Family.

Yang is inside a nightmare. All around her are broken pieces of buildings and darkness. She looks around, confused, and lets out a small gasp when she looks down. She raises both of her arms and turns them, examining their presence, particularly her right arm.

Yang looks up from her arms to see Adam Taurus walking toward her. The red accents in his hair, mask and outfit have a surreal glow. Yang steps back defensively and discovers that she is suddenly wearing Ember Celica. She blasts Adam five times, but they do nothing to him while he steadily continues walking closer.

Adam puts his right hand on the handle of his sheathed sword. Yang tries to attack him again, but her weapon is gone, as is her right arm. She stares for a moment in confusion and disbelief and then startles when Adam is abruptly directly before her. He grins at her and starts to unsheath Wilt from Blush.

Yang awakens with a gasp. She is in her room, lying on top of her bed. The robotic arm given to her by General Ironwood rests on her bedside table, out of the box. Yang looks at it for a moment before turning her face away. She hears laughter coming from downstairs.

Yang heads downstairs to discover Professors Oobleck and Port sitting at her kitchen table and laughing with her father, Taiyang. She also sees Severa, along with her mother Cordelia, both standing next to each other near the kitchen sink. There's a bowl of fruit at the center of the table.

"And, and, and then, in comes Qrow, wearing a skirt! I was just a TA, I-I didn't know what to do, so I just... I just left the room to laugh!" Port said. Yang comes to the kitchen door while the four adults laugh, but Severa looked more grossed out.

"We told him it was a kilt! He'd never worn a uniform before, so he didn't know!" Tai said

Oobleck chuckled "That is terrible! What is wrong with you!?".

Tai playfully held up his hands "Hey! The girls all said he had nice legs! I did that jerk a favor!".

"I must admit. He pulled it of really well. I still have a picture of it" Cordelia said between giggles.

Tai motions to her "See? She liked it! Besides, that's not even the best part! See, then we-".

Port puts his right leg on the tabletop, cutting off Tai "Like what you see?".

The four laugh, but Severa groans in disgust. Then Port loses his balance. He tries to save himself from falling, but ends up on the floor. There's even more laughter, which Severa finally joined in. Tai claps from mirth and Port joins in the hilarity from the floor. Yang giggles too, covering her mouth, but they become alerted to her presence. Oobleck stands while Port gets up off the floor.

"Oh, uh, Miss Xiao Long! Uh, please, join us" Port said.

Yang enters while Oobleck laughs, a little bit embarrassed "Oh, yes, yes, pull up a chair. Please, pull up a chair".

"I'm good" Yang hoists herself backward up onto the kitchen counter, beside where her father stands. Port and Oobleck sit back dow "So, what are you doing here?".

"Despite popular belief, teachers do have a life outside the classroom" Oobleck answered.

"Professor Goodwitch is working 'round the clock to restore Beacon to its former glory! But, Mistral wasn't built in a day. And we all need rest from time to time" Port added.

"And reliving some good old memories helps lift the spirit" Cordelia finished.

"Thank goodness you finally came down, Yang. Not sure how much old talk I can handle" Severa said.

"We're not done yet, Severa. Now look, let's not worry about that right now. So, there we were, standing in the auditorium, looking at Qrow, wearing a skirt. Then Oz tells everyone, It's time to work on our landing strategy!" Tai said.

"OH NO! I do NOT want a mental image of that!" Severa said, wishing she could scrub her brain clean from that.

Cordelia giggled "Sure was a view".

"The Branwen twins have always been... interesting, to say the least" Oobleck said.

"That sure didn't seem to stop young Tai" Port reminded.

Tai dropped his amused face "Hey, come on, man, she's right here".

"Oh, please! She's a mature young woman! If she can handle combat, she can handle a few jabs at her old man!" Port said.

"That's not the issue, Pete! And besides, she's still a teenager!" Tai said.

Yang jumps down from the counter "She is also in the room, and can be directly spoken to. And I think I've been through enough to be considered an adult at this point".

Tai sighs "Adult or not, you've still got a long way to go before you're ready for the real world".

"Oh my gosh! Does every father figure have the same three condescending phrases?" Yang asked, sounnding annoyed.

Tai glares back at her "Yeah! But we only use them when we mean it!".

Cordelia, Port and Oobleck look at each other as father and daughter argue, a touch uncomfortable. Oobleck takes a sip from his mug while Port pulls at his collar. Cordelia glances at Severa who only looked down.

"Is that so?" Yang asked, sounding ready to snap.

