Chapter 10: Non-Complete Clause
On a peaceful day at the School of Friendship, Rainbow Dash quickly zoomed inside. She was flying so fast, that when she passed Yona, Silverstream, Mako, and Korra who were talking with each other.
The papers Yona was holding flew out of her hoof, Rainbow flew back and grab the papers and gave them to Yona. Rainbow quickly zipped off, but the sheets flew out of Yona's hoof again.
Meanwhile, Twilight, Chase, and the others were at the teacher's lounge, and Rainbow arrived.
"Did I miss the Teacher of the Month announcement?" Rainbow said.
"You're just in time." Said Applejack before she gave Rainbow a smug smile. "But it's gonna be me."
"Yeah, right. I got this one nailed." Rainbow retorted with a smug smirk as Applejack rolled her eyes in annoyance.
"And the Friendship School Teacher of the Month is..." Twilight announced as Rainbow and Applejack had big smiles. "Fluttershy!"
That made Rainbow and Applejack's smiles die.
"Again?" Applejack asked as she groaned in disappointment with her hooves crossed.
"Come on!" Rainbow complained.
"There's no need to hog over it, you two." Darkshine said firmly, making the two ponies flinch in surprise.
"Yeah, guys." Jade added with a glare. "Try to cheer Fluttershy on instead of competing with each other over the trophy."
The two just groaned in reply as they turned from her annoyingly.
"Oh, my! I don't know how I keep winning." Fluttershy said surprised.
Then Spike went up with a camera, and took her picture and the flash had her disoriented for a second.
"Yeah. Me, neither." Rainbow crossed her hooves as Sokka glared at the pegasus mare before he turn to Fluttershy with a proud smile.
"Well done, honey. You've really been proving yourself to be a great teacher." Sokka said as he kissed Fluttershy on the cheek, making his wife giggle.
"Oh, Sokka. I can't take all of the credit, honey. After all, you were by my side the whole time. So I'll share the trophy with you." Fluttershy said as Sokka smiled tearfully.
"The award is based on the students' vote." Said Twilight as she and Chase approached the pegasus couple. "They must really like you and Sokka."
"And with you all of the easy tests you both have given to them,
Spike brought out the photo, and looked at the wall, but realized that Fluttershy had the same look 10 times in a row now.
"You might want to start finding a way for everypony to have a chance, Fluttershy." Said Sunray. "It looks like you have enough Teacher of the Month awards now."
"Congratulations, Fluttershy!" Twilight said, using her magic to bring an award trophy as it passed Applejack and Rainbow, who had disappointed looks.
Fluttershy giggled to herself as Sokka hugged his wife lovingly. That's when Rainbow and Applejack realized something as they glared at Chase.
"But why does Chase not get to have it? He's already been the better teacher and headstallion here." Rainbow demanded as she pointed to a trophy wall that three trophies of Chase being the Teacher of The Month for three times.
Chase just gave her an unamused look.
"Come on, guys." Chase said firmly. "It's not a big deal. Besides, I only won the trophies like in three months. Just because all of the students look up to me, doesn't mean I get to win the award all of the time. And I don't want to be a bragger either. It's not a competition."
Rainbow and Applejack glared at him before they reverted their eyes to the side indignantly while Twilight giggled in amusement as she cleared her throat.
"Next item of business - I've been looking into a new activity for our friendship classes. Spike?" Twilight announced.
Spike carried the Friendship rulebook, which was heavy for him. He tried to open it, but it was too thick for him to flip it open. So Twilight used her magic to open it for him.
"Section one-forty-seven, paragraph two states that teamwork is a key part of friendship." Twilight reads the book. "And section two-two-nine, paragraph nine says outdoor activity reinforces learning. Add that together, and what do you get?"
"Ooh, ooh!" Pinkie raising her hoof. "Okay, let me see. One-forty-seven, two-twenty-nine, carry the two... 387?"
"No, Pinkie! If you just paid more attention, you would've figured it out by now." Chase said sternly, making the pink pony flinch in surprise. Chase recomposes himself. "Today, one of us is gonna be showing the students the most important feature of friendships. A teamwork field trip."
"Exactly, honey." Twilight said, agreeing with her husband. "A teamwork field trip. Leading it is a Teacher of the Month-type job, so I thought I'd ask..."
"I'm your pony, Twilight and Chase!" Applejack volunteered, but mainly sees an opportunity for the award trophy. "Sweet Apple Acres has taught me a thing or two about workin' together."
"Yeah, but being a Wonderbolt's the definition of teamwork." Rainbow said, seeing her chance for the trophy as well.
Applejack chuckled.
"I'm sure you're not sayin' fancy flyin' makes ya a better choice than me." Applejack said with a fake smile.
Rainbow chuckled as well.
"I wouldn't say "better". Just a little more qualified. No offense." Rainbow said with a smug smirk as Applejack looked annoyed.
"Maybe you can lead the field trip together." Fluttershy suggested.
