Hey everyone, Wolf here. I'm going to be continuing this story, but I will not have a set update schedule, as I am busy with school. All rights go to Rick Riordan, except for any OCs. Also, here is a response to a review I got.
: I plan on continuing to update it, and no, I do not have any socials, although i do have a Discord Server, you should be able to join from my profile.
Anyway, on with the story!
Artemis POV
I slowly opened my eyes, blinded by the sunlight. I looked around the room I was in, and saw that it was my Master Bedroom in my Palace. My head was pounding, and I felt like shit. Moving to get out of bed, I felt something wrapped around me. Looking over my shoulder, I saw Percy, fast asleep, hugging me.
I gotta say, he's as cute as a baby seal when he sleeps, I thought to myself, then blushed at the thought.
I felt him start to move, and I panicked, worried what he would say. But, he just opened his eyes and smiled, "Morning Arty!" he said, beaming a smile.
"Ugh, not so loud, I have a massive headache. Also, why are you in my bed?" I asked him.
"The headache is most likely a hangover from all the alcohol you drank last night. As for why I'm here, you were more drunk than anyone I've ever seen, most likely due to you having never drank alcohol before. I carried you up here to put you to bed, as you couldn't even stand up straight. Right as I was about to leave, you grabbed my arm and pulled me into bed, snuggling up against me." he said, still smiling.
"Oh, sorry, I don't remember any of it, my last memory was downing the second shot." I apologized, confused as to why I didn't remember anything.
"Yeah, alcohol does that. And before you ask why you were so drunk, that was Olympian level Whiskey, it's stronger than any other Whiskey in existence. A single shot would kill a mortal, and incapacitate a demigod for a week, a son of Poseidon would be hungover for at least 4-5 days." he explained.
I was about to reply when I heard a rumble of thunder, "That would be Zeus, probably arguing with Poseidon again." I said, "Well, I need to change, so I'll see you later, Perce."
"Ok, see you later." he said, before vanishing into the shadows.
Percy POV
When I arrived in my palace, I quickly washed up, putting on some casual clothes. Or, at least, what I considered casual. I was wearing black jeans, a black belt with a silver buckle, and a black t-shirt with the design of a silver wolf on the front. I put on a black leather jacket over it, and slid on my black and silver boots. Finally, I fixed my hair, leaving it semi messy, but more presentable.
I then shadow traveled to my personal garage in Manhattan, checking on my car collection. I had a Bugatti Chiron, Ferrari FXX K Evo, a Lamborghini Aventador SVJ, a Porsche 918 Spyder, a 2022 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, and a 1970 Ford Mustang.
Once I had confirmed that they were all there, and that no one had broken in, I shadow traveled to the Throne Room. Once there, I summoned a pistol. Yes, a pistol. I am the god of Weapons, which includes firearms. I still prefer to use bows and melee weapons though. Oh yeah, when I became an Olympian, I was finally able to shoot straight. In fact, I have perfect aim, rivaling Apollo and Artemis' aim.
Anyway, I fired a bullet into the air, where it exploded, calling a meeting. It took a bit for everyone to arrive, but luckily, it didn't take as long as usual. Once everyone was there, Zeus motioned to me to explain why I had called the meeting.
"Fellow Olympians, I have called this meeting to discuss a few things. The first is the rise in monster attacks, and the fact that they have been more coordinated. Athena, do you have any theories?" I asked her, since she was the resident tactical genius.
"I have a main theory, but it isn't one that you're going to like." she said, looking sorrowfully at me, " My theory is that another war is approaching. Looking at the past, every time that the attacks have increased, there has been a war that has followed closely." she said.
"As bad as that is, that is logical. Does anyone have any theories as to who it could be?" I asked.
