'Ooooooh! It looks sooooo good!'
Pink eyes sparkled with joy as they beheld their newly obtained prize, well-manicured hands holding it carefully, yet firmly, within its palm, thumb running idly across its cool, smooth surface. A giddy smile curled on Mizuki's lips as she excitedly held her drink out in front of her, silently admiring it in all of its glory, the pink-haired girl practically bursting with excitement at getting to try Starbucks' newest frappuccino creation.
The pink-haired fashionista and her girlfriend were currently in the midst of one of their many, Ena might even say too many, shopping sprees, the pair currently taking a break from their store hopping, giving Mizuki the perfect opportunity to go and grab them some drinks, having excitedly volunteered to go and get them without hesitation. Niigo's resident editor, with an almost eager spring in her step when the brown-haired artist had agreed with an exasperated huff after Mizuki's incessant needling, had rushed off to buy them, leaving her girlfriend behind, a multitude of bags full of purchased items surrounding Ena's feet.
'I have to make sure to remember to thank her for paying for it.' Mizuki reminded herself of the deal she had made with Ena when she had paid for her dress, and what a wonderful dress it ended up being if she could say so herself, the fashion-loving girl rounding the last corner from where she had left the brown-haired artist, her speed increasing as she caught sight of her girlfriend.
Raising Ena's drink into the air, Mizuki was about to call out to her but stopped suddenly when she noticed a strange look on the brown-haired girl's face as she stared intently at her phone, her expression seeming slightly dour as she idly flipped through her personal social media page, selfie after selfie scrolling by like an endless photo reel. Clicking back to the top of her page, her new selfie front and center, Mizuki noticed that she must have taken it recently, the background matching their immediate surrounding, Ena stared at her mirror image with an almost bored expression, a clear juxtaposition to the bright smile of her photographic doppelgänger.
With an idle press of her thumb, Ena switched over to her art page, wide, brown eyes suddenly lighting up, pink lips falling open into a surprised gape as she swiftly pressed on her newest post, a beautiful drawing of a technicolor dreamscape filling the screen. Scrolling down slightly, Ena's surprised expression morphed into an ecstatic grin, the brown-haired artist bouncing in her seat as she held her phone excitedly in front of her as she read over a new comment that was left about her art.
Ena was practically beaming with overwhelming joy as she quickly responded to the message, the smile on her lips only growing wider as she softly giggled, her brown eyes incandescent with happiness. Watching her girlfriend from afar, Mizuki's heart warming at seeing Ena so ecstatic, her attention focused especially on her girlfriend's smile, loving how genuine and beautiful it was.
It was so different from the fake ones she puts on when taking one of her selfies, how dim and lifeless her eyes seem when she smiles for the camera, the difference between them and the one she had right now practically night and day. It was like looking at a doll, one that looked exactly like her girlfriend, but didn't carry that same warmth, that overwhelming beauty that Mizuki saw in her whenever she would grace her with a smile. It made her heart ache whenever she would see Ena take one of her selfies, seeing all the light drain from her eyes, see her face plaster on that fake mask, all in a desperate attempt to find the adoration she craved so desperately.
But, this smile, the one her girlfriend had right at this moment, one she showed so rarely, was one of the most beautiful things Mizuki had ever seen. It is one she hoped to see more and more of every day, hoping to bring that beauty out to the forefront, wanting to be the one to make Ena smile so wonderfully.
To make Ena feel the same love she felt for her.
Looking at Ena, the brown-haired artist still beaming after her new comment, Mizuki's loving smile slowly morphed into a teasing grin as she strolled up to her unsuspecting girlfriend, prepared to milk this moment for all the fun she could get.
"Oi Ena! Whatcha looking at?~"
A/N: A smile to brighten the room.
We get to see a rare moment of Ena letting her guard down, her excitement at finally getting a comment on her artwork causing her not to notice Mizuki, a mistake she will surely regret once Mizuki's teasing begins. At least Mizuki got to see something nice.
Next chapter should be out in the next couple of days. Fair warning, it will be ever so slightly more suggestive than previous chapters. Nothing over the top but it will still be there. See ya then!