Rainbow and Applejack widen with stunned looks, and stuttered.
"Of course!" Twilight said, liking the idea. "Who better to model the importance of working as a team?"
"Um, Rarity? Clay? Fluttershy? Me? Sokka? Jade? Sunray? Trini? Antonio? Spike?" Pinkie said, pointing out the obvious then brought a flowerpot. "This flowerpot?"
POW!
"OW!" Pinkie yelped in pain before she rubbed the back of her head as Darkshine gave her a stern look.
"Both of you are teamwork experts." Twilight said, walking up to Applejack and Rainbow with Chase by her side. "If the students see the two of you teaching together, they'll learn more. I know you've been competitive in the past, but I'm sure you'd never let that get in the way of friendship education."
"Of course!" Said Applejack.
"Totally!" Said Rainbow.
Chase, however, was feeling the suspicion of the two just competing for the trophy and knew where this would lead to.
"Remember, girls. It's only for teamwork and discipline." Chase said sternly, making the two ponies look at him at full attention. "We don't want anything bad to happen to the students. So try not to get in over your heads this time, okay?"
"Yes, sir!" Applejack and Rainbow replied back in unison.
"Good." Chase said as he and Twilight turned, walking away.
But then Applejack and Rainbow groaned in annoyance, which caused Chase to turn back to them sternly. Applejack and Rainbow flinch before they chuckled nervously at him.
Chase rolled his eyes in annoyance before he went to join Twilight.
*Main theme*
Sometime later, Chase and Twilight were leading the Young Nine outside.
"I've never been on a field trip before." Said Ocellus.
"Yeah, what's the point of this exactly?" Smolder questioned.
"Getting out of the classroom. Duh." Said Gallus with a smirk.
"I think it's more than that, Gallus." Mako said as Gallus turned to him. "I think the professors have something that involves teamwork."
"Yak best at field-tripping!" Yona said and then trips over on purpose since braids have been tied together.
"That's what we're doing?!" Silverstream said. "So fun!" She then did the same.
"Uh, I honestly don't think what a field trip is, Silver." Said Korra as Sandbar chuckled.
"Pretty sure the headmare has something else in mind." Sandbar said to the Hippogriff.
"But, what exactly?" Bolin asked.
"Let's find out." Mako said with a smile.
"All right, class." Twilight said, getting their attention. "Today you'll learn how important working together is for building a strong friendship."
"And it will also help to make you all understand the importance of teamwork." Chase said with a smile before he muttered to himself in annoyance. "Assuming AJ and Rainbow don't fight over the Teacher of The Month award."
That's when Applejack arrived while Twilight and Chase moved aside.
"Hey, y'all! Ready to get out there and do some learnin' the Apple family way?" Applejack asked with an enthusiastic grin when Rainbow swooped in.
"This is basically gonna be the best field trip in the history of ever! With me in charge, that is." Rainbow said, cockily. Then Applejack shoved her. "Whoa!"
Applejack chuckled nervously.
"With us in charge." Applejack explained with a sheepish smile. She reminded and then whispered to Rainbow Dash. "Meanin' mostly me."
"Yeah. Good one." Rainbow said with a chuckle.
Chase, however, glared at the two unamusingly as he knew he was right about them competing with each other.
"And what teamwork activity do you two have planned for today?" Twilight asked.
"Shed buildin'/Canoe racing!" Applejack and Rainbow both said at the same time.
"No... way." Silverstream said excitedly. "We get to do both?!"
"I bet that's exactly what your teachers had in mind." Twilight said a little uneasy as Applejack and Rainbow glanced at each other. "Why don't you start with shed building first?"
Applejack made a quick smug smile at Rainbow and turned back to Twilight.
"Heh. Don't mind if I do! Everycreature, follow the leader!"
The Young Nine began to follow Applejack.
"My husband and I will check in later to see how it's going." Said Twilight. "Remember to work together!"
And soon, Rainbow follows up the end. Chase was still glaring at the two mares as he didn't like where this was going.
"Honey, do you really think it was wise of us to put those two together?" Chase asked Twilight with concern as his wife turned to her husband. "This is definitely gonna be one of those days where Rainbow and Applejack won't live this down."
"Don't worry, sweetheart." Twilight said with a confident smile. "I'm sure they've learned their lesson over the years about being competitive and we'll make sure to remind them that it will not always be about the Teacher of The Month award." Then she gave Chase a flirty smile as she wrapped her forelegs around his neck. "And if you're not too busy, maybe you got a little time to catch up on our training time in the dojo?"
Chase smirked as he wrapped a foreleg around his wife.
"For you, milady, you got it." Chase replied back as Twilight giggled before they shared a loving kiss on the lips and they flew off back to the school.
(Scene changes)
Soon they arrived at an apple field and Applejack takes in a deep breath of the fresh air.
"Now take a good, deep breath." Said Applejack. "What do you smell?"
Gallus took a sniff, but held his nose.