"Well, Kronos has faded, Gaia is in a deep slumber, and none of the other Titans or Giants would attack us again after the second Titan and Giant wars. So it would have to be either a Primordial, or someone from another Pantheon, but we are in good relations with all of the other Pantheons. Which means another primordial is rising. As far as we know, Ouranos is content to living his life peacefully in his realm. Eros is not one to start a war, he is mostly peaceful, only attacking other Primordials when provoked first. Chaos wouldn't attack us, she has vowed to stay out of conflicts unless the fate of the universe is at stake." Poseidon spoke intelligently, shocking us all.
"So, that would leave Chronus, Nyx, Erebus, Ananke, Thalassa and Pontus, Aether and Hemera, Ourea, and Tartarus. Chronus has said that he is content with protecting the flow of time, and same with Ananke and fate. Erebus and Nyx are possible, but they also seemed to be content last time they spoke with us. Thalassa and Pontus are peaceful, and they were supportive of Poseidon being the Lord of the Sea. Aether and Hemera are close with Apollo, so they wouldn't do anything to endanger him. That leaves Ourea and Tartarus. Ourea might be a bit mad with us for killing her sister, but I don't think she would attack unless Gaia had faded, which she didn't. Tartarus is the only Primordial that we don't really know. He keeps to himself, preferring to be in the company of monsters and other Primordials than us." Athena said after getting over the shock of Poseidon being intelligent.
"So, the possibilities are Erebus and Nyx, or Tartarus. Tartarus would be more likely, as he was the father of Gaia's children, the Giants. We need to increase defenses at both camps, and the Hunters will travel with a Guardian from now on, Artemis, I will leave it up to you to choose who that Guardian will be." Zeus rumbled.
Artemis was about to speak when we heard hissing, and green smoke started to flow from Apollo's mouth.
The Pit shall rise, to be met with gall
Triumph or fail, one must fall
Wolf and Moon unite
Lest no one see another night
Something shall be taken from the Wielder of Ice
For this they shall pay the ultimate price
Lord of Wolves unleashes the beast
Then all evil shall be ceased
After the prophecy was spoken, Apollo fell to the ground, unconscious. But, I was oblivious to this, as I was analyzing the prophecy that was just issued. The pit shall rise…
The walls started to close in, and my chest got tight. I couldn't breath, I couldn't see straight. I was just repeating one thing, "The pit, the pit, the pit, the pit."
I was having a panic attack. I tried focusing on something, like I usually do, but it didn't work. This attack was too bad. So, I called out the only name I could think of, "Artemis." I said weakly, worried she wouldn't hear me.
I heard a voice talking to me, and I latched onto it with my life. I felt the attack slowly fading, until I could finally hear the voice clearly, "Percy, can you hear me?" Artemis asked worriedly.
"I can hear you, I'm alright. I haven't had an attack that bad since almost a hundred years ago." I said. I had been having panic attacks since I got out of Tartarus, and for a while, Annabeth could counteract them. Then the betrayal happened, and I was left alone. After about 50 years, Artemis was able to pull me out of them, which is part of why we grew so close.
"200 years, and they're still happening. Unfortunately, I don't think that they'll go away until you get closure, " Apollo said, "Ok, we have a Prophecy to decipher, Percy, are you alright? No chances of the attack coming back?"
"Yeah, I'm alright, let's figure out this prophecy." I said, sitting back on my throne. As soon as I did so, I felt some of my strength return, like always. You see, since an Olympian's strength is directly connected to their throne, if they are sick, or in my case, have a panic or Anxiety attack, sitting on their throne helps return some of their strength.
I think I have a few lines figured out," Athena said, "Obviously, 'The Pit' refers to Tartarus, and 'to be met with gall' means that he will face a struggle, most likely from us. I believe the 'Wolf and Moon unite' refers to Percy and Artemis, as Percy's sacred animal is the Wolf, and Artemis is the goddess of the Moon. 'Lest no one see another night' means that if they do not unite, then we stand no chance against Tartarus."
"I believe I can decipher the rest," I said, "I think 'Something shall be taken from the Wielder of Ice' refers to me, as I sometimes fight with ice weapons. 'For this they shall pay the ultimate price' most likely means that whoever took something from me will die, probably by my hands. 'Lord of Wolves unleashes the beast', well, I am the Lord of Wolves, but I'm not sure what the beast is, it might be a monster, as I am the god of Monsters. And 'Then all evil shall be ceased' means that once the other lines are fulfilled, then there will be no more evil, hopefully forever."