"As a matter of fact, it is so! If you honestly think that you're ready to go out there on your own, ha, well I guess you lost some brain cells along with that arm" Tai said with an almost smug looking face.

Yang gasps and pulls back from her father's face while a stunned Port leans forward and Oobleck's mouth drops open and his glasses slip down. Cordelia looked horrified by what Tai just said, and Severa looked up with a similar expression. There's a comedic beat before the mug slips out of Oobleck's hand to safely land on the table. All stare at Tai for a few seconds.

"You... jerk!" Yang playfully punches Tai, and the father and daughter laugh together.

Oobleck whispers "Are we finally talking about the Goliath in the room?".

Tai and Yang look at each other and then laugh. Relieved laughter comes from the others, each of them happy it was only some father and daughter moment and nothing serious.

"Oh, Miss Xiao L— Yang, if you don't mind me asking, why haven't you tried on the arm yet?" Port asked.

"Oh, yes, yes! A piece of Atlas technology given out like that is rare indeed! Not to mention the effort it took to deliver it here. It seems a great many people want to see you returned to normal" Oobleck added.

"I'm... scared" Yang began as Tai takes a sideways step closer to her, watching and listening "Everyone keeps talking about me getting back to normal. And I appreciate it, but... this is normal now" Cordelia, Oobleck and Port exchange sad, knowing glances while Severa touches her missing eye "It's just taking me a while to get used to it".

"Well, normal is what you make of it" Tai said.

Yang looks at him "What is that supposed to mean? Do you want me to just pretend like nothing happened? I lost a part of me. A piece of me is gone. And it's never coming back".

"You're right. It's not coming back. But that doesn't have to stop you from becoming who you wanna be. You're Yang Xiao Long, my sunny little dragon" Tai puts his hand on his daughter's shoulder "You can do whatever you put your mind to. So whenever you're ready to stop moping, and get back out there, I'll be there for you".

Yang looks down "I... I...".

"Fear is like any other emotion. It comes and goes. It's all in how you handle it. Why, even I find myself wrestling with that emotion from time to time" Port said.

Yang looked unconvinced "Really? You?".

Oobleck whispers "He's afraid of mice".

"They bring only disease and famine!" Port said pounding the table. Yang was struggling not to laugh to hard while Port rants about the creepiness of mice "And don't even get me started on their tails! So hairless, and simply unnatural!".

"Port, I assure you, you are safe. There's no mice here right now" Oobleck said.

"Oh yes Pete. Those horrible little creature can't harm you now" Cordelia said between chuckles.

"Ok, I've had all I can handle of this... Yang, can we speak privately for a moment?" Severa asked.

Yang blinked in confusion "Sure".

They headed up to Yang's room, and Tai looked at Cordelia.

"You told her?" He asked.

Cordelia nodded "I did... It was time she knew the truth... And now, Yang needs to know as well".

The metal arm on the bedside table is the first thing Severa sees when she walks into Yang's room. Yang herself was close behind her, and closed the door.

"So this is your gift from Atlas?" Severa asked as she looked at the arm.

"Yeah... How is your..." Yang began but trailed of.

"My eye? Well one of them are gone, just like your arm. Took a while, but I've mostly gotten used to it. But that's not what I wanted to talk to you about" Severa said.

"Ok. What is it then?" Yang asked.

Severa took a moment to gather herself "After all these years... Mom finally cracked and told me who my father is... And who he is wasn't anywhere close to who I expected...".

"Oh? Who is he then?" Yang asked.

"He is... Qrow Brawen" Severa answered as she looked at a now shocked Yang "Your Uncle is my father, Yang".

Yang was utterly speechless for several seconds "But then... that means you an I are...".

Severa rubbed her neck "Nice to meet you... Cousin".

Yang silently walked up to Severa... and then she used her remaining arm to give Severa a strong hug. Severa was surprised before she felt tears on her shoulder and a soft sob from Yang. Part of her was worried that Yang would be angry... now she realized how stupid she was to think that.

"All this time... I had no idea I had more family out there... Oh god Severa! This is a lot to take in, but I want you to know this changes nothing between us. I always loved you as a friend... But now I will love you as family" Yang said between sobs.

Severa began crying as well and hugged Yang back, burying her face in to her neck. They held each other close, refusing to let each other go... Now they knew... They were more than just friends... They are family... and their bond is now stronger than ever.

On a path through the woods, the wandering Team moves forward with Ruby looking at a map.