"Uh, yak?" Gallus asked disgustingly.
Yona sniffs her fur coat.
"Mm-hmm!" Yona said in agreement as Bolin sniffs her.
"Ugh! By any chance have you ever heard of a bath?!" Bolin asked disgustingly as he held his nose while Yona glared at him.
"Nope. Try again." Said Applejack.
"Um, apples?" Ocellus guested.
"And...? Anyone? Anyone? No? The promise of... teamwork!" Applejack then points over to a shed and shed building materials. "That's there's an apple shed. And this here is what we're gonna use to build it. Nothin' brings friends together like a little hard work and honest sweat."
Then Rainbow laughed and smacked herself.
"Sweat? Seriously? That's supposed to be part of friendship?" Rainbow asked while snickering.
"Not everypony would know that, Rainbow Dash." Applejack pointed out. "Just "Teacher of the Month" kind o' ponies."
"Whatever. Let's just get this done so we can move on to my activity." Rainbow said, dismissively with a smirk.
Applejack glared at her as the students glanced a little concern.
"I think this is what Headstallion Chase meant when those two can be very competitive." Korra said to her friends, who nodded in agreement.
(Scene changes)
About half an hour later, the students have begun to work on building a shed.
"That's it!" Applejack said. "Measure twice and cut once! Haste makes waste! Slow and steady!"
"Emphasis on the slow." Rainbow holding a few boards.
She then zoomed off and then started building a shed in midair really quick.
"Rainbow Dash! Ya can't build an apple shed like that!" Applejack said.
Then Rainbow went up and scoffed.
"Oh, yeah?! I just did!" Rainbow replied back in a snarky tone.
Then the shed drops on the ground, and it's almost finished.
"Whoa! No way!" Sandbar amazed.
"That has to be a new record!" Bolin said, looking at it.
"Impressive... if you can call an apple shed impressive." Said Gallus.
"Just 'cause it's fast don't mean it's good!" Applejack said to Rainbow angrily.
"Oh, sorry, can't hear you." Rainbow said, pretending she didn't hear her. "Too busy practicing my "Teacher of the Month" pose." Rainbow then strikes different poses.
"Don't count your pictures before they're snapped, Rainbow Dash." Applejack muttered to herself.
"Oh, come on! These students are totally gonna vote for a teacher who gets things done!" Rainbow said while gesturing to the students.
"No! They're gonna vote for a teacher who gets things done right!" Applejack argued bitterly.
"Competitive ones, they are." Said Korra in annoyance.
"Yeah... This isn't awkward at all..." Smolder said.
(Scene changes)
Later, Bolin used his Earth element power to push up the wall and hold it. Ocellus and Silverstream hammered the wall in place.
Soon, Yona, Bolin, and Mako begin to lower the roof, as Korra holds the rope from getting tangled while Gallus and Smolder guide it down.
"Steady... Steady... Take 'er nice and slow..." Applejack guided them. "Little to the left..." Smolder and Gallus move the roof slightly left. "Uh, a hair to the right..." They slightly moved it right. "Now, a hoof shavin' higher..."
The roof is then lifted up.
Rainbow is now getting too impatient with the slow stuff and growls before she zooms over to Yona, Bolin, and Korra.
"JUST BRING IT DOWN ALREADY!" Rainbow shouted impatiently.
The shout made Yona and Bolin let go of the rope, which Korra was pulled up still holding the rope up to the branch as the roof came crashing down on the shed as everyone got out of the way.
When the dust cleared, they went over to the shed remains. Rainbow chuckled nervously as Bolin helped Korra down.
"I'll give ya one guess whose side is still standin'." Said Applejack while glaring at Rainbow Dash.
"Yak side!" Yona shouted, placing her hoof on the front wall which was standing still.
But then it tips over, and falls. Sandbar missed it and was now in the gap. But it hit right on top of Mako, Leaving a unicorn back shaped on him, and through the wall. Then Mako drops to the ground completely dazed.
"My head!" Mako cried out.
Applejack sighs in upset.
"Um, professors? I'm a little confused about teamwork now." Said Ocellus.
"Yeah, me too." Said Korra in agreement.
"That's because you need a different teacher." Said Rainbow. "Follow me! Last one to the stream is a rotten apple shed!"
She then zooms off, and Applejack growled in annoyance.
(Scene changes)
A few minutes later, they were at a river with a canoe floating in the water in place.
"Who's ready to smash the all-time Equestria speed record for river canoeing?" Said Rainbow now in river gear as well as everyone else.
A moment of silence filled the air.
"Is that even a thing?" Gallus asked Sandbar.
"First I've heard of it." Sandbar admitted.
"So, uh, what's the goal, here?" Mako asked. "What are we doing?"
"We need to get to the finish line before this alarm goes off." Rainbow holding out a stopwatch. "That means you gotta move fast!" She tossed several oars to the students. "Any questions?"
Mako, Bolin, and Korra didn't like it as they had wished Chase was here right now to help them out.