"That does make sense," Zeus said, "Alright, we have the prophecy deciphered. Considering the third line of the prophecy, Percy should travel with the Hunt as their Guardian."
"I accept this, I know he would not do anything to hurt the Hunters, and he would not flirt with them, unlike someone else on this council." Artemis said, shooting a pointed glare at Apollo, who shrunk under her gaze.
"Alright, I shall gather everything that I will need, and meet you at the Hunters' camp." I said.
"Alright, if no one else has anything to address, then this meeting is adjourned." Zeus spoke, before he and Hera disappeared in a flash of lightning.
I shadow traveled to my palace, and gathered my things. I strapped my katanas, Tempest and Inferno. They looked like polar opposites. Tempest was forged with Atlantean steel, giving it a blue-green look, while Inferno was forged with a special metal that few people know the name of, it is known as Volcanic Titanium. It is extremely durable, and is twice as strong if forged inside of an erupting volcano. They both have the power to conduct their respective elements, Water for Tempest and Fire for Inferno, and can even unleash powerful blasts of said elements.
Next, I grabbed my trident, Dusk, and converted it to its ring form. The Trident was a masterpiece, having been forged primarily out of Stygian Iron, with Olympian Silver designs. This combination of metals gives it the ability to kill underworld spirits and werewolves, which cannot be killed with ordinary weapons. To activate the weapon, all I have to do is twist the ring, and Dusk will appear in my hands.
After that, I grabbed my bow, Midnight. It was handcrafted by myself, made with extremely durable wood, from the Grove of Dodona, as a gift from Rhea, as it is her sacred grove. The bow has the ability to predict where a target is going to move, and it can adjust itself so it never misses. It generates arrows made of Olympian Silver, and can also generate explosive tips and poison tips. I converted it into necklace form, and hooked it around my neck. If I pull on the wolf pendant on the necklace, the bow will appear in my hand.
Finally, I grabbed Riptide off of my nightstand. I left it in pen form, and stuck it in my pocket. Once I had collected all of my weapons, I moved on to my armor.
My armor is primarily made of Atlantean Steel, and is lightweight, enchanted by Poseidon and myself to be unbreakable. It is extremely flexible, it doesn't restrict my movement at all. It has Celestial bronze designs, a Wolf on the chestplate, the face of the Minotaur on one shoulder and the face of the Hydra on the other. The helmet is shaped like the head of a Hellhound, with a snarl depicted on the faceplate. My Roman counterpart's armor is the same, except it has Imperial Gold designs instead of celestial bronze.
The vambraces have hidden blades made of Olympian Silver, which I can instantly extend and retract at any time. The legs of the armor look ordinary, but anyone or anything that touches them will experience their worst nightmares, and will be frozen in fear. But, I can control this, so when I am sparring I don't accidentally use it on a friend.
The boots and gauntlets have thrusters in them, allowing me to jump further and fly faster.I can also use them to burn opponents who are within close range. And finally, the cloak. My favorite part of my armor. It is black, like the rest of the armor, enchanted by myself to be completely unbreakable. It has rugged holes and tears near the bottom, but that was intentional. I can use it to levitate and fly if I don't have room for my wings, and I have to be silent, or if I want to look cool.
Once I had put on all of my armor, I tested it, making sure it could convert into a leather jacket. To activate it, I just double tap the pocket on the right side of my chest, and the armor and cloak spread over my body, like Tony Stark's Iron Man suit in Avengers: Infinity War.
I converted it to jacket form, shadow traveling to the top of the Empire State Building. I then reached out with my senses, and found the Hunters' camp about a hundred miles due west. I spread my arms, and backflipped off of the building. I fell for about 15 seconds, until I was about to hit the ground. I extended my wings and redirected myself up right before I would have gone splat.
