Sorry it's been so long since I updated. Unfortunately, my last therapist quit unexpectedly, so I had to get used to my new one before writing more chapters.
Ms. Kelsey arrived for her appointment with Troi. She hated that she had to depend on outside resources to get to this appointment and that those external resources would make her late getting home.
Once she arrived, she gave Deanna a small snack. Next, she ate her own small snack while drinking water. Then the session began. First, Ms. Kelsey informed Deanna about how her father had decided to screw her mother over when they agreed upon their divorce settlement. In the simplest of terms, he weaseled his way out of paying what she was owed. However, that wasn't surprising, considering who her father was. He'd disowned his children and treated them all like trash.
He used her as a weapon against her mother when she'd been a teenager—speaking nothing but lies against her. He left her home alone all the time so he could go on vacation. Even forced her to take back her statement of how her stepbrother almost RAPED her. He said he felt reading and writing were a waste of time. And so many other asshole things. Thus now, her father was dead to her because he was an asshole narcissist who only cared about himself.
While Deanna drew a picture of a castle to showcase how one should set up boundaries, Ms. Kelsey wanted to move on. She explained how she'd helped a friend set up an account so she could post her own stories. That she still had permission to update the story on her own account. Plus would continue to edit any future chapters.
They had a slight argument when Ms. Kelsey insisted people didn't change or that some people were incapable of it. For example, sociopaths, psychopaths, and narcissists, to name a few, due to how their brains were wired, are incapable of changing. You could tell them all a million and one times till you're blue in the face why their conduct is inappropriate.
However, they'll never change because they don't see anything wrong with their actions. Also, because they've no remorse or empathy, it only furthers the fact they cannot change. Since they don't feel a pang of guilt regarding their action, those types of people honestly cannot take accountability for their actions. Therefore, again, they will stay the same.
As they were wrapping up, Ms. Kelsey's ire grew again when she discovered that her set appointment time had somehow changed. She hadn't done anything that could result in it changing. She left a bit frustrated, which was only added when it took over half an hour to get home. Instead, she went to her mother's room to clean up some to get her feelings out. Oh, what a lovely day!
