Entering DxD
This chapter took longer than usual for reasons of I was busy with other stuff.
"Had a nice trip?"
It was noticeable that Susanoo was in a great mood. Issei and Cynthia were in front of him, laughing as merrily as the god of storms. Apple was on the brunette's shoulder, sleeping without paying attention to their conversation. They were in Susanoo's office, having been teleported there after quickly passing through the Dimensional Gap.
The place was large and located at the top of a huge building, which the two honestly didn't know why Susanoo even had it.
"You can be sure we had, uncle."
Issei replied. If someone who didn't know them were to be there, they would be shocked at how casually he referred to the god.
"It was pretty quick too."
Cynthia added.
"Did you two by any chance pass by Great Red?"
The god casually asked with a gleam of curiosity in his eyes as he shifted back and forth in his swivel chair.
"The big one? Of course. I waved to him, seems like a nice guy."
Issei replied, with Cynthia nodding her head in agreement.
"Pff... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"
The response given by his nephew by consideration made Susanoo stop abruptly and fall back into his chair, as he began to laugh intensely.
Outside, in the city, it sounded like thunder was roaring in the skies.
"Is everything okay there uncle?"
Cynthia asked with furrowed brows while Issei looked mildly amused by Susanoo's reaction.
"Hehe, I'm feeling great." He said getting up and straightening his chair. "It's just that you confirmed a suspicion that I've had for millennia."
This made the couple stare at each other curiously. Seeing their confused looks, Susanoo elaborated.
"There is a belief that the Great Red is some kind of protector or defender of our universe. But since you guys got a good look at him, tell me, does he look like some kind of protector?"
Again Issei and Cynthia stared at each other before answering.
"No, I didn't feel that kind of presence from him."
The blonde spoke.
"Actually, if I were to say, he seemed to have the presence of someone who doesn't care about anything while just doing what he wants. As Robin-kaasan would say, he looks like a delinquent with nothing better to do."
Issei concluded, slamming the palm of his left hand with his clenched right fist.
"Heh, your words would probably shock half of the supernatural world. But forget about it. Ise, I was briefly told about what happened, can I see your other arm?"
Without hesitating after hearing Susanoo's request, Issei stretched out his right arm and summoned the Devouring Gear.
Susanoo hissed as he faced what was now his world's fourteenth Longinus. News of that would shock the entire supernatural world, and perhaps break its balance in half. Needless to say, he would keep the matter an absolute secret.
The gear was still in cracks, in almost the same precarious state that Vegapunk had seen it, but a tiny bit better as it slowly healed.
Despite being impressed, Susanoo still felt something was off.
"Is there a particular reason why your encounter with that other... you happened to... you? Damn, this multi-worlds thing can get confusing..."
He scratched his head, confused by his own phrase.
"Vegapunk mentioned something about it. He thinks it's because of my father's powers."
This made Susanoo raise an eyebrow, confused.
"What does it have to do?"
Crossing his arms, the sekiryuutei wore a thoughtful expression, but Cynthia was the one to promptly explain.
"Since Devil Fruits affect the user at the level of changing their lineage factor, Vegapunk was always puzzled as to why descendants of Devil Fruit users were not affected. But he eventually found out why. The lineage factor of the descendants does inherit a portion of the modification suffered after eating the fruit, but it is so small that is negligible."
The blonde explained, showing that even she had a certain fascination with the subject, which made sense considering her family. The whole time Issei just nodded, confirming her words. And of course, being who he was, Susanoo could finish completing loose stitches.
"And that tiny portion was enough to attract him to you?"
The Boosted Gear manifested itself on Issei's left arm, with Ddraig taking part in the conversation.
[Those with destiny will always meet God of Storms. Maybe it's the tiny amount of DNA he inherited from his father's power, but it seems to have been enough to link the fates of those two.]
Hearing the mention of his other version made Issei reaffirm once again his will to fulfill what was asked of him.
Susanoo contemplated Ddraig's words for a few moments, considering a few things.
'Of many worlds, he was born into this one and was directed back here... it truly is fate, huh... well, whatever.'
