Welcome To Beacon.

It was night time in the Kingdom of Vale. From Dust Till Dawn one of the local Dust shops, were still open and a familiar looking girl was on her way to it. It was Bernadetta, and she had arrived at the shop to buy some dust before she goes to Beacon the next day. She didn't like walking around outside alone during the night, and only reason she was even here was because Alois had forgotten to buy the dust and he was asleep the last time she saw him. Not wanting to wake him up, Bernadetta decided to just get the dust herself... and she was greatly regretting it.

"Oh, I better get this over with quickly" She said to herself as she entered the store, earning the attention of the shopkeeper "Don't mind me! I am just here to look around and buy some Dust".

The shopkeeper just gave her a nod and Bernadetta began looking around for some good dust she could use. She sighed to herself, not really used to doing the shopping herself. She looked around for a bit until she suddenly pumped in to someone. It was a fair-skinned young girl with silver eyes, similar to Bernadetta's own eyes, and neck-length black hair with red tips.

"Oh sorry about-" The girl began but was interrupted when Bernadetta began freaking out.

"Ah! Sorry! I didn't mean to run in to you like that! I am just here for some dust, but I can leave if I am bothering you!" She said, sounding ready to panik.

"Wait! No no no! I am not mad, it was just an accident!" The Girl said quickly.

"Y-you're not?" Bernadetta asked, slowly calming down.

"No, not at all. A small accident is nothing to get mad over" The Girl said, sounding relieved.

"O-Ok... well I still need to buy dust, so sorry for bumping in to you" Bernadetta said as she went back to looking for Dust. She wasn't good at talking with strangers.

Little did she know, the girl wasn't very good at talking to people either, so she just let Bernadetta get back to her shopping as she continued with her own. But then suddenly a group of men entered the shop. Most of them were dressed in black, while the lead one wore a red-lined white suit with long black pants and black shoes. His accessories included a small gray scarf, black gloves with buckled sleeves, and a black bowler hat with a small feather tucked into its red band. He was also holding some kind of cane.

The henchmen look around and at the Dust crystals in the display when the leader approaches the elderly shopkeeper flicking his cigar "Do you have any idea how hard it is to find a Dust shop open this late?".

One of the henchman points his gun at the shopkeeper who quickly raised his hands "P-please! Just take my Lien and leave!".

"Shhh, shhh, shhh, shhh, calm down, we're not here for your money" The Lead man said before looking at his henchmen "Grab the Dust".

A henchman opens a case and removes one of several cylinders, which the group uses to take Dust from the tube containers on the walls. Bernadetta heard the commotion and her danger sense was blarring. She jumped when she a red katana was pointed at her by one of the Henchmen.

"Hands in the air, now!" He ordered.

"AAHHHH!" Bernadetta screamed in panic before she moved like a blur and knocked the sword out of the Henchman's hand.

"My sword! How did you do that?" He demanded.

The girl from before suddenly showed up "Hey, what is going on?!".

"He was trying to rob me!" Bernadetta said, still sounding scared.

The girl looked at the henchman "Ooohhh...".

The Leader is waiting for his men to finish the heist when a sound was heard, and the threatening henchman flies past him. The Leader calmly motions for another to handle The Girl.

The Henchman raised his gun at her "Freeze!".

Seconds later the henchman and the girl crash through the window. The other men look outside as the girl gets up and unfolds her weapon into its scythe form. The Leader scowls, but The Girl smiles back at them before twirling the weapon around, striking it into the ground and turning off her headphones. Despite her better instincts, Bernadetta walked up to the broken window, a Henchman noticed her and quickly grabbed her, before pulling her out and put his katana to her neck.

The girl got wide eyes "Hey! Let her go!".

The leader only smiled "Don't try anything heroic now. Would be a shame if her short life ended because of you, wouldn't it?".

The girl didn't know what to do. But lucky for her, if Bernadetta gets to scared, she always enter a fight or flight mode. And since she was being held, there was only one option. She screamed and suddenly flipped the Henchman through the air, making him land on his back, showing that she was surprisingly strong for her size. Bernadetta jumped back before pulling out her weapon, which was a bow.

"Go away!" She yelled as she pulled the strong back, and suddenly some ice dust took the shape of an arrow, which she fired in to the Henchman she knocked down earlier, freezing him to the ground.

"Wow..." The girl said as she eyed Bernadetta's bow.

The Leader sighed "Okayyy... Get them!".

