Getting To Know Each Other.

It was a peaceful day a Beacon. Students walking around, doing their own things. Outside Beacon however, things were a little more hectic as Severa and Yang were going at it. Ever since they first met, the two had developed a friendly rivalry, and whenever they had the chance, they would have a friendly battle to see how strong they had become. It was a good arrangement as both of them needed a good rival that could help them push further and become stronger. They didn't use weapons, just hand to hand combat.

Both let out a battle cry as their fists connected to each other's face, sending both back. A small alarm was heard, signalling that their aura had depleted, and neither of them could keep fighting now. Both took a moment to catch their breaths. They always did enjoy their work outs together, but it always left them completely drained. And while their teammates weren't to happy that they kept coming back dirty and sweaty, for Severa and Yang, it just meant their clashes worked. If you don't work up a sweat, you aren't doing it right.

"Man..." Severa said, wiping some sweat of her face.

"Yeah, another draw. Looks like we are still equals" Yang said.

"I say I am the better fighter here. But you are such a damage sponge. It's almost impossible to put you down before I tire out. You on the other hand, you are so damn strong, you deal as much damage with one hit, as I do with two" Severa said.

Yang smiled "You can thank my semblance for that. When I take a punch, I can give it back twice as hard".

"And my semblance allows me to copy someone else's semblance. But it only lasts for one move. Once I used their power once, it's gone. So I wouldn't be able to build it up, like you can" Severa said.

"So we both have advantages and disadvantages. Just goes to show our rivalry is very useful for both of us" Yang said.

"Yeah, I do too. Well let's take a break before we head back" Severa said.

Yang nods in agreement and they sit under a tree, resting and drinking some water. Not only were they rivals, but also good friends. Their teams weren't that surprised, given how much they have in common. Mainly that both are physically the strongest members of their teams, both are hot heads, and both love a good fight. A perfect match, and a straight line to friendship.

They sat in silence before Yang spoke "Say, Severa? Can I ask you something?".

"Sure" Severa said.

"You are the daughter of Cordelia, right?" Yang asked.

"Yes..." Severa said, almost sounding annoyed.

"Relax I am not interested in that. It's just that everyone knows who your mom is. But, who is your father?" Yang asked.

Severa was silent for several seconds, and Yang worried she touched a sensitive subject, but Severa sighed "Your guess is as good as mine".

Yang blinked "Wait what?".

"I don't know who my father is. My mother raised me alone" Severa said before she sighs "Well, raised me the best she could anyway. Being such a popular huntress made her really busy".

"Oh... didn't she ever tell you who your father is?" Yang asked.

"I asked many times, but she always brushed me of. Not sure if my father was either a shitty person, or things just didn't work out between them. Still I wanted her to tell me something, and she finally gave in, but only told me my eyes were similar to his" Severa said.

"Not much to go on" Yang admitted.

"Nope" Severa agreed.

Yang was silent for a moment before she asked "So... are you planing on finding him?".

Severa looked down for a moment "I don't know... I tried in the past but I almost got killed because of it. After that I focused on growing stronger".

Yang hesitated a little "What happened?".

Severa was silent as she could still remember that day all to well.

Flash Back.

Five years ago, when Severa was only 12 years old, she still hadn't met her father yet. And since her mother always brushed her of every time she asked, she decided to go looking for her father herself. A very stupid move given she didn't even have any leads on him, she just grabbed a spear and walked out in to the dangerous forest, like she would just bump in to him. She walked for a long time, and grew more tired with each step.

In her tired state she didn't watch where she was going and ended up sliding down a steep hill. She slid until she landed in dirty pond near a massive thorn bush. Covered in dirt and bruises, Severa regretted her stupid decision. What did she expect? Going out here alone. She sighed at her stupidity. Now what was she going to do? She was so tired she drifted of to sleep... however, heavy footsteps as a shadow slowly moved over the spot Severa was resting in.

