Ms. Kelsey felt slightly anxious as she went to Troi's office. There had been some scheduling issues, and she almost didn't have an appointment today. Still, she arrived at 12:30 to have her weekly session. Deanna apologized for the scheduling mix-up before assuring Ms. Kelsey their appointments would be from here on Thursday at ten. Ms. Kelsey just sighed before they began speaking.
First, she explained she had overdone it on Tuesday trying to exercise. She explained she wanted to prove she was committed to making the changes needed to lose weight. However, she went too hard on the first day. Doing too much exercise at once. Deanna calmly reminded her that it takes time for the body to build strength and stamina to increase its energy output to allow you do work out longer.
She gently reminded her to start slowly and steadily increasing simple daily goals. Like adding a half hour to her exercises at home each day. Just slow changes so her body could adjust properly without burning out and quitting. Ms. Kelsey said she'd only gone at it so hard because she wanted to prove she could commit to changing.
However, she also admitted she'd been feeling tired and weak, even if it was two days later. She'd also been so tired. Lately, she'd been sleeping like a rock. She'd even been so tired she forgot to plug her nightlight in. That's how worn out she'd been. Again, Deanna said when one is making changes to their routine for health reasons, its best to start small and work their way up. She then asked if there was something else on her mind.
Ms. Kelsey explained she'd written a story inspired by ghost hunters. She also admitted she felt mild annoyance with people who lived only in terms of science. She had nothing against people in the sense she hated them. She merely felt those who only lived by logic and cold hard facts were missing out on the part of what makes you human and what it meant to live genuinely.
She also hated it when people didn't use common sense. She quickly got annoyed with people asking questions that they could figure out themselves if they used common sense. She also acknowledged that while you should walk away when angry, sometimes you cannot do it. Deanna said if you can't walk away, do so in your mind. Take a few deep breaths and mentally walk away before reengaging with the person upsetting you.
The pair discussed how to tell someone when they needed to leave politely. As Ms. Kelsey explained, she felt her emotions intensely and quickly got angry. But she didn't know how to explain to someone without being rude to leave. So, again, they talked about ways to bid someone goodbye politely. They also spent a few minutes discussing how all communication on the ship had gone down over the weekend.
How frustrating that problem had been with how it surprised everyone. Not to mention how long it took for Engineering to get the issue resolved. They finished up by looking at Ms. Kelsey's latest sketches. She'd gone to the ship's indoor garden to color some. Although most remained uncolored. Still, Deanna praised her for the beautiful drawings. Finally, they bid each goodbye, saying they would meet next week.