Flapping quickly, I was soon going Mach 1, and still accelerating. I hit Mach 2 when I reached the halfway mark, and I just extended my wings, gliding the rest of the way there. Little did I know, I had just caused the news to go crazy about a "Secret Military Jet Test Flight".
When I was 5 miles away, I angled my wings to slow down. I silently landed in a tree above the Hunters' camp, and listened in to the conversation.
"-Girls, I have news. A new prophecy has been issued-" Artemis was cut off by the hunters simultaneously groaning, "As I was saying, a new prophecy has been issued, and Tartarus is rising. Due to this, and the rest of the prophecy, the Hunt will now be traveling with a guardian. A male one." Artemis explained.
"Seriously? A male guardian? No male could ever match our skills!" I heard a voice say, and I recognised it as Phoebe, one of the biggest man haters in all of existence.
Well, time to prove them wrong, I thought to myself. I silently dropped out of the tree, landing behind them. I activated my armor, and drew my katanas, holding them in an X in front of me. I also extended my wings to their full wingspan. Then, I just stood there, waiting for them to notice me.
"Umm, girls? Look behind you." Artemis said, and I could tell she was holding in her laughter.
The hunters turned around, and, upon seeing me, drew their bows and started firing. I simply sliced all the arrows out of the air, every single one. Eventually, they ran out, and I was left unscathed. Then, I retaliated. With a single flick of my wrist, their bows flew out of their hands and landed safely in a pile, all undamaged.
The hunters just stood there, shocked. Shocked at the fact that a male had easily overpowered all of them. Then, they noticed who I was. I heard an "Oh shit" and a couple "Fuck"s.
"I see you have noticed who I am. Then, you must know that I am the god of Loyalty, and therefore, cannot do anything that would break someone's trust. As a good friend of Lady Artemis', I swear on the river Styx, my honor, my name, and my very existence that I will not flirt with or romantically or sexually approach any of you." I said, hearing a gasp from Artemis.
"Íroas, do not go making oaths on your name like that, you realize that if you break said oath, whether it was intentional or not, you will not die. You will not fade. You will simply cease to exist." Artemis scolded me, and I hung my head. I may be stronger than her, but I would hate to be on her bad side.
"I know, I know, we've been through this how many times now? Like 10? And I'm still here, aren't I?" I said, and the hunters looked shocked. Most likely at the fact that I've been an Olympian for 200 years, and I've made 10 oaths on my name, which is an average of a oath every 20 years, which is like a second for immortal beings.
"Well, as some of you may have guessed, Íroas is our newly assigned guardian, so I expect you to respect him. If something were to happen to him, and it turned out to be your fault in any way, you would face the wrath of the entire Olympian Council." Artemis said, looking pointedly at a few of the hunters, the well known man haters, "Now, Íroas, I presume you have everything you will need?" she asked.
"Yes I do, and I don't need a tent, I'll probably sleep in a tree or something." I said.
"Alright. Hunters, back to your chores. Also, Íroas will be training you in close combat. Yes, all of you. Now go. Your training will start tomorrow." Artemis said, dismissing them.
The hunters dispersed, going off to do whatever they needed to do. I on the other hand, had some things I needed to do, "Artemis, I'm gonna do a perimeter check. I'll be back in about 30 minutes. Have the hunters gathered at that time, I have some gifts for them." I said, before launching off the ground.
I flew around the camp, making sure there were no threats in the area. Then, I surveyed the land, taking note of areas with tactical advantages and disadvantages. I also took note of weak points in their perimeter, making a mental note to do something about that.
I got back to camp when I predicted I would, and I saw the hunters gathered in the main clearing. I softly landed on the ground, and walked over to where they were gathered.
"As Artemis may have told you, I had her gather you each here because I have some gifts for you. Take out your bows." I ordered, waiting for them to do so. I waved my hand, "Your bows will now summon arrows with tips made of Olympian Silver. They are also unbreakable, so you will never have to worry about repairing them." I said, and I saw some of them nod at me, though most of them just glared.
