The instant Celest awoke within the darkness of the Twili Mirror, a place she had sought refuge to escape the wrath of an unknown and sinister being, she opened her eyes to a kaleidoscope of colors swirling around her surroundings. It reminded her of a mirage, the colors blurring in and out of focus in reds, pinks, orange, and purples, but they did not take on any shape or form familiar to her.

Recalling what happened previously to her beloved sister, Midna, and even her mother, not to mention that horrid monster that had stabbed Zant through so violently, tears welled in her eyes. Unable to control her sadness, Celest wept. They were gone. They were gone forever.

"What do I do now?" She asked herself. "How am I supposed to find this Hero of Light?"

Although Zant made it seem as though this legendary hero could make things right, she knew in her heart that he could not turn back the hands of time. Everything she once loved was gone, and now with the realization that she was not a Twili and that her real mother likely came from the world of light, Celest was at a crossroads. What would become of her life once she found the hero and all was said and done?

"If I'm not a Twili… then I must have come from that world… but why? Why was I set adrift down the Black Sea? What became of my real parents? If I'm not Celest… then… who am I?"

And just then, a distant memory returned to her, and recalling that name, Celest touched the blue diamond pendant around her neck.

"Kagome… Is that… my real name?"

Within the swirls of colors, a figure emerged, and caught off guard, Celest immediately stood up, but as the person approached closer, she recognized him instantly.

"Emmet!"

The young man, who hadn't aged a single day since she last saw him, stood a few feet away with his cheshire smile. "I'm pleased you remember that name. And you are correct. Your name is Kagome. Higurashi Kagome."

Blue eyes widened at this revelation, but despite this, she could not stop from throwing her arms around his middle as she hugged him tightly. Her tears overflowed all at once, and he held her like a father would his child. "I thought I'd never see you again…"

"But I kept my promise. You've grown up so fast, and now you're on an important journey…"

Hearing this, Celest pulled away. "How… do you know that?"

He frowned. "Forgive me… There were things I needed to take care of back in my world before I could return to check on you. When I arrived however, it seemed a great terror had swept the kingdom."

"My mother… my sister… and Zant… They're gone…" She cried.

Emmett nodded. "I know… but all is not lost. I've returned because it was time that I reveal the truth to you and help guide you on your journey."

"My name is… Higurashi Kagome?" She asked, and he nodded. "Does that mean I'm from your world?"

To her surprise, he shook his head. "You are from… another world, one which does not coexist with the Twilight Realm or Hyrule."

"Hyrule?"

"The Twili refer to Hyrule as the Light World or World of Light, but you, my dear come from a very distant place that is impossible to reach even now. I believe your world was once called Earth."

Again, she slowly nodded at this, and Emmett sweat dropped. "I… don't understand…"

"I know…"

"If you know my name… that means, you know everything about me…" Celest began, and as she recalled those fairytale stories he once read to her as a child, she furrowed her brow. "Was I the girl from those stories? The one who jumped down a well into another world?"

He nodded. "Yes. I knew you… or that is to say, I knew your past self, many centuries ago. I know everything from when we first met and until your last breath. You are here, Kagome, because you asked me to grant you a wish, one which has tied your life to Hyrule even now. But circumstances happened after your rebirth, and I had no choice but to bring you into the Twilight Realm."

This came as a shock to her. Her past self made a wish, and Emmett somehow granted it by allowing her to be reborn in this world? But why? Who was she before all this even started? "I have so much I want to ask you…"

"I know… but time is of the essence. I'm afraid all your questions will have to wait until later, Kagome," He said, patting her head gently. "Now, stop those tears and prepare your heart. You've traveled through the mirror in search of the Legendary Hero, so there should be no delay."

At this, she quickly wiped her tears. "Yes… You're right… But… if I'm to cross over into this other world, how will I even know how to find him?"

He pressed his finger onto her forehead and smiled. "Your answer is here. When you were reborn into this world as a baby, you bore the insignia of destiny which not only put your life in danger, but that of your family. You were born during a great war, and with your mother's dying breath, she fled into the forest to save your life. That is how you and I met for a second time."

"The insignia of destiny?" She asked.

"Yes. Something that is wanted by all evil in the world. That is why I changed your image and sent you to the Twilight Realm. You were not yet old enough to face the challenges against you…"

An immediate gasp escaped her. "Then that means… I'm not… this isn't what I really look like?!" She asked, referring to her white hair and pale skin, and to her surprise, he nodded once more. "I'm starting to understand… but only a little…"

"A little is better than not understanding at all," He smiled. "We stand in the crossroads between dimensions, so once you step foot into Hyrule, you will no longer retain this appearance. Instead, you will return to your true image."

"Ok… I'm ready."

He nodded at this. "The mark on your forehead is both a blessing and a curse. Do not let others notice it, for if they do, your life, as well as others, will fall into danger. The mark will guide you to the Legendary Hero. You will know its him when you find him."

"Ok."

"And one more thing…"

"Yes?"

"This is where we say our farewells. When the time is right, we'll meet again. Goodbye, Kagome, and good luck. Believe in your strengths, and you will be just fine…"

Before she could reach out and hug him one last time, he faded into the surrounding colors, and soon after, immediate darkness shrouded her vision, and a pale blue light lifted her off her feet.

A/N

I'm back! Did you miss me? Lol Originally, I was going to give up on this story due to a failed collaboration with an old friend of mine, but my motivation has returned! :D

I'm going to tweak Kagome's Twili appearance since it doesn't make sense for her to be albino if she's supposed to blend in for her own safety.

Spoilers below:

After playing Breath of the Wild, I thought it would be cool for Kagome to regain her memories over the course of her adventure with Link. I'll also add in the Hero Shade as he's also pretty important in the story. Remember the diamond pendant-Nayru's Love? That's the gift Link gave her in "A Place in Their Hearts". Still important and useful in this sequel.

Other than that, I hope this continuation excites everyone! 😊 I'll continue updating on here, Ao3. Eventually, I might add an audio of the story on YouTube.