Shrugging, Susanoo decided that he would just do as he was already wanting to do for now, going with the flow. Watching the changes the Sekiryuutei's presence would bring to this world. And he had to contain the smile that threatened to form on his face as he imagined the possible chaos Issei would bring.
He just didn't know how quickly things could spiral out of control in the future...
"Well, then let's - Wait a second!" Whatever the god was going to say, he interrupted himself when noticing a detail that he had ignored in the conversation they had just had. "Even if the amount of DNA from your father's powers is too minuscule to manifest, can't you use your powers to change that?"
The only response he got was a long chuckle from Issei, and a much scarier and more curious one, from Ddraig. The god of storms decided it was probably best not to pursue the matter.
"Ok... and Ise, before I forget, here."
The leviathan picks up an amulet with Japanese writing, which Issei understood was about concealment, and looked at the object curiously.
"What's this for?"
He asks, eyeing his uncle thoughtfully.
"Your aura is too strong, you will end up scaring away certain people, or worse, certain things. They could think that a dragon is attacking, so this will help hide your draconic aura. But seriously, no one ever tried to teach you how to be discreet?"
Susanoo's speech made Issei scratch his head awkwardly and Cynthia sigh in defeat.
"We tried, and it was catastrophic."
The blonde's said, making the god raise a curious eyebrow.
[It's not like dragons are good at being discreet, to begin with. It's a simple fact that we're not, Issei is just... particularly bad even for our species standards in that regard.]
Even Ddraig had to admit it, making a bead of sweat run down Susanoo's forehead. Issei just shrugged, not caring too much about it. Anyway, now at least he had the amulet to cover it up.
...
"So?"
Susanoo asked with pride in his voice. But expectations rarely met the realities.
"It's kinda small."
Issei spoke, not putting the slightest effort into hiding his disappointment.
"So that's a house."
With her eyebrows raised, Cynthia's expression also showed a lack of interest.
If someone heard them at that moment, they would think that their ears were failing, because the house that the couple was facing was gigantic. Just seen from the sidewalk, it covered the space of what must have been at least three other houses, and inside it still occupied a considerable half of the block in width. It was almost a small mansion.
And yet, for the two of them who had grown up on the gigantic ship that was the Sunny, and which was most of the time on the move, it was nothing worth mentioning.
"Hah, you guys would make my real estate salespeople cry."
Despite sighing, Susanoo had already imagined that this would be the result.
"What?"
The two asked as they didn't recognize the term said by their uncle.
"Nothing. Come on, I'll show you inside."
The door was already open, but Susanoo took the opportunity to throw the two entrance keys to Issei and Cynthia.
The entrance to the house was a vast flower garden that was probably maintained by some magic, as both the sekiryuutei and the blonde felt a familiar sort of energy coming from the earth. As soon as she saw the garden, Apple jumped off Issei's shoulder and went into the middle of the plants and flowers.
"Yeah, we'll see her in a few days."
Says the sekiryuutei, knowing that the snake would probably be sure to hunt and investigate the surroundings, whether it be the house or the entire area around them. She would come back when she felt like it.
There was a small pond with some fish, which Susanoo promptly told Issei that shouldn't be eaten.
The house itself was three stories high and large enough for several people, even though there were only two residents at the time.
"Yeah, I think it will do."
Issei spoke with his arms crossed, entering the house.
"I'll let you take a look at the interior yourselves, I'll wait outside."
The god of storms tells them, stopping in front of the lake as he stares at the fishes.
The first thing Issei went to look at was the kitchen.
"Look at this, I think sensei would like this stove. The mouth is also great, although I'm sure he prefers gas. The fridge is spacious too, chichichi, perfect."
The part of the house he liked the most so far was undoubtedly the kitchen.
"Of course it is. Uncle knows who he is dealing with after all."
Cynthia speaks teasingly, making Issei laugh.
Taking advantage of the fact that he was already in the kitchen, he starts taking out all the cooking tools from the Boosted Gear storage system and, with Cynthia's help, arranges them on the shelves and drawers.
After that they went on to look at the rest of the house, already arranging their belongings throughout as they did so, stopping only when they reached the bedroom with a gigantic double bed.