"Next, I am going to give you all my blessing. This will allow you to know what time it is at all times, heal with water and fire, be able to breath underwater, make you fireproof and resistant to any temperature. You will also be able to have a good understanding of any weapon you pick up, this does not mean you will be good with said weapon, but you will understand how it works, and its strengths and weaknesses." I explained, and they all looked shocked. I mean, I guess I've never given anyone my blessing, but I know what it does, all deities know what their blessings do when they first receive their domains.
"Lastly, I have a special gift for each of you." I said, and I let out my best taxi cab whistle. They all looked confused, until they saw what I was calling. Wolves. Beautiful, majestic wolves, each personalized to one of the hunters. Some had all black fur, some white, some mixed, some… pink? That's a new one. And they were no ordinary wolves. They were a special breed of wolf that I had created, their senses were 10 times stronger than that of a normal wolf, they were 2 times faster, and could communicate with humans via telepathy. They never got sick, and they could live for hundreds of years.
The hunters were happy, some were running their hands through their wolf's fur, some of the younger hunters were playing with their wolves. Over time, they all looked up at me and nodded, some even smiling. I then looked over at Artemis, and she was watching the hunters with a smile on her face.
About 20 years ago, the Hunt had gotten into a nasty battle. Sadly, all of their wolves had perished that day, and I could feel each one, and it hurt. I feel when a wolf is hurt, when they are happy, when they die, I feel it all. And they feel my emotions too. When I'm angry, they're angry. When I'm happy, they're happy. That's why I have to keep my emotions in check at all times, otherwise wolves can get aggressive all over the world.
I then whistled again. But this whistle was different. It was lower than the other one, and it was stronger too. The hunters looked confused, and they started looking around, expecting another herd of wolves to appear. But what they saw wasn't what they expected.
Out of the forest emerged the most beautiful wolf any of them had ever seen. He had midnight black fur, with silver streaks in it. His fur blew in the wind like silk, no tangles in it. He stalked over to me, and they expected him to bow to me or something, but that's not what he did. He rolled over. He rolled over onto his back and started laughing, his tongue hanging out of his mouth. I reached down and started scratching his belly, causing him to start howling.
"Everyone, meet Shadow. He is the Alpha Prime, meaning he is at the very top of the wolf hierarchy. He is my companion, and my first creation as the Lord of Wolves. His fur, while it may feel and look like the softest of silk, is actually metallic, and it can redirect bullets, arrows, throw hairbrushes, don't ask me how I know the third one. He can speak English, but he prefers to communicate via telepathy. His senses are 100 times that of the average wolf, he can track something that is thousands of miles away from him. He can run up to Mach 1, and can jump up to 1000 feet in the air. His bite can break through an extremely rare metal called Chaotic Silver, I had to search long and wide to find some. That is also what his claws are made out of, they can slice through anything. He also has infinite stamina, and he never has to sleep." I said.
"But he is extremely kind and gentle with anyone that means no harm to him and those he is protecting. And he LOVES belly rubs. If he walks up to you and rolls over, just rub his belly, you don't want to know what happens when you don't." I finished explaining.
"Ok girls, it's time for dinner. Hestia was kind enough to send us some food, since we didn't have time to cook today." Artemis said, motioning for the hunters to make their way to the clearing with a table set up.
"Shadow, I need you to guard the camp for tonight, we'll alternate guard duty nightly. And Yes, I will give you belly rubs after, just don't wake the hunters up for them, ok?" I said.
'Fine, I won't wake them up. But I will hold you to it, I expect those belly rubs in the morning!' I heard him say in my head.
"Don't worry, you'll get them. Now go, I need to eat." I said, and watched him run off.
I made my way over to the table and sat down at one end, preparing for the inevitable barrage of questions I was going to get.
I hope everyone enjoyed the chapter, and leave your thoughts, comments, and ideas in the reviews. Like I said, i will be reworking Universal Traveler, so keep your eyes open for that. Thank you for reading, Wolf out.