"Come on, guys! If we pick up the pace, we can hit the next town before sunset!" Ruby said.

"Assuming it's still there" Jaune said, remembering the last village they saw.

Ruby had a hopeful smile "Of course it'll be there. This one's supposed to be pretty big! Hee-gan...bayn-a".

"Higanbana. It's a well protected village with a popular inn" Ren finished for her.

"Which means, no camping in the rain!" Nora added.

"And we can finally have a much needed shower and sleep in a real bed" Lucina said, smiling at the thought of being clean again.

"See? Everything's going to be fine!" Ruby said cheerfully.

Jaune smiled "You know, we've had a lot of ups and downs. But things could be a lot worse. I really thought we'd see more Grimm".

"As did I" Ren agreed.

"I guess our luck is finally turning around!" Nora said as she raised her hand "To Higanbana!".

Lucina, Jaune and Ren "To Higanbana!".

"To Higanban... ban-a!" Ruby said but still couldn't pronounche the name, making Lucina chuckle.

A Beowolf stomps into view and growls at the five kids. Just as it is about to leap, it is stabbed through by Qrow. Three disintegrating bodies of other Beowolves are just behind him. A black raven caws from a tree branch on eye level with Qrow, catching his attention. He looks at it and it flies off, following the group.

He scoffs "Luck".

It's raining on the village of Higanbana. Through the window of an inn, the team are shown silently discussing with the proprietor. Across the street, inside of a tavern. Qrow sits at a table, watching. A waitress sets a glass with liquor and ice in front of him.

He looks at her "Oh, I didn't o—".

"From the woman upstairs. Red eyes. Said you wouldn't mind bottom shelf" The Waitress said and Qrow turns and looks up for a moment before looking back.

"Thanks" He said.

The Waitress winks at him "But I went ahead and gave you top. Lucky you".

With a pleased smirk, Qrow watches the waitress as she walks away. After she is gone, he looks through the two windows to see no one visible in the lobby of the inn "Yeah".

He takes his glass and heads upstairs. His sister, Raven Branwen waits for him at one of the tables, her mask atop it.

"Hello, brother" She said.

Qrow stares at her from the top of the stairs for a moment before moving to her "Raven".

He pulls the chair that's beside her and drags it to a position across from her instead. With his hand on the back of the chair, he simply looks at her expectantly. Raven rolls her eyes and moves her mask to the side. Qrow sits down.

"So, what do you want?" He asked.

Raven shrugs "A girl can't just catch up with her family?".

"She can, but you're not. Now how 'bout we get on with it? Unless you plan on keeping these comin'" Qrow said as he sets the glass down.

"Does she have it?" Raven asked.

Qrow doesn't answer right away, instead running his fingertip along the edge of his glass "Did you know Yang lost her arm?".

Raven glares a him for ignoring her question "That's not—".

"Rhetorical question, I know you know. It's just obnoxious that you'd bring up family and then carry on like your own daughter doesn't exist" Qrow said.

"I saved her" Raven said defensively.

"Once. Because that was your rule, right? Real Mom of the Year material, sis" Qrow said and Raven leans forward and grabs him by the forearm, stilling his sarcastic, nonchalant motions.

"I told you Beacon would fall and it did. I told you Ozpin would fail and he has. And you have some nerves lecturing me about not being there for my daughter. When you yourself ignore your own daughter" Raven said, earning a glare from her brother "Now you tell me. Does. Salem. Have it?".

"I thought you weren't interested in all of that" Qrow reminded.

"I just want to know what we are up against" Raven said.

"And which "we" are you referring to?" Qrow asked, making Raven glare and finally lets go of her brother and sits back down with a noise of disgust "You should come back, Raven. The only way we'd beat her is by working together. All of us".

"You're the one who left. The tribe raised us, and you turned your back on them" Raven reminded.

"They were killers and thieves" Qrow said.

"They were your family" Raven argued.

"You have a very skewed perception of that word" Qrow said.

Raven stands up, upset "I lead our people now. And as leader, I will do everything in my power to ensure our survival".

"I saw. The people of Shion saw, too" Qrow said.

"The weak die, the strong live. Those are the rules" Raven said.

"Well, you've certainly got someone strong on your side. I've seen the damage" Qrow said.

Raven turns away, crossing her arms "We couldn't have known the Grimm would set in as quickly as they did".

"I'm not talking about the Grimm" Qrow said, Raven looks up, eyes widening slightly at his words "And I'm not talking about you, either".

Raven finally turns back "If you don't know where the Relic is, then we have nothing left to talk about".

