Logan groaned as he regained consciousness. He was lying on a bed inside what seemed to be an infirmary. His friends were present, looking at him with worried expressions.

"Logan? Are you alright?" Destiny asked her boyfriend.

"I think... Ouch," Logan groaned as he felt an intense pain in his head, arms, sides and legs. "Where am I? What happened?"

"You passed out after your match; Destiny picked you up and brought you to the infirmary," Jim explained.

Everything instantly came back to Logan's mind: his reunion with his former friends, Drake's hurtful words, his fight against him... The last words he told him before leaving. "How long have I been out?"

"Six hours. This fight drained a lot out of you," Ezra responded.

"Great," Logan mumbled with shaking his head. "Sorry about that, guys. I didn't wanna make you worried. But don't be; I'm fine, really."

"What happened back there?" Destiny asked. "During the match?"

Logan rubbed the back of his head. "Yeah, I went all out, but looks like that wasn't enough to take Drake out of the game. There's no reason to be surprised, I mean, he's like the best guy in my former class-"

"Stop lying!" Destiny exclaimed with an unusually serious tone, causing everyone to look at her in surprise. "I saw everything! During the last moments of the match, you were on equal foot with Drake, but then, something happened! Your desire to fight disappeared from your face, and you lowered your sword; why?"

Logan stared at Destiny for a moment, doing the same with all of his other friends as they looked at him as well, expecting an answer from him. Eventually, he let out a loud sigh and dropped his head. "Because... everything Drake said was true... I-I'm not sure I know what makes me different now from who I was back then..."

"What do you mean?" Sprig asked.

"You all know the reason I decided to come here, to the Magical World, in the first place. I did something horrible to all my friends that drove them away from me - not only that, but I also dishonored the one thing I love the most. I know that I decided to take the path of redemption and become a different person... but the truth is that, I'm not sure if I succeeded. I'm afraid that the part of me who betrayed my friends' trust is still somewhere inside, ready to strike..."

"Not that again," Sprig scoffed with a wave of his hand. "Dude, I thought you had already gotten over this whole ordeal. You've proven yourself by becoming a Disney Defender. Besides, don't you remember what Gabriel and Rachel told you about all of his before?"

"YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND!" Logan suddenly exclaimed, causing his friends to jump back in shock. "Everything was once exactly as they are right now for me before! I had lots of good friends, was doing things I liked, and was held in good esteem by the guy I idolized the most! Drake always told me I had a lot of potential and would do great stuff as an artist, just like I always dreamed to! But then, I did one thing wrong, one! And everything fell apart!"

He pointed a finger at Sprig. "Do you have any idea what it's like being told by one of your idols that you're a horrible person, and that you should stop practicing your passion? What if I commit a big mistake again, lose the respect of Gabriel and disappoint the faith Rachel and Master Yen Sid have in me?!" Logan dropped his head again and touched his forehead with his hand while trying to hold back his tears. "I don't want to lose all the people I care about again... I don't want to lose you, Destiny... I don't want Gabriel and Rachel to hate me..."

Tears formed in Logan's eyelids as a song started playing alongside flashbacks of his past.

Deception

Disgrace

Evil as plain as the scar on his face

We see a younger version of Logan standing before one of Disney's artistic schools, a huge smile on his face. He ran forward, excited to finally start going after his dream.

Deception (An outrage!)

Disgrace (For shame!)

He asked for trouble the moment he came

During a class, Logan was sitting at his desk, drawing things in his notebook, when he looked up and saw Drake displaying an amazing piece of art he was asked to do by the teacher. Everybody was impressed, but not as much as Logan, who had stars in his eyes.

Disgrace (For shame!)

(You know these Outsider types)

Evil as plain as the scar on his face

Drake was working on another drawing in his notebook when Logan shyly approached him, introducing himself. After talking for a bit, Drake invited Logan to sit down with him, and they did some drawings together, the more experienced artist giving advice and tips to the younger one.

Disgrace (For shame!)

(Traitor, go back with your own!)

He asked for trouble the moment he came

Logan and Drake slowly evolved across the years alongside their friends, many scenes of them working hard, having fun together and sharing their dreams for the future passing through.

Born in grief

Raised in hate

Helpless to defy his fate

Finally, came the time of the big drawing competition to get a tryout at Walt Disney Studio. At school, Logan was looking nervous as he slept so much on his project that he didn't know what to do. He then spotted Dante's project work on a table, looked all around to make sure nobody saw him, and then went to copy the work in his notebook, making sure to add his own touch so that people wouldn't recognize it.