"Uh, Yona has questions." Yona said, raising her hoof and looked nervous.
"No time for 'em! Get in the boat!" Rainbow ordered.
They begin to climb into the canoe and Applejack confronts her.
"You really think winnin' some canoein' record is gonna get you that Teacher of the Month trophy?" She said.
"I'm pretty sure everycreature's gonna like it a lot better than pounding nails and cutting wood." Rainbow smirked.
Applejack narrowed her eyes.
Meanwhile, as the students climbed into the boat, Yona, Mako, Korra, and Bolin stopped at the water's edge.
"Yak not like water." Yona said nervously.
"Uh, g-g-guys. I'm not really sure this is gonna be a good idea for us to do this." Bolin admitted uneasily.
"Sometimes, when I'm scared to try something new, I whistle." Ocellus said encouragingly.
Yona starts whistling, and begins to climb in the canoe as well as Bolin.
"We got you, Yona." Gallus said, helping her inside with Smolder helping.
Then Bolin slips in upside down, but manages to flip over.
Mako and Korra were the only ones not going into the canoe as they felt worried about this.
"Mako, I really wish Headstallion Chase was here to help us out. He's always good at lecturing the professors in his own way." Korra whispered to Mako.
"Yeah. But maybe we should just wait until he and Headmare Twilight come back." Mako whispered back to Korra. "For now, let's just get into the canoe and join the others."
Korra nodded before she and Mako jumped into the canoe to join their friends.
Back over with Applejack and Rainbow Dash.
"Way I see it, Twilight and Chase are gonna give that teachin' trophy to a teacher, not a racer." Said Applejack.
"We'll see about that." Rainbow replied back while she smirked.
"Two can play this game!" Applejack thought in her head.
(Scene changes)
Soon, Rainbow is coaching them of stroking.
"Stroke! Stroke Stroke!" Rainbow shouted as Yona, Gallus, Smolder, Rex and Jr stroked their oars in the water. But it was a challenge for Rex due to his small arms. "Put your backs into it, newbies!"
"Stroooooke... Stroooooke... Stroooooke... Slower..." Applejack with the other students. "Focus on your paddle technique, y'all."
"Woo- hoo! We're really going now!" Said Silverstream.
"So... when do we get to the part when we move?" Smolder questioned curiously before she muttered to herself. "Man, I really wish Headstallion Chase was here right now."
Since because half the students were facing one direction, and the other they were in the same spot.
"Uh, I thought we've been in the same spot." Said Bolin.
"When everycreature starts listening to me, the leader of my activity." Rainbow said as she gritted her teeth. "APPLEJACK!" Then the other student lined up facing her. "Now STROKE!"
And soon they started stroking, and headed down river.
(Scene changes)
Half hour later, they were still moving down river and Rainbow took a look at her stopwatch.
"Dig in, team! We can still beat that record!" Rainbow yelled.
Then Applejack noticed something ahead of them.
"Stop!" Applejack shouted with a shocked look.
"GO!" Rainbow called.
"Which way do we go?" Ocellus asked.
In the middle of the river was a large rock.
"Left!" Rainbow yelled.
"Right!" Applejack yelled.
"Aye-aye, captains!" Said Silverstream, but then realized something and now confused. "Wait, what?"
"Left!" Rainbow called. "I can see the finish line from here!"
The left path showed a clear shot to the finish line. By now, there were some piranha like fish with wings in their way.
"If we go left, we'll be headin' straight into the bite-acuda fish!" Said Applejack.
"Who cares about a few fish?" Said Rainbow.
"Uh, professors?" Sandbar said.
"You'll care plenty when they bite ya!" Said Applejack.
"Guys?" Sandbar trying to get their attention.
"We'll just go around them!" Rainbow said, irritatingly not seeing a section of rocks in their way.
"ROCK!" Sanbar screamed.
Then the canoe crashed right into the rocks. The canoe broke into pieces, and soon everyone swam up to the surface.
Suddenly, Yona and Bolin were flown right under a branch as their life jackets got caught, which the current caused them to be ripped out.
"I love field trips!" Silverstream said.
"This is... not ideal." Mako Scar.
"I hope you're happy." Applejack said to Rainbow angrily as pegasus mare looks at her stopwatch.
"Obviously not! Because there goes our new speed record!" Rainbow snapped furiously.
Then they noticed two ripped life jackets before they saw Yona struggling to stay afloat while Bolin stood on top of her.
"Help!" Yona shouted. "Yak not swim!"
"Come on, guys!" Bolin shouted worriedly. "We're not gonna be able to make it much longer!"
Just before they knew it, they began to sink under.
"Silverstream! Ocellus!" Korra said to Ocellus and Silverstream. "Do you think you can get them out of the water in a flash?"
"We're on it, Korra!" Ocellus replied back confidently.
Then Ocellus and Silverstream took their helmets off as they turned into Hippogriffs before they swam off to get their other friends to safety.