"Uncle really knows us. This bed fits much more than two people."
Cynthia commented with a laugh, as the bed alone took up almost half of the room.
"Chichichi, why don't we test it now?"
Issei asks with a silly smile putting his hands on Cynthia's waist, who in response laughs and gives him a flick on the forehead. (That last action requires her to stay on her fingertips.)
"Maybe later, but you know, I would still like to be able to walk normally around the city."
She says, grabbing his arm and already pulling him out of the room. And of course, Issei wouldn't complain about the opportunity to explore, especially a city he knew nothing about.
"At your service."
As soon as they left they saw Susanoo playing with the fish, making small rain clouds over them, while they tried in vain to escape.
"Are you two done?" Seeing the couple nod, a smile, which both knew was mischievous, formed on Susanoo's face. "Do you want to see the academy where you are going to study?"
Obviously, his smile only made them more curious.
...
The sound of the bell rings notified the end of class, as groups of students started getting up to leave.
"Any plans for today Nezu-chan?"
Arisawa Tatsuki asked her childhood friend Kamado Nezuko. The first one had already put everything in her backpack and was ready to leave, just waiting for her friends."
Nezuko placed her index finger on her chin and pouted.
"No, nii-chan and I are just going to the market to do the shopping our mother asked. If it's not too boring for you, would you two like to come with us?"
She asks Tatsuki, but also her other friend, Inoue Orihime, a young woman with orange hair and a more curvaceous figure than usual compared to other girls of her age. Particularly her breasts, which Nezuko constantly stared at, despite her own figure being a bit more developed than her peers as well.
"Huh? Oh sure, it'll be fun."
Orihime replied, but she clearly didn't have her mind there.
Nezuko and Tatsuki stared at each other, and in unison nodded their heads at each other.
"Don't worry about the new student Hime-chan! I haven't seen her and Ichigo talking since she arrived!"
Nezuko said, trying to cheer her friend up.
"Yeah, if that imbecile doesn't pay attention to you, he won't pay attention to anyone else."
Tatsuki spoke, putting her arm around Orihime's neck.
"Hmm, are you sure? I feel like he kept looking at her several times... although he was looking astonished."
Orihime spoke, looking convinced, but a little wary.
"Come on, it's Ichigo. Maybe he picked a fight with her brother or something. Relax."
What Tatsuki's said made the orange-haired stop for a moment, then her expression completely changed, getting much better.
"You're right, that makes a lot of sense!"
Now relieved, the three laughed at Orihime's improved mood.
"Let's go out then, I feel that today will be fun!"
Nezuko spoke, pulling the two out of the room, grinning from ear to ear.
Last chapter we finished Vol 0, the prologue, and with this one we enter Vol 1 territory, that will cover this first arc with their integration in the DxD world, and the first 2 canon DxD arcs.
Now for some clarification:
This was already explained in previous chapters, but humans in One Piece are not actual humans, simply look at Whitebeard's size, there is just a lack of a better term to refer to them. Issei and Cynthia will not be treated or seen as humans, and mostly Issei is and will be treated as a dragon. His aura, and as so his soul, is 100% that of a dragon, and so is his body, flesh and blood, because of both the fruit and the modified boosted gear. Honestly, this because one, dragons are the best, and two, I hate the DxD fanfics obsession with keeping the characters humans and making humans seem to be amazing, when truly, there is like, one strong character that is purely human in DxD, no sacred gear, no special descendance. Humans are just... not it.
And as has been hinted, Issei still has a large arsenal of stuff he did not show. The whole thing about smalls amounts of the lineage factor of a devil fruit is 100% headcanon, but as we know devil fruits do change someone's lineage factor, that's the headcanon I came up with. I also doubt Oda would give that much detail about DNA and how it might or not affect the descendants, so I think is safe in this regard.
And as might be already obvious, Rukia is already here. In this adapted timeline, we currently are around the time she just joined the school and Ichigo is dealing with random hollows. I don't think anyone wants to see stuff as the arc with Chad's bird, so we will just skip those bits.