The henchmen runs at the two girls, The Scythe girl spins around on top of her scythe and kicks the first approaching criminal in the face. She gets her weapon out of the ground and fires it off to hit another one with the butt of her weapon, sending him flying. She fires again and brings the side down on one attacker. One of them tried to shoot her, but his weapon was hit by another ice arrow from Bernadetta, allowing the girl to get close enough to knock him into the air and follow him upwards so she can beat him away to The Leader's feet.

"You were worth every cent. Truly, you were" He said in annoyance before dropping his cigar and crushing it with his cane as approaching police sirens are heard "Well, Red and purple, I think we can all say it's been an eventful evening, and as much as I'd love to stick around..." He raises his cane and opens the bottom to reveal a rifle with a cross grid "I'm afraid this is where we part ways".

He unleashes a red blast at The girl, who fires at the ground and leaps over it. When she lands and looks up, the lead man isn't there, and is climbing up a ladder on a nearby building.

She looks at the onlooking shopkeeper "You okay if we go after him?".

The shopkeeper gives a short nod as Bernadetta looked at the girl "We?".

"Ruby Rose won't let an evil man run free! Come on!" The girl who's name was finally revealed to be Ruby, said as she takes of.

"Why am I agreeing to this!?" Bernadetta asked out loud as she followed Ruby.

The Man makes it to the roof, with Ruby high-flying again and landing right behind him "Hey!".

He stops at the edge "Persistent..." Ruby readies to fight him, but a getaway Bullhead rises up and opens the hatch to allow the man inside before he turns around and holding up a red Dust gem "End of the line, Red".

He throws it out at her feet and fires at her, resulting in a large explosion, just as Bernadetta makes it to the roof "No! Huh?".

"Whoa-ho-ho-ho!" The Man stops laughing when he sees something on the roof "Huh?".

A woman in a purple cape is now in front of Ruby, casting a circle of protection over them with her wand. As Ruby looks on, a fully trained huntress named Glynda Goodwitch waves her weapon and summons several streaks of purple at the craft. The Man is thrown around in the back until he goes to the cockpit, where a woman in red is struggling with the controls.

"We got a Huntress!" He aid and The woman gets up and heads toward the back as Roman takes the controls. Glynda glows purple for a moment and aims another blast above the craft, resulting in a dark storm-cloud right over the jet "The hell...?".

With a flick of her wand, large jagged hail starts falling that pummels the jet and even breaks through the window, narrowly missing The Man's head.

The woman reaches the back and her arms and chest light up like fire, aiming a burst of energy at Glynda. The Huntress blocks it, but the flame splatters behind her and glows hot with the enemy's raised hand. Glynda back-flips out of the explosion, which destroys part of the roof, and magically gathers the shards to create a large arrow, which she throws at the craft. The fiery woman shatters the arrow with several blasts, but it reforms just in time to hit the side of the jet due to The Man's quick aerial lean. The wreckage separates and reshapes into more arrows that encircle the jet, but the woman summons several glowing rings around herself that expand and destroy the shards.

Ruby, finally acting, reverts her scythe into its rifle form to fire at the woman, who blocks each shot with her hand. Bernadetta also reacted and readied another ice arrow, this one was stronger than the earlier ones, and she fired it... but suddenly, another man showed up. He was barely visable due to wearing a dark armor and his head was hidden by the darkness. He caught the ice arrow in his hand before snapping it in two. His eyes then glowed red before he held up his hand and some dark aura could be seen before he unleashed a blast, which forced Ruby and Glynda away, allowing the criminals to escape.

Ruby looks at Glynda "You're a Huntress!" She puts on a pleading, awe-stricken face "Can I have your autograph?!".

With the danger over, Bernadetta finally allowed herself to faint.

"AAHHH! No don't die on us now!" Ruby yelled in panic and Glynda just sighed.

A while later Bernadetta was picked up from the police station by a worried Alois. Luckily the headmaster of Beacon, Ozpin, was able to bale her out, along with Ruby. Bernadetta would need all the sleep she could get for her first day at Beacon.

Soon the day had arrived, and a airship was now on it's way to Beacon with it's next generation of students. Among them was Lucina. This was it, she was finally going to start her true training to become a huntress. She was both excited and nervous, as to be expected. But then she noticed a girl with red hair. And she looked familiar.

"Excuse me" Lucina said as she walked up to the girl.

The girl was Severa, and she looked at her "Do I know you?".

"No, but I know about your mother. You are Cordelia's daughter, right?" Lucina asked.

"Of course you would notice that. Are you a fan girl who wants details on how great my mother is?" Severa asked, sounding annoyed.

"N-no, I wanted to get to know you" Lucina said.