"That's okay! Your friends can change into creatures that do!" Ocellus said as she and Silverstream got Yona and Bolin before they swam up to the surface.
"Oh! Thank you, thank you, thank you!" Bolin exclaimed in relief while holding them.
That was when Chase and Twilight came back once they saw the situation.
"How's the canoeing... going?" Twilight asked, now confused of them in the water.
"About as good as the apple shed building." Smolder said as the others began to climb out of the water.
Chase knew what was happening and didn't like it one bit. He could tell that two particular ponies were involved in this crazy scheme.
"Okay. Will somebody please tell me what the heck is going on here?" Chase asked with a stern glare.
The Young Nine responded by pointing at Applejack and Rainbow Dash, who were arguing with each other.
"I totally had things under control until Applejack messed 'em up!" Said Rainbow.
"I did not!" Said Applejack.
"Did too!" Rainbow shouted angrily.
"Did not!" Applejack snapped back.
Chase glared at them angrily as his eyes narrowed furiously toward the two bickering ponies.
"Have they been doing this all day?" Chase demanded sternly.
"Yup. It's been like this all day." Said Gallus.
"You're telling me." Said Bolin.
"I wouldn't say all day." Said Sandbar. "Just... 99% of it."
Twilight and Chase then turned back to Applejack and Rainbow Dash as they continued to argue.
"Not!" Applejack said.
"Too!" Said Rainbow.
"Not!" Rainbow snapped furiously.
"Too!" Applejack snapped back angrily.
"Not!" Rainbow snapped angrily again.
"Too!" Applejack argued back angrily at Rainbow when…
ZAP!
"YEEOUCH!" The two ponies yelped in a girly voice each from the shock of lightning.
They turned to see Chase pointing at the two by using his right index finger with his element power infused with him as his right aura hand replaced his front right hoof. He stopped using his element as he glared at Applejack and Rainbow furiously, making the two flinch in fear of him.
"We're in trouble now." Rainbow said to Applejack worriedly as the farm pony nodded with a scared look on her face.
"So, who wants to tell us what's going on here?" Chase demanded firmly.
"Uh… teamwork?" Rainbow asked feebly, but Chase just shook his head at the two angrily.
(Scene changes)
A few minutes later, Chase, Twilight, and a now arrived Clay were talking with the two competitors.
"I can't believe this! You're not teaching teamwork!" Said Twilight, furiously. "You're competing with each other! I thought you were past that!"
"We are!" Rainbow said. "Mostly."
"We got carried away with wantin' to be the Teacher of the Month is all." Applejack admitted.
"This isn't funny, you two!" Said Chase, glaring at them sternly. "Someone could've been seriously hurt! And don't you two have enough trophies of your own, by now? You guys just don't know when to give up! Do you?!"
Applejack and Rainbow flinched at Chase's tone in fear.
"Now, that's something I admire Headstallion Chase for keeping the professor's in line." Korra whispered to her friends, who nodded in agreement with her.
"The Teacher of the Month wouldn't care about being the Teacher of the Month!" Twilight said and agreed with her husband. "I know Fluttershy would be thrilled to see another pony. Sokka would agree on this as well."
"Applejack, I understand how much you want to win the trophy just like Rainbow does, but you don't learn to face the consequences that much!" Clay said, scolding Applejack as his wife turned to him. "Granny Smith would scold you severely for doing something stupid like this! And this isn't like handling Sweet Apple Acres!"
Applejack flinched in reply.
"Besides, if you two keep this up, Fluttershy and Sokka will just win the next one!" Chase said angrily. "I knew we couldn't trust you both to work together on this!"
"That's it!" Twilight said firmly.
"For the safety of the class…" Chase added firmly.
"We're taking over this field trip!" Twilight finished.
"Along with me!" Said Clay sternly.
They begin to walk off, and Applejack and Rainbow panicked as they don't seem to want to give up just yet.
"H-Hold up, Twilight, Chase, and Clay." Applejack stopping them.
"Ugh! What now?!" Chase said, angrily and agitatingly.
"Don't count Rainbow Dash for the reward just yet." Applejack trying to reason them. "You shoulda seen her fire up those students to build a shed."
"No way! You're the one the students listen to." Said Rainbow. "Besides, you saved us from those pony-eating fish."
"Oh, really?" Chase asked, not buying it as he glared at them sternly.
Then the two had innocent smiles on their faces. While Twilight raised an eyebrow, Chase and Clay just stared at the two with a glare.
"Uh, long story." Rainbow said. "But Applejack should definitely be Teacher of the Month."
Chase inwardly growled at the two.
"Hmmm... Maybe you two have learned something, after all." Said Twilight.
"Does that mean you'll give us another chance at the Teacher of the..." Applejack was cut off when Rainbow placed her hoof over her mouth.
"Field trip?" Rainbow said.
"Well..." Twilight said, still having doubts.