As she reaches for her mask, Qrow grabs onto the top of it "I don't know where the Spring Maiden is, either, but if you do, I need you to tell me".

"And why would I do that?" Raven asked, almost sounding amused before pulling her mask out of Qrow's grasp.

"Because without her, we're all going to die" Qrow said.

A moment of tense silence passes between them as a nearby lantern dies out and Raven scoffs "And which "we" are you referring to? Now, I have another child to get back to".

Qrow grimaces as Raven walks away. But then he suddenly realizes what Raven said. Another child? The sound of her sword getting unsheathed is heard and he looks up as Raven walks into her red portal and disappears before he could ask what she meant. There's the sound of breaking glass and a gasp. Qrow turns to see the waitress, trembling at the sight of Raven disappearing. She takes a cautious step backward as she looks sideways at Qrow.

Qrow gestures to his glass "Make this one a double".

Meanwhile inside one of the inn's rooms, Lucina was taking a much needed shower. After so much walking and camping outside, they rarely had time to enjoy even something as simple as being clean, so Lucina planned to take full advantage of this opportunity. She allowed the water to wash over her tired body, and the amazing feeling of being clean again made Lucina relax... But then she felt arms around her.

"Mind if I join in, my sweet?" Came the voice of Cinder.

Lucina let out a quick scream before quickly turning around to punch Cinder... only to end up punching the wall... because Cinder wasn't there. Lucina was breathing hard before she jumped when the shower curtains were suddenly pulled aside, revealing Ruby who was holding Crescent Rose ready for battle.

"Lucina! Are you ok? What... happened...?" Ruby trailed of when she didn't see any threat... only a very naked Lucina...

Several seconds passed before Lucina blushed bright red and quickly covered herself.

"AH! Sorry! Sorry! Sorry! Sorry! Sorry! Sorry! Sorry! Sorry! Sorry! Sorry! Sorry! Sorry!" Ruby repeated as she hurried out of the room, her own face matching her hood.

Lucina was still blushing... that was way to awkward... She sighed before turning of the shower and grabbed a towel.

She walked out of the bathroom and in to the bed room she was sharing with Ruby, while the remaining members of team JNPR shared another room since they were used to it. Lucina saw Ruby looking out the window. Knowing things would get awkward between them if she didn't clear things up now, Lucina decided to talk to her.

"Ruby..." She said making the younger girl jump in surprise and turned around.

Ruby blushed again when she noticed Lucina was only wearing a towel "Oh, you need to get changed? I will leave you alone".

"No, Ruby... Please stay. We need to talk" Lucina said as she sat on the bed and motioned Ruby to sit next to her. Ruby gulped but did as instructed "I know you didn't barge in on me for a perverted reason. You heard me scream and just wanted to make sure I was ok, right?".

"Yes... I heard you scream and I was worried someone was attacking you" Ruby said, still feeling awkward about rushing in on Lucina like that.

Lucina sighed "I felt like I was... Ruby... I keep feeling like Cinder is after me".

"Cinder?" Ruby asked in confusion and worry.

"This is something I haven't told many people about... But you need to know" Lucina said before she took a deep breath and began explaining "Back in Beacon, not long after Cinder and her minions arrived... She began... doing things to me?".

"What things?" Ruby asked, worried about the answer.

Lucina gripped her towel hard "She stole my first kiss... and she... touched me in ways I didn't like... I felt so violated. Ever since then I keep feeling like she is nearby. When I sleep or when I am just alone... I feel her horrible touch... and all the awful things she whispers in my ear... I... I am scared Ruby... I am scared she will find me again and...".

She couldn't finish, but she didn't need to. Ruby may be younger and some would say naive. But she understood more than enough. Cinder had caused Lucina a lot of emotional pain... and what happened at Beacon only made things worse. Lucina was struggling to stay strong, but on the inside she was falling apart... She needed help. So Ruby did the only logical thing she could think of. She hugged Lucina, ignoring the fact she was completely naked and only wearing a towel.

Lucina gasped but soon relaxed "Thank you Ruby...".

"Anytime, Lucina... I am here for you... We are all here for you" Ruby said.

Lucina smiled at that, already feeling a little better "I know... But right now".

She stood up, and just as Ruby looked up, Lucina's towel suddenly covered her head "Hey!".

"I need to get dressed, keep it on until I'm done. No peeping" Lucina ordered.

Ruby blushed under the towel, and Lucina smiled. No matter what happens, she knew she wouldn't face it alone.