"That so? Well I don't have time to waste on small fry. So if you want to be my "Friend", you better prove yourself once the initiation begins. I will surpass my mother, and I will not allow anyone to hold me back" Severa said before walking away, leaving Lucina to sigh to herself.

The girl's attention is drawn to the newscast on Vale News Network playing nearby, talking about the robbery and showing a mug shot of the criminal Ruby and Bernadetta faced last night "The robbery was led by nefarious criminal Roman Torchwick, who continues to evade authorities. If you have any information on his whereabouts, please contact the Vale Police Department. Back to you, Lisa".

The woman named Lisa Lavender showed up, with a photo of animal-eared demonstrators holding signs saying "WE ARE NOT ANIMALS!" followed by an image of the logo of a growling red wolf's head with three scratch marks.

"Thank you, Cyril. In other news, this Saturday's Faunus Civil Rights protest turned dark when members of the White Fang disrupted the ceremony. The once peaceful organization has now disrupted..." The news feed is cut off as a hologram of Glynda replaces it.

"Hello, and welcome to Beacon!" She said.

"Who's that?" A girl with long blonde hair asked.

"My name is Glynda Goodwitch" Glynda said.

"Oh" The girl said.

"You are among a privileged few who have received the honor of being selected to attend this prestigious academy! Our world is experiencing an incredible time of peace, and as future Huntsmen and Huntresses, it is your duty to uphold it. You have demonstrated the courage needed for such a task, and now it is our turn to provide you with the knowledge and the training to protect our world" Glynda said before she vanished.

"Protect the world..." Lucina mumbled to herself before she hears a boy groaning and hunched over nearby, running to the back of the ship, clearly about to throw up "Poor guy... must be having motion sickness".

"Oh, Yang, gross! You have puke on your shoe!" Ruby suddenly yelled.

The blonde girl named Yang began shaking her shoe "Gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross!".

"Get-Get away! Get away from me! Get away from me! Get away from me! Get away from me!" Ruby yelled as she tried to get away.

Lucina couldn't help but to chuckle a little. Those two didn't have the best start. Soon enough the ariship finally landed, the boy from before emerges and goes over to the nearest trash can, hunching over it as he loses his lunch.

Lucina walks out and smiles at the great Beacon Academy "I am finally here..." She continued on "Alright, no need to stand out. I just need to figure out where to go and wait there".

As Lucina moved on, the cat Faunus Lyre was enjoying the view "Nothing can ruin this".

She suddenly jumped when she heard an explosion. She looked and saw Ruby and a girl with white hair. Said girl was glaring at Ruby so hard her eyes looked like daggers.

"Unbelievable! This is exactly the kind of thing I was talking about!" The girl yelled in anger

Ruby was pushing her fingers together clearly embarrassed "I'm really, really sorry!".

"Ugh, you complete dolt! What are you even doing here? Aren't you a little young to be attending Beacon?" The Girl demanded.

"Well, I-I..." Ruby began weakly.

"This isn't your ordinary combat school. It's not just sparring and practice, you know! We're here to fight monsters, so... watch where you're going!" The girl said.

"Is something wrong?" Lyre suddenly asked, making the girls jump in surprise.

"Where did you come from? Never mind. This dolt almost blew us up!" The White haired girl said.

"It was an accident!" Ruby yelled.

"Well no one seems to be hurt. So no harm done, right?" Lyre said.

"That is not the point! She-" The White hair began before she noticed something "Wait... you are a faunus?".

Lyre had heard that tone before and got a sad face "Yes... I am... sorry if my presence offends you... I will just leave".

The girl looked at Lyre's face as she turned to leave, and suddenly her cold nature broke. For a reason she didn't even understand herself, seeing Lyre's sad face was painful "Wait! Wait. You didn't do anything wrong, and you have not offended me".

Lyre smiled a little "Thank you".

The girl sighed in relief before turning back to Ruby "Unlike you!".

Ruby was finally fed up "Hey, I said I was sorry, princess!".

"It's heiress, actually" The three look over as a girl with long black hair approaches with a bottle of dust "Weiss Schnee, heiress to the Schnee Dust Company, one of the largest producers of energy propellant in the world".

The girl named Weiss: smiled smugly "Finally! Some recognition!".

"The same company infamous for its controversial labor forces and questionable business partners" The girl added. Weiss got angry again as Ruby chuckles.

"Wha- How dare- The nerve of... Ugh!" She gets up in the girl's face and takes the bottle from her, walking off in a huff as her helpers gather the luggage and follow.

Ruby was still sorry "I promise I'll make this up to you!" She sighs "I guess I'm not the only one having a rough first day... So, what's..."