"We don't know. It sounds like you're just gonna keep being more competitive." Chase said, agreeing with his wife as he glared at the two ponies.
"Come on, Twilight and Chase. We get it. No more arguing. Right, Applejack?"
"Right as rain and twice as fresh!" Said Applejack.
And the two, high hoof each other.
"Fine." Twilight said. "But I'm picking the next activity you two lead. A nature walk. Nopony could possibly argue over that. Right?"
"Right!" They both said.
"See? We're agreein' already." Said Applejack.
Twilight nodded and leaves. But then Chase turns to Applejack and Rainbow Dash.
"You two better not compete on a nature walk." Chase said with a glare and in a warning tone. "If you ever lous this one up, trust me, it won't end well."
Rainbow and Applejack cringed, and then nodded.
"And to be sure that you won't mess this up again, Clay is going to keep an eye on you both so you behave yourselves." Chase added as Clay stood next to the alicorn stallion while glaring at the two surprised mares. "Do you guys understand?"
"Yes, sir." Applejack and Rainbow replied back nervously.
"Good." Chase said before he went off to join up with Twilight.
(Scene changes)
Minutes later, they were leading the students through a nature trail. And then came across a fork in the path.
"Well, look at that." Applejack said. "The path splits up ahead. Left or right?"
"Ugh. Here we go again." Smolder groaned.
"Oh, come on." Said Mako.
"Not again." Apato shook his head.
"Where to, Rainbow Dash?" Applejack asked.
But Rainbow seems more concerned about Chase's warning.
"I was thinking right... unless you want to go left. Because what makes you happy makes me happy." Rainbow requested.
Applejack seemed concerned about Chase's warning as well.
"Aw, heck. Forget about me. You want to go right, we'll go right." Applejack requested as well.
"But teamwork means listening to other ponies, so it's up to you."
"Well, aren't you as sweet as sugar apple pie? But it's up to you."
As they talked, the students and Clay were getting impatient.
"Follow me!" Clay finally spoke, getting angry as walked into the right path. "I know the best way around these parts!"
"Yeah, I'm with him." Korra said, following Clay on the right path as well.
"Yeah, me too." Said Mako.
"Hey, where are y'all goin'?" Applejack said as she and Rainbow ran after them.
(Scene changes)
About two hours later, the group had now wandered all across the forest and now they were on a ledge.
"I think we've gone in the same circle five times." Said Ocellus.
"I counted six." Bolin said.
"I thought I counted twenty five." Said Korra before she turned to Clay. "What do you think, Professor Clay?"
Clay turned his head face to Applejack and Rainbow angrily.
"I thought we had gone in the right direction, but apparently we didn't." Clay remarked with an annoyed glare he sent to his wife and Rainbow Dash.
"Only because someponies won't make up their minds about which way to go." Sandbar added, glaring back at Applejack and Rainbow along with the others.
"Do you want to keep going in a circle, Applejack?" Rainbow uneasily asked Applejack knowing their mistake.
"Up to you, Rainbow Dash." Said Applejack. "I insist."
"No, no. I insist." Rainbow chuckled.
"Heh. But I insisted first." Applejack said, insistently.
Then the two glared at each other as if they couldn't take it anymore.
"Well, that's just great!" Mako said, completely angry just like Clay, Bolin, and Korra. "We're completely lost, no idea where we even are! And all thanks to you two trouble markers."
"Are we still on a field trip?" Silverstream asked. "'Cause this just feels like being lost."
"We are lost, Silver." Said Bolin with a deadpan look on his face.
"Only one way to find out where we are." Korra said with a look of thought before she turned to Smolder. "Smolder, do you think you can fly up in the air and tell us if the school is nearby?"
"You got it, Korra." Smolder replied back with a smirk before she flew up to get a better look of the area.
"See anything up there?!" Bolin called to the orange dragon.
Soon Smolder spotted the school only a mile and a half away.
"We can still get back to school before dark if we cross that ravine and stop doubling back." Smolder replied back
Rainbow and Applejack glanced at each other.
"We knew that. All part of our plan. Right, Applejack?" Said Rainbow.
"Uh, yup!" Applejack said. "All we have to do is, uh... build a bridge 'cross that, uh, giant canyon, and we're home free. That is, if-if you think a bridge is a good idea."
"Only if you want to build a bridge."
"STOP!" Gallus screamed as he now lost his temper.
"Mako, Bolin." Clay said annoyingly.
Bolin grabs Rainbow as Mako grabs Applejack and then Clay slammed their heads together.
"THAT'S ENOUGH YOU TWO!" Mako shouted. "WE'RE TIRED, WE'RE HUNGRY! AND WILL YOU STOP COMPETING FOR SECOND!?"
"Listen. We can just fly everyone over and be done." Said Gallus having enough of this.
"Nope!" Applejack refused. "There's still plenty o' time to teach y'all a lesson in teamwork."
"Cooperation!" Said Rainbow.
"Togetherness!" Applejack said.
