" Marik tapped her nose.

"I am beating you though."

"Not really." Marik tsked.

"My turn I activate full salvo and end my turn"

"Now I set a card facing down"

"So do I and end my turn."

"No I have nothing either." Marik sighed.

"I summon a card then, the cursed dragon." She waited and nothing happned as she was still trapped. "I tribute summon my millennium scorpion and I attack with dragon jungle king on your monster.

'No, my Newdoria allows me to also destroy your monster." Marik sighed.

"What!"

"I also set another spell or trap and now your turn rafflesia allows me to take your monster away though..." Marik flipped his card over.

"I tribute summon dark red enchanter."

"Still trapped there? " Marik glanced at her.

"Yeah" As she tried to remember if she placed a card in her deck that could help her.

10 minutes later the twins were sleeping and both their life points were equally 200. "You see Luanne, I planned well and I'm always ahead of you. It is because of my nightmare wheel is activated that you are now stuck. How about my revival jam aiding you a bit."

"But I have four strong monster out now." Luanne whinned.

"You have lost and I'm glad you get to see my plans. Your little brothers are asleep and it would be rude of me to claim these monsters but he was happy to give them to me normally when I duel I like putting my opponents with immense pressure and shame but not to you. I really want to let you see how tough it is to battle a in the real world. It isn't about strong monsters as your 3000 attack points but it has to have a strategy."

She looked at the decks Marik had separated. It is the one clearly her from Idogbe to her. She doesn't need it. "Marik, I like you to have it, you won it fair and square."

"I don't want it…" Marik shook his head but Luanne gave him the deck. "Although it is rare for me to have children offer their deck to me. I usually just have my cards obtained by Rare Hunters. A task that they have failed often though their incompetence."

"Well have you considered that their incompetence is due to the civil and statuary law of Egypt? Unless your expectations are very high a-and room for human error has a larger percentage." Luanne can't believed she just had a one to one confrontation with the leader of the Rare Hunter's about how he runs his own organisation. I quickly dawned on her and she bit her lips. "Please don't hurt me!"

"What a fool… I know, and if you were to join my ranks, as a Rare Huntress… you' won't even survive a second, as you will fall for your opponents trap. You are fine where you are girl." He points to Luanne's nose as though he was speaking to a child.

"Well, like you would enjoy sending my soul to the estranged realm you simultaneously mentioned, so I'm being cautious in how I would approach you because you said you may have been misrepresented when we first met Infiltration, Manipulation and Subjugation is a bitter-sweet disposition, how could you think of murdering people?" Luanne fiddled with Idogbe's deck.

"You must be bored overthinking about our conversation. Tomorrow I will be in Wādī al Mulūk and I expect you to accompany me there."

"Charity event tomorrow, do you want to-"

"You have no other choice in the matter, first thing in the morning we leave. Now lead me to my room. I think we both need some good shut eye before departing." Marik stared down at her. Then she pretended she agreed to it. She led the way trying to find a way to escape quickly to the Queens Hospital.

"Okay, your room is here, I mean I could downsize the room for you but this is the most spacious room and even library. I spend my solitude here reading, as it is my own grand library and this is yours. Anyway goodnight!" Luanne handed her brother's deck to him.

"Oh, goodnight…" Marik said from behind. She left the room holding her breath and went to the bathroom. Luanne grabbed her essentials for traveling once again from her room. She has to go to 'sleep' and then wake up tonight to sneak out alone. Yes alone to be part of the charity event and it is the only way to subtly refuse going to Luxor.