Severa was woken up when the ground began to shake from the heavy footsteps. She then gasped as a massive Grimm was stalking towards her. She quickly forced herself to stand back up as the grimm was getting closer. Severa ran in to the thorn bush which luckily had large enough gaps for her to get through, but still gained a few cuts. She tried to hide as the large grimm was moving around outside, and Severa could see it's large red eye between the thorns. It growls as it began forcing it's way through the thorns, sniffing around for whatever was trying to hide.

Severa got scared as the grimm was practically on top of her. Bad move as her fear only confirmed she was there. The grimm could sense it. Severa quickly tried to move away, but the grimm tore through thorns as it began to actively hunt her. Severa was almost caught in it's jaws several times. She got out of the bushes before tripping and falling on to the ground. She turned her head and saw the grimm that had been hunting her: A Black Beast.

The Black Beast stood on it's hind legs and roared. Severa ran away as the Beast's jaws bit the ground. It spat out the dirt before chasing after her. Severa kept running and moved through tight spaces to make it hard for the Beast to catch her. But it was getting closer and closer by the second. Severa ran in to a dead end, and turned around as the beast was catching up to her. She took out the spear she brought with her and just as the Beast got close to her, she jabbed the spear in to it's eye. The Black Beast roars in pain as it backs up, scratching at it's eye.

This gave Severa the chance to run away again. But now the Black Beast was enraged at the girl who dared to harm it, and leaps through the air, landing right behind her. The shock wave from the landing sent Severa flying in to a boulder. She was badly hurt and looked to see the Black Beast getting closer to her. But just as it open it's jaws to eat her, something hits it in the side of the face. All Severa saw was that someone was attacking the large grimm, but she didn't see anything else before blacking out.

End of Flash Back.

Severa sighed "When I woke up I was in a hospital. And I had no memories of what happened after I blacked out. Mom gave me a nice long scolding for my stupidity. It was almost nice ina way. Being scolded by her is still better than barely seeing her".

Yang was silent for a moment before she spoke "Wow... it's almost scary how much we have in common".

Severa blinked an looked at her "Huh?".

"I am in the same situation as you. Only I am looking for my mom, and I still wonder why she left... and just like you I did something stupid which almost got both me and Ruby killed. Had our uncle not saved us, my mistake would've gotten us killed" Yang explained.

"Oh... Well guess we really are alike" Severa said.

Yang smiled "No wonder why we became such good friends".

Severa smiled back "yeah, we are".

"So is it true you have a crush on Blake?" Yang asked teasingly.

"Oh don't you even start! Besides, I know you got a thing for Bernadetta!" Severa said.

"Maybe I do. So another thing we have in common then. We both have a crush on the other's partner" Yang said.

Severa blushed "Shut up!".

Yang only laughed. Yup, Severa sure is a good friend.

Meanwhile, Weiss was studying outside. Why? Because she needed to be alone for a bit and the calm nature helped her focus. Most would spend their free time just relaxing for a bit. But Weiss was not most people, so she kept on studying, even on her time of.

"Hi Weiss!" Came a voice which almost made Weiss jump out of her skin.

"Lyre! Don't do that!" Weiss said angrily while rubbing her chest to calm her heart.

Said Faunus giggled a little "Sorry, sorry. I couldn't resist. So what are you doing out here alone?".

"I was focusing on my studying. But your little jumpscare just ruined my focus and made me completely lose my trail of thought" Weiss said in annoyance.

"Oh... well if you lost your focus, then I say this is the time for you to take a break. No point trying to start over now, given how tired you must be. Why don't we hang out for a bit?" Lyre suggested.

"A very kind offer, Lyre. But I need to get back to my studies" Weiss said, but Lyre snatched away her book "Hey! Give that back!".

"Sorry Weiss. No can do" Lyre said with a smile.

Weiss growls "Give. Me. My. Book!".

"What happens if I don't?" Lyre teased.

"You will find out unless you give it back" Weiss warned.

"Alright, come and get it then!" Lyre said before she ran of.

"LYRE!" Weiss shouts as she gets up and chased after the faunus "GET BACK HERE!".