"You are so right!" Rainbow insisted with a forced smile.
"Only as right as you are!" Applejack said with a forced smile as well.
"OKAY!" Smolder said, getting between them and having enough of their competitiveness. "We'll build a bridge! What do we use?"
"Branches!/Vines!" Applejack and Rainbow both said at the same time.
The two glared at each other.
"Vines/Branches!" Rainbow Dash and Applejack both said at the same time once more.
They glared at each other again.
"I'm goin' with your idea! Vines!" Said Applejack. "No buts about it!"
"I-I'm building with your idea! Branches! End of story!" Said Rainbow.
The two glared again as Clay just sighed to himself in annoyance.
"One of these days, I'm gonna need a vacation from those two." Clay said to himself with a dry look.

A few minutes later, Applejack and Rainbow both made a bridge, but they looked as if they could break any minute.
"Wh... I would rather die." Korra said stubbornly, refusing to cross any of them.
"Honey, are you sure one of those branches are gonna work?" Clay called to his wife with concern.
"Don't worry, Clay. I think we got this. Besides, why use a branch when you can use a vine?" Applejack asked as she soon tightened the bridge, finishing it.
She then pulls on the vine, but then snaps as she fell. But luckily she caught the vine and climbs back up. And Rainbow adds the final branch to her bridge.
"Why didn't I think of branches to begin with?" Rainbow said to herself. "They're so..." Then suddenly, a branch snaps and the bridge drop a bit. "easy to work with."
The students and Clay got concerned.
"These here vines are just the thing, Rainbow Dash!" Said Applejack with a vine in her mouth.
"Not to disagree, but these here branches are the way to..." Rainbow said as she held up two branches with her legs when it happened…
Then suddenly the branch bridge gave loose, and started falling. Rainbow crashed into Applejack and they both fell. Soon they were in a ball of vines and branches hanging from both sides of the cliff. Clay and the students were shocked by this.
"Applejack! Are you and Rainbow alright?!" Clay called to his wife worriedly.
"HELP!" Rainbow and Applejack both cried as they were 20 feet over a river.
High above, the students and Clay looked down.
"Uh, at least now they're agreeing on something." Said Ocellus.
"Yeah. Last time, possibly." Said Mako.
Back down below, Rainbow is still trying to get free. But the vines are too tight for her to squeeze.
"I can't get out!" Rainbow said as she grunted.
"Let me try." Applejack said.
Applejack then brought out a vine, and threw it up. But didn't make it to the ledge as it fell, and then a bite-acuda clamps his jaws on the vine. Soon more of them appeared with hungry looks on their faces.
"Let me guess. Bite-acudas?" Rainbow questioned.
The bite-acudas then surfaces bounced on the water with hunger in their eyes.
"Mm-hmm." Applejack nodded. "And they look mighty hungry."
Back up on the ledge, Clay and the students witnessed this.
"We gotta get our professors out of there!" Said Sandbar. "Anycreature have a plan?"
"Leave 'em hangin'?" Gallus and Mako said.
"What?!" Silverstream said.
"Guys!" Korra said with a disapproving look.
"We're kidding!" Gallus said.
"Kinda." Said Mako.
"We need to work fast!" Said Ocellus. "And together!"
Then a vine weakens and begins to break.
"But mainly fast." Said Smolder.
"Okay, guys. I have a idea." Said Clay as they got in a team huddle. "This is something Chase and I often used on the elite snobs in Canterlot. It's called distraction and misdirection. Now here's what we're gonna do."
Then the vines snapped, and Rainbow and Applejack were lowered. Now they were hanging by one vine. And the bite-acudas lunge out of the water, snapping their jaws only missing the two trapped ponies.
"I hate to admit it, but..." Said Applejack. Then they jolted downwards. "...this whole mess is kinda our fault." She finished.
"Yeah. No trophy is worth getting eaten over." Said Rainbow. "I'd rather be lectured by either Chase or Darkshine for this."
"So what do ya say? You want to team up and get ourselves out of this here pickle barrel?" Applejack asked with a confident smile.
"I thought you'd never ask." Rainbow replied back with the same confident smile on her face
Then they saw a giant monstrous bite-acuda flying next to them, which they screamed.
"Don't worry." Said a familiar voice which is Ocellus. "I'm just the distraction Professor Clay instructed."
"Ocellus?!" Rainbow asked, stunned.
"You nearly scared the cutie marks off us!" Applejack said as she sighed in relief.
Then Ocellus dove in the water, and rose in front of the bite-acudas. Then she let out a vicious roar, and snapped her jaws. It was enough to send the bite-acudas swimming away and yelping like a scared dog as Ocellus chases them away.
Then the remaining vine snaps as Rainbow and Applejack fell to the water. But then, they suddenly came to a halt.
"Need a lift?" Silverstream called out.
They looked up, and saw Silverstream and Gallus holding some vines. And soon they were lifting back to the ledge safely.