Let him run

Let him live

But do not forget what we cannot forgive

On the day of the competition, Logan's work surprised everybody, earning him the reward. He received congratulations and praise from all his teachers, classmates and friends. The next day, as he returned in class, he was surprised to see the entire class giving him serious looks. The teacher showed him his project alongside Dante's, pointing out the similarities.

And he is not one of us

He has never been one of us

Logan was brought to the school counselor's office where he received a big scolding, got his reward taken from him, and given a suspension note. Things did not go better when he walked out of the office to meet his classmates and friends. Whereas Dante, Talise and Orange looked shocked and disappointed, Drake and Chad seemed beyond furious.

He is not part of us

Not our kind

As Drake and Chad yelled at Logan for betraying their trust, stealing Dante's work, and dishonoring everything that Disney is supposed to stand for, the young artist looked at Dante, Talise and Orange turning their heads away in disappointment. In the end, they all walked away, leaving Logan alone as he started crying.

Someone once lied to us

Now we're not so blind

Logan returned to his home. He sat in his living room, running through his notebook and all the drawings he made. He ended up looking at the project he made - or rather stole - for the competition. Frowning, he angrily tossed his notebook away and curled on the couch, never wanting to draw again.

For we knew he would do what he's done

And we know that he'll never be one of us

He is not one of us

Still at home, many months later, Logan was running on his school's website to see the publications of his former friends, watching them growing toward their dreams without him as he chose to drop out of school after what happened. We see Logan taking on many jobs to buy himself trips to Disney World as well as to make a collection of Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars merchandise to forget about his pain.

As the song played its final soft notes, we see Logan playing video games in his living room. At one point, he noticed his Magical Notebook he hadn't touched in years. He picked it up, ran through his old drawings, and sighed with a sad expression, missing practicing his passion. Turning off his video game console, he decided to practice his Drawing Magic once again. One day, he learned about the Next Sorcerer's Apprentice reality show in the Magical World, with the reward being a chance to intern with Master Yen Sid in person. Taking on even more jobs, Logan made savings and bought himself a trip to the Magical World with the intention of winning... For real, this time...

Deception

With the song over, Logan sniffed and somehow managed to hold back the tears. "I... I still don't know if I deserve to be called a good artist, a good magician... or a good person in general. Sometimes, I wish I could be like Gabriel and Drake: naturally strong, an unbreakable will, a flawless moral compass and no darkness whatsoever in the heart... But I'm just not made like this..."

SLAP!

Logan yelped in pain as Destiny gave him a big slap over the head with her fin. "Ouch! Hey! What d'you do that for?!"

To Logan's surprise, Destiny was glaring at him with tears in her eyes. "Never say anything like that again, you hear me? It's true that you've committed mistakes, but that doesn't mean you're a bad person. You're far from being perfect... and that's exactly why I love you so much."

Logan widened his eyes. "Destiny..."

"She's right, dude!" Sprig declared, hopping on the bed with a serious glare. "A bad person wouldn't have helped his friends to defeat Hex and save the Magical World by summoning a super-cool owl armor!"

"Nor would a bad person go out of his way to teach pro wrestling to young people," Jim added with a smile.

Ezra approached Logan and kneeled down at bed's level. "Logan, nobody starts perfect - nobody becomes perfect. But you get closer from falling over and over again. I learned it from a great master. Mistakes are not bad; they're good... if you let them be."

Destiny placed her giant fins on Logan's shoulders and made him look in her teary eyes as she smiled. "It's a promise, Logan. If you make another big mistake again, we won't leave you... We'll stay to guide you through your mistake, help you learn from it, and become better in the process..."

For a long moment, Logan didn't say anything and just stared at his girlfriend. Then, his lips started trembling, and he wrapped his arms around Destiny for a big hug as he burst into tears. The whale shark gently wrapped her fins around her boyfriend in comfort, crying a bit too. Before long, Sprig, Ezra and Jim joined in to form a big group hug. Logan no longer held back and released all his pain.

He was not alone anymore... Logan had finally found where he belonged...

Author's note: Man, what a chapter! I actually cried a little bit while writing it...

Before you start telling me that Logan should've gotten over his past after the conclusion of the Magical World trilogy, I'm gonna stop you right there. While it's true that heroes can generally come to terms with their past mistakes after progressing far enough, it's not always that simple. Sometimes, characters will have scars that can never fully heal and leave a mark on their mind forever. It makes sense in Logan's case; after meeting his former friends again, he is reminded of his past mistake and is afraid of losing everybody he formed bonds with in the Magical Kingdom. That's also why he wasn't able to activate his Owl Armor during his duel with Drake.

You must always remember that it's okay to make mistakes as long as you learn from them. It's not like you're one of these people who do stuff they know is wrong and still go on anyway. Real friends will be there to guide you through your mistakes if they care about you.