Lyre laughed as Weiss was chasing her around. Weiss was fast when she was angry as Lyre barely managed to stay ahead of her. The chase ended when Weiss grabbed Lyre's tail, causing her to yelp as she was yanked backwards, and she ended up bumping in to Weiss, making both of them fall on the ground. Weiss got on top of Lyre, pinning her down by her shoulders and glared down at her.

"Give me back my book, Lyre!" The Ice Queen demanded.

Lyre smiled nervously "Now now, Weiss. No need to be mad".

Weiss growls at her before pulling her cheeks "My book! Now!".

"Ow ow wow! Alright alright!" Lyre said as she held up the book.

Weiss took it from her and stood up "You are so annoying!".

"Weiss wait, I'm sorry!" Lyre called out before Weiss could walk away, making her stop "I wasn't trying to make you mad. You just looked so stressed, and I wanted to help you relax".

"But I hope you realize now that your little stunt only made me more stressed" Weiss said.

"Yeah, I noticed. I'm sorry Weiss, really" Lyre said.

Weiss sighed "I am sorry too. You were trying to help, and there was no need for me to get that angry".

"But this was all my fault, so I need to make it up to you. Come on Weiss, anything I can do?" Lyre asked.

Weiss thinks for a moment "Well if you insist on making things up to me. And you really want to help me relax. Then I got an idea in mind".

Lyre blinks at what Weiss had in mind. And a few minutes later, both were sitting down near a tree... With Weiss' bare feet resting on Lyre's lap as the faunus girl was giving her a foot massage. Not really what Lyre expected, but it wasn't to bad. Weiss' feet didn't even smell, showing Weiss has great hygiene.

"Now this... is relaxing" Weiss said with her eyes closed.

Lyre smiled as she pulled Weiss' toes "You know, you have soft feet. Almost like snow".

"Well, isn't that ironic? Given I come from a cold kingdom" Weiss said.

"Atlas. I've never been there myself. What is it like?" Lyre asked as she kept rubbing Weiss' feet.

Weiss opened her eyes "Bet you heard a lot of great things about it. How it's the home of rich people and everyone is living the good life. But that is a lie. There is a massive difference between the rich and the poor. Atlas is located right above the city of Mantle, and the people down there lives a far less luxury life. And most of the rich people I've met are so stuck up and thinks they are above everyone who don't have money... kind of like how I was".

"What do you mean?" Lyre asked.

"Oh come on Lyre you know very well what I mean. Let's not pretend anything else, I was a stuck up brat when we met. And I still am. When Severa snapped at me back during our first days at school, it hurt. Not because she was mean, but because she was right. She forced me to realize how self centered and entitled I had been. I thought I should've been the leader of my team... only to realize just how unworthy I really am... and the way I treated you... just because I have trouble with the White Fang, it wasn't fair to be hostile towards you, since you didn't do anything. You see what I mean?" Weiss asked after explaining her flaws.

"Weiss, you made mistakes. Everyone does. I have also made mistakes in my life... mistakes I really wish I could go back and fix... mistakes that forced me and my sister apart..." Lyre said.

"What happened?" Weiss asked.

Lyre stopped massaging Weiss' feet as she looked sad "We had a disagreement... we had different views on how to handle the hostility between humans and faunus... we both said some things, and now she wants nothing to do with me anymore. That's why I came here to Beacon. I was hoping I could start a new life. And maybe prove that my sister was wrong... but... I can't get over the fact my own sister hates me now. While I still love her...".

Weiss was silent before removing her feet from Lyre's lap and put a hand on Lyre's shoulder, making the young girl look at her.. with tears in her eyes "I'm sorry, Lyre... I believe you are a good person. That much is clear".

Lyre smiled before hugging Weiss hard. Weiss blushed but sighed and she returned the hug. It wasn't that bad... and Lyre was a really interesting girl.

.

Yeah, this update came faster than planned. Mainly because the thought of Severa's father was really scratching my head. I don't want to spoil who her father is, but I will confirm this: Her father is a RWBY character.

And I wanted to write another moment between Weiss and Lyre. I will try to have the next chapter focus on Lucina and Bernadetta.

Tell me what you think.