"Well done, guys!" Clay said to his students with a proud smile as he turned to Applejack and Rainbow. "Now let's free them."
"Yak smash!" Yona approach them.
Soon they begin to break their teachers out of the ball of vines and sticks.
"Welcome back, professors!" Said Sandbar.
"Now, that was a rescue!" Said Rainbow.
"And y'all did it together!" Applejack said.
"It was all Professor Clay's idea." Korra said as she turned to Clay with a smile as he returned the favor while the students cheered.
"No big." Said Gallus. "Those fish weren't even a thing."
"Yeah. I could've done that if I had wings." Mako said.
Then they heard some growling and saw Ocellus still a giant bite-acuda. The two screamed as Mako leaped into Gallus's arm.
"Oops. Sorry." Ocellus said as she chuckled sheepishly.
She then changes back to a changeling.
Silverstream giggled.
"Best... field trip... ever!" Silverstream exclaimed happily.
Clay approached Applejack and hugged his wife with a relieved smile.
"I'm so glad you're okay, Applejack. Don't ever scare me like that again." Clay said to Applejack as she smiled in reply while hugging her husband.
(Scene changes)
It was now sunset, and they finally arrived back at the School of Friendship. Clay walked off screen to go rest up after a long day.
"How was the field trip?" Twilight said as she trotted over to them and Chase casually walked to join his wife. "What did you all learn?"
"Uhhhh..." Rainbow and Applejack uneasily.
"Yak learn ponies smart!" Said Yona.
"Yeah! Professors Applejack and Rainbow Dash were such good teachers!" Said Silverstream. "Especially Professor Clay!"
"Despite their competition between each other." Said Bolin.
"It was kind of crazy genius." Said Gallus. "They showed us what not to do so we'd figure out what we should do."
"Yep." Said Mako with a smirk.
"Really...?" Twilight asked, a little confused with Chase.
"Was Clay really helpful to you guys on the entire trip as well?" Chase asked curiously.
"Yeah. He sure was." Said Korra.
"It took us a while to get it." Said Sandbar.
"Especially at the ravine." Smolder pointed out. "It would've been so much easier to just fly home."
"Yeah. So much easier." Said Mako.
"But instead, our professors built bridges the wrong way just to show us how important teamwork is." Said Silverstream.
"Yeah. That was super dangerous." Gallus said." Talk about commitment."
"You're telling me." Said Korra. "A bit over the line, literally."
Rainbow and Applejack glance at each other, knowing they were right.
"We know it's too early to pick the Teacher of the Month." Said Ocellus to Twilight and Chase. "But we'd like you both to consider Rainbow Dash and Applejack."
"Thank you for telling us." Said Twilight. "My husband and I are so glad to hear your field trip was a success. We'll make sure to schedule another one right away."
The Young Nine cheered and begin to turn in for the night.
"You were actually just competing the entire time, weren't you?" Twilight asked, smirking to Rainbow and Applejack.
"I had a feeling you guys were up to something with your little schemes going on as well." Chase said with a teasing smirk.
"To tell you both the truth... yeah." Applejack admitted.
Chase just shook his head.
"Well, not all the time." Said Rainbow. "I agreed with you for the whole nature walk."
"Only 'cause you were anglin' for that Teacher of the Month award!"
Twilight and Chase groaned in annoyance before they walked away.
"You were the one doing the "angling"!" Said Rainbow.
"You were more like fandanglin'!" Applejack retorted indignantly.
"What does that even mean?! No one here can understand your country bumpkin talk...!/Look, all live in the same town here...!" Rainbow Dash and Applejack constantly argued about the field trip.
Chase and Twilight stopped at the altar while watching the two argue with unamused looks on their faces.
That was when Chase smirked as he got an idea, making Twilight turn to her husband.
"What are you thinking, honey?" Twilight asked curiously.
"I'm gonna show them what happens when they bicker with each other." Chase answered as he walks to a rope while keeping his eyes on Applejack and Rainbow, who were still bickering.
Then he pulls the rope down with a yank and an eject tile launches Rainbow Dash and Applejack out of the school, making the two stop arguing as they yelped in surprise.
They had flown and stopped in the air for a minute with scared looks on their faces, knowing that Chase was still mad at them.
"We really need to stop getting on Chase's bad side for a change." Rainbow said meekly.
"Uh huh." Applejack said in agreement.
Then they screamed as they fell right into the pond with a big splash. They rose up as they coughed and spat the water out of their mouths.
Inside the school Twilight blinked in surprise before she giggled at the sight of her friends being punished by her husband.
"Oh, honey." Twilight said as she hugged Chase lovingly. "Sometimes I love watching you keep those two in line."
"Well, sometimes it's fun being me, honey." Chase said as he chuckled while Twilight giggled before they shared a loving kiss on the lips and a loving nuzzle. "Let's go get some dinner at the diner. My treat."
"Lead the way, my love." Twilight said with a smile.
Then they walked off to go get dinner.