She sees the other two girls walking off as well, with Lyre calling back "Sorry! I need to find a bathroom before I jump in to a bush!".

Ruby collapses to the ground on her back "Welcome to Beacon...".

She remains this way until a couple shadows comes over her. One of them was the boy who threw up, and the other was Lucina. She had witnessed what happened but Lyre had stepped in before she could

"Hey... I'm Jaune" The boy said as he offers a hand.

Lucina offers a hand as well "And I am Lucina".

Ruby taks both their hands allowing them to pull her up "Ruby. Aren't you the guy that threw up on the ship?".

Jaune groans as he looks down, and Lucina let out a light chuckle.

"All I'm saying is that motion sickness is a much more common problem than people let on!" Jaune said as they were walking around.

Ruby laughs a little "Look, I'm sorry! Vomit Boy was the first thing that came to mind".

"Oh, yeah? What if I called you Crater Face?" Jaune asked and Lucina couldn't hold back a laugh.

"Crater Face? Good one" Lucina said as she offered Jaune a fist bump, which he happily accepted. His joke reminded her a little of her aunt, Lissa, she was really good with jokes.

"Hey, that explosion was an accident!" Ruby said with a pout.

"Well, the name's Jaune Arc! Short, sweet, rolls off the tongue - ladies love it!" Jaune said

"Do they?" Ruby and Lucina asked at the same time.

"They will! Well, I-I hope they will. My mom always says that... Never mind" Jaune said.

Lucina had to make a joke she knew her aunt would approve of "Hmm, yes I can see girls forming a long line just for the chance to see you".

"You think so?" Jaune asked with some hope, which quickly faded when he noticed Lucina smirking at him "Very funny".

Ruby giggles before a short, awkward silence falls "So... I got this thing!"

She pulls out her weapon and stabs it into the ground, much to Jaune's surprise "Whoa! Is that a scythe?".

"It's also a customizable high-impact sniper rifle!" Ruby explained.

"A-wha...?" Jaune asked.

Ruby cocks it, smiling "It's also a gun".

"Oh. That's cool!" Jaune said

"So what've you got?" Ruby asked.

"Oh! I, uh..." He unsheathes a blade "I got this sword!".

"Ooooohh!" The two girls said.

"Yeah, and I've got a shield, too!" Jaune gets his scabbard, raises his arm and expands the metal into his defense.

Ruby touched the shield "So, what do they do?".

Jaune fumbles with the shield as it retracts off his arm, expands, and retracts again before putting it back in place and finally shrinking it down for good, placing it on his belt "The shield gets smaller, so when I get tired of carrying it, I can just... put it away...".

"But... wouldn't it weigh the same?" Ruby asked.

Jaune looked down dejectedly "Yeah, it does...".

Ruby giggled "Well, I'm kind of a dork when it comes to weapons, sooo... I guess I did go a little overboard when designing it".

"Wait - you made that?!" Jaune asked in shock.

"Of course! All students at Signal forge their own weapons! Didn't you make yours?" Ruby asked.

"It's a hand-me-down. My great-great-grandfather used it to fight in the war" Jaune said.

"You too huh" Lucina said, making the two look at her "Oh, right. I never showed you my weapon".

She puls out her sword and both Jaune and Ruby looked at it with starry eyes, with Ruby speaking "Wow, it's beautiful!".

"It's called Falchion. Just like you Jaune, it has been passed down through my blood line for several generations. It was first weilded by my distant relative, Marth" Lucina explained.

"Wait... Marth? As in the great hero Marth?! Who was said to be a major reason for ending the great war!?" Ruby asked in shock "My sister read me stories about him. You are related to him?!".

"Yeah, I am his desendant" Lucina said with a small blush "My father used Falchion before me, but he was hurt on a mission and can't fight like he used to. So he entrusted it with me".

Jaune sheaths his sword "Sounds like you got quite the torch to carry".

Lucina puts Falchion away "You have no idea. I came here so I would learn to be ready for it".

They began moving again as Ruby spoke "So why'd you two help me out back there? In the courtyard?".

"Eh, why not? My mom always says, 'Strangers are just friends you haven't met yet" Jaune answered.

"As for me, it was just in my nature. When I see someone in need I have to help them. Guess I got it from my father" Lucina said.

"Hmm" Ruby looks around "Hey, where are we going?".

"Oh, I don't know! I was following you two" Jaune said as he looks around "Y-You think there might be a directory? Maybe a food court? Some kind of recognizable landmark? Is, uh... Is that a 'no'?"

Ruby laughed "That's a 'no'".

Lucina smiled. These two were good people. Looks like she made some friends.
